Abstract
ETHNIC PHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Anxiety or depression after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is a common clinical disease. Currently, conventional pharmacotherapy primarily involves the administration of anxiolytic or antidepressant medications in conjunction with anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, and other cardiovascular drugs. However, challenges such as drug dependence, adverse reactions and related concerns persist in the treatment of this disease. Numerous pertinent studies have demonstrated that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) exhibits significant therapeutic efficacy and distinctive advantages in managing post-PCI anxiety or depression. AIM OF THIS REVIEW This review attempted to summarize the characteristics of TCM for treating anxiety or depression after PCI, including single Chinese herbs, Chinese medicine monomers, compound TCM prescriptions, TCM patented drugs, and other TCM-related treatment methods, focusing on the analysis of the relevant mechanism of TCM treatment of this disease. METHODS By searching the literature on treating anxiety or depression after PCI with TCM in PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, and other relevant databases, this review focuses on the latest research progress of TCM treatment of this disease. RESULTS In the treatment of anxiety or depression after PCI, TCM exerts significant pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-anxiety or anti-depression, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular protection, and neuroprotection, mainly by regulating the levels of related inflammatory factors, oxidative stress markers, neurotransmitter levels, and related signaling pathways. TCM has a good clinical effect in treating anxiety or depression after PCI with individualized treatment. CONCLUSIONS TCM has terrific potential and good prospects in the treatment of anxiety or depression after PCI. The main direction of future exploration is the study of the mechanism related to Chinese medicine monomers and the large sample clinical study related to compound TCM prescriptions.

Abstract
Anxiety or depression after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is one of the key clinical problems in cardiology that need to be solved urgently. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) may be a potential biomarker for the pathogenesis and treatment of anxiety or depression after PCI. This article reviews the correlation between BDNF and cardiovascular system and nervous system from the aspects of synthesis, release and action site of BDNF, and focuses on the latest research progress of the mechanism of BDNF in anxiety or depression after PCI. It includes the specific mechanisms by which BDNF regulates the levels of inflammatory factors, reduces oxidative stress damage, and mediates multiple signaling pathways. In addition, this review summarizes the therapeutic potential of BDNF as a potential biomarker for anxiety or depression after PCI.

Abstract
In this randomized, single-center, clinical study we aimed to compare the oxidative stress response in patients undergoing diagnostic transradial or transfemoral elective coronary angiography. Sixty patients with stable angina pectoris undergoing elective coronary angiography to either transradial ( n = 30) or transfemoral ( n = 30) approach were included. The levels of plasma total oxidative status (TOS) were measured and compared just before and immediately after the procedure in both groups. The clinical and laboratory findings were compatible between the two groups. Although the levels of plasma total oxidative status after coronary angiography were increased in both groups (TF pTOS 20. ± :3; 34 ± 3 vs TR pTOS 18 ± 2; 23 ± 4), this was more pronounced in the transfemoral group as compared with the transradial group (ΔpTOS: 11 ± 4 vs 4 ± 3, p < 0.001) In correlation analysis, TOS levels and white blood cell counts ( r = 0.25, p = 0.042), total cholesterol levels ( r = 0.267, p = 0.041), triglyceride levels ( r = 0.253, p = 0.049), serum creatinine levels ( r = 0.260, p = 0.043) were found to be moderately positively correlated. This study showed that oxidative stress response associated with heart catheterization is more evident in patients undergoing transfemoral coronary angiography versus transradial coronary angiography.

Abstract
Oxidative stress is linked to coronary artery disease and is a major mechanism in contrast-induced nephropathy. Trans-radial approach in coronary angiography (CA) with minimized peri-procedural bleeding is expected to reduce acute kidney injury incidence. In the present study, oxidative stress patterns observed in radial CA and their associations with early manifestations of kidney injury are described. A total of 20 stable coronary disease patients submitted to CA and 17 sex-matched patients undergoing computed tomography for myoskeletal reasons were enrolled. Reduced glutathione, catalase, thiobarbituric acid reactive species (TBARS) levels and total anti-oxidant status were measured at various time points postangiography. In ischemic patients baseline TBARS levels were 2-fold lower compared to controls, while carbonyls levels were 35% higher. Glutathione was almost 4-fold lower than the control group. Glutathione and lipid peroxidation in ischemic patients gradually increased after contrast medium administration and reached 180% (P<0.001) and 20% (P=0.021) after 4–6 h, respectively. Four patients presented early evidence of contrast-induced nephropathy postangiography, while no control patient developed acute kidney injury. In the multiple logistic regression analysis, only the creatinine levels at baseline influenced the frequency of early contrast-induced nephropathy development (β =0.36, 95% CI: 0.285–0.438, P=0.01). Glutathione low levels were dominant in the baseline values of ischemic patients who developed contrast-induced nephropathy. Glutathione levels rapidly increased while protein oxidation decreased at the expense of lipid peroxidation. In conclusion, early oxidative stress changes occur in trans-radial CA patients with a mild profile, sufficient to mobilize patient antioxidant defenses.
