Abstract
Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is a malignant tumor type. Fever is the most common postoperative complication of COAD. The present study described the treatment of a patient with early-stage COAD with precancerous colon polyps and the possible cause of postoperative fever. The patient was a 48-year-old woman with intermittent hematochezia, defecation urgency and liquid feces. The patient received surgical treatment, a whole segment from the intestine was removed, which contained a 4-cm-long mass and a 2-cm-long firm mass. Within 3 days after the operation, the patient's incision healed well, but the body temperature increased to a range of 37.8-38.6°C. The suture was removed on the 10th postoperative day. After another three days, it was discovered that the upper end of the patient's surgical incision split to the anterior rectus abdominis sheath. The patient was provided with recombinant human acidic fibroblast growth factor to promote wound healing. The patient was finally diagnosed with rectosigmoid junction adenocarcinoma and precancerous colon polyps according to pathological examination results. The patient was given intravenous bevacizumab combined with irinotecan hydrochloride and oral capecitabine, and all drugs were repeatedly applied every 3 weeks, and a total of four treatment cycles were used. The cause of this postoperative fever was concluded to be anemia coming from chronic hematochezia and combined with deep wound dehiscence with secondary infection. The present study showcased that low-dose and short-course prophylactic adjuvant therapy is feasible for early-stage COAD with precancerous colon polyps.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES In light-emitting diode (LED) and laser colonoscopy, linked color imaging (LCI) superiority to white-light imaging (WLI) for polyp detection is shown separately. We analyzed the noninferiority of LCI between LED and laser colonoscopy and that of WLI (LECOL study). METHODS We prospectively collected nonpolypoid lesions with WLI and LCI using LED and laser colonoscopy from January 2021 to August 2021. All images were evaluated randomly by 12 endoscopists (six nonexperts and six experts in three institutions) using the polyp visibility score: 4, excellent; 3, good; 2, fair; and 1, poor. The comparison score (LED better/similar/laser better) for redness and brightness was evaluated for WLI and LCI pictures of each lesion. RESULTS Finally, 63 nonpolypoid lesions were evaluated, and the mean polyp size was 24.5 ± 13.4 mm. Histopathology revealed 13 serrated lesions and 50 adenomatous/cancerous lesions. The mean polyp visibility scores of LCI pictures were significantly higher than those of WLI in the LED (3.35 ± 0.85 vs. 3.08 ± 0.91, P < 0.001) and the laser (3.40 ± 1.71 vs. 3.05 ± 0.97, P < 0.001) group, and the noninferiority of LCI pictures between LED and laser was significant (P < 0.001). The comparison scores revealed that the evaluation of redness and brightness (LED better/similar/laser better) were 26.8%/40.1%/33.1% and 43.5%/43.5%/13.0% for LCI pictures (P < 0.001) and 20.6%/44.3%/35.1% and 60.3%/31.7%/8.0% for WLI pictures (P < 0.001), respectively. CONCLUSION The noninferiority of polyp visibility with WLI and LCI in LED and laser colonoscopy was shown. WLI and LCI of LED tended to be brighter and less reddish than those of laser.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer remains a considerable challenge in healthcare nowadays. Approximately 60%-80% of colorectal cancer is caused by intestinal polyps, and resection of intestinal polyps has been proved to reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer. The vast majority of intestinal polyps can be found during colonoscopy and removed endoscopically. Therefore, more attention has been paid to the development of endoscopic resection of intestinal polyps. In this study, we compared the efficacy and safety of cold snare polypectomy (CSP) and hot snare polypectomy (HSP).
AIM To investigate the efficacy and safety of CSP and HSP for colorectal polyps.
METHODS Between January and December 2020, 301 patients with colorectal polyps 4-9 mm in diameter were treated with endoscopic therapy in our hospital, and were divided into the CSP group (n = 154) and HSP group (n = 147). The operating time, incidence of bleeding and perforation, use of titanium clips, and complete resection rate were compared between the two groups.
RESULTS We included 249 patients (301 polyps). No differences in gender, age, and polyp size, location, shape and type were observed between the CSP and HSP groups, and the resection rates in these two groups were 93.4% and 94.5%, respectively, with no significant difference. The use of titanium clips was 15.6% and 95.9%, the operating time was 3.2 ± 0.5 min and 5.6 ± 0.8 min, the delayed bleeding rate was 0% and 2.0%, and delayed perforation was 0% and 0.7%, in the CSP and HSP groups, respectively.
CONCLUSION For sessile colorectal polyps < 10 mm, CSP had the same resection rate of impaired tissue integrity as traditional HSP had. The rate of complications was lower in the CSP group. CSP is a safe and effective method for polypectomy.
