Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to assess the cultural adaptation and validation in Italian of the Seated Postural Control Measure for Adults 2.0 (SPCMA 2.0). METHODS The original scale was translated and culturally adapted from French to Italian using the "Translation and Cultural Adaptation of Patient Reported Outcomes Measures-Principles of Good Practice" guidelines. Its internal consistency and test-retest reliability were examined. Its concurrent validity was evaluated using Pearson correlation coefficients with the Italian version of the Wheelchair use Confidence Scale and Wheelchair Skills Test 4.2. RESULTS Fifty-nine people were evaluated and re-evaluated after 48 h. Most of the items and subscale totals were stable in the 2 evaluations as they reported an intraclass correlation coefficient value of >0.77. The test-retest analysis of the dynamic evaluation was performed on the same patients 48 h apart. The analysis for construct validity showed statistically significant correlations with Wheelchair use Confidence Scale and Wheelchair Skills Test 4.2. CONCLUSIONS Seated Postural Control Measure for Adults 2.0 is one of the few tools that allow researchers to perform a quantitative and standardized posture assessment in a cost-effective and time-saving way. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that it is an easy-to-administer scale and requires readily available tools. The limitations of this study highlighted above and the need to use quantitative and qualitative tools in clinical practice imply the need to conduct future studies.

Abstract
PURPOSE QUEST2.0 is a practical tool specifically applied to assessing the satisfaction for awide array of assistive technology in a standard manner. Therefore, this study set to translate and evaluate the validity and reliability of the Iranian version of the QUEST2.0in Persian-speaking users of manual and electronic wheelchairs in Iran. METHODS The present study recruited 130 users of manual and electric wheelchairs. Psychometric properties, including; content validity and construct validity and internal consistency and test-retest reliability, were testified. RESULTS The content validity index of the questionnaire was 92%. The internal consistency was determined to be 0.89,0.88 and 0.74, respectively, for the whole questionnaire and dimensions of the device, and services. The test-retest reliability was 0.85, 0.80, and 0.94, respectively, for the whole questionnaire and dimensions of the device and services. Factor analysis confirmed the two-factor structure of the questionnaire. In the two-factor model, 57.75% of the total variance was explained by these two factors, of which 45.8% pertained to the first factor (device) and 11.95% to the second factor (service). CONCLUSIONS The results showed that QUEST2.0 had both valid and reliable for measuring satisfaction with assistive technology among wheelchair users. The assessment will also help facilitate the quality improvement processes in using assistive technology devices.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of this study is to update a systematic review of instruments for evaluating the executive functions (EFs) in a pediatric population to assess their measurement properties. AREA COVERED Studies describing evaluation tools of EFs were systematically searched on four electronic databases: PubMed, EBSCO, Scopus, and Web of Science. To be included studies had to be on a population aged 0 to 18 were included. The individuals were either healthy or presented a neurodevelopment disorder. Risk of Bias was evaluated through the Consensus-based Standards to select the health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN). EXPERT OPINION The search was conducted on April 2023. Eighty-four papers met the inclusion criteria and were included in the study; the studies refer to 72 different evaluation tools of EFs. Most of the studies analyzed through a methodological quality analysis received an 'adequate' score. The instrument most mentioned was the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-2 (BRIEF2) in seven articles.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The World Health Organization claimed that measuring outcomes is necessary to understand the benefits of assistive technology (AT) and create evidence-based policies and systems to ensure universal access to it. In clinical practice, there is an increasing need for standardized methods to track AT interventions using outcome assessments. OBJECTIVE This review provides an overview of the available outcome measures that can be used at the follow-up stage of any AT intervention and integrated into daily clinical or service practice. METHODS We systematically searched for original manuscripts regarding available and used AT outcome measures by searching for titles and abstracts in the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases up to March 2023. RESULTS We analyzed 955 articles, of which 50 (5.2%) were included in the review. Within these, 53 instruments have been mentioned and used to provide an AT outcome assessment. The most widely used tool is the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology, followed by the Psychosocial Impact of Assistive Technology Scale. Moreover, the identified measures addressed 8 AT outcome domains: functional efficacy, satisfaction, psychosocial impact, caregiver burden, quality of life, participation, confidence, and usability. The AT category Assistive products for activities and participation relating to personal mobility and transportation was the most involved in the reviewed articles. CONCLUSIONS Among the 53 cited instruments, only 17 (32%) scales were designed to evaluate specifically assistive devices. Moreover, 64% (34/53) of the instruments were only mentioned once to denote poor uniformity and concordance in the instruments to be used, limiting the possibility of comparing the results of studies. This work could represent a good guide for promoting the use of validated AT outcome measures in clinical practice that can be helpful to AT assessment teams in their everyday activities and the improvement of clinical practice.

