Abstract
Research on 12C18O was carried out using two complementary Fourier-transform methods: (1) vacuum-ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy, with an accuracy ca. 0.03 cm-1 on the DESIRS beamline (SOLEIL synchrotron) and (2) visible emission spectroscopy with an accuracy of about 0.005-0.007 cm-1 by means of the Bruker IFS 125HR spectrometer (University of Rzeszów). The maximum rotational quantum number of the energy levels involved in the observed spectral lines was Jmax = 54. An effective Hamiltonian and the term-value fitting approach were implemented for the precise analysis of the A1Π(v = 3) level in 12C18O. It was performed by means of the PGOPHER code. The data set consisted of 571 spectral lines belonging to the A1Π-X1Σ+(3, 0), B1Σ+-A1Π(0, 3), C1Σ+-A1Π(0, 3) bands and several lines involving states that perturb the A1Π(v = 3) level as well as to the previously analysed B1Σ+-X1Σ+(0, 0) and C1Σ+-X1Σ+(0, 0) transitions. A significantly extended quantum-mechanical description of the A1Π(v = 3) level in 12C18O was provided. It consists of the 5 new unimolecular interactions of the spin-orbit and rotation-electronic nature, which had not been taken into account previously in the literature. The ro-vibronic term values of the A1Π(v = 3, Jmax = 55), a'3Σ+(v = 13), D1Δ(v = 4) and I1Σ-(v = 5) levels were determined with precision improved by a factor of 10 relative to the previously known values.

Abstract
Ro-vibronic spectra of the 13C18O carbon monoxide isotopologue were obtained with (i) emission spectroscopy in the visible region using a Bruker IFS 125HR spectrometer (University of Rzeszów) and (ii) vacuum-ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy using the wave-front-division spectrometer on the DESIRS beamline of the SOLEIL synchrotron. A deperturbation analysis of the 13C18O A1Π(v = 1) level was conducted from 598 observed transitions from the B1Σ+ - A1Π(0, 1), C1Σ+ - A1Π(0, 1), A1Π - X1Σ+(1, 0), B1Σ+ - X1Σ+(0, 0), C1Σ+ - X1Σ+(0, 0), I1Σ- - X1Σ+(2, 0) bands and five further nominally forbidden bands. An effective Hamiltonian and term-value fitting analysis was implemented. Consequently, 135 parameters were floated: 23 molecular parameters, including molecular constants for A1Π(v = 1), I1Σ-(v = 2), d3Δ(v = 6), e3Σ-(v = 3) and D1Δ(v = 1); rotation-electronic (L-uncoupling) mixing of A1Π(v = 1) ∼ [D1Δ(v = 1), I1Σ-(v = 1), I1Σ-(v = 2)] and spin-orbit interaction parameters for A1Π(v = 1) ∼ [d3Δ(v = 6), e3Σ-(v = 3), a'3Σ+(v = 11)]; the spin-orbit/spin-electronic/L-uncoupling a3Π(v = 12) ∼ d3Δ(v = 5) and spin-orbit a3Π(v = 12) ∼ [D1Δ(v = 1), I1Σ-(v = 2)] perturbation parameters; as well as 112 ro-vibronic term values of B1Σ+(v = 0) up to J = 50 and C1Σ+(v = 0) up to J = 60. The significant, indirect a3Π(v = 12) ∼ [e3Σ-(v = 2, 3), d3Δ(v = 5, 6)] ∼ A1Π(v = 1) spin-orbit/spin-electronic/L-uncoupling interaction and a3Π(v = 12) ∼ [I1Σ-(v = 2), D1Δ(v = 1)] ∼ A1Π(v = 1) spin-orbit/L-uncoupling interaction were detected and analysed. Thus, this study, using modern experimental methods and deperturbation analysis, leads to a much improved description in terms of molecular constants and interaction parameters, compared to previous studies of the A1Π(v = 1) energy region in the 13C18O isotopologue. This research is a continuation of the studies on the A1Π state and its numerous perturbers in the CO isotopologues made by our team.

Abstract
The high-resolution absorption spectrum of 3-methoxyacrylonitrile (3MAN) was measured between 5.27 and 12.59 eV using a synchrotron-based Fourier-transform spectrometer. It was related to an absolute absorption cross-section scale. Complementary calculations at the DFT-MRCI/aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory document the vertical transition energies and oscillator strengths toward the first 19 states of both the E and Z geometrical isomers of 3MAN. Comparisons with the experimental absorption spectrum reveal the similarities and differences between 3MAN, a bifunctional molecule, with acrylonitrile and methylvinylether, where only one functional group is present. As in acrylonitrile, several broad valence transitions were observed up to the ionization limit. They are likely associated with the extended π-system induced by the nitrile group but might also involve σσ* transitions close to the ionization limit. As in methylvinylether, Rydberg series converging to the ionization limit are absent. This is attributed to a difference in neutral and cationic geometry due to a 60° rotation of the methyl group.

