Abstract
We herein report a rare case of leiomyoma of the urethra. A young woman with no history of malignancy was referred to our hospital because of a 1-year history of frequent urination, urgency, and dysuria. Postoperative pathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of urethral leiomyoma. After tumor resection, the patient was followed up for 2 months in the outpatient department and developed no obvious postoperative complications such as urinary incontinence.

Abstract
Leiomyoma is a benign smooth muscle tumor which is rarely found in urethra. It often appears in females during their reproductive age (from menarche to menopause); the mean age of their appearance is approximately 41 years. Less than 100 cases were reported in the literature. We hereby report a case of a 52-year-old White woman who presented with complaints of dysuria and urinary tract infection. The mass was completely removed by transvaginal excision with a rim of normal tissue. Histopathological studies confirmed the urethral leiomyoma. The patient remained asymptomatic and there was no evidence of recurrence in the followup.

Abstract
Leiomyomas are benign tumours of smooth muscle origin and are the most common uterine masses in females of reproductive age group. Extrauterine leiomyomas are also encountered occassionally and most commonly they involve the genitourinary tract. Leiomyomas arising from urethral smooth muscle are exceptionally unusual which can pose a diagnostic dilemma. Patients usually present with urinary complaints and an intraluminal soft tissue mass bulging from urethral meatus. We are presenting the imaging findings of leiomyoma of distal urethra presenting as a perineal mass with histopathological correlation.

Abstract

Abstract
Urethral leiomyoma is an extremely rare condition that arises from the smooth muscle of the urethra. To the best of our knowledge, there is only a single reported recurrence treated by a repeat excision in the literature to date. The present study reports an exceptionally rare case of a recurrent huge leiomyoma of the female urethra. The 47-year-old female was diagnosed with a huge mass located between the urethra and vagina during a gynecological examination. The patient had no symptoms and was successfully treated with transabdominal excision. Pathological examinations revealed a leiomyoma of the urethra. The patient was followed up for one year without any sign of recurrence.

Abstract
Leiomyomas though common benign tumors of smooth muscle cells are extremely rare in the male genitourinary tract. We present a case of an elderly male who presented with complaints suggestive of urinary bladder outlet obstruction since 1 year. His evaluation showed it due to a tumour arising from the left seminal vesicle. Excision of the tumor was done which was diagnosed on histopathology as leiomyoma. A brief case report and review of literature is being presented.

Abstract
Solid urethral and peri-urethral lesions are rare and encompass benign and malignant aetiologies. A diagnosis without imaging is often challenging secondary to non-specific clinical symptoms and overlapping findings at the time of physical examination. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging may be helpful in confirming a diagnosis while providing anatomical detail and delineating disease extent. This article reviews the normal MR anatomy of the male and female urethra, the MR appearance of solid primary and secondary urethral lesions, and the MR appearance of solid urethral lesion mimics. Teaching points • MRI is an important imaging technique in the evaluation of the spectrum of solid urethral lesions. • With excellent soft tissue resolution, MR is accurate in staging primary urethral carcinoma. • Disruption of the zonal anatomy of the female urethral wall indicates peri-urethral extension. • Be aware of benign urethral lesions, particularly those that may mimic solid urethral masses.

Abstract
Periurethral masses in females are rarely observed, although they can occur anywhere along the genitourinary tract. They may be detected on physical examination or present with symptoms such as vaginal swelling, bladder outlet obstruction, vaginal bleeding, hematuria, or urinary tract infection. We report a sexually inactive, 27-year-old woman with an exophytic, fimbria-like periurethral mass. The benign nature of the lesion was suspected on the basis of the findings of magnetic resonance imaging. Surgical enucleation was performed. The microscopic examination revealed a urethral leiomyoma. Immunohistochemical study confirmed a leiomyoma with positive staining for smooth muscle actin and negative staining for S-100.

Abstract
We report a case of paraurethral leiomyoma in a female patient, in which the first symptoms were dysuria and sensation of incomplete voiding. The physical examination revealed a mass in the anterior vaginal wall. The diagnosis was made through ultrasonography and pelvic MRI and confirmed by transvaginal ultrasound-guided needle biopsy. The surgical excision was accomplished without opening the urinary tract. A review of the relevant published studies and a suggestion for the appropriate management of these cases are included.

