Abstract
In the present research, the adsorption and release of chlormethine (CM) drug on the B24O24 nanocage have been reported in the water media and gas phase at GGA/PBE/DNP computational level. The interaction between B24O24 nanocage and CM drug shows that adsorptions of the chlormethine on B24O24 nanocage for the most stable complexes are - 1.47 to - 1.36 eV in the gas phase and water media, respectively. The CM adsorption caused a notable change in the band gap (Eg) and work function (Φ) of the B24O24 nanocage in the studied complexes. The binding of chlormethine to B24O24 also significantly increased the polarity of the drug carrier, which is a desirable property for drug delivery in biological environments. CM drugs can be released from the nanocage in the presence of an external electric field along the X-axis direction. The present study results show that the B24O24 nanocage is a possible carrier for delivering chlormethine drugs.

Abstract
Graphyne (GYN) has received immense attention in gas adsorption applications due to its large surface area. The adsorption of toxic ammonia and nitrogen halides gaseous molecules on graphyne has been theoretically studied at ωB97XD/6-31 + G(d, p) level of DFT. The counterpoise corrected interaction energies of NH3, NF3, NCl3, and NBr3 molecules with GYN are - 4.73, - 2.27, - 5.22, and - 7.19 kcal mol-1, respectively. Symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT0) and noncovalent interaction index (NCI) reveal that the noncovalent interaction between analytes and GYN is dominated by dispersion forces. The significant change in electronic behavior, i.e., energies of HOMO and LUMO orbitals and NBO charge transfer correspond to the pronounced sensitivity of GYN towards considered analytes, especially NBr3. Finally, TD-DFT calculation reveals a decrease in electronic transition energies and shifting of adsorption to a longer wavelength. The recovery time for NX3@GYN is observed in nanoseconds, which is many orders of magnitude smaller than the reported systems. The recovery time is further decreased with increasing temperature, indicating that the GYN benefits from a short recovery time as a chemical sensor.

Abstract
Ethyl butyrate (EB) was identified in recent research as a prominent biomarker of COVID-19, as concentrations of EB were higher in exhaled breath of COVID-19 patients. Electronic sensitivities of pristine, Al- and Si-doped BC3 nanosheets to the EB molecule were investigated in this study using density functional theory. It is found that the pure BC3 was ineffective in sensing EB due to low adsorption energy and sensitivity. Aluminum- and silicon-doped BC3 nanosheets were effective in forming a strong interaction with EB and were also sensitive. Our calculations show that the band gaps of the Al-doped and Si-doped BC3 sheets were significantly decreased upon EB adsorption, which increased the electrical conductance of the sheets and the sensitivity. However, Si-doped BC3 had a recovery time of almost 22 hours, making it less potent than Al-doped BC3, which had a recovery time of just 7.7 minutes. The shorter recovery time of the Al-doped BC3 sheet is due to its moderate adsorption energy of 25.8 kcal mol-1. These results can help facilitate the development of an EB biosensor for COVID-19 testing and other similar applications.

The supramolecularly complexes of calix[4]arene derivatives toward favipiravir antiviral drug (used to treatment of COVID-19): a DFT study on the geometry optimization, electronic structure and infrared spectroscopy of adsorption and sensing. Abstract
While the world is in search of a vaccine that can cure COVID-19 disease, favipiravir is the most commonly used antiviral drug in the treatment of patients during the pandemic process. In this study, we investigated the host-guest interaction between the popular supramolecule calix[4]arene derivatives and the favipiravir drug by using the DFT (Density Functional Theory) method. The B3LYP hybrid method and 6-31G (d,p) basis set were utilized to determine the optimized structures of the host and guest molecules and their complexes. The negative adsorption energy (∆E) and adsorption enthalpy (∆H) calculated for the complexes formed between calix[4]arene compounds and favipiravir drug molecule mentioned that adsorption of favipiravir molecule was an exothermic process on calix[4]arene structures. On the other hand, among the calixarene derivatives in the study, Gibbs free energy change (∆G) value for the adsorption was only negative on calix[4]arene4 molecule. The infrared spectroscopy (IR) calculations were performed by examining the C=O, O-H and NH2 vibrational frequencies to see the adsorption behavior in the favipiravir-calix[4]arene complex. After adsorption of the favipiravir molecule, HOMO-LUMO gap values decreased significantly for the structures and therefore electrical conductivity increased proportionally. In addition, sensor response factors, Fermi energy levels and workfunction changes of calix[4]arene derivatives were calculated and examined. Charge transfer between the four calix[4]arene compounds and the favipiravir molecule has occurred after adsorption. This attributes that calix[4]arene derivatives can be used as a well-suited favipiravir sensor (electronic and workfunction) and adsorbent at room temperature. Based on the calculations made to see the solvent effect on the adsorption of favipiravir it was determined that it did not affect the interaction between the drug molecule and the calix[4]arene compound too much and the adsorption energy turned into a slightly less negative value.
