Abstract
The Chevrel technique is a well-established procedure for open repair of midline incisional hernia. This retrospective single-center case series aims to present the outcome of patients with midline incisional hernia treated with a modified Chevrel technique. The modification itself comprehended the use of a single-layer continuous suture for the inverted anterior rectus abdominis muscle sheet for the creation of the "new linea alba" without overlapping. Between January 2017 and December 2023, 40 patients were operated. The overall postoperative morbidity rate was 65%. Hernia recurrence occurred in three patients (7.5%). When the basic principles of the Chevrel technique are respected and conducted, this leads to satisfactory results. The postoperative outcome of this case series showed rates of complications and recurrences in concordance with the already published literature. Therefore, this technique should always be considered for the open approach for midline incisional hernia repair.

Abstract
Incisional hernia refers to an abdominal wall defect at the site of a previous surgical incision. In this paper, we describe two patients who previously underwent open kidney stone surgery several years ago and had the ipsilateral recurrent stones. They were both managed by a mini percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL) to treat kidney stones. Case 1 was a 50-year-old female with right recurrent staghorn stones after 5 years of open surgery and required two PCNL procedures to achieve stone-free status. Case 2 was a 74-year-old male with significant comorbidities who had a right 27 mm recurrent kidney stone after 10 years of open nephrolithotomy. Both patients experienced no postoperative complications after PCNL. These cases show that in cases of lumbar incisional scar hernias, mini PCNL with ultrasound guidance and proper patient positioning can be an optimal approach for kidney stone treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Umbilical hernias, while frequently asymptomatic, may become acutely symptomatic, strangulated or obstructed, and require emergency treatment. Robust evidence is required for high-quality care in this field. This scoping review aims to elucidate evidence gaps regarding emergency care of umbilical hernias. METHODS EMBASE, MEDLINE and CENTRAL databases were searched using a predefined strategy until November 2023. Primary research studies reporting on any aspect of emergency umbilical hernia care and published in the English language were eligible for inclusion. Studies were excluded where emergency umbilical hernia care was not the primary focus and subsets of relevant data were unable to be extracted. Two independent reviewers screened abstracts and full texts, resolving disagreements by consensus or a third reviewer. Data were charted according to core concepts addressed by each study and a narrative synthesis was performed. RESULTS Searches generated 534 abstracts, from which 32 full texts were assessed and 14 included in the final review. This encompassed 52 042 patients undergoing emergency umbilical hernia care. Most were retrospective cohort designs (11/14), split between single (6/14) and multicentre (8/14) with only one randomized trial. Most multicentre studies were from national databases (7/8). Themes arising included risk assessment (n = 4), timing of surgery (n = 4), investigations (n = 1), repair method (n = 8, four mesh versus suture; four laparoscopic versus open) and operative outcomes (n = 11). The most commonly reported outcomes were mortality (n = 9) and morbidity (n = 7) rates and length of hospital stay (n = 5). No studies included patient-reported outcomes specific to emergency umbilical hernia repair. CONCLUSION This scoping review demonstrates the paucity of high-quality data for this condition. There is a need for randomized trials addressing all aspects of emergency umbilical hernia repair, with patient-reported outcomes.

