Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to explore the risk factors for chronic cough in children and provide a reference for prevention and healthcare measures. METHODS PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, and EMBASE were searched for observational studies published up to April 2024. Outcome included risk factors associated with chronic cough in children. Two investigators independently searched and screened the literature, evaluated the qualities and extracted baseline datas. Results were analyzed using random-effects models with odds ratios and their 95 % confidence intervals to address heterogeneity. Subgroup analyses, sensitivity analyses and assessment of publication bias were performed. Stata17 and GRADEwas used for the meta-analysis. RESULTS 18 studies including 97,462 children were reviewed. Asthma(OR = 4.06, 95%CI: 2.37-6.96, P<0.01), NO2(OR = 1.19, 95%CI: 1.01-1.39, P = 0.031), Home remodeling history (OR = 1.82,95 % CI: 1.61-2.05, P<0.01), Environment Tobacco Smoke(OR = 1.41, 95 % CI: 1.15-1.73, P = 0.001), Pet exposure (OR = 1.56, 95%CI: 1.25-1.95, P<0.01), Mould (OR = 1.64,95%CI: 1.45-1.85, P<0.01), Age<1 year(OR = 3.19, 95 % CI: 1.8-5.63, P<0.01) were reported as risk factors for chronic cough in children, these results were discussed qualitatively in the study. CONCLUSION Asthma, NO2, Home remodeling history, Environment Tobacco Smoke(ETS), Pet exposure, Mould, and Age<1 year are risk factors for chronic coughing in children. Due to the few studies and insufficient evidence, other potential risk factors need to be robustly confirmed by subsequent large-sample and multicenter trials.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Flavonoids are a class of secondary plant metabolites that have been shown to have multiple health benefits, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. This study was to explore the association between dietary flavonoid consumption and the prevalence of chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) in adults. METHODS AND RESULTS The six main types of flavonoids, including isoflavones, anthocyanidins, flavan-3-ols, flavanones, flavones, and flavonols, were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2007-2010 and 2017-2018 by the two 24-h recall interviews. The prevalence of CRDs, including asthma, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis, was determined through a self-administered questionnaire. The analysis included 15,753 participants aged 18 years or older who had completed a diet history interview. After adjustment for potential confounders, the inverse link was found with total flavonoids, anthocyanidins, flavanones, and flavones, with an OR (95%CI) of 0.86 (0.75-0.98), 0.84 (0.72-0.97), 0.80(0.69-0.92), and 0.85(0.73-0.98) for the highest group compared to the lowest group. WQS regression revealed that the mixture of flavonoids was negatively linked with the prevalence of CRDs (OR = 0.88 [0.82-0.95], P < 0.01), and the largest effect was mainly from flavanones (weight = 0.41). In addition, we found that flavonoid intake was negatively linked with inflammatory markers, and systemic inflammation significantly mediated the associations of flavonoids with CRDs, with a mediation rate of 12.64% for CRP (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION Higher flavonoid intake was related with a lower prevalence of CRDs in adults, and this relationship may be mediated through systemic inflammation.

Abstract
Objective To perform a meta-analyses to understand the current status of and risk factors for depression in older adults with hypertension. Methods Eight electronic databases and two clinical trial registries were searched to identify studies examining the incidence of and risk factors for depression among older adults with hypertension. The databases were searched from inception to June 2023. The included studies were evaluated using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale and the evaluation tool recommended by the Agency for Health care Research and Quality. Results A total of 18 studies with 29,694 patients were included. Meta-analysis results showed that the prevalence of depression in older adults with hypertension was 29%. The risk factors for depression among this population included sex [OR value 95% confidence interval 2.24 (1.32, 3.82)], education level [OR 95% CI 1.79 (1.02, 3.14)], residence [OR 95% CI 1.37 (1.24, 1.52)], comorbidities [OR 95% CI 1.79 (1.69, 1.90)], hypertension classification [OR 95% CI 2.81 (1.79, 4.42)], marital status [OR 95% CI 1.50 (1.33, 1.69)], sleep status [OR 95% CI 2.86 (2.21, 3.69)], activity limitation [OR 95% CI 3.42 (2.84, 4.13)], drinking [OR 95% CI 2.25 (1.58, 3.19)], social support [OR 95% CI 3.26 (2.42, 4.41)], living alone [OR 95% CI 1.79 (1.57, 2.04)], stressful events [OR 95% CI 1.62 (1.39, 1.90)], and course of diseases [OR 95% CI 3.23 (2.10, 4.97)]. Conclusion The incidence of depression in older adults with hypertension is high, and there are many risk factors. Clinical health care professionals should intervene early to target the above risk factors to reduce the incidence of depression in older adults with hypertension worldwide. Abstract
Objective To systematically evaluate the risk factors for perimenopausal depression in Chinese women and to provide a basis for screening perimenopausal women at high-risk for depression. Methods A computer search of seven databases, including SinoMed, PubMed, Web of Science, and so on, and two clinical trial registries on the risk factors for depression in Chinese women during perimenopause was conducted for meta-analysis. The search time limit was from the establishment of the database to December 2022. The included case-control and cross-sectional studies were evaluated using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale (NOS) and criteria developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Results A total of 15 papers with 12,168 patients and 18 risk factors were included. Meta-analysis results showed that the risk factors for depression in perimenopausal women were relationship quality [OR = 1.23, 95% confidence intervals (1.03, 1.46)], marital status [OR = 2.49, 95% CI (1.77, 3.50)], family income [OR = 1.48 95% CI (1.10, 2.00)], comorbid chronic diseases [OR = 2.39, 95% CI (1.93, 2.95)], exercise status [OR = 1.63, 95% CI (1.26, 2.11)], perimenopausal syndrome [OR = 2.36, 95% CI (2.11, 2.63)], age [OR = 1.04, 95% CI (1.01, 1.07)], and stressful events [OR = 12.14, 95% CI (6.48, 22.72)], and social support was a protective factor [OR = 0.76, 95% CI (0.63, 0.91), p < 0.05]. Conclusion Based on the exploration of risk factors for perimenopausal depression in Chinese women, we aimed to provide guidance for the screening of risk factors for depression in perimenopausal women and thereby reduce the incidence of depression.
