Abstract
In the present study, the mechanism, origin of chemoselectivity, and substituent effects of the phosphine-catalyzed ring-opening reaction of cyclopropyl ketone have been investigated using the DFT method. Multiple pathways, including the formation of hydrofluorenone, the Cloke-Wilson product, and cyclopenta-fused product, were studied and compared. The computational results show that the pathway for the formation of hydrofluorenone is the most favorable one, which involves four processes: nucleophilic substitution to open the three-membered ring, an intramolecular Michael addition for the formation of an enolate intermediate, an intramolecular [1,5]-proton transfer to give ylide, and an intramolecular Wittig reaction to deliver the final product. For disclosing the origin of chemoselectivity, structural analysis and local reactivity index analysis were performed. Moreover, substituent effects were also considered using QTAIM analysis. The current study would provide useful insights for understanding phosphine-catalyzed chemoselective reactions.

Abstract
We present a novel set of frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) systems that exhibit a remarkable ability to promote the ring opening of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes (DACs). This FLP-promoted protocol offers umpolung reactivity of R1R2PCl/CN (R1, R2 = aryl, alkyl) toward DACs via nucleophilic ring-opening reactions to provide phosphinated boron-pendanted diester compounds. This novel approach exhibits the dual role of BF3·OEt2 as an activator and a reactant. The resulting compounds were found in both the keto and enol forms, with the majority being in the keto form, according to NMR analysis. The enol form was identified by single-crystal XRD analysis, and DFT calculations indicated that the keto form is more stable than the corresponding enol form.

Abstract
We have developed a highly efficient base- and additive-free chemoselective CuO-catalyzed strategy for the O-arylation of 2-oxindoles to synthesize 2-phenoxy-3H-indole and 2-phenoxy-1H-indole derivatives in the presence of diaryl iodonium salts. This method offers a variety of O-arylated oxindoles in good to excellent yields under relatively milder reaction conditions. Furthermore, this methodology was extended for the O-arylation of 2-pyridinone and isoindoline-1-one derivatives as well.

Abstract
The (3 + 2) cycloaddition/sulfur rearrangement reaction of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes bearing a single keto acceptor with indoline-2-thiones has been realized. Under the catalysis of Sn(OTf)2, a series of functionalized 3-indolyl-4,5-dihydrothiophenes were synthesized with moderate to excellent yields.

Abstract
AlCl3-mediated nucleophilic ring-opening reactions of indoline-2-thiones with various acyl cyclopropanes, bi-cyclopropanes and spirocyclic cyclopropanes were investigated. A series of ketones functionalized with indolylthio groups were synthesized in yields ranging from moderate to good. Moreover, chemical transformations of 4-indolylthio butan-1-ones to dihydro-2H-thiepino[2,3-b]indoles and sulfone were carried out to further expand both synthetic utility and structural complexity.

Abstract
The merger of two bifunctional moieties, 2-alkynylaniline and alkynylnitriles, in the presence of ZnBr2 offers the tunable synthesis of two biologically important motifs: acrylonitrile indoles and 3-cyanoquinolines. The group present on the terminal alkyne of 2-alkynylaniline regulates the reaction pathways, intra- versus intermolecular, which thereby adds stereoselectivity and regioselectivity in this protocol. The conversion of an acrylonitrile indole ring to quinoline is an intriguing synthetic utility of this methodology.

Abstract
A new methodology for the synthesis of N-haloindole-fused dihydrothiopyrano derivatives via (3 + 3)-annulation of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes (DACs) with indoline-2-thiones in the presence of Sc(OTf)3 as a Lewis acid catalyst has been developed. This protocol provides a variety of indole-fused dihydrothiopyrano molecules in good to excellent yields, which architecturally resemble other indole-fused tricyclic molecules having potential medicinal value. In addition, we have described a detailed reaction mechanism and transformation of the furnished product into N-fused thiazino indole molecule.
