Abstract
Factor V (FV) Leiden and prothrombin G20210A are the most common hereditary thrombophilias. While their role in venous thromboembolism is well known, there are still uncertainties regarding their relationship with arterial thrombotic events, especially coronary ones. Our research, based on an in-depth analysis of the available literature, provides up-to-date information on the relationship between FV Leiden and prothrombin G20210A and acute myocardial infarction. FV Leiden and prothrombin G20210A screening should be implemented only in select cases, such as acute coronary syndrome in young individuals and/or in the absence of traditional cardiovascular risk factors and/or in the absence of significant coronary artery stenosis at angiography. Their identification should be followed by the implementation of optimal control of modifiable traditional cardiovascular risk factors to reduce the risk of recurrent events and genotyping and genetic counseling of all family members of affected cases for proper prophylaxis. An extended dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) may be considered, given the lower risk of bleeding under DAPT conferred by FV Leiden.

Abstract
Ischemic strokes are one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The aim of this meta-analysis is to elaborate on the role of inherited predisposition to thrombophilia in the etiology of ischemic strokes in young adults. The keywords factor V Leiden (FVL), factor II, prothrombin (PT), protein C (PC), protein S (PS), antithrombin (AT), ischemic stroke, and young were used to search different databases. We selected studies with participants who were between 18 and 65 years. A total of 104 studies were eligible for inclusion in the meta-analysis. All the studied genetic markers were risk factors for ischemic stroke according to our results (FVL OR = 1.74; PT OR = 1.95; PC OR = 10.20; PS OR = 1.74; AT OR = 3.47; p < 0.05). There was moderate heterogeneity for most of the results, and subgroup analyses were conducted by dividing the studies according to the geographic location, gender ratio, and selection criteria of the performed study. There were no significant differences between the groups, but different geographic location was a probable source of heterogeneity. All of the studied markers—FVL, prothrombin, PC, PS, and AT—were significantly associated with increased risk of ischemic stroke in young adults and, if tested, could improve the quality of care.

Abstract
Background and Objective Thrombophilia is a term used to define the conditions creating a tendency toward thrombosis. Factor V Leiden (FVL) is the most frequently observed genetic risk factor, and its frequency varies among societies and ethnicities. In this study, our aim is to identify the frequency of FVL mutation in patients with thrombosis, the frequency of FVL mutation for each thrombosis disease, whether there is any difference in the geographical distribution of FVL mutation in the Turkish population, correlation with age and gender, and correlation with arterial and venous thrombosis. Methods This is an observational case–control and retrospective study. Cases with the FVL mutation examination with clinical provisional diagnosis of arterial and/or venous thrombosis delivered and with the thrombosis proven by radiological visualization methods and laboratory examinations have been planned to be considered and assessed as cases with thrombosis. Results A total of 67 patients with thrombosis and 22 patients without thrombosis have been included within the study. Twenty-six of the cases with thrombosis were from the Black Sea region, 21 were from Eastern Anatolia, 12 were from Central Anatolia, 5 were from Marmara, and 3 were from Southeastern Anatolia. Eleven of the cases without thrombosis were from the Black Sea region, 1 was from Eastern Anatolia, 5 were from Central Anatolia, 2 were from Marmara, 1 was from Southeastern Anatolia, and 2 were from the Aegean region. The significance was resulted from the identification of thrombosis prevalence rate as significantly high in the Eastern Anatolian region. Discussion FVL mutation frequency is quite common in our country, and there are significant differences particularly in terms of regional distribution. Furthermore, FVL mutation is solely not the risk factor for thrombosis, and other coexisting genetic and acquired risk factors are substantial causes for the development of thrombosis.

Abstract
Factor V Leiden G1691A (FVL) and Factor II prothrombin G20210A (PGM) mutations are the leading causes of thrombophilia. In this study, we have investigated the prevalence of the FVL G1691A and PGM G20210A single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) among Libyan deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and myocardial infarction (MI) patients. SNP genotyping was performed using high-resolution melt analysis (HRM) and DNA sequencing. Biochemical parameters conducted on 112 males and 93 females showed no significant difference in means between the control group and the deep vein thrombosis and myocardial infarction groups. For Factor V Leiden, 40 samples were genotyped. Of the 40 samples, 6 (15.0%) of them were heterozygous and no one was homozygous. As for Factor II SNP, 59 samples were genotyped and only 2 (3.3%) were heterozygous. All the heterozygous samples showed 100% concordance between the HRM-PCR and DNA sequence analysis. Our study showed, for the first time, that both the FVL and PGM mutations are present among Libyan DVT and MI patients and that the FVL mutation is significantly associated with DVT but not with MI. However, our results do not support the association of PGM G20210A mutation with DVT or MI.

Abstract
The etiology of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is still not elucidated nowadays. Based on the accordance between DVT incidence and the anemophilous pollen concentration in the air, we proposed the hypothesis that allergic reaction induced by anemophilous pollen may cause "idiopathic" DVT, and proinflammatory factors may play an important role in the thrombosis process.