Abstract
PURPOSE Manual wheelchair (MWC) confidence is a predictor of adult life-space mobility and social participation. To date, scientific literature specific to pediatric MWC confidence is scarce which prevents in-depth understanding. The objective of this study was to explore the perceptions of pediatric MWC users (PMWU), parents, and occupational therapists regarding pediatric MWC confidence. METHODS Five focus groups were conducted with PMWUs (n = 12) and occupational therapists (n = 9), and semi-structured interviews were conducted with parents of PMWUs (n = 2). Inductive thematic analysis was performed following verbatim transcription of audio recorded material. RESULTS Three overarching themes were identified across PMWUs, parents, and occupational therapists: (1) "MWC confidence is not a clinical priority" depicted the construct's varying level of clinical priority and perceived abstractness; (2) "MWC confidence is both a child and parent consideration" revealed nuances between the PMWU's MWC confidence and the parents' perception of the PMWU's MWC confidence; and (3) "Opportunities to develop MWC confidence are context-specific" contrasted afforded and unafforded opportunities to experience independent MWC mobility. CONCLUSIONS Pediatric MWC confidence is an important aspect of wheelchair use that is shaped by a multitude of factors in PMWU's lives. This new area of pediatric study provides support for the need to measure this important construct.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThis study is the first to explore children's, parents', and occupational therapists' perceptions of pediatric MWC confidence.Pediatric MWC confidence impacts MWC use in a multifaceted fashion.Future studies should consider the development and validation of a self-report measure to assess pediatric MWC confidence.

Abstract
PURPOSE The objectives were: (1) to translate and adapt the International Society of Wheelchair Professional (ISWP) basic Wheelchair Service Provision Test (bWSPT) into French-Canadian and (2) to conduct a preliminary evaluation of the French-Canadian version of the ISWP bWSPT internal consistency and relations with other variables among French-Canadian occupational therapy students. METHODS For Phase 1, based on the International Test Commission Guidelines for Translating and Adapting Tests, a forward translation and adaptation from English to French-Canadian was conducted by a translation team. For Phase 2, the validity evidence of the French-Canadian bWSPT was evaluated through internal consistency and comparison of bWSPT scores and final grades of a wheelchair-specific course with a sample of occupational therapy students (positive, moderate correlation hypothesized). Internal consistency was measured with Cronbach's α. The correlation was calculated using the Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient. RESULTS For phase 1, 61 of 167 items of the forward adaptation were revised and modified. All revisions were a consensus by the translation team. For phase 2, we found a Cronbach's α of 0.50 and a correlation of ⍴ = 0.27 (p = 0.43) between the bWSPT French-Canadian version and the wheelchair-specific course final grade. The low variability of the data may explain the lower-than-expected correlation. Other possible data-driven reasons have been explored using post-hoc analysis. CONCLUSION The ISWP bWSPT, French-Canadian version, is not internally consistent and demonstrates a non-statistically significant, positive, weak correlation with the final grade of a wheelchair service provision-specific course among a cohort of 35 occupational therapy students.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONThe lack of adequately educated wheelchair service providers is a contributing factor to inappropriate wheelchair provision worldwide.The ISWP Wheelchair Service Provision Basic Test (ISWP bWSPT) has been created to evaluate competency among wheelchair service providers and provides a standardized test recognized internationally.A French-Canadian version of the ISWP bWSPT allows competency testing of French-speaking wheelchair service providers across Canada.This study shows that the French-Canadian version of the test is not internally consistent and has a low correlation with a wheelchair provision-specific course among a cohort of 35 occupational therapy students at a French-Canadian university suggesting further refinement is required to improve its measurement properties in this population of test-takers.

Abstract
Background Variable, and typically inadequate, delivery of skills training following manual wheelchair (MWC) provision has a detrimental impact on user mobility and participation. Traditional in-person delivery of training by rehabilitation therapists has diminished due to cost, travel time, and most recently social distancing restrictions due to COVID-19. Effective alternative training approaches include eHealth home training applications and interactive peer-led training using experienced and proficient MWC users. An innovative TEAM Wheels program integrates app-based self-training and teleconference peer-led training using a computer tablet platform. Objective This protocol outlines implementation and evaluation of the TEAM Wheels training program in a randomized control trial using a wait-list control group. Setting The study will be implemented in a community setting in three Canadian cities. Participants Individuals ≥ 18 years of age within one year of transitioning to use of a MWC. Intervention Using a computer tablet, participants engage in three peer-led teleconference training sessions and 75–150 minutes of weekly practice using a video-based training application over 4 weeks. Peer trainers individualize the participants’ training plans and monitor their tablet-based training activity online. Control group participants also receive the intervention following a 1-month wait-list period and data collection. Measurements Outcomes assessing participation; skill capacity and performance; self-efficacy; mobility; and quality of life will be measured at baseline and post-treatment, and at 6-month follow-up for the treatment group. Impact statement We anticipate that TEAM Wheels will be successfully carried out at all sites and participants will demonstrate statistically significant improvement in the outcome measures compared with the control group.