Abstract
Despite the heavy reliance of surgeons on mesh with which to repair hernias, less attention is paid to the technical specifications of mesh and/or regulatory processes for bringing medical devices to market during surgical training. This article summarizes some of the key controversies and points regarding mesh materials and regulatory processes related to mesh devices.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients often need admission at an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), immediately after complex abdominal wall reconstruction (CAWR). Lack of ICU resources requires adequate patient selection for a planned postoperative ICU admission. Risk stratification tools like Fischer score and Hernia Patient Wound (HPW) classification may improve patient selection. This study evaluates the decision-making process in a multidisciplinary team (MDT) on justified ICU admissions for patients after CAWR. METHODS A pre-Covid-19 pandemic cohort of patients, discussed in a MDT and subsequently underwent CAWR between 2016 and 2019, was analyzed. A justified ICU admission was defined by any intervention within the first 24 h postoperatively, considered not suitable for a nursing ward. The Fischer score predicts postoperative respiratory failure by eight parameters and a high score (> 2) warrants ICU admission. The HPW classification ranks complexity of hernia (size), patient (comorbidities) and wound (infected surgical field) in four stages, with increasing risk for postoperative complications. Stages II-IV point to ICU admission. Accuracy of the MDT decision and (modifications of) risk-stratification tools on justified ICU admissions were analyzed by backward stepwise multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Pre-operatively, the MDT decided a planned ICU admission in 38% of all 232 CAWR patients. Intra-operative events changed the MDT decision in 15% of all CAWR patients. MDT overestimated ICU need in 45% of ICU planned patients and underestimated in 10% of nursing ward planned patients. Ultimately, 42% went to the ICU and 27% of all 232 CAWR patients were justified ICU patients. MDT accuracy was higher than the Fischer score, HPW classification or any modification of these risk stratification tools. CONCLUSION A MDT's decision for a planned ICU admission after complex abdominal wall reconstruction was more accurate than any of the other risk-stratifying tools. Fifteen percent of the patients experienced unexpected operative events that changed the MDT decision. This study demonstrated the added value of a MDT in the care pathway of patients with complex abdominal wall hernias.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Incisional hernia (IH) is an important surgical complication that has several ways of prevention, including modifications in the surgical technique of the initial procedure. Its incidence can reach 69% in high-risk patients and long-term follow-up. Of the risky procedures, open abdominal aortic aneurysmectomy is the one with the highest risk. Ways to reduce this morbid complication were suggested, and prophylactic mesh rises as an important tool to prevent recurrence. METHODS A retrospective cohort study review of medical records of patients undergoing vascular surgery for abdominal aortoiliac aneurysm (AAA) or vascular bypass surgery due to aortoiliac occlusive disease. We identified 193 patients treated between 2010 and 2020. We further performed a one-to-nine matching analysis between the use of prophylactic mesh and control groups, based on estimated propensity scores for each patient. RESULTS Prophylactic mesh group had a 18% lower risk of IH, compared with the control group (relative risk: 0.82; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.74-0.93). The difference in IH rates between the groups compared was 2.6% (95% CI: -19.8 to 25.5). From the perspective of the number needed to treat, it would be necessary to use prophylactic mesh in 39 (95% CI: 35-44) patients to avoid one IH in this population. CONCLUSION Use of prophylactic mesh in the repair of AAA significantly reduces the incidence of IH in nearly one in five cases. Our data suggest that there is benefit in the use of prophylactic mesh in open aneurysmectomy surgery regarding postoperative IH development.

Abstract
Chronic osteomyelitis (COM) of the lower limb in adults can be surgically managed by either limb reconstruction or amputation. This scoping review aims to map the outcomes used in studies surgically managing COM in order to aid future development of a core outcome set. A total of 11 databases were searched. A subset of studies published between 1 October 2020 and 1 January 2011 from a larger review mapping research on limb reconstruction and limb amputation for the management of lower limb COM were eligible. All outcomes were extracted and recorded verbatim. Outcomes were grouped and categorized as per the revised Williamson and Clarke taxonomy. A total of 3,303 records were screened, of which 99 studies were included. Most studies were case series (77/99; 78%) and assessed one method of reconstruction (68/99; 69%). A total of 511 outcomes were reported, which were grouped into 58 distinct outcomes. Overall, 143/511 of all outcomes (28%) were provided with a clear, in-text definition, and 231 outcomes (45%) had details reported of how and when they were measured. The most commonly reported outcome was 'recurrence of osteomyelitis' (62; 12%). The single-most patient-reported outcome measure was 'pain'. This study has highlighted significant inconsistencies in the defining, reporting, and measuring of outcomes across studies investigating surgical management for chronic osteomyelitis of the lower limb in adults. Future studies should clearly report complete details of how outcomes are defined and measured, including timing. The development of a standardized core outcome set would be of significant benefit in order to allow evidence synthesis and comparison across studies.

