Abstract
Carbazole-fused quinones are important compounds for their potential pharmacological activities and photophysical properties. Here, a novel copper-catalyzed intramolecular isomerization process to access a new class of naphtho[2,3-c]carbazole-8,13-dione derivatives via a furan isomerization/γ-H elimination and β-C elimination/6π-electrocyclization/aromatization cascade is reported. Furthermore, the preliminary photophysical properties of the functional 5-methyl-5H-naphtho[2,3-c]carbazole-8,13-dione derivatives have been studied.

Abstract
A masked-bay-region selective first-row transition-metal Cp*Co(III)-catalyzed annulative π-extension of arene-derived ketones is achieved to afford K-region-functionalized benzo[e]pyrenes, benzotetraphenes, and pyrenes. Comprehensive density functional theory studies buttress the mechanistic pathway comprising key steps like peri-C-H activation, alkyne 1,2-migratory insertion, and nucleophilic attack toward ketone, this attack being the rate-determining step. In addition, π-conjugated 1,1'-bipyrenes, potential photocatalyst pyrene-quinones, and putative n-type semiconductor cyano group-containing dibenzo[de,qr]tetracenes are also accessed.

Abstract
In this paper, a series of novel carbazolequinones were efficiently obtained by a B(C6F5)3-catalyzed [4 + 2] cyclization reaction. This protocol not only had a simple operation, broad substrate range, and high atomic economy, but also had a low catalyst loading and avoided using metal catalysts. In addition, we constructed diverse new carbazole-fused compounds under different reduction conditions. The results of photophysical characterization showed that the structure of carbazole-fused derivatives had a significant impact on the fluorescence properties.

Abstract
Benzoperylenocarbazole (BPC), a unique carbazole-based organophotocatalyst, is reported herein as a potent organo-photoreductant. Lower excited state oxidation potential (-2.0 V vs SCE) and reasonable excited state lifetime (4.61 ns) render BPC an effective photosensitizer. Under irradiation of blue light employing low catalyst loading (0.5 mol %), a plethora of vicinal diols and diamines were synthesized in excellent yields through reductive coupling of carbonyls and imines, respectively. Insight about the electronic structure of BPC was obtained by DFT calculations.

Abstract
Herein, we report an unprecedented cascade reaction of C(sp2)-H addition to carbonyl and the C(sp2)-CN/C(sp2)-H coupling of 2-(2-oxo-2-arylethyl)benzonitriles with indoles enabled by commercially available TsOH·H2O. The protocol represents the first metal-free C(sp2)-CN/C(sp2)-H coupling, affording a new route for the synthesis of various benzo[a]carbazole derivatives with a broad substrate scope, high yields, and simple conditions.

Abstract
Tetrahydrocarbazoles and pyrrolo[3,4-b]carbazoles could be synthesized conveniently through sequential reactions of ester-tethered 1-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles and indoles. The reaction conditions were mild and the procedures were quite simple. Moreover, the key intermediate α,β-unsaturated imine acted as a [2C] synthon in the [4 + 2] cycloaddition reaction, and the imino group could be used as a nucleophile to construct the fourth ring.
