Abstract
The Azolla filiculoides plants were challenged with different arsenic (As) concentration under low pH stress conditions. The growth rate and doubling time of the plants were severely affected by higher As treatments at pH 5.00 when compared with stress pH 4.75 treatments. Hence, pH 5.00 was considered for further studies. In 10-30 μM As treated cultures, after 6 days, the relative growth rate (RGR) of Azolla plants was significantly reduced and in higher concentration of As, the RGR was negatively regulated. The root trait parameters were also significantly affected by increasing concentrations of As. Further, photosynthetic performance indicators also show significant decline with increasing As stress. Overall, the plants treated with 40 and 50 μM of As displayed stress phenotypes like negative RGR, reduced doubling time and root growth, browning of leaves and root withering. The total proline, H2O2, POD and Catalase activities were significantly affected by As treatments. Meantime, 30 μM of As treated cultures displayed 15 μg/g/Fw As accumulation and moderate growth rate. Thus, the Azolla plants are suitable for the phytoremediation of As (up to 30 μM concentration) in the aquatic environment under low pH conditions (5.00). Furthermore, the transcriptome studies on revealed that the importance of positively regulated transporters like ACR3, AceTr family, ABC transporter super family in As (10 μM) stress tolerance, uptake and accumulation. The transporters like CPA1, sugar transporters, PiT were highly down-regulated. Further, expression analysis showed that the MATE1, CIP31, HAC1 and ACR3 were highly altered during the As stress conditions.

Abstract
The mainstream of the post-genome target-assisted breeding in crop plant species includes biofortification such as high-throughput phenotyping along with genome-based selection. Therefore, in this work, we used the Web-service Plant_SNP_TATA_Z-tester, which we have previously developed, to run a uniform in silico analysis of the transcriptional alterations of 54,013 protein-coding transcripts from 32,833 Arabidopsis thaliana L. genes caused by 871,707 SNPs located in the proximal promoter region. The analysis identified 54,993 SNPs as significantly decreasing or increasing gene expression through changes in TATA-binding protein affinity to the promoters. The existence of these SNPs in highly conserved proximal promoters may be explained as intraspecific diversity kept by the stabilizing natural selection. To support this, we hand-annotated papers on some of the Arabidopsis genes possessing these SNPs or on their orthologs in other plant species and demonstrated the effects of changes in these gene expressions on plant vital traits. We integrated in silico estimates of the TBP-promoter affinity in the AtSNP_TATAdb knowledge base and showed their significant correlations with independent in vivo experimental data. These correlations appeared to be robust to variations in statistical criteria, genomic environment of TATA box regions, plants species and growing conditions.

Abstract
The molecular mechanism of beneficial bacterium Azospirillum brasilense-mediated root developmental remain elusive. A. brasilense elicited extensively transcriptional changes but inhibited primary root elongation in Arabidopsis. By analyzing root cell type-specific developmental markers, we demonstrated that A. brasilense affected neither overall organization nor cell division of primary root meristem. The cessation of primary root resulted from reduction of cell elongation, which is probably because of bacterially activated peroxidase that will lead to cell wall cross-linking at consuming of H2O2. The activated peroxidase combined with downregulated cell wall loosening enzymes consequently led to cell wall thickness, whereas inhibiting peroxidase restored root growth under A. brasilense inoculation. We further showed that peroxidase activity was probably promoted by cadaverine secreted by A. brasilense. These results suggest that A. brasilense inhibits root elongation by activating peroxidase and inducing cell wall modification in Arabidopsis, in which cadaverine released by A. brasilense is a potential signal compound.

Abstract
The rhizosphere is the soil-plant interface colonized by bacterial and fungal species that exert growth-promoting and adaptive benefits. The plant-bacteria relationships rely upon the perception of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), canonical phytohormones such as auxins and cytokinins, and the bacterial quorum sensing-related N-acyl-L-homoserine lactones and cyclodipeptides. On the other hand, plant-beneficial Trichoderma fungi emit highly active VOCs, including 6-pentyl-2H-pyran-2-one (6-PP), and β-caryophyllene, which contribute to plant morphogenesis, but also into how these microbes spread over roots or live as endophytes. Here, we describe recent findings concerning how compounds from beneficial bacteria and fungi affect root architecture and advance into the signaling events that mediate microbial recognition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), such as Bradyrhizobium japonicum IRAT FA3, are able to improve seed germination and plant growth under various biotic and abiotic stress conditions, including high salinity stress. PGPR can affect plants' responses to stress via multiple pathways which are often interconnected but were previously thought to be distinct. Although the overall impacts of PGPR on plant growth and stress tolerance have been well documented, the underlying mechanisms are not fully elucidated. This work contributes to understanding how PGPR promote abiotic stress by revealing major plant pathways triggered by B. japonicum under salt stress. RESULTS The plant growth-promoting rhizobacterial (PGPR) strain Bradyrhizobium japonicum IRAT FA3 reduced the levels of sodium in Arabidopsis thaliana by 37.7%. B. japonicum primed plants as it stimulated an increase in jasmonates (JA) and modulated hydrogen peroxide production shortly after inoculation. B. japonicum-primed plants displayed enhanced shoot biomass, reduced lipid peroxidation and limited sodium accumulation under salt stress conditions. Q(RT)-PCR analysis of JA and abiotic stress-related gene expression in Arabidopsis plants pretreated with B. japonicum and followed by six hours of salt stress revealed differential gene expression compared to non-inoculated plants. Response to Desiccation (RD) gene RD20 and reactive oxygen species scavenging genes CAT3 and MDAR2 were up-regulated in shoots while CAT3 and RD22 were increased in roots by B. japonicum, suggesting roles for these genes in B. japonicum-mediated salt tolerance. B. japonicum also influenced reductions of RD22, MSD1, DHAR and MYC2 in shoots and DHAR, ADC2, RD20, RD29B, GTR1, ANAC055, VSP1 and VSP2 gene expression in roots under salt stress. CONCLUSION Our data showed that MYC2 and JAR1 are required for B. japonicum-induced shoot growth in both salt stressed and non-stressed plants. The observed microbially influenced reactions to salinity stress in inoculated plants underscore the complexity of the B. japonicum jasmonic acid-mediated plant response salt tolerance.

Abstract
Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant hormone that plays an important role in cotton fiber development. In this study, the physiological changes and proteomic profiles of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) ovules were analyzed after 20 days of ABA or ABA inhibitor (ABAI) treatment. The results showed that compared to the control (CK), the fiber length was significantly decreased under ABA treatment and increased under ABAI treatment. Using a tandem mass tags-based quantitative technique, the proteomes of cotton ovules were comprehensively analyzed. A total of 7321 proteins were identified, of which 365 and 69 differentially accumulated proteins (DAPs) were identified in ABA versus CK and ABAI versus CK, respectively. Specifically, 345 and 20 DAPs were up- and down-regulated in the ABA group, and 65 and 4 DAPs were up- and down-regulated in the ABAI group, respectively. The DAPs in the ABA group were mainly enriched in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis and flavonoid secondary metabolism, whereas the DAPs in the ABAI group were mainly enriched in the indole alkaloid biosynthesis and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathways. Moreover, 9 proteins involved in phenylpropanoid biosynthesis were upregulated after ABA treatment, suggesting that this pathway might play important roles in the response to ABA, and 3 auxin-related proteins were upregulated, indicating that auxin might participate in the regulation of fiber development under ABAI treatment.
