Abstract
EUV and soft X-ray-induced photofragmentation of the halothane (CF3CHBrCl) molecule has been investigated using time-of-flight mass spectrometry in the coincidence mode (PEPICO) covering the valence region and vicinity of the bromine 3d, chlorine 2p, and carbon 1s edges. Total and partial ion yields have been recorded as a function of photon energy. At lower photon energies, the heavier singly charged molecular fragments predominate in the mass spectra. On the other hand, there is a strong tendency to the atomization of the molecule at higher photon energies. Despite the different chemical environments experienced by the two carbon atoms, weak site-specific fragmentation is observed. In addition, ab initio quantum mechanical calculations at the MP2 level and a series of computations with multiconfigurational self-consistent field have been performed to describe the inner-shell states.

Abstract
The mechanism of toluene nitration by NO2BF4 in dichloromethane solution is investigated by performing advanced ab initio MD simulations of the reaction trajectories, including at full quantum mechanical level the effects of both the solvent and of the counterion. The time evolution of the encounter complex, as well as that of the associated electronic structure, for different trajectories reveals that a single electron transfer step fastly occurs after reactants are accommodated in a common solvation shell, always preceding the formation of the σ-complex. The present results strongly suggest that the regioselectivity of the reaction is spin-density driven and that a thin mechanism, one based on reaction intermediates and transition states, can be appropriate to describe aromatic nitration.

Abstract
A methodology to calculate the decay rates of normal and resonant Auger processes in atoms and molecules based on the One-Center Approximation (OCA), using atomic radial Auger integrals, is implemented within the restricted-active-space self-consistent-field (RASSCF) and the multistate restricted-active-space perturbation theory of second order (MS-RASPT2) frameworks, as part of the OpenMolcas project. To ensure an unbiased description of the correlation and relaxation effects on the initial core excited/ionized states and the final cationic states, their wave functions are optimized independently, whereas the Auger matrix elements are computed with a biorthonormalized set of molecular orbitals within the state-interaction (SI) approach. As a decay of an isolated resonance, the computation of Auger intensities involves matrix elements with one electron in the continuum. However, treating ionization and autoionization problems can be overwhelmingly complicated for nonexperts, because of many peculiarities, in comparison to bound-state electronic structure theory. One of the advantages of our approach is that by projecting the intensities on the atomic center bearing the core hole and using precalculated atomic radial two-electron integrals, the Auger decay rates can be easily obtained directly with OpenMolcas, avoiding the need to interface it with external programs to compute matrix elements with the photoelectron wave function. The implementation is tested on the Ne atom, for which numerous theoretical and experimental results are available for comparison, as well as on a set of prototype closed- and open-shell molecules, namely, CO, N2, HNCO, H2O, NO2, and C4N2H4 (pyrimidine).

Abstract
We report on single- and double-charge photofragment formation by synchrotron radiation, following C 1s core excitation and ionization and Cl 2p inner excitation and ionization of chlorobenzene, C6H5Cl. From a comparison of experimental near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectra and theoretical ab initio calculations, the nature of various core and inner shell transitions of the molecule and pure atomic features were identified. To shed light on the normal Auger processes following excitation or ionization of the molecule at the Cl 2p or C 1s sites, we addressed the induced ionic species formation. With energy resolved electron spectra and ion time-of-flight spectra coincidence measurements, the ionic species were correlated with binding energy regions and initial states of vacancies. We explored the formation of the molecular dication C6H5Cl2+, the analogue benzene dication C6H42+, and the singly charged species produced by single loss of a carbon atom, C5HnCl+. The appearance and intensities of the spectral features associated with these ionic species are shown to be strongly site selective and dependent on the energy ranges of the Auger electron emission. Unexpected intensities for the analogue double charged benzene C6H42+ ion were observed with fast Auger electrons. The transitions leading to C6H5Cl2+ were identified from the binding energy representation of high resolution electron energy spectra. Most C6H5Cl2+ ions decay into two singly charged moieties, but intermediate channels are opened leading to other heavy dicationic species, C6H42+ and C6H4Cl2+, the channel leading to the first of these being much more favored than the other.

Abstract
Auger electrons can be highly radiotoxic when they are used to irradiate specific molecular sites. This has spurred basic science investigations of their radiobiological effects and clinical investigations of their potential for therapy. Focused symposia on the biophysical aspects of Auger processes have been held quadrennially. This 9th International Symposium on Physical, Molecular, Cellular, and Medical Aspects of Auger Processes at Oxford University brought together scientists from many different fields to review past findings, discuss the latest studies, and plot the future work to be done. This review article examines the research in this field that was published during the years 2015-2019 which corresponds to the period since the last meeting in Japan. In addition, this article points to future work yet to be done. There have been a plethora of advancements in our understanding of Auger processes. These advancements range from basic atomic and molecular physics to new ways to implement Auger electron emitters in radiopharmaceutical therapy. The highly localized doses of radiation that are deposited within a 10 nm of the decay site make them precision tools for discovery across the physical, chemical, biological, and medical sciences.

Abstract
The ratios of single, double, and triple ionizations to the total photoionization of the halothane (C2HBrClF3) molecule have been investigated by a single-photon ionization in the energy range from 21.21 eV to 320 eV. In the valence region, the multiple ionization results can be described by a sum of contributions generated from the shake-off and the two-step one models. At low photon energies (from the threshold of triple ionization up to 100 eV), the triple photoionization dynamics of halothane can be reasonably well described by a model involving a classical electron impact double ionization of the singly ionized parent ion.
