Abstract
A general and efficient method for the synthesis of various selanyl phenanthrenes/polycyclic heteroaromatics through the electrophilic annulation of 2-alkynyl biaryls with diorganyl diselenides under metal-free and mild conditions was established. The sulfanyl phenanthrene was also obtained in moderate yields.

Abstract
A practical and metal-free approach for the regioselective selenation of chromones employing Selectfluor reagent under mild conditions is described. The developed method is suitable for a wide substrate scope and affords 3-selenylated chromones in good to excellent yield with high selectivity. An ionic mechanism is proposed for this transformation. Furthermore, the application of potassium thiocyanate with enaminones for the synthesis of thiocyano chromones in this transformation is also successful.

Abstract
A convenient and efficient visible-light-induced method has been developed for the construction of sulfonated and selenylated indolo[1,2-a]quinolines through sulfonyl or selenyl radical-initiated tandem cyclization of unactivated alkynes with sodium sulfinates or diaryl diselenides under mild conditions. This protocol, which simply utilizes visible light as the safe and eco-friendly energy source and an inexpensive and nontoxic organic dye as a photocatalyst without the aid of an external photocatalyst, provides various sulfonyl- and selenyl-containing indolo[1,2-a]quinolines in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
A Selectfluor-promoted oxidative coupling of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with alcohols, amines, thiols, and selenols leading to the formation of C-O, C-N, C-S, and C-Se bonds has been developed. The protocol provided good to excellent (53-95%) yields of a wide range of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones decorated with alkoxy, alkylamino, alkylthio, and arylselenyl groups at the C3-position under metal- and photocatalyst-free conditions. The reaction is believed to proceed through a radical pathway. A broad substrate scope including bioactive molecules, mild reaction conditions, readily available coupling partners, high yields, scalability, step-economy, and metal- and photocatalyst-free conditions are the highlighting features of the method. The synthetic utility of the developed protocol was demonstrated by gram-scale synthesis, C3-alkoxylation of quinoxaline-2(1H)-one with natural alcohols, and synthesis of aldose reductase (ALR2) inhibitor and histamine-4 receptor antagonist in good yields.

Abstract
An unprecedented copper-catalyzed ipso-annulation reaction of N-(p-methoxyaryl)propiolamides with 1,3-diketones has been developed, which enables the assembly of diketoalkylated spiro[4.5]trienones involving oxidative dearomatization in the presence of ammonium persulfate [(NH4)2S2O8] as the oxidant. This protocol was extended to biaryl ynones, efficiently affording the diketoalkylated spiro[5.5]trienones in good yields. The significance of the diketoalkyl functionality has been illustrated by further transformation into 3-pyrazoyl spiro-trienone, a structurally unique motif.