Abstract
Using a synchrotron-based Fourier-transform spectrometer, the high-resolution absorption spectra of the C1-symmetric 2,3-dihydrofuran (23DHF) and C2v-symmetric 2,5-dihydrofuran (25DHF) have been measured from 5.5 eV to 9.4 eV with an absolute absorption cross section scale. Oscillator strengths and vertical excitation energies of the lowest 18 states have been computed using the average of the second- and third-order algebraic diagrammatic construction polarization propagator method and the equation-of-motion coupled-cluster method at the level of singles and doubles model. These show that the bright valence transitions of ππ*-character are embedded into Rydberg transitions, whose oscillator strengths are at least one order of magnitude lower. To account for intensity borrowing, the first broad valence transition between 5.5 eV and 6.8 eV was simulated using a nuclear ensemble, and the agreement between experiment and theory is excellent. Whereas 23DHF only exhibits one broad valence transition followed by d/f Rydberg series converging to the ionization energy, the absorption spectrum of 25DHF has four bands, attributed to a valence nπσ → π*-transition, nπσ → 3px,z/3dxz transitions, a second valence nπ → π*-transition followed by d/f Rydberg series converging to the ionization energy, respectively. All Rydberg series converging to the ionization energy have been characterized in terms of their quantum defects.

Abstract
Accurate Fourier-transform spectroscopic absorption measurements of vacuum ultraviolet transitions in atomic nitrogen and carbon were performed at the Soleil synchrotron. For 14N, transitions from the 2s22p34S3/2 ground state and from the 2s22p32P and 2D metastable states were determined in the 95–124 nm range at an accuracy of 0.025cm−1. The combination of these results with data from previous precision laser experiments in the vacuum ultraviolet range reveals an overall and consistent offset of −0.04 cm−1 from values reported in the NIST database. The splittings of the 2s22p34S3/2 – 2s2p44PJ transitions are well-resolved for 14N and 15N and the isotope shifts determined. While excitation of a 2p valence electron yields very small isotope shifts, excitation of a 2s core electron results in large isotope shifts, in agreement with theoretical predictions. For carbon, six transitions from the ground 2s22p23PJ and 2s22p3s3PJ excited states at 165 nm are measured for both 12C and 13C isotopes.

Abstract
We investigate the laser ionization process taking place when the CO molecule is exposed to vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) radiation resonant with the CO A1Π(v = 0) ← X1Σ+(v = 0) transition around 154 nm, along with the ultraviolet (UV) and visible (Red) radiation used to generate VUV by four-wave difference-frequency mixing. By measuring the CO+ ion recoil and a room temperature gas spectrum, it is possible to assign the ionization process as 1 + 1' + 1'' REMPI where the one-photon steps refer to the VUV, UV, and Red radiation, respectively. Resonance enhanced ionization of rotational states around J = 12 arise due to the overlap of the fixed wavelength UV (∼250 nm) with the R band-head of a transition assigned to CO E1Π(v = 6) ← A1Π(v = 0) with a term value of 104 787.5 cm-1. The REMPI process is efficient and polarization sensitive and should be useful in a wide range of studies involving nascent CO.

Abstract
A VUV absorption spectroscopy facility designed for ultra-high spectral resolution is in operation as a dedicated branch on the DESIRS beamline at Synchrotron SOLEIL. This branch includes a unique VUV Fourier transform spectrometer (FTS) and a dedicated versatile gas sample chamber. The FTS instrument can cover a large UV-VUV spectral range from 4 to 30 eV, with an ultimate line width of 0.08 cm(-1) on a large spectral window, ΔE/E = 7%, over which all spectral features can be acquired in a multiplex way. The performance can be considered to be a middle ground between broadband moderate-resolution spectrometers based on gratings and ultra-high-spectral-resolution VUV tunable-laser-based techniques over very narrow spectral windows. The various available gaseous-sample-handling setups, which function over a wide range of pressures and temperatures, and the acquisition methodology are described. A selection of experimental results illustrates the performance and limitations of the FTS-based facility.

Abstract
High-precision two-photon Doppler-free frequency measurements have been performed on the CO A(1)Π - X(1)Σ(+) fourth-positive system (2,0), (3,0), and (4,0) bands. Absolute frequencies of forty-three transitions, for rotational quantum numbers up to J = 5, have been determined at an accuracy of 1.6 × 10(-3) cm(-1), using advanced techniques of two-color 2 + 1' resonance-enhanced multi-photon ionization, Sagnac interferometry, frequency-chirp analysis on the laser pulses, and correction for AC-Stark shifts. The accurate transition frequencies of the CO A(1)Π - X(1)Σ(+) system are of relevance for comparison with astronomical data in the search for possible drifts of fundamental constants in the early universe. The present accuracies in laboratory wavelengths of Δλ/λ = 2 × 10(-8) may be considered exact for the purpose of such comparisons.
