Abstract
To realize water and resource recovery from anaerobically digested manure centrate, the effect of combined coagulation and membrane treatment on contaminant residuals and membrane fouling was investigated. Two combined treatments were used to explore the properties of the retention of nutrients and the removal of risk pollutants. Behaviors and reversibility of membrane fouling after combined treatment were also examined. The result showed that the combined treatment significantly improved the water recovery rate by more than 60% and achieved better nutrient enrichment. Meanwhile, the combined treatment had certain removal effects on heavy metals and antibiotics, which promoted the safety of farmland utilization of anaerobically digested manure centrate. Moreover, the combined treatment reduced the membrane fouling by removing most suspended solids in the digested centrate. Combined coagulation and membrane treatment show great potential for practical applications in the treatment of anaerobically digested manure centrate due to the easy operation and excellent effect. This work provides a technical reference for the harmless and resource recovery of anaerobically digested manure centrate.

Abstract
A high concentration of suspended solids (SS) in swine wastewater reduces the efficiency of the biological treatment process. The current study developed a short-cut combined magnetic coagulation (MC)-sequence batch membrane bioreactor (SMBR) process to treat swine wastewater. Compared with the single SMBR process, the combined process successfully achieved similarly high removal efficiencies of chemical oxygen demand (COD), total nitrogen (TN), ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N), and total phosphorous (TP) of 96.0%, 97.6%, 99.0%, and 69.1%, respectively, at dosages of 0.5 g/L of poly aluminium chloride (PAC), 2 mg/L of polyacrylamide (PAM), and 1 g/L of magnetic seeds in Stage II, and concentrations of TN, COD, and NH4+-N in effluent can meet the discharge standards for pollutants for livestock and poultry breeding (GB18596-2001, China). The nitrogen removal loading (NRL) was increased from 0.21 to 0.28 kg/(m3·d), and the hydraulic retention time (HRT) was shortened from 5.0 days to 4.3 days. High-throughput sequencing analysis was carried out to investigate microbial community evolution, and the results showed that the relative abundance of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) in the SMBR increased from 0.1% without pre-treatment to 1.78% with the pre-treatment of MC.

Abstract
This study investigated the removal of antibiotics by sequencing-batch membrane bioreactor (SMBR) for swine wastewater treatment. Nine compounds categorized into three groups of commonly used veterinary antibiotics, namely sulfonamides, tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones, were evaluated. Results showed that both sulfonamides and tetracyclines were efficiently removed by SMBR (>90%) while a lower removal was observed for fluoroquinolones (<70%). Mass balance analysis evidenced that biodegradation/biotransformation was the main mechanism for the removal of antibiotics in SMBR operation. Moreover, sludge adsorption and membrane retention also slightly contributed to antibiotic removal. Of the three groups of antibiotics, tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones were more prone to accumulate in biosolids. It is noteworthy that antibiotics temporarily affected SMBR performance by inhibiting sludge growth and activity as well as increasing the concentrations of extracellular polymeric substances and soluble microbial products in the mixed liquor. Nevertheless, >60% of organic matter and nutrients in swine wastewater could be removed over SMBR operation.
