Abstract
Cationic Zn phthalocyanine complexes derived by alkylation reaction of tetra-(pyridinyloxy) phthalocyanines at the ortho, meta, and para positions to form Zn (II) Tetrakis 3-(4-(2-pyridin-1-ium-1-yl) butyl)-2-mercapto-4,5-dihydrothiazol-3-ium phthalocyanine (2), Zn (II) Tetrakis 3-(4-(3-pyridin-1-ium-1-yl) butyl)-2-mercapto-4,5-dihydrothiazol-3-ium phthalocyanine (4) and Zn (II) Tetrakis 3-(4-(4-pyridin-1-ium-1-yl) butyl)-2-mercapto-4,5-dihydrothiazol-3-ium phthalocyanine (6). The photophysicochemical behaviours of the Pc complexes are assessed. The meta and para-substituted complexes demonstrate high singlet oxygen quantum yields. The cationic Pcs demonstrate good planktonic antibacterial activity towards Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli with the highest log reduction values of 9.29 and 8.55, respectively. The cationic complexes also demonstrate a significant decrease in the viability of in vitro biofilms after photo-antimicrobial chemotherapy at 100 µM for both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli biofilms.

Abstract
In the first step, (4R)-2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (c) and 2-(2-(3,4-dicyanophenoxy)phenyl)thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (1) were prepared. Then, the peripherally tetra-substituted metallophthalocyanines [ZnPc (2), CuPc (3), and CoPc (4)] were synthesized by using 1. The structures of the obtained compounds were characterized by common spectroscopic methods. Aggregation behaviors of the tetra-substituted metallophthalocyanines (2-4) were investigated by UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy in the presence/absence of soft metal ions. The electronic spectra of the newly synthesized metallophthalocyanines [ZnPc (2), CuPc (3), and CoPc (4)] were analyzed by the Bayliss method. The fluorescence quantum yield of diamagnetic ZnPc (2) was obtained in DMSO at room temperature. Also, the anticancer activity of the newly synthesized metallophthalocyanine derivatives was studied on C6, DU-145, and WI-38 cell lines and investigated using six concentrations (3.125; 6.25; 12.5; 50; 75; 100 μg L-1). The cell cycle and apoptosis analyses of CuPc (3) were performed. In addition, the chemical and biological activities of 2-(2-(3,4-dicyanophenoxy)phenyl)thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (1) and its novel type metallophthalocyanines [ZnPc (2), CuPc (3), and CoPc (4)] were compared with many parameters obtained from the Gaussian software and molecular docking methods.

Abstract
In recent years, much effort has been devoted to the development of effective anticancer agents. In this manner, the utilization of water-soluble sulfonated phthalocyanines is crucial for many cancer cell lines. In this study, phthalonitrile and metallophthalocyanine compounds linked by benzenesulfonic acid groups have been prepared. Antimicrobial behaviors of those compounds were investigated by performing disk diffusion and photodynamic assays on gram-positive and negative bacteria. Indium phthalocyanine (InClPc) (3) showed inhibition activity against B. cereus, B. subtilis and S. aureus with disk diffusion assay. Also, gallium and indium phthalocyanines (2 and 3) exhibited inhibitory activity on both gram-positive and -negative microorganisms after light activation. Increasing the inhibitor concentration and light exposure time increased the inhibition activity for both molecules. GaClPc (2) demonstrated the maximum reducing power capacity among studied compounds, and CoPc (4) showed even better DPPH radical scavenging ability than the standard molecule Trolox at 2000 µg mL-1 concentration. The dose-dependent effect of compounds on cytotoxicity was studied against cancer cells PANC-1, MDA-MB-231, HepG2, A549, HeLa, CaCo-2 and non-tumorigenic cells HEK-293. All compounds showed no significant cytotoxic effect on any cell line up to the highest treated concentration at 50 µg mL-1 . However, all phthalocyanines had significant nitric oxide inhibition activity, and only in copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) (5), the MTT IC50 value was reached on LPS-activated RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. The lowest inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) IC50 values were defined as 6 ± 1 μg mL-1 and 7 ± 0.5 μg mL-1 for CuPc (5) and InClPc (3), respectively.