Abstract
PURPOSE Physical activity is essential for health and well-being. People with physical disability often experience barriers in performing sports due to the lack of appropriate assistive technologies. The present research aimed to investigate athletes with disability satisfaction when using sports wheelchairs and to explore clinometric properties of the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology (QUEST). MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred and twenty-eight athletes were involved in the present study. Data on sport discipline and wheelchair provision were collected with qualitative approach. Internal consistency and reliability of QUEST were respectively analyzed with Cronbach's Alpha and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient. Validity was investigated with the correlation of the Wheelchair Use Confidence Scale for Manual users. RESULTS Results revealed good internal consistency (.858) and moderate inter-rater reliability for service subscale (.664) and for the total score (.675), while for device subscale (.802) reliability was high. Validity revealed moderate correlation (.300) with a p < 0.05. Qualitative analysis highlighted economic barriers as primary social determinant who affect participation in sport activities. CONCLUSIONS The present study confirms preliminary evidence of the QUEST for athletes with disability. The research group also recommends an international effort to promote a comprehensive evaluation of sports wheelchair involving rehabilitation professionals, sport technicians and people with disability.Implications for rehabilitationEconomic factors linked to the purchase of a wheelchair seem being the main barrier for practising sportThe Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology is a useful tool to measure athletes' satisfaction using a wheelchairRehabilitation professionals and sport technicians should collaborate together with people with disability in determining how choose appropriate sport wheelchairs.

Abstract
Object: This article describes the translation and cultural adaptation of the Multi-disciplinary Rehabilitation Outcome Checklist Scale in Italian and reports the procedures to test their validity and reliability. Methods: The forward and backward translation was conducted by specialized and certified translators, independently from each other. The scale was then reviewed by a group of 20 experts. The process of cultural adaptation and validation took place on a cohort of patients who performed a joint replacement of hip and/or knee surgery in two hospitals of Rome. Results: The culturally adapted scale was administered to 114 patients. It results that the interoperator reliability is equal to intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) = 0.977 for hip and ICC = 0.97 for knee. The construct validity and the responsiveness are statistically significant. Conclusion: It is a scale capable of assessing the patient in a comprehensive and multidisciplinary manner at the time of hospital discharge, useful for dismissing the patient in the most appropriate timing and with the best clinical and functional conditions.

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the literature reports of qualitative and quantitative results of physical therapy treatments in the alternative aquatic setting for individuals affected by strokes. Method: PRISMA guidelines were used to carry out the systematic review and meta-analysis. Three bibliographic databases were searched: MEDLINE, PEDro, and the Cochrane Library. Papers included in the study were required to: (a) have a randomized controlled trial (RCT) design of research; and (b) be published in English; (c) be published during the last 10 years (2008-2018). Only randomized controlled trials were employed in the study. The quality of the clinical trials to be included was evaluated according to the Jadad scale. The internal validity was assessed according to the PEDro scale. Results: Eleven RCTs were initially identified in the systematic review. Eight of these were involved in the meta-analysis comparing outcomes and follow-up. Eight studies received a Jadad score of three, indicating a high level of quality. The remaining three studies achieved a lower score which indicated lower qualitative level. Nearly all of the results of the quantitative analysis were statistically significant (P < 0,05) and most of them favored of the experimental group subject to aquatic treatment. Conclusion: Aquatic physical therapy may be a valid means for the rehabilitation of people affected by stroke. The integration of this methodological approach with conventional physical therapy should be considered. However, more studies; a larger number of participants; and varying lengths of follow-up times are necessary.

Abstract
The aims of this study were to translate and culturally adapt the Volitional Questionnaire (VQ) into Italian and to evaluate its psychometric properties in an Italian population of patients with psychiatric disorders. The translation process from English into Italian was carried out in agreement with the authors of the original scale. The study was carried out in three psychiatric facilities, with 33 patients with psychiatric diagnoses, who were older than 18 years, and two raters (6 total) for each facility in Rome, Italy. The psychometric properties were assessed via its internal consistency, test-retest and inter-rater reliability and construct validity through comparisons with the Barthel Index, Short Form-12, Beck Depression Inventory-II and Camberwell Assessment of Need (CAN). Results showed internal consistency, using Cronbach's alpha, was significant at 0.92. In the test-retest reliability evaluation, the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.97 and the interclass correlation coefficient was 0.99. The Spearman correlation showed significant results in the comparison with the CAN (r = -0.45, p < 0.05). These results suggest that the IT-VQ may be a valid, standardized and reliable evaluation tool that can be used to detect volitional performance improvements in a population of Italian psychiatric patients.

