Abstract
Hyperthermal collisions between O(3P) and NO(X2Π) could lead to the formation of the first electronically excited atomic nitrogen (N(2D)), which plays a key role in plasma formation in shock-heated air. This process is facilitated mainly by four doublet states, and to a much lesser extent by two quartet states. In this work, we report quasi-classical trajectory studies of this reactive process using the four analytical adiabatic potential energy surfaces for the doublet states developed previously from fitting high-level ab initio data. The reactions were found to be strongly enhanced by vibrational excitation of the NO reactant, consistent with the existence of potential energy barriers in the exit channel. Despite the large endothermicity of the reaction, the rate coefficient is significant at high temperatures, suggesting a possible role of this reaction in the hyperthermal kinetics in the shock layer of a hypersonic (re)entry vehicle.

Abstract
Quasiclassical trajectory calculations are performed for hyperthermal collisions between NO(X2Π) and O(3P) on recently developed potential energy surfaces for the lowest doublet and quartet states of the NO2 system. Three product channels are investigated, and their branching fractions are in reasonably good agreement with the recent crossed molecular beam study at 84 kcal/mol of collision energy. The dominant inelastic channel has a strong forward scattering bias and a high translational energy distribution with limited internal excitation in the scattered NO. The exchange channel has significantly higher NO internal excitation and is also forward biased. The abstraction channel producing internally excited O2 has the smallest branching fraction and a broader angular distribution also with a forward peak. The angular and translational energy distributions in the three channels are consistent with experiment, but the agreement is not always quantitative. The sources of the differences are discussed. Finally, the impact of NO vibrational excitation on the reactive channels and the corresponding rate coefficients are reported.

Abstract
We have carried out a quasiclassical trajectory study of the O + NO( v) energy transfer process using DMBE potential energy surfaces for the ground-states of the 2A' and 2A″ manifolds. State-to-state vibrational relaxation rate constants have been computed over the temperature range 298 and 3000 K and initial vibrational states between v = 1 and 9. The momentum-Gaussian binning approach has been employed to calculate the probability of the vibrational transitions. A comparison of the calculated state-to-state rate coefficients with the results from experimental studies and previous theoretical calculations shows the relevance of the 1 2A″ potential energy surface to the title vibrational relaxation process.

Abstract
The 3 (2)A(')(D)-->1 (2)A(")(C) emission spectrum of NO(2) has been calculated by means of exact dynamics calculations and an accurate potential energy surface for the C state. The potential energy surface has been obtained by electronic structure calculations employing the internally contracted multireference configuration interaction method plus Davidson correction and the augmented correlation consistent polarized quadruple zeta basis set. The calculated spectrum, based on energies as well as intensities, agrees well with the measured one. Despite the two asymmetric C(s) potential wells of the C potential energy surface, the spectrum is best described by a C(2v) assignment in terms of symmetric stretch, bending, and antisymmetric stretch quantum numbers. The barrier separating the two wells is merely of the order of 500 cm(-1) with the consequence that only the two lowest states, (0,0,0) and (0,0,1), show a tunneling splitting. Essential for the correct assignment of the spectrum is the pronounced negative anharmonicity of the antisymmetric stretch mode. Excitation of the symmetric stretch mode is not directly seen in the main part of the spectrum.

Abstract
We present a detailed dynamical study of the kinetics of O(3P)+NO(2Pi) collisions including O atom exchange reactions and the recombination of NO2. The classical trajectory calculations are performed on the lowest 2A' and 2A" potential energy surfaces, which were calculated by ab initio methods. The calculated room temperature exchange reaction rate coefficient, kex, is in very good agreement with the measured one. The high-pressure recombination rate coefficient, which is given by the formation rate coefficient and to a good approximation equals 2kex, overestimates the experimental data by merely 20%. The pressure dependence of the recombination rate, kr, is described within the strong-collision model by assigning a stabilization probability to each individual trajectory. The measured falloff curve is well reproduced over five orders of magnitude by a single parameter, i.e., the strong-collision stabilization frequency. The calculations also yield the correct temperature dependence, kr proportional, T-1.5, of the low-pressure recombination rate coefficient. The dependence of the rate coefficients on the oxygen isotopes are investigated by incorporating the difference of the zero-point energies between the reactant and product NO radicals, DeltaZPE, into the potential energy surface. Similar isotope effects as for ozone are predicted for both the exchange reaction and the recombination. Finally, we estimate that the chaperon mechanism is not important for the recombination of NO2, which is in accord with the overall T-1.4 dependence of the measured recombination rate even in the low temperature range.

Abstract
The close-coupling hyperspherical (CCH) exact quantum method was used to study the title barrierless reaction up to a collision energy (E(T)) of 0.75 eV, and the results compared with quasiclassical trajectory (QCT) calculations to determine the importance of quantum effects. The CCH integral cross section decreased with E(T) and, although the QCT results were in general quite similar to the CCH ones, they presented a significant deviation from the CCH data within the 0.2-0.6 eV collision energy range, where the QCT method did not correctly describe the reaction probability. A very good accord between both methods was obtained for the OH(+) vibrational distribution, where no inversion of population was found. For the OH(+) rotational distributions, the agreement between the CCH and QCT results was not as good as in the vibrational case, but it was satisfactory in many conditions. The kk(') angular distribution showed a preferential forward character, and the CCH method produced higher forward peaks than the QCT one. All the results were interpreted considering the potential energy surface and plots of a representative sampling of reactive trajectories.

Abstract
In this work we present a study of the F+CH(4)-->HF+CH(3) reaction (DeltaHdegrees(298 K)=-32.0 kcal mol(-1)) using different methods of the chemical reaction theory. The ground potential energy surface (PES) is characterized using several ab initio methods. Full-dimensional rate constants have been calculated employing the variational transition state theory and using directly ab initio data. A triatomic analytical representation of the ground PES was derived from ab initio points calculated at the second- and fourth-order Møller-Plesset levels with the 6-311+G(2df,2pd) basis set, assuming the CH(3) fragment to be a 15 a.m.u. pseudoatom in the fitting process. This is suggested from experiments that indicate that the methyl group is uncoupled to the reaction coordinate. A dynamics study by means of the quasiclassical trajectory (QCT) method and employing this analytical surface was also carried out. The experimental data available on the HF internal states distributions are reproduced by the QCT results. Very recent experimental information about the reaction stereodynamics is also borne out by our QCT calculations. Comparisons with the benchmark F+H(2) and analogous Cl+CH(4) reactions are established throughout.

Abstract
An analytical potential energy surface (PES) representation of the O(+)((4)S)+H(2)(X (1)Sigma(g) (+)) system was developed by fitting around 600 CCSD(T)/cc-pVQZ ab initio points. Rate constant calculations for this reaction and its isotopic variants (D(2) and HD) were performed using the quasiclassical trajectory (QCT) method, obtaining a good agreement with experimental data. Calculations conducted to determine the cross section of the title reaction, considering collision energies (E(T)) below 0.3 eV, also led to good accord with experiments. This PES appears to be suitable for kinetics and dynamics studies. Moreover, the QCT results show that, although the hypotheses of a widely used capture model are not satisfied, the resulting expression for the cross section can be applied within a suitable E(T) interval, due to errors cancellation. This could be a general situation regarding the application of this simple model to ion-molecule processes.
