Abstract
This narrative review provides an overview of the application of endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD), including EUS-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD), for the treatment of malignant biliary obstruction. EUS-BD has demonstrated excellent technical and clinical success rates, with lower rates of adverse events when compared with percutaneous trans-hepatic biliary drainage (PTBD). EUS-BD is currently the preferred alternative technique for biliary drainage (BD) in patients with distal malignant biliary obstruction (DMBO) after failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Particularly, this review will focus on EUS-BD performed with the use of lumen apposing metal stent (LAMS). The introduction of these innovative devices, followed by the advent of electrocautery-enhanced LAMS (EC-LAMS), gave the procedure a great technical implementation and a widespread application.

Abstract
Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD) has emerged as a safe and effective minimally invasive alternative to both percutaneous and endoscopic transpapillary GBD in patients with acute cholecystitis. Over the last few years, the technique, as well as the indications for EUS-GBD have been gradually evolving, and the procedure has become simpler and safer as the accepted indications have expanded. The development of lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS) has allowed us to realize the dream of creating endoscopic gastrointestinal anastomoses, and has thus paved the way for a safer EUS-GBD. Single step EUS-guided LAMS delivery systems have obviated the use of other endoscopic accessories and thus made EUS-GBD simpler and safer. However, EUS-GBD can be associated with potentially serious complications, and therefore should be performed by expert interventional endosonologists at centers with surgical and radiological back up. EUS-GBD is a relatively new procedure still in its infancy, but continued improvement in EUS accessories and dedicated stents will make this procedure safer and also expand its current indications. This review focuses on the technical aspects, including procedural details, as well as the complications of EUS-GBD.

Abstract
EUS-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD) is gradually emerging as an option for patients with cholecystitis. A stent-bridged endoscopic intervention in the gallbladder (GB) has been proposed. The formation of a fistulous tract after EUS-GBD facilitates the entry of the endoscope inside the GB to perform endoscopic lithotomy and polypectomy, which is an efficient and safe procedure. However, the technical aspects of this procedure in order to optimize the success rate have only been scarcely discussed. This paper discusses the EUS-GBD prepared for per-oral cholecystolithotomy, the stent indwelling time, the procedure, the devices of per-oral cholecystolithotomy and the follow-up. The recently published literature on this topic is also updated in this review.
