Abstract
This review focuses on some interesting and recent applications of transition metals towards the complexation of thiosemicarbazides, thiocarbohydrazides, and their corresponding carbazones. We started the review with a description of the chosen five metals, including Cu[Cu(I), Cu(II], Co(II), Ni(II), Pd(II), and Ag(I) and their electronic configurations. The stability of the assigned complexes was also discussed. We shed light on different routes describing the synthesis of these ligands. We also reported on different examples of the synthesis of Cu(I), Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Ag(I), and Pd(II) of thiosemicarbazide and thiocarbohydrazide complexes (until 2022). This review also deals with a summary of the fruitful use of metal complexes of thiosemicarbazones and thiocarbazones ligands in the field of catalysis. Finally, this recent review focuses on the applications of these complexes related to their biological importance.

Abstract
Cathepsin X is a cysteine carboxypeptidase that is involved in various physiological and pathological processes. In particular, highly elevated expression and activity of cathepsin X has been observed in cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. Previously, we identified compound Z9 (1-(2,3-dihydrobenzo[b][1,4]dioxin-6-yl)-2-((4-isopropyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)ethan-1-one) as a potent and specific reversible cathepsin X inhibitor. Here, we have explored the effects of chemical variations to Z9 of either benzodioxine or triazol moieties, and the importance of the central ketomethylenethio linker. The ketomethylenethio linker was crucial for cathepsin X inhibition, whereas changes of the triazole heterocycle did not alter the inhibitory potencies to a greater extent. Replacement of benzodioxine moiety with substituted benzenes reduced cathepsin X inhibition. Overall, several synthesized compounds showed similar or improved inhibitory potencies against cathepsin X compared to Z9, with IC50 values of 7.1 μM-13.6 μM. Additionally, 25 inhibited prostate cancer cell migration by 21%, which is under the control of cathepsin X.

Abstract
A new series of stable transition metal complexes of the formula M(L)X·S, where M = Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(III), Cr(III) and Fe(III) and L is the deprotonated ligand of 4-hydroxy-coumarin-3-thiocarbohydrazone, X = Cl(-), NO(3)(-) or CH(3)COO(-) and S = H(2)O and/or EtOH. The HL ligand was prepared by the reaction of 3-formyl-4-hydroxy-coumarine with thiocarbohydrazide in the molar ratio 1:1. The HL ligand and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, (1)H NMR, IR and electronic spectra, and molar conductance and magnetic measurements and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The HL ligand acts as a monobasic tridentate ONS donor in all metal complexes, and coordinated through the phenolic OH, azomethine nitrogen and thione sulfur. Electronic spectra with magnetic moments suggested varieties of geometries around the central metal atoms. Thermal gravimetric analysis indicates that the complexes are stable up to 300°C, and release the uncoordinated and/or coordinated H(2)O/solvent molecules, which is accompanied by a color change. The formed complexes after releasing the solvent were investigated and their structures are suggested to have square planar or octahedral arrangement. Pharmacodynamic of cobalt(III) complex on some biochemical parameters and histological studies in serum and heart tissue in rats have been studied. Although the complexes demonstrated a significant effect at low dose than the high dose, the ligand showed significant good effects in both high and low doses on the biochemical analysis in serum and heart tissue. Cobalt complex was screened in order to evaluate its antifungal activity against the filamentous fungi Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus fumigatus, and Aspergillus flavus, and antibacterial activity against the Candida albicans, Escherichia coli, Klebseilla pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Abstract
Background The importance of the isatinic quinolyl hydrazones arises from incorporating the quinoline ring with the indole ring. Quinoline ring has therapeutic and biological activities whereas, the indole ring occurs in Jasmine flowers and Orange blossoms. As a ligand, the isatin moiety is potentially ambidentate and can coordinate the metal ions either through its lactam or lactim forms. In a previous study, the ligational behavior of a phenolic quinolyl hydrazone towards copper(II)- ions has been studied. As continuation of our interest, the present study is planned to check the ligational behavior of an isatinic quinolyl hydrazone. Results New homo- and heteroleptic copper(II)- complexes were obtained from the reaction of an isatinic quinolyl hydrazone (HL) with several copper(II)- salts viz. Clˉ, Brˉ, NO3ˉ, ClO4-, SO42- and AcO-. The obtained complexes have Oh, Td and D4h- symmetry and fulfill the strong coordinating ability of Clˉ, Brˉ, NO3ˉ and SO42- anions. Depending on the type of the anion, the ligand coordinates the copper(II)- ions either through its lactam (NO3ˉ and ClO4-) or lactim (the others) forms. Conclusion The effect of anion for the same metal ion is obvious from either the geometry of the isolated complexes (Oh, Td and D4h) or the various modes of bonding. Also, the obtained complexes fulfill the strong coordinating ability of Clˉ, Brˉ, NO3ˉ and SO42- anions in consistency with the donor ability of the anions. In case of copper(II)- acetate, a unique homoleptic complex (5) was obtained in which the AcO- anion acts as a base enough to quantitatively deprotonate the hydrazone. The isatinic hydrazone uses its lactim form in most complexes.

Abstract
A novel chelating agent (Sqtsc; H(4)L) bearing both hard and soft donor atoms was synthesized by the condensation of squaric acid with thiosemicarbazide. The ligand has two symmetrical sets of donor atoms (SNO), therefore, it was allowed to react with the metal ions at the mole ratio 2:1 (M:L). Mono- and bi-nuclear chelates were obtained in which the ligand showed a variety of modes of bonding viz. (OO)(2-), (SNNS)(2-) and (SNO)(2-) per each metal ion supporting the ambidentate and flexidentate characters of the ligand. The mode of bonding and basicity of the ligand depend mainly on the type of the metal cation and its counter anion. All the obtained complexes have the preferable O(h)-geometry except the VO(II)-complex (7) which has also the preferable square pyramid geometry. Structural elucidation was achieved via elemental and spectral data.

Abstract
The binuclear Schiff base, H2L, ligand was synthesized by reaction of 4,6-diacetylresorcinol with diethylenetriamine in the molar ratio 1:2. The coordination behavior of the H2L towards Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Fe(III), Cr(III), VO(IV) and UO2(VI) ions has been investigated. The elemental analyses, magnetic moments, thermal studies and IR, electronic, 1H NMR, ESR and mass spectra were used to characterize the isolated ligand and its metal complexes. The ligand acts as dibasic with two N3O-tetradentate sites and can coordinate with two metal ions to form binuclear complexes. The bonding sites are the nitrogen atoms of the azomethine and amine groups and the oxygen atoms of the phenolic groups. The metal complexes exhibit either square planar, tetrahedral, square pyramid or octahedral structures. The Schiff base ligand and its metal complexes were tested against four pathogenic bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes) as Gram-positive bacteria, and (Pseudomonas fluorescens and Pseudomonas phaseolicola) as Gram-negative bacteria and two pathogenic fungi (Fusarium oxysporum and Aspergillus fumigatus) to assess their antimicrobial properties. Most of the complexes exhibit mild antibacterial and antifungal activities against these organisms.
