Quantum electrodynamical approach to multiphoton ionisation in the high-intensity H field

Study on spin angular momentum balance in harmonics generated from counter-rotating two-color laser fields

High-order harmonics generated from Xe driven by counter-rotating two-color driving fields are studied in the frame of a quantum-field scattering theory, and the spin angular momentum transfer is discussed. The driving field is composed by a circularly polarized (CP) mode and an elliptically polarized (EP) mode. We treat the EP mode as a compostition of counter-rotating CP fields of unequal intensity. We use a pair of phased generalized Bessel functions to describe the harmonic generation amplitude, and the conservation of the spin angular momentum during harmonic generation in the two-color field is derived in a solid base and in a straightforward way. The experimentally observed V-type and Λ-type distributions of the harmonic spectra with ellipticity are recovered theoretically. Balance pattern of the spin angular momentum is disclosed substantially.

Shortcut to study angular momentum transfer of harmonic generation in intense laser fields

High-order harmonics generated from atoms driven by counter-rotating two-color circularly (CRTC) polarized laser fields are studied in the frame of a quantum-field scattering theory. We use a pair of generalized phased Bessel (GPB) functions to describe the harmonic generation amplitude. The use of GPB functions allows us to define the phase of a harmonic channel accurately, by which we obtain the spin angular momentum conservation relation in a straightforward way. The known selection rule of harmonic order in the CRTC field is obtained concisely. Main features of the harmonic spectra are recovered. Our treatment provides a shortcut to study the angular momentum transfer in intense laser fields.

Influence of polarization directions of the IR+XUV two-color laser fields on angle-resolved photoelectron energy spectrum

By employing the frequency-domain theory, we investigate the influence of polarization directions on angle-resolved photoelectron energy spectrum in the above-threshold ionization (ATI) process of atoms exposed to the IR+XUV two-color laser fields, which shows the multiplateau structures. When the ionized electron is emitted along the IR laser's polarization direction, the width of each plateau keeps a certain energy range, and the jet structures and main lobes are determined by both the emission angle relative to the polarization direction of the XUV laser field and the number of the XUV photons absorbed by the electron. While when the ionized electron is emitted along the XUV laser's polarization direction, the width of each plateau depends on the polarization direction of the IR laser field, and the angular distribution of the ionized electron exhibits the isotropic characteristics. These results show that the ATI spectrum may be effectively controlled by changing the angle between the two laser fields' polarization directions.

Thomson scattering from ultrashort and ultraintense laser pulses

The Thomson scattering in an ultraintense ( approximately 10(18) W cm(-2)) and ultrashort (20 fs) laser field is calculated that demonstrates different characteristics from those of the low-intensity field case. The electron trajectory no longer conforms to a figure-eight pattern, and the spectra demonstrate complex shifting and broadening to suggest that Thomson scattering can be used for characterizing pulsed lasers. The initial phase at the electron entrance of the field can critically affect the Thomson scattering, but its effect is weighted by the intensity profile of the field. As a result, the fourfold symmetry of the radiation pattern breaks down when the electron enters the field closer to the pulse peak. The relationship between the Thomson scattering and Compton scattering in the high field is analyzed.
