Abstract
Feet suffer significant stress throughout a lifetime and undergo ageing-associated problems due to gradual tissue degeneration affecting the skin, connective tissue, and nerves. Oxygen supply to the tissues may be diminished. The skin gets dry and calluses, ulcers and fungal infections of the skin and nails are not uncommon. Ligaments and tendons degenerate and, without proper prevention, deformities including claw toes, hammer toes, tendonitis, and bursitis may occur. Skeletal toe deformities such as bunions, bony spurs, and hallux valgus may increase discomfort, while stress fractures may have an adverse impact on the patients' quality of life. The ageing foot pathology may add up to common age-related problems, such as crystal deposition arthropathies, diabetes mellitus, peripheral circulatory disorders, and peripheral edema, increasing morbidity. This review summarizes ageing-related feet problems, focusing on prevention and treatment. Foot health has a paramount role in overall wellbeing, therefore prevention, proper foot care, and prompt diagnosis and management of ageing-related changes are vital for maintaining a healthy, active status.

Abstract
Acne-like eruption caused by anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antibodies such as panitumumab reduces treatment adherence and patient QOL; an alternative therapy is desired. Meanwhile, the usefulness of oral Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) for acne-like eruptions caused by low-molecular-weight EGFR inhibitors such as erlotinib has been reported in the treatment of lung cancer. This study aimed to investigate whether the combined use of oral NSAIDs and panitumumab for colorectal cancer patients helps prevent acne-like eruption. We retrospectively investigated 167 colorectal cancer patients who had been treated with panitumumab for three cycles or more. The observation period was set from the start of panitumumab treatment to the end of three cycles. Within this period, the incidence and severity of acne-like eruptions were compared. A total of 59 and 108 patients were in the NSAIDs use and non-use groups, respectively, showing differences in the incidence of acne-like eruption rates (78.0 vs. 90.7%, respectively; p = 0.033). In the use group, eruption severity grades 0, 1, 2, and 3 were observed in 13, 33, 13, and 0 patients, respectively; the corresponding values in the non-use group were 10, 60, 36, and 2, respectively (p = 0.007). Oral NSAIDs may help prevent acne-like eruptions caused by panitumumab.

Abstract
Aging is characterized by a progressive deterioration of physiological integrity, leading to impaired functional ability and ultimately increased susceptibility to death. It is a major risk factor for chronic human diseases, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurological degeneration, and cancer. Therefore, the growing emphasis on “healthy aging” raises a series of important questions in life and social sciences. In recent years, there has been unprecedented progress in aging research, particularly the discovery that the rate of aging is at least partly controlled by evolutionarily conserved genetic pathways and biological processes. In an attempt to bring full-fledged understanding to both the aging process and age-associated diseases, we review the descriptive, conceptual, and interventive aspects of the landscape of aging composed of a number of layers at the cellular, tissue, organ, organ system, and organismal levels.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the prevalence of skin tears, and demographic and clinical factors associated with their presence in older adult residents of long-term care facilities. METHOD This observational, quantitative, cross-sectional, epidemiological study was conducted with older adult residents of three long-term care facilities in São Paulo, Brazil. For data collection, four instruments were used: a questionnaire assessing sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of the residents; and the Brazilian-Portuguese versions of the Mini-Mental State Examination, Skin Tear Audit Research (STAR) Skin Tear Classification System, and the Katz Index of Independence in Activities of Daily Living. RESULTS A total of 69 residents took part in the study. The prevalence of skin tears was 11.6%. Skin tears were significantly associated with the presence of haematoma (odds ratio, OR=9.159; p=0.017) and actinic purpura (OR=6.265; p=0.033), which increased the odds of skin tear development nine-fold and six-fold, respectively. CONCLUSION The findings agree with the international literature. Considering that this was the first epidemiological study on skin tears carried out in long-term care facilities for older adults in Brazil, its contribution lies in the systematisation of data collection and making data available on a field that has not yet been studied in this country.

Abstract
Background Palliative wound care is important for stability in terminal care. It addresses both the physical and psychological needs of patients and facilitates other aspects of terminal care. Appropriate competencies of nurses regarding palliative wound care can improve patient outcomes and raise their quality of life. The purpose of this study was to identify how wound care nurses structure the subjective frames regarding palliative wound care. Method This study utilized Q-methodology to analyze their subjective viewpoints. Forty nurses experienced in palliative wound care were asked to completely classify 35 Q-statements into a normal distribution shape. The PQ-Method program was used to conduct principal factor analysis and varimax rotation for data analysis. Results This study revealed 4 Q-factors of palliative wound care: “Focusing on care within the boundary of current patient demands,” “Comparing continuously the priorities on wound healing and disease care,” “Preparing and preventing from worsening via tracking care in advance,” and “Moving forward with a clear direction by confronting the declining condition.” Conclusion We hope that the results of this study are used in the development of nursing education that reflects professional perspectives of palliative wound care, thus helping to improve nursing competencies in palliative care.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate the cumulative incidence, characteristics, and risk factors of medical device-related pressure injuries (MDRPIs), including patient outcomes, in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a university hospital. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY/DESIGN A prospective observational cohort study. SETTING The study was conducted in an university hospital between November 2019 and October 2020. METHODS The study included patients over the age of 18 years who had a device in situ and stayed in the ICU for more than 24 h. Each device was monitored twice a day for 15 days; the clinical assessment was performed daily until ICU discharge or death. The Case Report Form, MDRPI Monitoring Form, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE-II), Braden Scale, National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) staging and categories, and Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) were used for data collection. Patients with and without MDRPIs were compared for demographic and clinical characteristics, length of ICU stay, and mortality by using t-test and Chi-square test. Cumulative incidence was calculated. Logistic regression model was used to investigate risk factors. RESULTS The incidence rate of MDRPIs was 48.8% (84/172 patients). Most of the MDRPIs developed in the mucosa; hence, they could not be staged (63.7%). Of the remaining MDRPIs on the skin, 18.7%, 13%, and 4.6% were categorized as Stage I, II, and III, respectively. In terms of anatomical locations, most commonly occurred in the head and neck region (62.3%). Among the twelve medical devices that caused MDRPIs, endotracheal tubes (61 cases), urinary catheters (46 cases), nasogastric tubes (30 cases) and non-invasive masks (17 cases) were most commonly reported. In multivariate analysis, age (46-64 years) (p = 0.008, OR = 12.457), history of cardiovascular diseases (p = 0.021, OR = 0.044), administration of vasopressors (p = 0.013, OR = 0.089), length of ICU stay (≥22 days, p = 0.048, OR = 0.055) and requirement for mechanical ventilation (p = 0.028, OR = 10.252) were identified as independent risk factors of the occurrence of MDRPI. CONCLUSIONS This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the risk of MDRPI in critically ill adults. The incidence of MDRPIs was high and was associated with several factors. It is critical that MDRPIs are taken seriously by all members of the healthcare team, especially nurses, and that protocols should be established for improvements.