Abstract
STUDY DESIGN A randomized, controlled, prospective multicenter clinical trial with a parallel group design was initiated in eight surgical centers to compare a large-pore polypropylene mesh (Ultrapro®) to a small-pore polypropylene mesh (Premilene®) within a standardized retromuscular meshplasty for incisional hernia repair. METHODS Between 2004 and 2006, patients with a fascial defect with a minimum diameter of 4 cm after vertical midline laparotomy were recruited for the trial. Patients underwent retromuscular meshplasty with either a large-pore or a small-pore mesh to identify the superiority of the large-pore mesh. Follow-up visits were scheduled at 5 and 21 days and 4, 12, and 24 months after surgery. A clinical examination, a modified short form 36 (SF-36®), a daily activity questionnaire, and an ultrasound investigation of the abdominal wall were completed at every follow-up visit. The primary outcome criterion was foreign body sensation at the 12-month visit, and the secondary endpoint criteria were the occurrence of hematoma, seroma, and chronic pain within 24 months postoperatively. RESULTS In 8 centers, 181 patients were included in the study. Neither foreign body sensation within the first year after surgery (27.5% Ultrapro®, 32.2% Premilene®) nor the time until the first occurrence of foreign body sensation within the first year was significantly different between the groups. Regarding the secondary endpoints, no significant differences could be observed. At the 2-year follow-up, recurrences occurred in 5 Ultrapro® patients (5.5%) and 4 Premilene® patients (4.4%). CONCLUSION Despite considerable differences in theoretical and experimental works, we have not been able to identify differences in surgical or patient-reported outcomes between the use of large- and small-pore meshes for retromuscular incisional hernia repair. Abstract
AIM Minimally invasive colorectal surgery reduces surgical trauma with better preservation of abdominal wall integrity, but the extraction site is still at risk of incisional hernia (IH). The aim of this study was to determine pooled incidence of IH for each type of extraction site and to compare rates of IH after midline, nonmidline and Pfannenstiel extraction. METHOD A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted using the PRISMA guidelines. Single-armed and multiple-armed cohort studies and randomized controlled trials regarding minimally invasive colorectal surgery were searched from five databases. Outcomes were pooled and compared with random-effects, inverse-variance models. Risk of bias within the studies was assessed using the Cochrane ROBINS-I and RoB 2 tool. RESULTS Thirty six studies were included, with a total 11,788 patients. The pooled extraction site IH rate was 16.0% for midline (n = 4081), 9.3% for umbilical (n = 2425), 5.2% for transverse (n = 3213), 9.4% for paramedian (n = 134) and 2.1% for Pfannenstiel (n = 1449). Nonmidline extraction (transverse and paramedian) showed significantly lower odds ratios (ORs) for IH when compared with midline extraction (including umbilical). Pfannenstiel extraction resulted in a significantly lower OR for IH compared with midline [OR 0.12 (0.50-0.30)], transverse [OR 0.25 (0.13-0.50)] and umbilical (OR 0.072 [0.033-0.16]) extraction sites. The risks of surgical site infection, seroma/haematoma or wound dehiscence were not significantly different in any of the analyses. CONCLUSION Pfannenstiel extraction is the preferred method in minimally invasive colorectal surgery. In cases where Pfannenstiel extraction is not possible, surgeons should avoid specimen extraction in the midline.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The problem of venous thromboembolic events (VTE) after incisional hernia repair remains relevant. According to the literature the frequency of VTE ranges from 0.2 to 4.2%. The data on risk factors of VTE in this cohort of patients are scarce. Aim of our study is to find frequency and risk factors for VTE development in patients who underwent surgery for incisional ventral hernia. MATERIALS AND METHODS There were 240 patients enrolled in our retrospective study. We included patients, who were operated for incisional hernia in Saveljev University Surgery Clinic from January 2018 to December 2019. Compression duplex ultrasound of lower extremity veins was performed within median 3 days (min 1 day, max 7 days) after surgery for all participants. The primary endpoint was the occurrence of the VTE event, including deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). RESULTS VTE was detected in 19 patients, which accounted for 7.9% in analyzed cohort. All patients received standard pharmacological prophylaxis. There were 3 (1.3%) proximal, 16 (6.7%) distal DVT, in one patient (0.4%) distal thrombosis was complicated by symptomatic pulmonary embolism. In multivariate Cox proportional hazard model was found that component separation (HR 3.99, 95% CI 1.14-14.0, p = 0.03), duration of operation in hours (HR 1.67. 