Abstract
3-Aryl-1-phosphinoimidazo[1,5-a]pyridine ligands were synthesized from 2-aminomethylpyridine as the initial substrate via two complementary routes. The first synthetic pathway underwent the coupling of 2-aminomethylpyridine with substituted benzoyl chlorides, followed by cyclization, iodination and palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling phosphination reactions sequence to give our phosphorus ligands. In the second route, 2-aminomethylpyridine was cyclized with aryl aldehydes, followed by the iodination and palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling phosphination reactions to yield our phosphorus ligands. The 3-aryl-1-phosphinoimidazo[1,5-a]pyridine ligands were evaluated in palladium-catalyzed sterically-hindered biaryl and heterobiaryl Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions.

Abstract
Discovering efficient methods for the formation of carbon-carbon bonds is a central ongoing theme in organic synthesis. Cross-coupling reactions catalysed by metal nanoparticles are attractive alternatives to the traditional use of metal counterparts due to the catalytic tunability, selectivity, recyclability and reusability of the nanoparticles. The ongoing search for sustainable processes demands that reusable and environmentally benign catalysts are used. While the advantages of nanoparticles catalysts over bulk catalysts cannot be overemphasised, the problem of sintering, agglomeration and leaching are drawbacks to their full industrial applications. Hence, efforts are being made towards advancing the efficiency of the catalytic nanoparticle systems over the years. This review presents the progress, the challenges and the prospects of palladium nanoparticle with focus on Heck, Suzuki, Hiyama and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions involving (hetero) aryl halides and the analogues.

Abstract
A new biaryl phosphine-containing ligand from an active palladium catalyst for ppm level Suzuki-Miyaura couplings, enabled by an aqueous micellar reaction medium. A wide array of functionalized substrates including aryl/heteroaryl bromides are amenable, as are, notably, chlorides. The catalytic system is both general and highly effective at low palladium loadings (1000-2500 ppm or 0.10-0.25 mol%). Density functional theory calculations suggest that greater steric congestion in N2Phos induces increased steric crowding around the Pd center, helping to destabilize the 2 : 1 ligand-Pd(0) complex more for N2Phos than for EvanPhos (and less bulky ligands), and thereby favoring formation of the 1 : 1 ligand-Pdo complex that is more reactive in oxidative addition to aryl chlorides.