Abstract
Skin aging is a natural process influenced by intrinsic and extrinsic factors, and many skin anti-aging strategies have been developed. Plants from the genus Potentilla has been used in Europe and Asia to treat various diseases. Potentilla paradoxa Nutt. has been used as a traditional medicinal herb in China and has recently been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects. Despite the biological and pharmacological potential of Potentilla paradoxa Nutt., its skin anti-aging effects remain unclear. Therefore, this study evaluated the free radical scavenging, moisturizing, anti-melanogenic, and wound-healing effects of an ethanol extract of Potentilla paradoxa Nutt. (Pp-EE). Pp-EE was found to contain phenolics and flavonoids and exhibits in vitro antioxidant activities. α-Linolenic acid was found to be a major component of Pp-EE on gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Pp-EE promoted the expression of hyaluronic acid (HA) synthesis-related enzymes and suppressed the expression of HA degradation-related enzymes in keratinocytes, so it may increase skin hydration. Pp-EE also showed inhibitory effects on the production and secretion of melanin in melanocytes. In a scratch assay, Pp-EE improved skin wound healing. Taken together, Pp-EE has several effects that may delay skin aging, suggesting its potential benefits as a natural ingredient in cosmetic or pharmaceutical products.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To map the use of the term "skin failure" in the literature over time and enhance understanding of this term as it is used in clinical practice. DATA SOURCES The databases searched for published literature included PubMed, Embase, the Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and Google Scholar. The search for unpublished literature encompassed two databases, Open Gray and ProQuest Dissertation and Theses. STUDY SELECTION Search terms included "skin failure," "acute skin failure," "chronic skin failure," and "end stage skin." All qualitative and quantitative research designs, editorial, opinion pieces, and case studies were included, as well as relevant gray literature. DATA EXTRACTION Data collected included author, title, year of publication, journal name, whether the term "skin failure" was mentioned in the publication and/or in conjunction with other skin injury, study design, study setting, study population, sample size, main focus of the publication, what causes skin failure, skin failure definition, primary study aim, and primary outcome. DATA SYNTHESIS Two main themes of skin failure were identified through this scoping review: the etiology of skin failure and the interchangeable use of definitions. CONCLUSIONS Use of the term "skin failure" has increased significantly over the past 30 years. However, there remains a significant lack of empirical evidence related to skin failure across all healthcare settings. The lack of quality research has resulted in multiple lines of thinking on the cause of skin failure, as well as divergent definitions of the concept. These results illustrate substantial gaps in the current literature and an urgent need to develop a globally agreed-upon definition of skin failure, as well as a better understanding of skin failure etiology.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Mask wearing is now ubiquitous because of the COVID-19 pandemic and has given rise to medical device-related pressure injuries in persons at risk of skin breakdown. The ear has unique anatomy that is particularly susceptible to injury from pressure. In this time of mandatory personal protective equipment requirements in healthcare facilities, protection and assessment of skin in the vulnerable postauricular area are needed. This article presents a case report of a pressure injury on the ear, reviews the anatomy of the ear, and provides strategies for assessment and treatment of pressure injuries in this often overlooked anatomic region.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the relationship between pressure ulcers risk and severity of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) by invasive coronary angiography. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. METHODS A total of 193 consecutive patients with underlying pressure ulcers risk who underwent invasive coronary angiography were enrolled. Subjects were divided into three groups according to severity of coronary artery stenosis. Pressure ulcers risk score, fall risk score, self-care ability score and cardiovascular risk factors were compared among the three groups. Multivariate regression analysis and receiver operating curve analysis were performed to explore the diagnostic value of Braden score for left main or three-vessel disease. RESULTS Patients with more severe CAD had higher pressure ulcers risk. The percentage of high-pressure ulcers risk was highest in left main or three-vessel disease group, compared with control group and single- or two-vessel disease group. After adjusting for age, body mass index, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and other confounding factors, Braden score was an independent predictor of left main or three-vessel disease. Moreover, higher Braden score had a moderate area under the curve for excluding more severe CAD. In conclusion, among patients planning for coronary angiography, pressure ulcers risk assessment is conducive to predict the severity of obstructive CAD.