Abstract
Urethral leiomyomas in women arise from the smooth muscle of the urethra and are rare, benign urethral tumors seen primarily in women. We present three cases of urethral leiomyomas identified over a 30-year period at our institution. A 45-year old woman presented with a 1 year history of frequency, nocturia, and hesitancy and was found to have both a 2-cm proximal urethral and a 3-cm posterior bladder leiomyoma. She developed stress urinary incontinence postoperatively and was treated with a Burch colposuspension. A 33-year old woman with hematuria was found to have both a 3-cm urethral and a 3-cm paraurethral leiomyoma at the bladder neck. A 21-year old without urinary complaints was found to have a 3-cm leiomyoma at the urethral meatus. Urethral leiomyomas must be differentiated from paraurethral leiomyomas, which are often asymptomatic and may be removed without disrupting the urethral mucosa or smooth muscle. The removal of urethral myomas may be complicated by the development stress urinary incontinence or urethral stricture.

Abstract
Leiomyoma of the urethra is a relatively rare condition often presenting as an anterior vaginal wall mass or a mass that protrudes from the urethral meatus. We report on the urodynamic changes after vaginal surgery to remove a suburethral leiomyoma, which protruded from the vaginal orifice resulting in dysuria and dyspareunia. Urodynamic studies before the operation revealed a high detrusor pressure, low maximum flow rate with an elevated post-void residual urine on voluntary voiding, and high resting urethral resistance. Removal of the mass with proper reconstruction of paraurethral support restored normal detrusor pressure, maximum flow rate, and post-void residual, resulting in amelioration of her voiding difficulty and dyspareunia. The operative procedure did not affect leak point pressure and she is free from stress urinary incontinence.

Abstract
We report a case of leiomyoma of the female urethra and a review of the literature. A mass protruding from the urethral meatus caused voiding difficulty and dysuria. Uroflowmetry showed an obstructive pattern with low maximum urine flow. Cystourethroscopy revealed a mass arising from lateral urethral wall extending from meatus up to 2 cm proximally. Histopathological studies confirmed urethral leiomyoma. Surgery completely resolved the original symptoms.

Abstract
Leiomyomas are rare in the urinary tract, with the kidney capsule being the most common location [1]. Leiomyoma of the female urethra is very rare. In 1992, Cheng et al. reviewed a total of 29 cases. They concluded that urethral leiomyoma is a rare condition that is difficult to distinguish clinically from other urethral lesions and that a histological diagnosis is essential [2]. Although we agree that the histological diagnosis is essential, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides useful pre-operative information in cases of leiomyoma of the female urethra, as our present case indicates. To our knowledge we report the second case of a primarily diagnostic approach with MRI for leiomyoma of the female urethra. Ikeda, R. (2001). Clinical Radiology56, 76-79.

Abstract
Leiomyomas of the urinary tract are benign and uncommon forms of tumor. In the present study, two cases have been described of leiomyomas situated in the bladder. Following this description, the pathological characteristics and the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of these lesions have been examined. The clinical symptomatology depends on the tumor site, and this type of lesion is more frequently found in women.. Treatment mainly consists of endoscopic resection, but may involve cystectomy. The prognosis for patients with this type of tumor is invariably favorable.

Abstract
Leiomyoma of the female urethra is a benign mesenchymal tumour highly infrequent in the clinical practice. There is controversy as to its degree of oestrogen hormone dependency and its diagnosis is reached only after pathohistological study of the resection specimen. This type of tumour has excellent prognosis, with few tumoral relapses and no case of malignant transformation having been reported for the time being. Contribution of one case report of leiomyoma of the female urethra with typical clinical-epidemiological features but very uncommon from a topographic insight, as it was located in the anterior side of the distal urethra.

Abstract
We report on a unique-sized large leiomyoma of the bladder wall in a male patient. After open surgical intervention all symptoms resolved spontaneously and no relapse occurred within a 3-year follow-up period. In conclusion, for symptomatic leiomyoma of the bladder surgical intervention should be considered as an early treatment option since it is associated with low morbidity, a high cure rate for this type of tumor and an immediate relief of urological symptoms.