Abstract
Objectives: To assess measurement properties of the Italian version of the Level of Sitting Scale when classifying sitting ability of children with cerebral palsy. Design: Methodological study. Setting: Children’s hospital (inpatients and outpatients). Subjects: Children 18 years of age or younger with cerebral palsy. Methods: The original English version of the Level of Sitting Scale was translated and culturally adapted for the Italian culture following international guidelines. Examination of reliability and validity of the Italian Level of Sitting Scale was then undertaken. Inter-rater and one-week test–retest reliability were estimated using both intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) with 95% confidence intervals and Bland–Altman plots. Construct validity of the Italian Level of Sitting was evaluated using three approaches examining Pearson’s correlation coefficient ( r) and Mann–Whitney U test ( P-value < 0.05). Main measures: Italian Level of Sitting Scale and Gross Motor Function Classification System. Results: The Italian Level of Sitting Scale was administered to 109 subjects. Inter-rater reliability and one-week test–retest showed excellent value with ICCs of 0.99 for both. (1) The Pearson correlation coefficient comparing Italian Level of Sitting Scale with Gross Motor Function Classification System was −0.91 and (2) correlation with total amount of adaptive seating components was −0.90. Differences in sitting abilities and use/non-use of wheelchair were found. All reported a statistical significance of P < 0.01. Conclusion: Our findings provide evidence of reliability and validity when using the Italian Level of Sitting Scale to classify seated postural abilities in a sample of Italian children with cerebral palsy.

Abstract
This study explores validity, reliability, and factor analysis of the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology (IT-QUEST) for users of assistive technology devices in an Italian population. It was administered to 75 people to determine which of the 24 original items were relevant to the Italian context using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFAs and CFAs) were conducted with internal consistency and test-retest reproducibility also evaluated. The EFA and CFA showed that the 24-item survey may have limited relevance to the Italian context. We individuated 12 significative items, divided into two subscales, as well as the original validation. The test-retest showed high values of the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) (0.7-0.9), with a 0.812 ICC for the total scale providing support and evidence for Italian professionals to evaluate user satisfaction with assistive technology devices. This research also lays the foundation for developing a validation study of the IT-QUEST 2.0 that is relevant to the Italian culture. Further research may investigate psychometric properties involving more participants and different users of assistive technology devices.

Abstract
Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) to the Italian culture was performed by Oxford University Innovation in 2008, but this version has never been validated. Therefore, we performed the process of validation of the Italian version of the PDQ-39 (PDQ-39-IT) following the "Consensus-Based Standards for the Selection of Health Status Measurement Instruments" checklist. The translated PDQ-39-IT was tested with 104 patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD) who were recruited between June and October 2017. The mean age of the participants was 65.7 ± 10.2 years, and the mean duration of symptoms was 7.4 ± 5.3 years. The internal consistency of the PDQ-39-IT was assessed by Cronbach's alpha and ranged from 0.69 to 0.92. In an assessment of test-retest reliability in 35 of the 104 patients, the infraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) ranged from 0.85 to 0.96 for the various subitems of the PDQ-39-IT (all p < 0.01). Spearman's rank correlation coefficient for the validity of the PDQ-39-IT and the Italian version of the 36-Item Short Form (SF-36) was - 0.50 (p < 0.01). The results show that the PDQ-39-IT is a reliable and valid tool to assess the impact of PD on functioning and well-being. Thus, the PDQ-39-IT can be used in clinical and research practice to assess this construct and to evaluate the overall effect of different treatments in Italian PD patients.

Abstract
Cognitive impairment is highly prevalent in patients with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Many interventions have been developed to treat cognitive deficit, since it has a strong impact on functional outcome; however, there are no integrated interventions targeting multiple neuro- and social-cognitive domains with a particular focus on the generalization of the effects of therapy on the functional outcome. Recently, a group of experts has developed a cognitive remediation group therapy approach called Integrated Neurocognitive Therapy (INT), which includes exercises to improve the MATRICS (Measurement and Treatment Research to Improve Cognition in Schizophrenia) neuro- and social-cognitive domains. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy of this approach. We conducted a search of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and PsycINFO to select primary studies evaluating INT in schizophrenic and schizoaffective patients. The primary outcomes of the meta-analysis included negative and positive symptoms and global functioning. Two randomized controlled trials met inclusion criteria. A total of 217 participants were included. Based on the results from the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), a significant pooled effect size was observed for negative symptoms, which demonstrated not only an improvement in the patients treated immediately after therapy but also a permanence of positive results at a 9-12-month follow-up. On the other hand, no significant effect size was observed for positive symptoms. In addition, a significant pooled effect size was found for Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF), which shows how INT's integrated approach has lasting positive implications on patients' functional outcome. We concluded that INT might be an effective treatment for negative symptoms and global functioning in patients with schizophrenia, compared to treatment as usual (TAU).
