Abstract
Constant uncertainty molecular dynamics (CUMD), which was developed to include nuclear quantum effects (NQEs) in molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, is extended to three-dimensional condensed-phase systems. Its applicability was verified via CUMD simulations of bulk water and ice Ih with the q-TIP4P/F potential model. The simulated radial distribution functions, proton momentum distributions, and infrared spectra were compared with those of previous studies in which the simulations were carried out on the basis of the imaginary-time path-integral formalism. We found that CUMD can function as an alternative trajectory-based simulation method for including static and dynamic NQEs in MD simulations of three-dimensional condensed-phase systems.

Abstract
An approximate approach to quantum vibrational dynamics, "Brownian chain molecular dynamics (BCMD)," is proposed to alleviate the chain resonance and curvature problems in the imaginary time-based path integral (PI) simulation. Here the non-centroid velocity is randomized at each step when solving the equation of motion of path integral molecular dynamics. This leads to a combination of the Newton equation and the overdamped Langevin equation for the centroid and non-centroid variables, respectively. BCMD shares the basic properties of other PI approaches such as centroid and ring polymer molecular dynamics: It gives the correct Kubo-transformed correlation function at short times, conserves the time symmetry, has the correct high-temperature/classical limits, gives exactly the position and velocity autocorrelations of harmonic oscillator systems, and does not have the zero-point leakage problem. Numerical tests were done on simple molecular models and liquid water. On-the-fly ab initio BCMD simulations were performed for the protonated water cluster, H 5 O 2 + $$ {\mathrm{H}}_5{\mathrm{O}}_2^{+} $$ , and its isotopologue, D 5 O 2 + $$ {\mathrm{D}}_5{\mathrm{O}}_2^{+} $$ .

Abstract
Differences in properties such as phase-transition temperature and transport coefficients among liquids of different isotopic compositions, hydrogen, deuterium, and tritium, should originate from their differently pronounced nuclear quantum effects (NQEs) rather than from any subtle difference in the electronic interaction potentials. Accurate and efficient determination of structural and dynamical isotopic effects in the quantum liquids still remains as one of the challenging problems in condensed-phase physics. With a recently developed nonempirical real-time molecular dynamics method which describes nonspherical molecules with the NQEs, we computationally realized and investigated dynamical and quantum isotopic effects of not only traditionally studied isotopes, hydrogen, and deuterium but also a lesser known radioisotope, tritium, in broad thermodynamic conditions from normal liquid to weakly and strongly cooled liquids, which have been hindered by rapid crystallization in spite of numerous experimental attempts at supercooling. Reproducing the previously reported experimental isotope dependence on the bond length and vibrational frequencies of hydrogen, deuterium, and tritium liquids, we further demonstrate that distinctive isotope effects appear in their intermolecular and intramolecular structure and dynamics not only at lower temperature but also at higher temperature, which none has so far been able to obtain quantitative results for realistic systems. Rationalization of their physical origins and the obtained physical insights will help future experimental searching and monitoring intermolecular and intramolecular dynamics and structures of these isotopes not only in normal liquid but also in supercooled liquid.

Abstract
We have used a generalised coherent state resolution of the identity to map the quantum canonical statistical average for a general system onto a phase-space average over the centre and width parameters of a thawed Gaussian wave packet. We also propose an artificial phase-space density that has the same behaviour as the canonical phase-space density in the low-temperature limit, and have constructed a novel Nosé-Hoover looped chain thermostat that generates this density in conjunction with variational thawed Gaussian wave-packet dynamics. This forms a new platform for evaluating statistical properties of quantum condensed-phase systems that has an explicit connection to the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, whilst retaining many of the appealing features of path-integral molecular dynamics.
