Abstract
BACKGROUND Good communication is an important professional attribute for radiologists. However, explorations of communication education and their outcomes in radiology residents are sparse. This scoping review aims to evaluate the existing literature on communication education for radiology residents, identify gaps in current practices, and suggest directions for future studies. METHODS A scoping review following the six-step approach of Arksey and O'Malley was undertaken. We searched through PubMed, Embase, ERIC, and Web of Science databases, focusing on communication education in radiology residents. RESULTS Sixteen of the 3096 identified articles were included in the analysis. Most studies (13/16) originated from the United States. The studies varied in study design, including quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods approaches. The sample sizes of most studies were small to moderate, with more than half of the studies had fewer than 30 participants. The identified studies predominantly focused on communication with patients and healthcare professionals. The need for communication education, the efficacy of specific communication education programs, and the capability of some assessment tools for evaluating residents' communication skills were investigated. CONCLUSIONS This scoping review reveals the gap between the need for communication education and the lack of comprehensive education programs in radiology residents globally. Future studies should develop tailored interventions and use reliable assessment tools, engaging more participants with extended follow-up periods, and expand the scope of communication training to include all relevant stakeholders.

Abstract
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) in the setting of postpartum endometritis can have severe and life-threatening complications. We report a rare case of septic pulmonary emboli that we surmised to have originated from septic pelvic thrombosis in the setting of GAS toxic shock syndrome (TSS) secondary to postpartum endometritis and intrauterine demise. Although the patient had source control with hysterectomy, she continued to have new septic emboli to the lungs seen on CT scans. CT scan of the pelvis demonstrated several filling defects in the renal and pelvic veins. The patient eventually responded well to anticoagulation in addition to antibiotics, which is similar to cases of Lemierre's syndrome. Additionally, we would like to bring attention to how important radiological findings can be missed if there is lack of interspecialty communication about the patient's clinical situation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Using the eye-tracking technique, our work aimed to examine whether difference in clinical background may affect the training outcome of resident doctors' interpretation skills and reading behaviour related to brain computed tomography (CT). METHODS Twelve resident doctors in the neurology, radiology, and emergency departments were recruited. Each participant had to read CT images of the brain for two cases. We evaluated each participant's accuracy of lesion identification. We also used the eye-tracking technique to assess reading behaviour. We recorded dwell times, fixation counts, run counts, and first-run dwell times of target lesions to evaluate visual attention. Transition entropy was applied to assess the temporal relations and spatial dynamics of systematic image reading. RESULTS The eye-tracking results showed that the image reading sequence examined by transition entropy was comparable among resident doctors from different medical specialties (p = 0.82). However, the dwell time of the target lesions was shorter for the resident doctors from the neurology department (4828.63 ms, p = 0.01) than for those from the resident doctors from the radiology (6275.88 ms) and emergency (5305.00 ms) departments. The eye-tracking results in individual areas of interest only showed differences in the eye-tracking performance of the first-run dwell time (p = 0.05) in the anterior cerebral falx. DISCUSSION Our findings demonstrate that resident doctors from different medical specialties may achieve similar imaging reading patterns for brain CT. This may mitigate queries regarding the influence of different backgrounds on training outcomes.

Abstract
Radiological reports are a valuable source of information used to guide clinical care and support research. Organizing and managing this content, however, frequently requires several manual curations due to the more common unstructured nature of the reports. However, manual review of these reports for clinical knowledge extraction is costly and time-consuming. Natural language processing (NLP) is a set of methods developed to extract structured meaning from a body of text and can be used to optimize the workflow of health care professionals. Specifically, NLP methods can help radiologists as decision support systems and improve the management of patients' medical data. In this study, we highlight the opportunities offered by NLP in the field of radiology. A comprehensive review of the most commonly used NLP methods to extract information from radiological reports and the development of tools to improve radiological workflow using this information is presented. Finally, we review the important limitations of these tools and discuss the relevant observations and trends in the application of NLP to radiology that could benefit the field in the future.

Abstract
Radiologists communicate along multiple pathways, using written, verbal, and non-verbal means. Radiology trainees must gain skills in all forms of communication, with attention to developing effective professional communication in all forms. This manuscript reviews evidence-based strategies for enhancing effective communication between radiologists and patients through direct communication, written means and enhanced reporting. We highlight patient-centered communication efforts, available evidence, and opportunities to engage learners and enhance training and simulation efforts that improve communication with patients at all levels of clinical care.

Abstract
Interprofessional education (IPE) brings educators and learners from two or more health professions together in a collaborative learning environment, specifically assuring that learners function as a team to provide patient-centered care, with each team member contributing a unique perspective. The Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, and the American Board of Radiology have endorsed interprofessional and team communication as essential core competencies. Radiology educators must understand, include, and optimize IPE in their pedagogy; as a specialty, radiology must innovate more interprofessional experiences for medical students, residents and other allied health professions.

Introduction: Inconsistent workflow, communication, and role clarity generate inefficiencies during bedside rounds in a neonatal intensive care unit. These inefficiencies compromise the time needed for essential activities and result in reduced staff and family satisfaction. This study’s primary aim was to reduce the mean duration of bedside rounds by 25% within 3 months by redesigning the rounding processes and applying QI principles. The secondary aims were to improve staff and family experience. Methods: We conducted this work in an academic 50-bed neonatal intensive care unit involving 350 staff members. The change interventions included: (i) reinforcing essential value-added activities like standardizing rounding time, the sequencing of patients rounded, sequencing each team member rounding presentations, team preparation, bedside presentation content, and time management; (ii) reducing non-value-added activities; and (iii) moving value-added nonessential activities outside of the rounds. Results: The mean duration of rounds decreased from 229 minutes in the pre-implementation to 132 minutes in the postimplementation phase. The proportion of staff showing satisfaction regarding various components of the rounds increased from 5% to 60%, and perceived staff involvement during the rounds increased from 70% to 77%. Ninety-three percent of family experience survey respondents expressed satisfaction at being invited for bedside reporting and being involved in decision-making or care planning. The staff did not report any adverse events related to the new rounds process. Conclusion: Redesigning bedside rounds improved staff engagement and workflow, resulting in efficient rounds and better staff experience.
