Palladium-Catalyzed E-Selective Oxidative Amination of Aromatic Amine with 3-Butenoic Acid

A palladium-catalyzed oxidative amination of inactive olefins with an aromatic amine was developed using a copper acetate oxidant to yield corresponding secondary and tertiary enamines in moderate to good yields. This new procedure outlines an efficient approach for the construction of enamine skeletons.

The regioselective Wacker oxidation of internal allylamines: synthesis of functionalized and challenging β-amino ketones

A convenient and general protocol for the palladium-catalysed oxidation of internal allylamine derivatives to β-amino ketones is reported. The transformation occurs at room temperature and shows a wide substrate scope as well as high functional group and N-protecting group tolerance. We also describe potential applications of the method, e.g., the synthesis of bioactive molecules or simple transformations of selected β-amino ketones into other interesting building blocks.

Access to 5-bromopentanal and 6-bromohexanal derivatives via the bromination/hydrolysis of C,O-bis-zirconocenes generated from unsaturated Weinreb amides

Access to 5-bromopentanal and 6-bromohexanal derivatives from Weinreb amides is described. The method relies on the sequential C-bromination/zircona-aminal hydrolysis of bis-C,O-zirconocenes, which are generated in situ from unsaturated Weinreb amides using Schwartz's reagent. Synthetic illustrations of such bromo-aldehydes, which can act as carbocycle and heterocycle precursors, are also presented.
