Chemistry and Biological Activity of Thieno[3,4-b]quinoline, Thieno[3,4-c] quinolone, Thieno[3,2-g]quinoline and Thieno[2,3-g]quinoline Derivatives: A Review (Part IX)

Abstract:

Over the previous decades, thieno-quinoline derivatives have acquired great interest due to their synthetic and biological applications. These reports have been disclosed on Thienoquinoline synthesis such as thieno[3,4-b]quinoline; thieno[3,4-c]quinolone; thieno [3,2-g]quinoline; thieno[2,3- g] quinoline; spiro-thieno[2,3-g]quinoline; benzo[b]thiophen-iso- quinoline derivatives, and therefore in the existent review, we provided an inclusive update on the synthesis of thienoquinolines. Characterization of the preparation methods and reactivity is categorized based on their types of reactions as addition, alkylation, chlorination, acylation, oxidation, reduction, cyclization and cyclo-condensation. Hence, this study will help the researchers to obtain knowledge from the last literature research to conquer their resolve problems in designing new compounds and processes.

Chemistry of Thieno [2,3-h]-/[3,2-h] Quinoline and Thieno [2,3-f]-/[3,2-f] Quinoline Derivatives Part (x), Reactivities, and Biological Activities

Abstract:

Several thieno [2,3-h] /[3,2-h] quinolines and thieno [2,3-f] /[3,2-f] quinolines (TQs) are discussed in this review from a few perspectives, including various preparation and processing methods employing cutting-edge machinery. The preparation of (TQs), from 4-(5)aminobenzothiophene, 2(3)chloromethylthiophene, 2(3)thienylboric acid, and other chemical reagents is illustrated via a number of chemical procedures in this review. The formation of (TQs) was clarified using the Michael addition, Photocyclization, Skraup reaction, Ullmann-Fetvadjian process, Suzuki-Miyaura and Sonogashira reaction, aza-Diels-Alder reaction, and Friedel-Crafts reaction.

Synthesis and Properties of Diphenylbenzo[j]naphtho[2,1,8-def][2,7]phenanthrolines

A series of hitherto unknown 5,14-diphenylbenzo[j]naphtho[2,1,8-def][2,7]phenanthrolines, containing a 5-azatetracene and a 2-azapyrene subunit, were prepared by combination of Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions with a one-pot Povarov/cycloisomerization reaction. In the final key step four new bonds are formed in one step. The synthetic approach allows for a high degree of diversification of the heterocyclic core structure. The optical and electrochemical properties were studied experimentally and by DFT/TD-DFT and NICS calculations. Due to the presence of the 2-azapyrene subunit, the typical electronic nature and characteristics of the 5-azatetracene moiety are lost and the compounds are electronically and optically more related to 2-azapyrenes.

Synthesis of Nitrogen Heterocycles by a C–C Cross-Coupling/Cycloisomerization Strategy

The present article presents a personalized Account on the synthesis of nitrogen heterocycles by combination of regioselective Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of polyhalogenated heterocycles, i.e., Suzuki–Miyaura and Sonogashira reactions, with acid-mediated cycloisomerization reactions. In many cases, the products constitute new heterocyclic core structures and show interesting optical and electronic properties.
