Intake of dietary fibre and the age of menarche

The relationship between menarchial age and estimated dietary fibre intake in 46 countries/communities was examined. There was a highly significant positive correlation (r = 0.84) between dietary fibre (g/1000 k calories nutrient energy) and menarcheal age. The nutritional and physiological significance of this relationship is discussed.
