Temperature-dependent photoluminescence of novel Eu3+, Tb3+, and Dy3+ doped LaCa4O(BO3)3: Insights at low and room temperatures

This study explores the structural and optical qualities of LaCa4O(BO3)3 (LACOB) phosphors doped with Eu3+, Dy3+, and Tb3+ using a microwave-assisted sol-gel technique. It uncovers oxygen-related luminescence defects in LACOB, highlighting emission peaks at 489 and 585 nm for Dy3+, a distinct sharp peak at 611 nm for Eu3+ in the red spectrum, and a notable green emission for Tb3+ due to specific transitions. The photoluminescence (PL) analysis indicates that luminescence is optimized through precise doping, leveraging dipole interactions, and localized resonant energy transfer, which are influenced by dopant concentration and spatial configuration. Temperature studies show emission intensity variations, particularly noticeable below 100 K for Tb3+ doped samples, demonstrating the nuanced balance between thermal quenching and luminescence efficiency. This temperature dependency, alongside the identified optimal doping conditions, underscores the potential of these materials for advanced photonic applications, offering insights into their thermal behavior and emission mechanisms under different conditions.

Enantioselective copper-catalyzed B-H bond insertion reaction of α-diazo phosphonates to access chiral α-boryl phosphonates

Chiral phosphorus-containing compounds find applications across various fields, including asymmetric catalysis, medicinal chemistry, and materials science. Despite the abundance of reported highly enantioselective methods for synthesizing various chiral phosphorus compounds, the enantioselective synthesis of α-boryl phosphorus compounds still remains an unknown territory. Here, we report a method for the construction of chiral α-boryl phosphates by asymmetric B-H insertion reaction using α-diazo phosphates as carbene precursors, cheap and readily available copper salt as the catalyst and chiral oxazoline as the ligand. This method can directly afford a series of stable α-boryl phosphates with a yield up to 97% and an enantioselectivity up to 98% ee. The operating procedure of this method is straightforward, offering a broad substrate applicability, remarkable tolerance towards various functional groups, and gentle reaction conditions.

"Homoleptic" Tetracoordinate Boron Compounds

"Homoleptic" tetracoordinate boron compounds, in which the central boron atom links to four identical atoms, are a special and important family of boron compounds. During the past decades, they have been extensively employed in inorganic, organic, macromolecular, and materials chemistry. Many of them exhibit a diverse range of outstanding properties, and therefore, the synthesis and application of those compounds have emerged as a hot research topic in modern boron chemistry. This review summarizes and discusses the "homoleptic" tetracoordinate boron compounds, which are organized according to the kinds of atoms coordinated to the central boron.

Neoteric Advances in Oxygen Bridged Triaryl Boron-based Delayed Fluorescent Materials for Organic Light Emitting Diodes

Since their first demonstration, thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials have been emerged as the most promising emitters because of their promising applications in optoelectronics, typified by organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). In which, the rigid oxygen bridged boron acceptor-featured (DOBNA) emitters have gained tremendous impetus for OLEDs, which is ascribed to their excellent external quantum efficiency (EQE). However, these materials often displayed severe efficiency roll-off and poor operational stability. Therefore, there needs to be a comprehensive understanding of the aspect of the molecular design and structure-property relationship. To the best of our knowledge, there is no detailed review on the structure-function outlook of DOBNA-based emitters emphasizing the effect of the nature of donor units, their number density, and substitution pattern on the physicochemical properties, excited state dynamics and OLED performance were reported. To fill this gap, herein we presented the recent advancements in DOBNA-based acceptor featured TADF materials by classifying them into several subgroups based on the molecular design i. e. donor-acceptor (D-A), D-A-D, A-D-A, and multi-resonant TADF (MR-TADF) emitters. The detailed design concepts, along with their respective physicochemical and OLED performances were summarized. Finally, the prospective of this class of materials in forthcoming OLED displays is also discussed.

Stereoselective formation of boron-stereogenic organoboron derivatives

Four-coordinate organoboron derivatives present interesting chemical, physical, biological, electronical, and optical properties. Given the increasing demand for the synthesis of smart functional materials based on chiral organoboron compounds, the exploration of stereoselective synthesis of boron-stereogenic organo-derivatives is highly desirable. However, the stereoselective construction of organoboron compounds stereogenic at boron has been far less studied than other elements of the main group due to configurational stability concerns. Nowadays, these species are no longer elusive and configurationally stable compounds have been highlighted. The idea is to show the potential of the stereoselective building of the four-coordinate boron centre and encourage future endeavors and developments in the field.
