Abstract
The study presents a first electrochemical method for the determination of the immunomodulator drug Baricitinib (BARI), crucial in managing COVID-19 patients requiring oxygen support. A unique electrode was developed by modifying graphite carbon nickel nanoparticles (NiNPs) with functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (f.MWCNTs), resulting in nanohybrids tailored for highly sensitive BARI detection. Comparative analysis revealed the superior electrocatalytic performance of the nanohybrid-modified electrode over unmodified counterparts and other modifications, attributed to synergistic interactions between f.MWCNTs and nickel nanoparticles. Under optimized conditions, the sensors exhibited linear detection within a concentration range from 4.00 × 10-8 to 5.56 × 10-5 M, with a remarkably low detection limit of 9.65 × 10-9 M. Notably, the modified electrode displayed minimal interference from common substances and demonstrated high precision in detecting BARI in plasma and medicinal formulations, underscoring its clinical relevance and potential impact on COVID-19 treatment strategies.

Abstract
Partially biodegradable polymer nanocomposites Poly(3-Hydroxybutyrate) (PHB)/MultiwalledCarbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs)/Poly(Methyl Methacrylate) (PMMA)and non-biodegradable nanocomposites (MWCNTs/PMMA) were synthesized, and their thermal, electrical, and ammonia-sensing properties were compared. MWCNTs were chemically modified to ensure effective dispersion in the polymeric matrix. Pristine MWCNTs (p-MWCNTs) were functionalized with –COOH (a-MWCNTs) and amine groups (f-MWCNTs). Then, PHB grafted multiwalled carbon nanotubes (g-MWNTs) were prepared by a ‘grafting to’ technique. The p-MWCNTs, a-MWCNTs, f-MWCNTs, and g-MWCNTs were incorporated into the PMMA matrix and PMMA/PHB blend system by solution mixing. The PHB/f-MWCNTs/PMMA blend system showed good thermal properties among all synthesized nanocomposites. Results from TGA and dTGA analysis for PHB/f-MWCNTs/PMMA showed delay in T5 (about 127 °C), T50 (up to 126 °C), and Tmax (up to 65 °C) as compared to neat PMMA. Higher values of frequency capacitance were observed in nanocomposites containing f-MWCNTs and g-MWCNTs as compared to nanocomposites containing p-MWCNTs and a-MWCNTs. This may be attributed to their excellent interaction and good dispersion in the polymeric blend. Analysis of ammonia gas-sensing data showed that PHB/g-MWCNTs/PMMA nanocomposites exhibited good sensitivity (≈100%) and excellent repeatability with a constant response. The calculated limit of detection (LOD) is 0.129 ppm for PHB/g-MWCNTs/PMMA, while that of all other nanocomposites is above 40 ppm.

Abstract
Magnesium oxide coated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MgO@MWNT) were fabricated and dispersed into epoxy matrix. The microstructures of MgO@MWNT and epoxy/MgO@MWNT nanocomposites were characterized by TEM and SEM. Electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity of epoxy nanocomposites were investigated with high resistance meter and thermal conductivity meter, respectively. MgO@MWNT has core-shell structure with MgO as shell and nanotube as core, and the thickness of MgO shell is ca. 15 nm. MgO@MWNT has been dispersed well in the epoxy matrix. MgO@MWNT loaded epoxy nanocomposites still retain electrical insulation inspite of the filler content increase. However, thermal conductivity of epoxy was increased with the MgO@MWNT content increasing. When MgO@MWNT content reached 2.0 wt.%, thermal conductivity was increased by 89% compared to neat epoxy, higher than that of unmodified MWNT nanocomposites with the same loading content.

Abstract
The dawn of the 21st century has brought with it an increasing interest in emulating the adaptive finesse of natural systems by designing materials with on-demand, tunable properties. The creation of such responsive systems could be expected, based on historical precedent, to lead to completely new engineering design paradigms. Using a bioinspired approach of coupling multiple equilibria that operate on different length scales, a material whose bulk mechanical properties can be manipulated by electrical input has been developed. The new macroscale electroplastic elastomer hydrogels can be reversibly cycled through soft and hard states while maintaining a three-dimensional shape by sequential application of oxidative and reductive potentials. This input changes the cross-linking capacity of iron ions within the gel matrix, between a poorly coordinating +2 and a more strongly binding +3 oxidation state. Inclusion of carbon nanotubes in the hydrogel preparation increases conductivity and decreases transition time.

Abstract
We have developed a facile and reproducible method for surfactant-controlled track-etching and chemical functionalization of single asymmetric nanochannels in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) membranes. Carboxyl groups present on the channel surface were converted into pentafluorophenyl esters using EDC/PFP (N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N'-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride/pentafluorophenol) coupling chemistry. The resulting amine-reactive esters were further covalently coupled with ethylenediamine or propylamine in order to manipulate the charge polarity and hydrophilicity of the nanochannels, respectively. Characterization of the modified channels was done by measuring their current-voltage (I-V) curves as well as their permselectivity before and after the chemical modification. The electrostatic/hydrophobic association of bovine serum albumin on the channel surface was observed through the change in rectification behaviour upon the variation of pH values.
