Abstract
The number of childhood cancer survivors is increasing rapidly. According to American Association for Cancer Research, there are more than 750,000 childhood cancer survivors in the United States and Europe. As the number of childhood cancer survivors increases, so does cancer treatment-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD), leading to heart failure (HF). It has been reported that childhood cancer survivors who received anthracyclines are 15 times more likely to have late cancer treatment-related HF and have a 5-fold higher risk of death from cardiovascular (CV) disease than the general population. CV disease is the leading cause of death in childhood cancer survivors. The increasing need to manage cancer survivor patients has led to the rapid creation and adaptation of cardio-oncology. Cardio-oncology is a multidisciplinary science that monitors, treats, and prevents CTRCD. Many guidelines and position statements have been published to help diagnose and manage CTRCD, including those from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the European Society of Cardiology, the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, the European Society of Medical Oncology, the International Late Effects of Childhood Cancer Guideline Harmonization Group, and many others. However, there remains a gap in identifying high-risk patients likely to develop cardiomyopathy and HF in later life, thus reducing primary and secondary measures being instituted, and when to start treatment when there is echocardiographic evidence of left ventricular (LV) dysfunctions without symptoms of HF. There are no randomized controlled clinical trials for treatment for CTRCD leading to HF in childhood cancer survivors. The treatment of HF due to cancer treatment is similar to the guidelines for general HF. This review describes the latest pharmacologic therapy for preventing and treating LV dysfunction and HF in childhood cancer survivors based on expert consensus guidelines and extrapolating data from adult HF trials.

Abstract
Food consumption patterns have undergone changes that in recent years have resulted in serious health problems. Studies based on the evaluation of the nutritional status have determined that the adoption of a food pattern-based primarily on a Mediterranean diet (MD) has a preventive role, as well as the ability to mitigate the negative effects of certain pathologies. A group of more than 500 adults aged over 40 years from our cohort in Northwestern Spain was surveyed. Under our experimental design, 10 experiments were run with four different machine-learning algorithms and the predictive factors most relevant to the adherence of a MD were identified. A feature selection approach was explored and under a null hypothesis test, it was concluded that only 16 measures were of relevance, suggesting the strength of this observational study. Our findings indicate that the following factors have the highest predictive value in terms of the degree of adherence to the MD: basal metabolic rate, mini nutritional assessment questionnaire total score, weight, height, bone density, waist-hip ratio, smoking habits, age, EDI-OD, circumference of the arm, activity metabolism, subscapular skinfold, subscapular circumference in cm, circumference of the waist, circumference of the calf and brachial area.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the potential risk factors for overweight/obesity in survivors of childhood cancer. Design: A retrospective chart review of childhood cancer survivors (N = 321) seen in a cancer survivor clinic was conducted to determine the strongest risks of overweight/obesity. Risk factors were as follows: age, race, gender, cancer diagnosis, body mass index at diagnosis, and treatment. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify risks of overweight/obesity while simultaneously adjusting for other patient factors. Findings: Data suggested that female cancer survivors, Hispanics, those with higher body mass index at diagnosis, and those with longer duration of treatment had greater odds of being overweight/obese. Conclusions: Many of the risk factors for overweight/obesity in childhood cancer survivors are consistent with the general population, and length of cancer treatment is unique to this population. Implications for Nursing: Findings from this study will inform care for childhood cancer survivors to improve long-term cardiovascular health.
