Abstract
Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is the most common pesticide entering the food chain and posing a threat to human health. This study presents a new electrochemical biosensor based on molybdenum disulfide nanosheets and nitrogen-doped carbon dot nanocomposite (MoS2@N-CDs) and kidney bean esterase (KdBE), and it is shown to achieve accurate detection of CPF. MoS2@N-CDs were prepared by a facile solvothermal method and characterized by electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Electrochemical characterization confirmed that MoS2@N-CDs facilitated electron transfer and increased the electroactive surface area of the electrode, thereby improved the sensing performance of the electrode. The oxidation peak current of 1-naphthol, which was produced by the hydrolysis of 1-naphthyl acetate catalyzed by KdBE, was adopted as the signal of the sensor. CPF can suppress KdBE activity and consequently cause a decrease in the sensing signal. The experimental results show that the variation of sensing signal is a reliable index to evaluate the CPF level. Under the optimized conditions, the developed enzyme sensor showed superior CPF assay performance with a linear detection range as wide as 0.01-500 μg L-1 and LOD as low as 3.5 × 10-3 μg L-1 (S/N = 3). The inter- and intra-batch RSDs for electrode testing were 4.02% and 2.69%, respectively. Moreover, the developed biosensor also showed good stability and anti-interference. The spiked recoveries of CPF in oilseed rape and cabbage ranged from 98.09% to 106.01% with low relative standard deviation (RSD) (<5.23%), suggesting that the sensor is a promising tool to enable simple, low-cost but highly sensitive large-scale screening of CPF residues in food.

Abstract
Enabling the detection of organophosphate pesticide (OP) residues through enzyme inhibition-based technology is crucial for ensuring food safety and human health. However, the use of acetylcholinesterase, the primary target enzyme for OPs, isolated from animals in practical production poses challenges in terms of sensitivity and batch stability. To address this issue, we identified a highly sensitive and reproducible biorecognition element, TrxA-PvCarE1, derived from red kidney beans and successfully overexpressed it in Escherichia coli. The resulting recombinant TrxA-PvCarE1 exhibited remarkable sensitivity toward 10 OPs, surpassing that of commercial acetylcholinesterase. Additionally, this approach demonstrated the capability to simultaneously detect copper compounds with high sensitivity, expanding the range of pesticides detectable using the traditional enzyme inhibition method. Spiking recovery tests conducted on cowpea and carrot samples verified the suitability of the TrxA-PvCarE1-based technique for real-life sample analysis. In summary, this study highlights a promising comprehensive candidate for the rapid detection of pesticide residues.

Abstract
Excessive use of pesticides could potentially harm the environment for a long time. The reason for this is that the banned pesticide is still likely to be used incorrectly. Carbofuran and other banned pesticides that remain in the environment may also have a negative effect on human beings. In order to provide a better chance for effective environmental screening, this thesis describes a prototype of a photometer tested with cholinesterase to potentially detect pesticides in the environment. The open-source portable photodetection platform uses a color-programmable red, green and blue light-emitting diode (RGB LED) as a light source and a TSL230R light frequency sensor. Acetylcholinesterase from Electrophorus electricus (AChE) with high similarity to human AChE was used for biorecognition. The Ellman method was selected as a standard method. Two analytical approaches were applied: (1) subtraction of the output values after a certain period of time and (2) comparison of the slope values of the linear trend. The optimal preincubation time for carbofuran with AChE was 7 min. The limits of detection for carbofuran were 6.3 nmol/L for the kinetic assay and 13.5 nmol/L for the endpoint assay. The paper demonstrates that the open alternative for commercial photometry is equivalent. The concept based on the OS3P/OS3P could be used as a large-scale screening system.

Abstract
Pesticides are a large group of pristine organic contaminants, which are widely discharged into environmental water due to agricultural activities. Hence, extraction, determination, and removal of pesticides from water resources are necessary for human health. In this study, novel adsorbent was developed based on three-dimensional magnetic graphene coated with gold nanoparticles (3D-MG@AuNPs) for extraction of chlorpyrifos, dicrotophos, fenitrothion, and piperophos as four specific organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) from wastewater and tap water samples. The proposed nanocomposite was characterized; FTIR and EDX are performed for the expected functional groups and elemental analysis, SEM showed the unique and spherical AuNPs are well dispersed over graphene sheets. In this investigation, the important parameters that have effect on the extraction efficiency, including the desorbing solvent, desorbing solvent volume, vortex time, the extraction time, adsorbent dosage, pH of sample solutions, and salt effect were evaluated. In conclusion, the measured amounts of the chosen OPPs were determined using the gas chromatography microelectron capture (μECD-GC) method. Limits of quantification (S/N ratio of 10) and detection (S/N ratio of 3) were attained at concentrations of 0.26-0.43 μg.L-1 and 0.08-0.14 μg.L-1, respectively. According to the results of the investigations, the synthesized 3D-MG@AuNPs did not require any complicated sample preparation methods; therefore, it is a very good choice for solid magnetic phase extraction studies.

Abstract
The presence of organic pollutants in water and food samples is a risk for the environment. To avoid this hazard a variety of analytical tools are used for the detection of toxic organic contaminants. Herein we present a selective and sensitive electrochemical sensor based on amino group functionalized multi walled carbon nanotubes and carboxylic group functionalized multi walled carbon nanotubes (HOOC-fMWCNTs/NH2-fMWCNTs) as modifiers of the glassy carbon electrode for the detection of a toxic dye, Rhodamine B. The sensing ability of the designed sensor was examined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry. The synergistic effect of HOOC-fMWCNTs and NH2-fMWCNTs (layer by layer) led to enhanced electrocatalytic activity of the modified electrode surface for Rhodamine B detection. Under optimized conditions, the graph between concentration and peak current followed a linear trend in the concentration range of 0.1 nM to 0.05 μM. The limits of detection and quantification were found to be 57.4 pM and 191.3 pM respectively. The designed sensor was also used for probing the degradation of Rhodamine B. Sodium borohydride was found to degrade Rhodamine B in neutral media under ambient conditions. The kinetics of degradation followed first order kinetics. Rhodamine B degraded to the extent of more than 80% as revealed by electrochemical and spectrophotometric techniques. The developed method is promising for the treatment of dye contaminated wastewater. Moreover, it uses only a microliter volume of the sample for analysis.