95% CI 1.13-2.5, p = 0.011) and body mass index (HR 1.13, 95% CI 1.02-1.2, p = 0.02) were statistically significant risk factors. CONCLUSION The incidence of postoperative VTE in patients after incisional hernia repair is high with a predominant distal DVT as a thrombotic event. Component separation, duration of operation and body mass index are statistically significant factors of VTE in patients undergoing surgery for incisional hernia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hernia repair is one of the most common surgical procedures; however, the long-term outcomes are seldom reported due to incomplete follow-up. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to examine the use of a mobile app for the long-term follow-up of hernia recurrence, complication, and quality-of-life perception. METHODS A cloud-based corroborative system drove a mobile app with the HERQL (Hernia-Specific Quality-of-Life) questionnaire built in. Patients who underwent hernia repair were identified from medical records, and an invitation to participate in this study was sent through the post. RESULTS The response rate was 11.89% (311/2615) during the 1-year study period, whereas the recurrence rate was 1.0% (3/311). Causal relationships between symptomatic and functional domains of the HERQL questionnaire were indicated by satisfactory model fit indices and significant regression coefficients derived from structural equational modeling. Regarding patients' last hernia surgeries, 88.7% (276/311) of the patients reported them to be satisfactory or very satisfactory, 68.5% (213/311) of patients reported no discomfort, and 61.1% (190/311) of patients never experienced mesh foreign body sensation. Subgroup analysis for the most commonly used mesh repairs found that mesh plug repair inevitably resulted in worse symptoms and quality-of-life perception from the group with groin hernias. CONCLUSIONS The mobile app has the potential to enhance the quality of care for patients with hernia and facilitate outcomes research with more complete follow-up.

Abstract
Purpose Incisional hernias often follow open abdominal surgery. A small-stitch–small-bite suture might close the incision durably. We analyzed specific details of this closure technique and assessed their influence on the closure stability. Methods The effects of cyclic loads, simulating coughs were investigated on a bench test. We prepared porcine bellies in the median line and bovine flanks parallel to the muscle fibers with 15 cm long incisions. Then we punched round or rhomboid defects with a diameter of 5–10 cm into the center of the incision. Monomax® 2–0 and Maxon® 1 and 2–0 were used as suture materials. We tested the durability of the closure with pressure impacts of 210 mmHg repeated 425 times. Throughout the experiments, we modified the suturing technique, the surgeon, the tissue tension, the defect size and shape and the suture diameter. Results Standardizing the suture technique improved the durability of the closure significantly. Any other variations showed minor influences after standardization. All incisions with round defects up to 7.5 cm width withstood 425 impacts using standardized suturing. Unstandardized sutures failed in all cases. When closing an incision with a 10 cm wide defect, the tissues ruptured frequently next to the suture line. We defined criteria to standardize this suturing technique. For the first time, we developed a suture factor related to the durability of a sutured tissue closure. We integrated the suture factor into the concept of biomechanically durable repairs. Conclusions Suturing the abdominal wall with a standardized suturing technique improves its durability significantly.

