Abstract
Although several studies have analyzed the effects of spirituality on stroke survivors' physical functioning and their caregiver's outcomes, no systematic review or meta-synthesis was found to identify the lived experiences of stroke survivors and caregivers regarding spirituality. For these reasons, this study aimed to analyze quantitively and qualitatively research relating to stroke survivors' and caregivers' experiences. The included studies were RCT studies, quasi-experimental studies, qualitative, descriptive, ethnographic, and phenomenological studies, and cross-sectional studies (n = 37), with a total of 6850 stroke survivors and 1953 caregivers enrolled. Spirituality appears to play an important role in improving the quality of life and decreasing anxiety and depression of both stroke survivors and their caregivers.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to characterize the unmet needs and concerns of working-age caregivers of stroke survivors and to explore the relationships between these unmet needs and concerns and factors such as stroke survivor functional independence, caregiver strain, caregiver self-efficacy, caregiver perceived social support, and caregiver quality of life (QoL). DESIGN Cross-sectional descriptive design was used in this study. METHODS Participants ( N = 103) completed an online survey. Descriptive statistics, bivariate Pearson correlation, and linear regression analysis was performed. RESULTS Negative correlations were found between caregiver needs and concerns and both stroke survivor functional independence and caregiver self-efficacy. Positive correlations were identified between caregiver needs and concerns and caregiver strain. In multiple regression models, stroke survivor functional independence, caregiver self-efficacy, race, and gender were statistically significantly associated with caregiver QoL. CLINICAL RELEVANCE TO THE PRACTICE OF REHABILITATION NURSING Results of this study can inform nurses as they collaborate with informal caregivers and researchers in optimizing the rehabilitation and discharge process and aiding in the support of caregiver QoL. CONCLUSION Working-age caregivers of stroke survivors expressed many needs and concerns. These needs, along with other factors, can affect outcomes including QoL in caregivers and stroke survivors.

Abstract
Background The incidence and recurrence rate of acute pancreatitis (AP) continues to increase worldwide. The risk of AP attack and recurrence is closely related to the patient's health literacy. Previous studies have shown that AP patients had low levels of health literacy. Understanding patients' experience in AP's diagnosis and treatment process and their health literacy needs might significantly improve their health status. Objective This study aims to understand the experience of acute pancreatitis (AP) patients in the diagnostic and treatment process and explore their health literacy needs at various phases of this process. Methods This study utilized a qualitative approach based on Timing It Right theory. A purposive sampling strategy was employed to select 31 participants diagnosed with AP at various phases of the diagnosis and treatment process. These patients were selected from the Pancreatitis Treatment Centers of two tertiary hospitals in Eastern China. Subsequently, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with the selected participants. The qualitative data was analyzed using the Colaizzi's method. Results The themes of AP patients' experiences and health literacy needs at various phases of the diagnosis and treatment process were presented as follows. 1. Diagnosis phase: inability to obtain disease information, psychological support seeking, and change unhealthy lifestyle; 2. Hospitalization phase: disease treatment information needs and medical professionals' healthcare. 3. Discharge Preparation phase: fear of recurrence, individualized healthy lifestyle instruction. 4. Home Recovery phase: self-management, continuous healthcare needs, and family support. Conclusion AP patients' HL needs and health-related problems vary during the diagnosis and treatment process. Medical professionals should comprehend AP patients' changing needs and individual differences, provide continuous healthcare, and involve families in patient management. These factors support patients' long-term self-management and preserve their overall health.

Abstract
PURPOSE Understanding navigational barriers and facilitators has the potential to advance equitable stroke care delivery. The aim of this study was to explore, using a qualitative study, the experiences of stroke survivors and their families as they journey through the stroke care system, both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 stroke survivors and 12 family members during 2021 and 2022. Participants were recruited through voluntary organisations, social media, and stroke support groups. Data analysis followed a systematic process guided by the framework method with steps including familiarisation, coding, framework development, and charting and interpretation. RESULTS The experiences of navigating stroke care were particularly challenging following discharge from hospital into the community. Barriers to stroke care continuity included insufficient appropriate services and information, unsatisfactory relationships with healthcare professionals and distressed mental health. There were particular navigational challenges for survivors with aphasia. Facilitators to effective navigation included having prior knowledge of the health system, harnessing support for care co-ordination, and being persistent. CONCLUSION Greater support for patient navigation, and person-centred referral pathways, particularly during times of increased pressure on the system, have the potential to improve access to services and wellbeing among stroke survivors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Stroke service disparities experienced by individuals of African descent highlight the need to optimize services. While qualitative studies have explored participants' unique experiences and service needs, a comprehensive synthesis is lacking. To address current knowledge gaps, this review aimed to synthesize existing literature on the experiences of individuals of African descent impacted by a stroke living in high-income economy countries in terms of stroke prevention, management, and care. METHODS A qualitative meta-synthesis incorporating a meta-study approach was conducted to obtain comprehensive and interpretive insights on the study topic. Four databases were searched to identify qualitative English-language studies published in the year 2022 or earlier on the experiences of adults of African descent who were at risk or impacted by a stroke and living in high-income economy countries. Study methods, theory, and data were analyzed using descriptive and interpretive analyses. RESULTS Thirty-seven studies met our inclusion criteria, including 29 journal articles and 8 dissertations. Multiple authors reported recruitment as a key challenge in study conduct. Multiple existing theories and frameworks of health behaviours, beliefs, self-efficacy, race, and family structure informed research positionality, questions, and analysis across studies. Participant experiences were categorized as (1) engagement in stroke prevention activities and responses to stroke symptoms, (2) self-management and self-identity after stroke, and (3) stroke care experiences. CONCLUSIONS This study synthesizes the experiences and needs of individuals of African descent impacted by stroke. Findings can help tailor stroke interventions across the stroke care continuum, as they suggest the need for intersectional and culturally humble care approaches.

