Abstract
In this work, a direct quantum implementation of the Doktorov formulas for calculating the vibronic spectrum of molecules under the harmonic approximation is presented. It is applied to the three-atom molecules H2O, SO2, ClO2, HS2, and ZnOH. The method solves the classically hard problem of estimating the Franck-Condon (FC) factors by using the Duschinsky matrices as the only input via the Doktorov quantum circuit. This has the advantage of avoiding basis changes, artificial squeezing parameters, and symmetry dependencies. In other words, it is a general method for three-atom molecules that can easily be generalized to bigger molecules. The results are compared with other quantum algorithms and classical anharmonic algorithms. Furthermore, the circuit requirements are studied in order to estimate its applicability on real superconducting quantum hardware.

Abstract
Simulating vibrationally resolved electronic spectra of anharmonic systems, especially those involving double-well potential energy surfaces, often requires expensive quantum dynamics methods. Here, we explore the applicability and limitations of the recently proposed single-Hessian thawed Gaussian approximation for the simulation of spectra of systems with double-well potentials, including 1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene, ammonia, phosphine, and arsine. This semiclassical wavepacket approach is shown to be more robust and to provide more accurate spectra than the conventional harmonic approximation. Specifically, we identify two cases in which the Gaussian wavepacket method is especially useful due to the breakdown of the harmonic approximation: (i) when the nuclear wavepacket is initially at the top of the potential barrier but delocalized over both wells, e.g., along a low-frequency mode, and (ii) when the wavepacket has enough energy to classically go over the low potential energy barrier connecting the two wells. The method is efficient and requires only a single classical ab initio molecular dynamics trajectory, in addition to the data required to compute the harmonic spectra. We also present an improved algorithm for computing the wavepacket autocorrelation function, which guarantees that the evaluated correlation function is continuous for arbitrary size of the time step.

Abstract
The electronic absorption spectrum of β-carotene (β-Car) is studied using quantum chemistry and quantum dynamics simulations. Vibrational normal modes were computed in optimized geometries of the electronic ground state S0 and the optically bright excited S2 state using the time-dependent density functional theory. By expressing the S2-state normal modes in terms of the ground-state modes, we find that no one-to-one correspondence between the ground- and excited-state vibrational modes exists. Using the ab initio results, we simulated the β-Car absorption spectrum with all 282 vibrational modes in a model solvent at 300 K using the time-dependent Dirac-Frenkel variational principle and are able to qualitatively reproduce the full absorption line shape. By comparing the 282-mode model with the prominent 2-mode model, widely used to interpret carotenoid experiments, we find that the full 282-mode model better describes the high-frequency progression of carotenoid absorption spectra; hence, vibrational modes become highly mixed during the S0 → S2 optical excitation. The obtained results suggest that electronic energy dissipation is mediated by numerous vibrational modes.

Abstract
Theoretical calculations of phosphorescent spectra and nonradiative transition (NRT) rate constants for S1 ⇝ T1, T1 ⇝ S0, and S1 ⇝ S0 were carried out to determine the best candidate for a blue-color phosphorescent complex among several derivatives of bis(2-phenylpyridine)(acetylacetonate)iridium(III). The geometries of the ground state (S0), the lowest triplet state (T1), and the lowest excited singlet state (S1) were optimized at the levels of density functional theory, in which B3LYP functionals and SBKJC+p basis sets were used. The NRT rate constants were derived by using a generating function method within the displaced harmonic oscillator model. The results of the calculation for phosphorescence showed that the introduction of F and/or CN substituents at the 4'/6'-th and 5'-th sites in 2-phenylpyridinate (ppy) ligands, respectively, causes a blue shift of the emission spectra. They also suggest that Ir(5-CN,6-F-ppy)2(acac), denoted 3(56) in the text, is a good candidate for a blue-color phosphorescent complex because a blue shift of emission spectra and a moderate intensity are obtained for phosphorescence and, furthermore, this complex is calculated to have a large rate constant for S1 ⇝ T1 and relatively smaller rate constants for T1 ⇝ S0 and S1 ⇝ S0 based on the calculations of spin-orbit coupling and nonadiabatic coupling constants.

