Abstract
The combustion energy and standard molar enthalpy of formation of crystalline 6-phenyl-1,5-diazabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane (PDABH) were determined using an isoperibolic calorimeter with a static bomb. PDABH is the first diaziridine for which the experimental value of the enthalpy of formation was obtained. This value was validated by the theoretical values of gas phase enthalpy of formation and enthalpy of sublimation. The gas phase enthalpy of formation was calculated using the DLPNO-CCSD(T1)/CBS method in conjunction with isodesmic-type reactions. This method was chosen in comparison to another high quality evaluative method (G4), which has been shown to provide unreliable results for cyclic nitrogen containing compounds. The descriptors of the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) were used to estimate the enthalpy of sublimation of PDABH. The proposed MEP model is based on experimental enthalpies of sublimation for 75 compounds structurally similar to PDABH. The high-level ab initio calculations of gas phase enthalpies of formation combined with enthalpies of sublimations estimated using descriptors of MEP allow predicting the enthalpies of formation of diaziridines in the solid phase.

Abstract
Long-term consumption of a high-sugar diet may contribute to the pathogenesis of several chronic diseases, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. Sweet peptides derived from a wide range of food sources can enhance sweet taste without compromising the sensory properties. Therefore, the research and application of sweet peptides are promising strategies for reducing sugar consumption. This work first outlined the necessity for global sugar reduction, followed by the introduction of sweet taste receptors and their associated transduction mechanisms. Subsequently, recent research progress in sweet peptides from different protein sources was summarized. Furthermore, the main methods for the preparation and evaluation of sweet peptides were presented. In addition, the current challenges and potential applications are also discussed. Sweet peptides can stimulate sweetness perception by binding sweet taste receptors T1R2 and T1R3 in taste buds, which is an effective strategy for reducing sugar consumption. At present, sweet peptides are mainly prepared artificially by synthesis, hydrolysis, microbial fermentation, and bioengineering strategies. Furthermore, sensory evaluation, electronic tongues, and cell models have been used to assess the sweet taste intensity. The present review can provide a theoretical reference for reducing sugar consumption with the aid of sweet peptides in the food industry.

Abstract
Facing the sudden outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), it is extremely urgent to develop effective antiviral drugs against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Drug repurposing is a promising strategy for the treatment of COVID-19. To identify the precise target protein of marketed medicines, we initiate a chemical biological program to identify precise target of potential antivirus drugs. In this study, two types of recombinant human coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 RdRp protein capturing probes with various photoaffinity labeling units were designed and synthesized based on the structure of FDA-approved drugs stavudine, remdesivir, acyclovir, and aladenosine. Fortunately, it was found that one novel photoaffinity probe, RD-1, could diaplayed good affinity with SARS-CoV-2 RdRp around the residue ARG_553. In addition, RD-1 probe also exhibited potent inhibitory activity against 3CLpro protease. Taken together, our findings will elucidate the structural basis for the efficacy of marketed drugs, and explore a rapid and efficient strategy of drug repurposing based on the identification of new targets. Moreover, these results could also provide a scientific basis for the clinical application of marketed drugs.

Abstract
Three-membered-ring scaffolds of carbocycles, namely, cyclopropanes and cyclopropenes, are ubiquitous in natural products and pharmaceutical molecules. These molecules exhibit a peculiar reactivity, and their applications as synthetic intermediates and versatile building blocks in organic synthesis have been extensively studied over the past century. The incorporation of heteroatoms into three-membered cyclic structures has attracted significant attention, reflecting fundamental differences in their electronic/geometric structures and reactivities compared to their carbon congeners and their associated potential for exploitation in applications. Recently, the chemistry of low-valent aluminum species, alumylenes, dialumenes, and aluminyl anions, has dramatically developed, which has allowed access to hitherto unprecedented aluminacycles. This Perspective focuses upon advances in the chemistry of three-membered aluminacycles, including their synthetic protocols, spectroscopic and structural properties, and reactivity toward various substrates and small molecules.

Abstract
It is nowadays widely accepted that sweet taste perception is elicited by the activation of the heterodimeric complex T1R2-T1R3, customarily known as sweet taste receptor (STR). However, the interplay between STR and sweeteners has not yet been fully clarified. Here through a methodology coupling molecular dynamics and the independent gradient model (igm) approach we determine the main interacting signatures of the closed (active) conformation of the T1R2 Venus flytrap domain (VFD) toward aspartame. The igm methodology provides a rapid and reliable quantification of noncovalent interactions through a score (Δginter) based on the attenuation of the electronic density gradient when two molecular fragments approach each other. Herein, this approach is coupled to a 100 ns molecular dynamics simulation (MD-igm) to explore the ligand-cavity contacts on a per-residue basis as well as a series of key inter-residue interactions that stabilize the closed form of VFD. We also apply an atomic decomposition scheme of noncovalent interactions to quantify the contribution of the ligand segments to the noncovalent interplay. Finally, a series of structural modification on aspartame are conducted in order to obtain guidelines for the rational design of novel sweeteners. Given that innovative methodologies to reliably quantify the extent of ligand-protein coupling are strongly demanded, this approach combining a noncovalent analysis and MD simulations represents a valuable contribution, that can be easily applied to other relevant biomolecular systems.