Abstract
In this study, firstly, 3-(2,3-bis(hexadecylthio)propoxy)phthalonitrile (2) as a new phthalonitrile derivative was prepared. Then, new types of non-peripheral phthalocyanine derivatives [CuPc (3), ZnPc (4), and CoPc (5)] were synthesized by using this ligand. The synthesized new compounds were characterized by common spectroscopic methods such as FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MALDI-TOF, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. The H- or J-type aggregation behaviors of novel type metallophthalocyanines in the presence of valuable metal ions such as Ag(i) and Pd(ii) were investigated by UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. The quenching efficiency of the Ag(i) and Pd(ii) ions for ZnPc (4) was obtained using the Stern-Volmer equation and the quenching constant of ZnPc (4) towards Ag(i) and Pd(ii) ions was found to be 2.9 × 105 mol L-1 and 1.2 × 105 mol L-1, respectively. The binding constant (Ka) and binding stoichiometry (n) of Ag(i) and Pd(ii) ions for ZnPc (5) were calculated using a modified Benesi-Hildebrand equation, and were found to be 1.4 × 108 M-1 and 3.4 × 107 M-1, respectively. The binding ratio and free energy change of Ag(i) and Pd(ii) ions for ZnPc (4) were found to be 1.86, 1.54, -46.49 kJ mol-1 and -42.9 kJ mol-1, respectively. Also, the antioxidant properties of the synthesized novel type metallophthalocyanines and their Ag(i) and Pd(ii) ion doped aggregates were determined using three different methods: DPPH free radical scavenging activity, ferrous ion chelating activity and reducing power activity. Finally, the antibacterial and antifungal activities of phthalocyanine compounds synthesized within the scope of this study were determined by disc diffusion and macrobroth dilution methods and the effect of the doping of Ag(i) and Pd(ii) ions on the antibacterial activities of phthalocyanines was investigated.

Abstract
In this study, a new fluorinated phthalonitrile compound namely 5-bis[4-(trifluoromethoxy)-thiophenyl] phthalonitrile was synthesized. In addition, peripherally substituted symmetric metallated phthalocyanine derivatives [M = Co (2) and M = Zn (3)] and unsymmetrically substituted zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) complex (4) were synthesized by cyclotetramerization of this phthalonitrile compound. Characterization of all new compounds was carried out using FT-IR, NMR, UV-Vis, and mass spectroscopy. Additionally, antioxidant activity, DNA cleavage activity, antimicrobial activity, biofilm inhibition activity, and bacterial viability inhibition test of the compounds (1-4) were investigated. The antioxidant activities of the new phthalocyanine complexes were studied by performing two different methods. The results indicated that the highest DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging activity was determined to be 67.85% for 2 and also 3 showed the highest activity with 31.65% for chelating activity at 200 mg L-1 concentration. Phthalocyanine compounds demonstrated effective DNA cleavage and antimicrobial activities. The highest percentage of cell vitality inhibition was found for compound 4, 56.92%. Also, test compounds exhibited good biofilm inhibition activity.

Abstract
The synthesis of 4-(thiophen-3-ylethynyl)phthalonitrile was achieved via the Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction. Herein, we report the synthesis of symmetrical metallo-phthalocyanines with cobalt, zinc, and manganese as the metal ions, and tetrakis(ethynylthiophene) groups substituted at the peripheral positions. The new compounds have been characterized by using mass, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR and UV-vis spectroscopy. Dark and photoconductivity measurements were carried out on spin coated thiophene substituted metallo-phthalocyanines at various temperatures fixed between 300 and 440 K. Photocurrent generation and charge transport mechanisms are discussed as well. The evaluation of the photoconductive properties of these compounds indicated that the photocurrent generation efficiency and charge transport mechanism exhibited a strong temperature dependence. On the other hand, conductivity measurements revealed that the temperature dependence of the conductivity can be described by the Arrhenius type exponential equation under dark conditions. Furthermore, it was found that the photoconductive behavior of the film can be described successfully by the variable range hopping model for the whole investigated temperature range.

Abstract
This study presents a novel phthalonitrile derivative (2) bearing (trifluoromethoxy)phenoxy groups in 4,5 positions. Cyclotetramerization of (2) in [Formula: see text],[Formula: see text]-dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) gave a series of peripherally octa-substituted metallophthalocyanines (3-Zn, 3-Co and 3-Cu). The newly synthesized phthalocyanines have been characterized by a combination of various spectroscopic techniques. Effects of solvent nature on aggregation behavior of 3-Zn were studied using different solvents such as acetone, CHCl3 and dichloromethane (DCM). In addition, the aggregation behavior of the phthalocyanine complex 3-Zn was examined in DCM at different concentrations ranging from 4 × 10[Formula: see text]–14 × 10[Formula: see text] M. Antimicrobial activities of synthesized compounds were tested by using the thin layer chromotography (TLC)-direct bioautography and disk diffusion methods. In both assays, the molecules showed activity on the tested Gram (+) bacteria. Antioxidant activities of the molecules, on the other hand, were determined by using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging method and a reducing power assay. The highest activity was obtained with 3-ZnPc for both methods.