Abstract
Background The caregivers play vital roles in the health care of hemodialysis patients. Ineffective education strategy for the caregivers negatively affects the care ability of caregivers. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the teach-back method based on the "Timing it Right" framework on the caregivers' care ability, emotions and health-related quality of life for hemodialysis patients. Methods The study involved 78 caregivers of 78 hemodialysis patients. Participants in the control group received routine nursing care and traditional oral health education, while those in the intervention group received health education through the teach-back method based on the "Timing it Right" framework. All participants were followed for 6 months. The degree of anxiety and depression of caregivers was evaluated through the Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), respectively. The care ability of caregivers was assessed by the Family Caregiver Task Inventory (FCTI). The health-related quality of life of hemodialysis patients was evaluated using the 36-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Results Compared to baseline (T0), the SAS, SDS and FCTI scores of the intervention group were significantly reduced at the time of discharge (T1), three (T2) and 6 months (T3) (all p < 0.001). Besides, at T1, T2, and T3, the FCTI scores of the intervention group were significantly lower than that in control group (all p < 0.001). The SAS and SDS scores were also significantly lower in the intervention group at T1, T2, and T3 compared to the control group (all p < 0.001). For SF-36 scores, all domains of the intervention group were significantly higher than those of the control group at T1, T2 and T3, including physical functioning (p < 0.001), role physical (p = 0.007), bodily pain (p < 0.001), general health (p = 0.002), vitality (p = 0.043), social functioning (p = 0.016), role emotional (p = 0.002), and mental health(p = 0.025). Conclusion The application of teach-back method based on the "Timing it Right" framework could obviously alleviate the anxiety and depression of caregivers for hemodialysis patients. Furthermore, it could significantly improve the care ability of caregivers and the quality of life of patients.

Abstract
Objective To conduct a scoping review of mobile health (mHealth) application (app) interventions to support needs of adults living with the effects of stroke reported in the literature. Data Sources PubMed, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and Scopus were systematically searched for peer-reviewed publications. Articles were published between January 2007 and September 2020 and met predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Study Selection Articles included were written in English language, involved adults older than 18 years, and described an mHealth app specifically tested and/or developed as an intervention for someone with stroke to be used remotely and/or independently without constant provider supervision or assistance. Articles were excluded if they focused on acute management of stroke only, focused on primary prevention, were animal studies, were not an app for smartphone or tablet, and did not describe an empirical study. Data Extraction Two researchers independently screened titles and abstracts for inclusion. The full-text articles were then reviewed for eligibility by the research team. Data were extracted and verified by a third reviewer. Data Synthesis The search yielded 2123 studies and 49 were included for data extraction. The findings reveal that a global surge of studies on mHealth apps for people with stroke have emerged within the past 2 years. Most studies were developed for persons with stroke in the United States and the primary content foci included upper extremity function (31.5%); lower extremity function (5.3%); general exercise, physical activity, and/or functional mobility (23.7%); trunk control (5.3%); medical management and secondary prevention (26.3%); language and speech skills (20.5%); cognitive skills (7.9%); general disability and activities of daily living (5.3%); and home safety (2.6%). Of the included studies, a majority were preliminary in nature, with 36.7% being categorized as pilot or feasibility trials and 24.4% discussing initial design, development, and/or refinement. Conclusions Results from this study reveal that the number of apps specifically developed for people with stroke and described in the scientific literature are growing exponentially. The apps have widely varied content to meet the needs of persons with stroke; however, the studies are generally preliminary in nature, focusing on development, usability, and initial pilot testing. This review highlights the need for additional research and development of mHealth apps targeted for adults with stroke. Development should consider the various and complex needs of people living with the effects of chronic stroke, while large-scale trials are needed to build on the existing evidence.
