Abstract
Ring-opening of furans at the equatorial methylene bridge positions of a calix[4]arene gives access to a range of new molecules (in good yield) that have widespread potential impact in supramolecular chemistry amongst other areas.

Abstract
A large S-shaped [MnIII5MnII2]2 assembly (∼40 Å top to tail) has been formed with bis-p-tBu-calix[4]arene and 2-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine as a co-ligand, with the former existing unusually in both syn and anti-conformations (as shown).

Abstract
Lithiation of the calix[6]arene methyl ether 2 followed by reaction with O2 yields derivatives with two opposite methylene groups hydroxylated. Calix[6]arenes with two opposite bridges functionalized with alkoxy, azido, and m-xylyl groups were prepared via reaction of a dichlorocalix[6]arene derivative with nucleophiles.
