Abstract
Interaction of AgCl with bis(diphenylphosphino)methane (dppm) in THF/MeCN in the presence of K[PF6] or [Et4N]Br afforded typical trinuclear cationic trigonal-bipyramidal complexes [Ag3(μ
3-Cl)2(μ-dppm)3][PF6] (1) or [Ag3(μ
3-Br)2(μ-dppm)3][AgBr2] (2), respectively. Treatment of AgBr with bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe) in THF/MeCN in the presence of [Et4N]Br gave a polymeric complex {[Et4N][Ag2(μ-Br)3(μ-dppe)]}
n
(3) with a dinuclear {Ag2(μ-Br)3} core. The reaction of AgCl with dppe or bis(diphenylphosphino)propane (dppp) in THF/MeCN in the presence of [Et4N]Cl resulted in the isolation of a dinuclear anionic complex [Et4N]2[(AgCl2)2(μ-dppe)] (4) with one μ-dppe bridge or a dinuclear neutral complex [(AgCl)2(μ-dppp)2] (5) with two μ-dppp bridges and a 12-membered ring, respectively. The structures of complexes 1–5 with the bidentate phosphine ligands were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

Abstract
Silver(I) complexes of several thiolates have been prepared. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis and 13C NMR spectroscopy. All the Ag(I)-thiolate complexes are polymeric in nature. Therefore, 13C CP MAS NMR is being used extensively to analyze the binding site of the ligand and the nature of complexation. A significant shift difference was observed for S binding site whereas smaller shift was observed for carboxylate binding site. The antimicrobial activities for Ag(I)-glutathione complex was measured and compared with Ag(I)-captopril complex.

Abstract
Two water-soluble, silver(I) complexes showing a wide spectrum of effective antibacterial and antifungal activities, i.e., ([Ag(Hhis)].0.2EtOH)2 (1; H2his = L-histidine) and [Ag(Hpyrrld)]2 (3; H2pyrrld = (S)-(-)-2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid) were prepared. In aqueous solution 1 and 3 were present as dimers, whereas in the solid state they were polymers. Crystallization of 1 by slow evaporation and/or vapor diffusion gave water-insoluble crystals of [Ag(Hhis)]n (2) showing modest antimicrobial activities. The complex 1 in the solid state is a polymer formed by intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions between dimeric [Ag(Hhis)]2 cores, while 2 is a different polymer without a core complex. X-ray crystallography revealed that 2 was a left-handed helical polymer consisting of a bent, 2-coordinate silver(I) atom bonding to the Namino atom of one Hhis- ligand and the N pi atom of a different Hhis- ligand. Of particular note is the fact that Ocarboxyl atoms do not participate in the coordination. X-ray crystallography also revealed that 3 was a left-handed helical polymer formed by self-assembly of dimeric [Ag(Hpyrrld)]2 cores with an intramolecular metal(I)-metal(I) interaction (Ag-Ag distance, 2.9022(7) A). The FT-IR and the solid-state 13C and 15N NMR spectra showed that the dimeric core of 1 was formed through Ag-N bonds, while that of 3 was formed through Ag-O bonds. The molecular ions of 1 and 3 were detected by the positive-ion electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry. For 1-3, characterization by elemental analysis, TG/DTA, FT-IR, and variable-temperature solid-state 13C NMR and room-temperature 15N NMR measurements was performed, and for 1 and 3, that by solution molecular weight measurements and solution (109Ag, 1H, and 13C) NMR spectroscopies was also carried out. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of 1 and 3 were remarkable and comparable to those of the previous silver(I)-N-heterocycle complexes.

