Abstract
As a crucial endogenous reactive oxygen species, hypochlorous acid (HClO) plays an indispensable role in numerous physiological and pathological processes. Additionally, it serves as a biomarker closely associated with inflammation and liver injury. The utilization of near-infrared fluorescence probes has surged in recent years for live biological imaging, owing to their minimal tissue damage and potent tissue penetration capabilities. In this work, a novel near-infrared fluorescence probe MB-HPD was synthesized to sensitively detect HClO. Probe MB-HPD exhibits remarkable selectivity, high sensitivity (14.3 nM), and rapid response towards HClO (20 s). Probe MB-HPD has demonstrated successful application in the imaging of HClO within cells and zebrafish. Remarkably, it has proven to be effective for detecting HClO within environmental samples, as well as imaging HClO in mice models of arthritis and APAP-induced liver injury. These findings indicate the broad applicability of probe MB-HPD, offering a promising avenue for designing highly selective near-infrared fluorescence probes suitable for real-time HClO monitoring.

Abstract
A selective and sensitive fluorescence method for hypochlorite (ClO-) was designed using glutathione (GSH) modified silicon-doped carbon quantum dots (GSH@Si-CDs). Then a dual emission ratio fluorescence probe (RF-probe) was obtained based on carbodiimide-activated coupling reaction between GSH and Si-CDs. i.e., when the excitation wavelength was kept at 360 nm, the GSH@Si-CDs exhibited strong blue and weak yellow fluorescence at 430 and 580 nm. Meanwhile, the fluorescence of GSH@Si-CDs could be selectively quenched at 430 nm and enhanced at 580 nm in the presence of ClO-, and corresponding limit of detection (LOD) and linear range were measured to be 0.35 µM and 1.0-33.3 µM. The sensing mechanism of the system was also investigated in detail. Moreover, the RF-probe with good accuracy was successfully employed to monitor ClO- in real samples with satisfactory results compared to the standard iodometric method.

Abstract
Cellulose is the most abundant natural polymer with good biocompatibility and easy modification characteristics. In this paper, a novel cellulose fluorescence probe CNS for detecting ClO- was prepared by modifying microcrystalline cellulose (MCC). The fluorescence detection results indicate that CNS exhibits a highly specific "ratiometric" and "colorimetric" fluorescence response to ClO-. In the presence of ClO-, the fluorescence color changes from green to cyan. In addition, the color of the solution changes from yellow to colorless, which can be observed with the "naked eye". Considering the good selectivity and anti-interference ability of CNS, the probe can be used for the detection of ClO- in real water samples. Importantly, CNS composite films and test papers were prepared and showed practicability in the detection of ClO-, highlighting its broad application potentials.

Abstract
The generation and presence of excessive hypochlorous acid derivative ionic form (ClO-) could cause various diseases, such as arteriosclerosis, DNA damage, and cardiovascular illness. It is a critical need to develop a highly sensitive sensor for reliable detection of ClO- in cells and water-soluble systems. In this work, a hydroxyl group has been introduced into the compound 2-amino-3-(((E)-4-(2-(2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl)-1,3-dioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzo[de]isoquinolin-6-yl)benzylidene)amino)maleonitrile (NDC) to increase its solubility in water, at the same time, the hydrazone unit was designed as a specific recognition group for the "off-on" fluorescence probe of ClO-. The probe NDC presents high selectivity, sensitivity, anti-interference, and low detection limit (67 nM) for ClO-. The recognition mechanism that ClO- breaks the C=N bond and forms the fluorescent compound 4-(2-(2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethyl)-1,3-dioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzo[de]isoquinolin-6-yl)benzaldehyde (ND-3) has been confirmed by time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The probe NDC presents a good performance in the actual test of water samples and can be designed as the test papers for the quick and convenient detection of ClO- range from 0 to 1 μM. Moreover, the practical application was demonstrated by the successful imaging of endogenous and exogenous ClO- in HeLa cells. Our fluorescent biomass-based platform opens vast possibilities for repeatability, sensitivity, and selectivity detection of ClO- in cells and water-soluble systems.

Abstract
A ratiometric fluorescent probe (MeO-CNPPV Pdots) based on the principle of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) was designed for hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) detection. The presence of HOCl can block the energy transfer from CNPPV to MeOTPATBT, resulting in a ratio change in the fluorescence of Pdots (I600 nm/I680 nm). This strategy provides a valuable paradigm in early RA evaluation.