Abstract
Importance Prosthetic reinforcement of critically sized incisional hernias is necessary to decrease hernia recurrence, but long-term prosthetic-mesh footprint may increase complication risk during subsequent abdominal operations. Objective To investigate the association of prior incisional hernia repair with mesh (IHRWM) with postoperative outcomes and health care utilization after common abdominal operations. Design, Setting, and Participants This was a population-based, retrospective cohort study of patients undergoing inpatient abdominal surgical procedures during the period of January 2009 to December 2016, with at least 1 year of follow-up within 5 geographically diverse statewide inpatient/ambulatory databases (Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, New York, Utah). History of an abdominal operation was ascertained within the 3-year period preceding the index operation. Patients admitted to the hospital with a history of an abdominal operation (ie, bariatric, cholecystectomy, small- or large-bowel resection, prostatectomy, gynecologic) were identified using the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision and Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification procedure codes. Patients with prior IHRWM were propensity score matched (1:1) to controls both with and without a history of an abdominal surgical procedure based on clinical and operative characteristics. Data analysis was conducted from March 1 to November 27, 2021. Main Outcomes and Measures The primary outcome was a composite of adverse postoperative outcomes (surgical and nonsurgical). Secondary outcomes included health care utilization determined by length of hospital stay, hospital charges, and 1-year readmissions. Logistic and Cox regression determined the association of prior IHRWM with the outcomes of interest. Additional subanalyses matched and compared patients with prior IHR without mesh (IHRWOM) to those with a history of an abdominal operation. Results Of the 914 105 patients undergoing common abdominal surgical procedures (81 123 bariatric [8.9%], 284 450 small- or large-bowel resection [31.1%], 223 768 cholecystectomy [24.5%], 33 183 prostatectomy [3.6%], and 291 581 gynecologic [31.9%]), all 3517 patients (age group: 46-55 years, 1547 [44.0%]; 2396 majority sex [68.1%]) with prior IHRWM were matched to patients without a history of abdominal surgical procedures. After matching, prior IHRWM was associated with increased overall complications (odds ratio [OR], 1.43; 95% CI, 1.27-1.60), surgical complications (OR, 1.51; 95% CI, 1.34-1.70), length of hospital stay (mean increase of 1.03 days; 95% CI, 0.56-1.49 days; P < .001), index admission charges (predicted mean difference of $11 896.10; 95% CI, $6096.80-$17 695.40; P < .001), and 1-year unplanned readmissions (hazard ratio, 1.14; 95% CI, 1.05-1.25; P = .002). This trend persisted even when comparing matched patients with prior IHRWM to patients with a history of abdominal surgical procedures, and the treatment outcome disappeared when comparing patients with prior IHRWOM to those without a previous abdominal operation. Conclusions and Relevance Reoperation through a previously prosthetic-reinforced abdominal wall was associated with increased surgical complications and health care utilization. This risk appeared to be independent of a history of abdominal surgical procedures and was magnified by the presence of a prosthetic-mesh footprint in the abdominal wall.

Abstract
Robotically assisted operations are the state of the art in laparoscopic general surgery. They are established predominantly for elective operations. Since laparoscopy is widely used in urgent general surgery, the significance of robotic assistance in urgent operations is of interest. Currently, there are few data on robotic-assisted operations in urgent surgery. The aim of this study was to collect and classify the existing studies. A two-stage, PRISMA-compliant literature search of PubMed and the Cochrane Library was conducted. We analyzed all articles on robotic surgery associated with urgent general surgery resp. acute surgical diseases of the abdomen. Gynecological and urological diseases so as vascular surgery, except mesenterial ischemia, were excluded. Studies and case reports/series published between 1980 and 2021 were eligible for inclusion. In addition to a descriptive synopsis, various outcome parameters were systematically recorded. Fifty-two studies of operations for acute appendicitis and cholecystitis, hernias and acute conditions of the gastrointestinal tract were included. The level of evidence is low. Surgical robots in the narrow sense and robotic camera mounts were used. All narrow-sense robots are nonautonomous systems; in 82%, the Da Vinci® system was used. The most frequently published emergency operations were urgent cholecystectomies (30 studies, 703 patients) followed by incarcerated hernias (9 studies, 199 patients). Feasibility of robotic operations was demonstrated for all indications. Neither robotic-specific problems nor extensive complication rates were reported. Various urgent operations in general surgery can be performed robotically without increased risk. The available data do not allow a final evidence-based assessment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Abdominal wall hernia repair is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures worldwide, yet despite this, there remains a lack of high-quality evidence to support best management. The aim of the study was to use a modified Delphi process to determine future research priorities in this field. METHODS Stakeholders were invited by email, using British Hernia Society membership details or Twitter, to submit individual research questions via an online survey. In addition, questions obtained from a patient focus group (PFG) were collated to form Phase I. Two rounds of prioritization by stakeholders (phases II and III) were then completed to determine a final list of research questions. All questions were analyzed on an anonymized basis. RESULTS A total of 266 questions, 19 from the PFG, were submitted by 113 stakeholders in Phase I. Of these, 64 questions were taken forward for prioritization in Phase II, which was completed by 107 stakeholders. Following Phase II analysis, 97 stakeholders prioritized 36 questions in Phase III. This resulted in a final list of 14 research questions, 3 of which were from the PFG. Stakeholders included patients and healthcare professionals (consultant surgeons, trainee surgeons and other multidisciplinary members) from over 27 countries during the 3 phases. CONCLUSION The study has identified 14 key research priorities pertaining to abdominal wall hernia surgery. Uniquely, these priorities have been determined from participation by both healthcare professionals and patients. These priorities should now be addressed by well-designed, high-quality international collaborative research.