Abstract
Copper(I)-dppm complexes encapsulating the oxyanions ClO(4)(-), NO(3)(-), CH(3)C(6)H(4)CO(2)(-), SO(4)(2-), and WO(4)(2-) have been synthesized either by reduction of the corresponding Cu(II) salts and treatment with dppm, or by treating the complex [Cu(2)(dppm)(2)(dmcn)(3)](BF(4))(2) (1) (dmcn = dimethyl cyanamide) with the respective anion. The isolated complexes [Cu(2)(dppm)(2)(dmcn)(2)(ClO(4))] (ClO(4)) (2), [Cu(2)(dppm)(2)(dmcn)(2)(NO(3))] (NO(3)) (3), Cu(2)(dppm)(2)(NO(3))(2) (4), [Cu(2)(dppm)(2)(CH(3)C(6)H(4)CO(2))(2)]dmcn.2THF (5), Cu(2)(dppm)(2)(SO(4)) (6), and [Cu(3)(dppm)(3)(Cl)(WO(4))] 0.5H(2)O (7) have been characterized by IR, (1)H and (31)P{(1)H} NMR, UV-vis, and emission spectroscopy. The solid-state molecular structure of complexes 1, 2, 4, and 7 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Pertinent crystal data are as follows: for 1, monoclinic P2(1)/c, a = 11.376(10) Å, b = 42.503(7) Å, c = 13.530(6) Å, beta = 108.08(2) degrees, V = 6219(3) Å(3), Z = 4; for 2, monoclinic P2(1)/n, a = 21.600(3) Å, b = 12.968(3) Å, c = 23.050(3) Å, beta = 115.97(2) degrees, V = 5804(17) Å(3), Z = 4; for 4, triclinic P&onemacr;, a = 10.560(4) Å, b = 10.553(3) Å, c = 22.698(3) Å, alpha = 96.08(2) degrees, beta = 96.03(2) degrees, gamma = 108.31(2) degrees, V = 2362(12) Å(3), Z = 2; and for 7, orthorhombic P2(1)2(1)2(1), a = 14.407(4) Å, b = 20.573(7) Å, c = 24.176(6) Å, V = 7166(4) Å(3), Z = 4. Analyses of the crystallographic and spectroscopic data of these complexes reveal the nature of interactions between the Cu(I)-dppm core and oxyanion. The anchoring of the oxyanion to the Cu(n)()(dppm)(n)() unit is primarily through coordination to the metal, but the noncovalent C-H.O interactions between the methylene and phenyl protons of the dppm and oxygen atoms of the oxyanion play a significant role. The solid-state emission spectra for complexes 1-6 are very similar but different from 7. In CDCl(3) solution, addition of ClO(4)(-) or NO(3)(-) (as their tetrabutylammonium salts) to 1 establishes a rapid equilibrium between the anion-complexed and uncomplexed forms. The association constant values for ClO(4)(-) and NO(3)(-) have been estimated from the (31)P{(1)H} NMR spectra.

Abstract
The electrochemical oxidation of anodic indium metal in an acetonitrile solution of phosphinothiol ligands affords [In{2-(Ph(2)P)C(6)H(4)S}(3)] (1), [In{2-(Ph(2)P)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)S)}(2){2-(Ph(2)PO)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)S}] (2), [In{2-(Ph(2)PO)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)S}(3)] (3), and [NMe(4)][In{PhP(C(6)H(4)S-2)(2)}(2)].CH(3)CN (4) complexes exhibiting distorted six-coordinate geometries based on {InS(3)P(3)}, {InS(3)P(2)O}, and {InS(4)P(2)} cores, respectively. In all cases, the In-P bond distances are anomalously long, presumably as a consequence of steric crowding. The anion of 4 provides an unusual example of an In(III)-thiolate coordination complex ion. Abstract
Silver complexes of the anionic forms of 2-(diphenylphosphino)benzenethiol [2-(Ph(2)P)C(6)H(4)SH] (1), 2-(diphenylphosphino)-6-(trimethylsilyl)benzenethiol [2-(Ph(2)P)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)SH] (2), and 2-(diphenylphosphinyl)-6-(trimethylsilyl)benzenethiol [2-(Ph(2)PO)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)SH] (3) have been prepared by an electrochemical procedure and characterized by spectroscopic (IR, (1)H, (13)C, and (31)P NMR) methods, and ligand 3 and [Ag(4){2-(Ph(2)P)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)S}(4)] (5) and [Ag(4){2-(Ph(2)PO)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)S}(4)] (6) complexes were characterized by X-ray crystallographic techniques. Crystal data for 3: C(21)H(23)OPSSi, monoclinic, P2(1)/n, a = 11.3730(4) Å, b = 11.1562(4) Å, c = 17.1153(6) Å, beta = 103.961(1) degrees, V = 2107.4(1) Å(3), Z = 4, 2730 reflections with I(o) > 2sigma(I(o)), R = 0.0621. The [Ag(4){2-(Ph(2)P)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)S}(4)] (5) compound is tetranuclear with an array of four silver atoms bridged by four sulfur atoms. Each silver atom has a distorted trigonal [AgS(2)P] environment with each ligand acting as P,S bidentate S-bridging ligand. The [Ag(4)(2-(Ph(2)PO)-6-(Me(3)Si)C(6)H(3)S}(4)] (6) complex is also tetranuclear, but in this case two of the silver atoms are [AgO(2)S(2)] tetracoordinated and the other two Ag atoms are [AgS(2)] two coordinated.
