Abstract
Reconstructing the visible spectra of real objects is critical to the spectral camouflage from emerging spectral imaging. Electrochromic materials exhibit unique superiority for this goal due to their subtractive color-mixing model and structural diversity. Herein, a simulation model is proposed and a method is developed to fabricate electrochromic devices for dynamically reproducing the visible spectrum of the natural leaf. Over 20 kinds of pH-dependent leuco dyes have been synthesized/prepared through molecular engineering and offered available spectra/bands to reconstruct the spectrum of the natural leaf. More importantly, the spectral variance between the device and leaf is optimized from an initial 98.9 to an ideal 10.3 through the simulation model, which means, the similarity increased nearly nine-fold. As a promising spectrum reconstruction approach, it will promote the development of smart photoelectric materials in adaptive camouflage, spectral display, high-end encryption, and anti-counterfeiting.

Abstract
Fluorinated phenyl azides (FPA) enable photo-structuring of π-conjugated polymer films for electronic device applications. Despite their potential, FPAs have faced limitations regarding their crosslinking efficiency, and more importantly, their impact on critical semiconductor properties, such as charge-carrier mobility. Here, we report that azide photolysis and photocrosslinking can achieve unity quantum efficiencies for specific FPAs. This suggests preferential nitrene insertion into unactivated C‒H bonds over benzazirine and ketenimine reactions, which we attribute to rapid interconversion between the initially formed hot states. Furthermore, we establish a structure‒activity relationship for carrier mobility quenching. The binding affinity of FPA crosslinker to polymer π-stacks governs its propensity for mobility quenching in both PM6 and PBDB-T used as model conjugated polymers. This binding affinity can be suppressed by FPA ring substitution, but varies in a non-trivial way with π-stack order. Utilizing the optimal FPA, photocrosslinking enables the fabrication of morphology-stabilized, acceptor-infiltrated donor polymer networks (that is, PBDB-T: ITIC and PM6: Y6) for solar cells. Our findings demonstrate the exceptional potential of the FPA photochemistry and offer a promising approach to address the challenges of modelling realistic molecular interactions in complex polymer morphologies, moving beyond the limitations of Flory‒Huggins mean field theory.

Abstract
This work presents a new strategy to achieve a truly black electrochromic film and develop available intelligent eye-protection filters with "day mode" and "night mode", promising to minimize the harmful effects of light on eyes. The soluble red-to-transparent electrochromic polymer P1 was constructed using quinacridone as the basic unit and introduced dual-donor proDOT and DTC units with similar electron-donating capabilities. The beneficial broader absorption associated with the dual-donor in P1 results in ideal spectrum complementarity with P2 (cyan-to-transparent) in the visible region (380-780 nm). In addition to complementary colors, both polymers exhibit good compatibility with respect to electrochemical and electrochromic properties. Therefore, a P1/P2 film with a mass ratio of 1:1.5 for blending is preferred to obtain truly black color with fast switching time and good cyclic stability. Furthermore, an electrochromic device for intelligent eye-protection filters was designed and assembled with the P1/P2 film as the electrochromic layer and P3 featuring a yellow (antiblue ray)-to-dark gray color change as the ion storage layer. The assembled prototype electrochromic device demonstrated promising applications in intelligent day-night optical adjustment for eye-protection filters.

Abstract
This work presents a new strategy to achieve highly stable electrochromic devices and bilayer film construction. A novel solution-processable electrochromic polymer P1-Boc with quinacridone as the conjugated backbone and t-Boc as N-substituted non-conjugated solubilizing groups is designed. Thermal annealing of P1-Boc film results in the cleavage of t-Boc groups and the formation of N─H⋯O═C hydrogen-bonding crosslinked network, which changes its intrinsic solubility characteristics into a solvent-resistant P1 film. This film retains the electrochemical behavior and spectroelectrochemistry properties of the original P1-Boc film. Intriguingly, the electrochromic device based on the P1 film exhibits an ultrafast switching time (0.56/0.80 s at 523 nm) and robust electrochromic stability (retaining 88.4% of the initial optical contrast after 100 000 cycles). The observed cycle lifetime is one of the highest reported for all-organic electrochromic devices. In addition, a black-transparent bilayer electrochromic film P1/P2 is developed in which the use of the solvent-resistant P1 film as the bottom layer avoids interface erosion of the solution-processable polymer in a multilayer stacking.

Abstract
Digital inkjet printing has become one of the most convenient and efficient technologies for coating chromic materials on flexible substrates with complicated patterns. However, the development of water-based, additive-free chromic inks for inkjet printing still remains a challenge. Herein, three ammonium-functionalized colorless viologen derivatives AV, APV, and AQV with excellent water solubilities are utilized as chromes in the chromic inks due to their excellent photochromic and electrochromic properties. Water, ethanol, and ethylene glycol are selected as cosolvents, and their contents in this ternary solvent system have been optimized to achieve comprehensive rheological properties. With the H2O:EtOH:EG weight ratio of 8:1:7, the chromic ink based on AV realizes a viscosity of 4.69 mPa·s, a surface tension of 45.13 mN/m, and a Z value of 3.87. Without adding any additive, the as-prepared chromic inks can be printed on flexible substrates, such as paper and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) films, by a conventional inkjet printer with inherent high resolutions. The printed patterns are initially invisible due to the colorless characteristics of the chromic inks. Interestingly, the printed films are responsive to both light and electric stimuli. Upon irradiation by UV light, a series of sentences with font sizes from 5 to 12 points and four quick response codes with different lattice resolutions clearly appear on the printed paper. Meanwhile, after printing on an indium tin oxide-coated PET substrate, electrochromic devices (ECDs) can be facilely fabricated by covering a hydrogel electrolyte on the printed films. Upon application of different potentials, the assembled ECDs exhibit "Peking Opera facial makeup" patterns with different colors. Therefore, the developed water-based additive-free chromic inks can be utilized for information display and encryption applications.

Abstract
Switchable surfaces play an important role in the development of functional materials. However, the construction of dynamic surface textures remains challenging due to the complicated structural design and surface patterning. Herein, a pruney finger-inspired switchable surface (PFISS) is developed by constructing water-sensitive surface textures on a polydimethylsiloxane substrate by taking advantage of the hygroscopicity of the inorganic salt filler and the 3D printing technology. Like human fingertips, the PFISS shows high water sensitivity with obvious surface variation in wet and dry states, which is actuated by water absorption-desorption of the hydrotropic inorganic salt filler. Besides, when the fluorescent dye is optionally added into the matrix of the surface texture, water-responsive fluorescent emitting is observed, providing a feasible surface-tracing strategy. The PFISS shows effective regulation of the surface friction and performs a good antislip effect. The reported synthetic strategy for the PFISS offers a facile way for building a wide range of switchable surfaces.