Long-term outcomes of seromas after ventral hernia repair: a propensity score-matched analysis of the Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative. Hernia 2022; 27:373-378. Abstract
PURPOSE Seromas can occur after ventral hernia repairs (VHR), but little is known about their relevance to short- and long-term outcomes. We aimed to determine if there is a correlation between seroma occurrence after clean VHR with mesh and patient-reported and clinical outcomes. METHODS Patients with and without seromas in the Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative registry were compared using a propensity score-matched analysis. Outcomes included hospital readmissions, postoperative antibiotics use, and procedural interventions. Pain and hernia-related quality of life were assessed at 30 days and 1 year. Composite hernia recurrence rates were compared at 1 year. RESULTS Propensity score matching compared 218 patients with a seroma to 649 without a seroma. At 30 days, patients with seromas were more likely to be readmitted (27 (12%) vs 28 (4%), respectively; P < 0.001), receive postoperative antibiotics (25 (12%) vs 18 (3%), respectively; P < 0.001), and undergo procedural interventions (41 (19%) vs 23 (4%), respectively; P < 0.001) than patients without seromas. Surgical site occurrences were more common in patients with seromas than those without seromas at 1 year (12 (11%) vs 12 (4%), respectively; P = 0.01).Pain and hernia-related quality of life were similar for both groups at 30 days and 1 year. Composite hernia recurrence rates were similar for both groups at 1 year (37 seroma (17%) vs 115 no seroma (18%); P = 0.80). CONCLUSION Seromas after clean VHR with mesh were associated with short- and long-term morbidity, but they did not significantly impact quality of life or hernia recurrences at 1 year.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although monofilament mesh-based repair is a safe and effective procedure for incisional hernia (IH) in organ transplant patients, there is no definite evidence of IH treatment for patients with graft rejection and enhanced immunosuppressive therapy. We report a successful case of large IH repair using an autologous thigh muscle fascia sheet in a kidney transplant patient. CASE PRESENTATION A 69-year-old man had IH from the incision of kidney transplantation, which was performed 6 years ago. He had a large right lower abdominal distension hanging down to the inguinal portion. A computed tomography scan revealed a large IH with a maximum abdominal defect diameter of 15 cm. The hernia sac contained the intestine, colon, and transplanted kidney, which had pulled out along with the retroperitoneum and protruded into the abdominal wall. He had chronic active acute antibody-mediated rejection, which required frequent steroid pulse therapy and additional or adjusted immunosuppressive drugs. After total circumferential exposure of the hernia sac and abdominal fascia, the abdominal wall defect was closed using a horizontal mattress suture. The sutured line was covered with a thigh muscle fascia sheet harvested from the patient's right femur and attached to the closed fascia. He was discharged on postoperative day 13 without any complications, and no IH recurrence was observed 10 months after surgery. CONCLUSIONS Hernia repair using autologous tissue could be a treatment option for post-transplant IH with a higher risk of infection.

Abstract
With more than 5500 da Vinci Surgical System (DVSS) installed worldwide, the robotic approach for general surgery, including for inguinal hernia repair, is gaining popularity in the USA. However, in many countries outside the USA, robotic surgery is performed at only a few advanced institutions; therefore, its advantages over the open or laparoscopic approaches for inguinal hernia repair are unclear. Several retrospective studies have demonstrated the safety and feasibility of robotic inguinal hernia repair, but there is still no firm evidence to support the superiority of robotic surgery for this procedure or its long-term clinical outcomes. Robotic surgery has the potential to overcome the disadvantages of conventional laparoscopic surgery through appropriate utilization of technological advantages, such as wristed instruments, tremor filtering, and high-resolution 3D images. The potential benefits of robotic inguinal hernia repair are lower rates of complications or recurrence than open and laparoscopic surgery, with less postoperative pain, and a rapid learning curve for surgeons. In this review, we summarize the current status and future prospects of robotic inguinal hernia repair and discuss the issues associated with this procedure.