Abstract
Hypochlorous acid (HClO) is a reactive oxygen species and a relatively strong antibacterial substance in the immune defense system. The normal concentration of HClO in the human body is approximately 200 μM, and its high concentration can cause tissue damage and some diseases. Herein, a chromenoquinoline-based ratiometric fluorescent probe was developed to detect and quantify HClO. The developed Probe 1 exhibited the advantages of large Stokes shift (137 nm), high synthetic yield (84.7 %), simple synthesis method, short response time (<4 min), low detection limit (5.1 nM), and low toxicity. The probe was successfully validated in live cells and zebrafish.

Abstract
The adoption of chlorine in drinking water disinfection with the determination of residual chlorine in the form of hypochlorite ion (ClO-) is in widespread demand. Several sensors including colorimetric, fluorometric, and electrochemical methods are currently in use, but detection limits and ease of application remain a challenge. In this work, two new cyanine derivatives-based ClO- sensors, that were prepared by solvent-free microwave synthesis, are reported. The two sensors are highly sensitive and selective to ClO-, exhibiting a noticeable color change visible to the naked eye. Additionally, the sensors can detect ClO- without interference from other potential water pollutants, with low detection limits of 7.43 ppb and 0.917 ppb based on absorption performance. When using fluorometric methods, the sensors' detection limits are pushed down to 0.025 ppb and 0.598 ppb for sensors I and II, respectively. The sensors can be loaded with paper strips for field and domestic detection of ClO- in tap water treatment installations. Using the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique, these sensors showed strong detection sensitivity to ClO-, with detection limits of 0.256 ppm and 0.09 ppm for sensors I and II, respectively. Quantum chemical studies using density functional theory (DFT) calculations, natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, molecular electrostatic potential (MESP), and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) supported the findings. The sensing mechanism is rationalized in terms of radical cation formation upon ClO- oxidation of cyanine sensors I and II.

Abstract
An inorganic-organic hybrid probe MP-ZIF-90 was synthesized via a simple condensation reaction based on the free CHO groups of zeolitic imidazolate framework-90 (ZIF-90) and 4-methyl-1-(4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzyl)pyridinium bromide (MP). This probe exhibited intense green emission, which was selectively quenched by the addition of ClO- anions. The response of probe MP-ZIF-90 toward ClO- was rapid (within 20 s) and sensitive, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.612 μM. Importantly, the utilization of the probe in the fluorescence imaging of ClO- anions in the mitochondria of living cells and zebrafish was demonstrated.

Abstract
Over the past few decades, drug-induced liver damage (DILI) has become a serious public health problem due to drug abuse. Among multifarious reactive oxygen species, mounting evidence attests that ClO- has been used as a potential biomarker in DILI. In this work, a new "turn-on" fluorescent probe 1 was designed and synthesized by modifying 4'-hydroxybiphenyl-4-carbonitrile (dye 2) with N, N-dimethylthiocarbamate as a response site for detecting ClO-. Probe 1 displayed a low detection limit (72 nM), fast response time (30 s), wide pH operating range (6-8), great tissue penetration, large Stokes shift (125 nm) and 291-fold fluorescence enhancement at 475 nm in the mapping of ClO-. Probe 1 could trace amounts of exogenous and endogenous ClO- with high sensitivity in MCF-7 cells and HeLa cells. Expectantly, the fluoxetine-induced liver injury model is successfully established, and probe 1 has been used for detecting the fluctuation of ClO- levels in the mouse model of fluoxetine-induced liver injury. All in all, probe 1 with its high specificity, good biological compatibility and liver tissue penetration ability is expected to assist with the early diagnosis of DILI and the clinical screening of various new drugs. We expect that probe 1 could be efficiently used as a powerful molecular tool to predict clinical DILI and explore molecular mechanisms between molecules and disease.

Abstract
Hypochlorite (ClO-) plays an important role in the human immune defense system, but high concentrations of ClO- in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) damage cellular proteins, causing ER stress, cell death, and various diseases. Herein, we developed a simple hydrazone probe (1) featuring aggregation-induced ratiometric emission, which would quickly (within 20 s) and sensitively (detection limit of 15.4 μM) respond to ClO- in an almost pure aqueous solution via a fluorescent ratiometric output. Furthermore, the probe was employed to track the level of ClO- in the ER of HeLa cells and zebrafish.