Abstract
Molpro is a general purpose quantum chemistry software package with a long development history. It was originally focused on accurate wavefunction calculations for small molecules but now has many additional distinctive capabilities that include, inter alia, local correlation approximations combined with explicit correlation, highly efficient implementations of single-reference correlation methods, robust and efficient multireference methods for large molecules, projection embedding, and anharmonic vibrational spectra. In addition to conventional input-file specification of calculations, Molpro calculations can now be specified and analyzed via a new graphical user interface and through a Python framework.

Abstract
We present a quantum algorithm for calculating the vibronic spectrum of a molecule, a useful but classically hard problem in chemistry. We show several advantages over previous quantum approaches: vibrational anharmonicity is naturally included; after measurement, some state information is preserved for further analysis; and there are potential error-related benefits. Considering four triatomic molecules, we numerically study truncation errors in the harmonic approximation. Further, in order to highlight the fact that our quantum algorithm's primary advantage over classical algorithms is in simulating anharmonic spectra, we consider the anharmonic vibronic spectrum of sulfur dioxide. In the future, our approach could aid in the design of materials with specific light-harvesting and energy transfer properties, and the general strategy is applicable to other spectral calculations in chemistry and condensed matter physics.

Abstract
To alleviate the computational cost associated with on-the-fly ab initio semiclassical calculations of molecular spectra, we propose the single-Hessian thawed Gaussian approximation in which the Hessian of the potential energy at all points along an anharmonic classical trajectory is approximated by a constant matrix. The spectra obtained with this approximation are compared with the exact quantum spectra of a one-dimensional Morse potential and with the experimental spectra of ammonia and quinquethiophene. In all cases, the single-Hessian version performs almost as well as the much more expensive on-the-fly ab initio thawed Gaussian approximation and significantly better than the global harmonic schemes. Remarkably, unlike the thawed Gaussian approximation, the proposed method conserves energy exactly, despite the time dependence of the corresponding effective Hamiltonian, and, in addition, can be mapped to a higher-dimensional time-independent classical Hamiltonian system. We also provide a detailed comparison with several related approximations used for accelerating prefactor calculations in semiclassical simulations.

Abstract
A procedure for calculating ro-vibronic transition intensities for triatomic molecules within the Born-Oppenheimer approximation is reported. Ro-vibrational energy levels and wavefunctions are obtained with the DVR3D suite, which solves the nuclear motion problem with an exact kinetic energy operator. Absolute transition intensities are calculated both with the Franck-Condon approximation and with a full transition dipole moment surface. The theoretical scheme is tested on C̃ 1B2 ← X̃ 1A1 ro-vibronic transitions of SO2. Ab initio potential energy and dipole moment surfaces are generated for this purpose. The calculated ro-vibronic transition intensities and cross sections are compared with the available experimental and theoretical data.

Abstract
We present a computational method for simulating vibronic absorption spectra in the ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) range and apply it to the 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane anion (TCNQ-), which has been used as a ligand in black absorbers. Gaussian broadening of vertical electronic excitation energies of TCNQ- from linear-response time-dependent density functional theory produces only one band, which is qualitatively incorrect. Thus, the harmonic vibrational modes of the two lowest doublet states were computed, and the vibronic UV-vis spectrum was simulated using the displaced harmonic oscillator approximation, the frequency-shifted harmonic oscillator approximation, and the full Duschinsky formalism. An efficient real-time generating function method was implemented to avoid the exponential complexity of conventional Franck-Condon approaches to vibronic spectra. The obtained UV-vis spectra for TCNQ- agree well with experiment; the Duschinsky rotation is found to have only a minor effect on the spectrum. Born-Oppenheimer molecular dynamics simulations combined with calculations of the electronic excitation energies for a large number of molecular structures were also used for simulating the UV-vis spectrum. The Born-Oppenheimer molecular dynamics simulations yield a broadening of the energetically lowest peak in the absorption spectrum, but additional vibrational bands present in the experimental and simulated quantum harmonic oscillator spectra are not observed in the molecular dynamics simulations. Our results underline the importance of vibronic effects for the UV-vis spectrum of TCNQ-, and they establish an efficient method for obtaining vibronic spectra using a combination of linear-response time-dependent density functional theory and a real-time generating function approach.
