Shortcuts for understanding rovibronic spectroscopy of ultracold alkali metal diatomic molecules

Potential Energy Surface and Bound States of Ne-Li2+(X2Σg+) van der Waals Complex Based on Ab Initio Calculations

Theoretical studies of the potential energy surface and vibrational bound states calculations were performed for the ground state of the Ne-Li2+(X2Σg+) van der Waals (vdW) complex. The intermolecular interactions were investigated by using an accurate monoconfigurational RCCSD(T) method and large basis sets (aug-cc-pVnZ, n = T, Q, 5), extrapolated to the complete basis set (CBS) limit. In turn, the obtained raw data from RCCSD(T)/CBS(Q5) calculations were numerically interpolated using the Morse + vdW model and the Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space (RKHS) polynomial method to generate analytic expressions for the 2D-PES. The RKHS interpolated PES was then used to assess the bound states of the Ne-Li2+(X2Σg+) system through nuclear quantum calculations. By studying the aspect of the potential energy surface, the analysis sheds light on the behavior of the Ne-Li2+(X2Σg+) complex and its interactions between repulsive and attractive forces with other particles. By examining the vibrational states and wave functions of the system, the researchers were able to gain a better understanding of the behavior of the Ne-Li2+(X2Σg+) complex. The calculated radial and angular distributions for all even and odd symmetries are discussed in detail. We observe that the radial distributions exhibit a more complicated nodal structure, representing stretching vibrational behavior in the neon atom along its radial coordinate. For the highest bound states, the situation is very different, and the energies surpass the angular barrier.

Electronic transitions in Rb2+ dimers solvated in helium

We have measured depletion spectra of the heteronuclear (85Rb87Rb+) dimer cation complexed with up to 10 He atoms. Two absorption bands are observed between 920 and 250 nm. The transition into the repulsive 12Σu+state of HeRb2+gives rise to a broad feature at 790 nm (12,650 cm−1); it exhibits a blueshift of 98 cm−1per added He atom. The transition into the bound 12Πustate of HeRb2+reveals vibrational structure with a band head at ≤ 15,522 cm−1, a harmonic constant of 26 cm−1, and a spin–orbit splitting of ≤ 183 cm−1. The band experiences an average redshift of − 38 cm−1per added He atom. Ab initio calculations rationalize the shape of the spectra and spectral shifts with respect to the number of helium atoms attached. For a higher number of solvating helium atoms, symmetric solvation on both ends of the Rb2+ion is predicted.

Observation of the shallow 2 Π 1 state of NaH

The 2 ¹Π state of NaH has been observed up to the last bound vibrational level using pulsed optical-optical double resonance fluorescence depletion spectroscopy. A total of 20 rovibrational energy levels ( v = 2-4 and J = 1-9) were assigned to this electronic state by means of comparing the successive rovibrational spectra to the eigenvalues of the ab initio potential energy curve. The decrease of background fluorescence near the atomic asymptotic limit Na(3d) + H(1s) is an indication of reaching the dissociation limit of the NaH 2 ¹Π state. Unobserved rovibrational levels ( v = 0 and 1) are due to poor Franck-Condon overlap of 2 ¹Π ← A ¹Σ⁺ transition within the accessible rovibrational levels of intermediate A ¹Σ⁺ state of this work.

The Rb2 31Π g state: Observation and analysis

This paper reports observations and analysis of the Rb₂ 3¹Π _g state. A total of 323 rovibrational term values spanning the range of the rotational quantum number J = 7 through 77 and the vibrational quantum number v = 2 through 23 (about 1/3 of the potential well depth) were measured using the optical-optical double resonance technique. The term values are simulated within a model of a piece-wise multi-parameter potential energy function based on the generalized splines. This function not only enables a reproduction of the experimental data with a reasonable quality but also approximates the available ab initio function in its whole range with a uniform accuracy.

Spectroscopic investigation of the A and 3 1Σ+ states of 39K85Rb

By using a combination of molecular beam (MB) excitation spectra and two distinct ultracold molecule excitation spectra (UM+ and UM-), we have assigned high vibrational levels of the A and 3 (1)Σ(+) states from absorption spectra of the mutually strongly perturbed A (1)Σ(+) - 3 (1)Σ(+) - 1 (1)Π - 2 (3)Σ(+) - b (3)Π states of ultracold (39)K(85)Rb molecules in the energy region between 15,116 and 16,225 cm(-1) above the minimum of the ground X (1)Σ(+) state. The ultracold molecules (UM+ and UM-) are formed by radiative decay following photoassociation (PA) to a specific level of the 3(0(+)) state (UM+) or to a specific level of the 3(0(-)) state (UM-). We observe that the A and 3 (1)Σ(+) states are observable in the UM+ spectra, but absent from the UM- spectra. This is explained by considering Hund's case (c) selection rules and transition dipole moments between the upper excited A (1)Σ(+) (2(0(+))) state and the three Ω components (0(+), 0(-), and 1) at the ground-state dissociation limit. We propose further investigations of the extended potential wells of the A and 3 (1)Σ(+) states by combining short-range MB excitation spectra in a narrow Franck-Condon (FC) window near R(e) of the X (1)Σ(+) state, and long-range UM (and PA) excitation spectra, which have much larger FC windows.
