Abstract
BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE Cicatricial alopecia not only affects patients' appearance but also has negative effects on their physical and mental well-being, as well as their daily lives. Therefore, it is essential to provide proactive treatment to patients. OBJECTIVE To explore the clinical effects of autologous follicular unit extraction (FUE) transplantation in the treatment of secondary scarring alopecia caused by burn, and to evaluate its effectiveness. METHODS A retrospective observational study has been conducted, which included 41 patients with secondary scarring alopecia caused by burn. All patients underwent initial autologous FUE hair transplantation surgery, and the occurrence of postoperative complications was monitored. Patient satisfaction was evaluated after 12 months post-surgery. RESULTS Satisfaction assessments were conducted for all 41 patients. Out of the total, 31 individuals expressed being very satisfied, 7 individuals reported being satisfied, and 3 individuals indicated being not very satisfied. Among the patients, 3 experienced complications, including herpes in the donor area for one patient, temporary hair loss for another patient, and thick scab for the third patient. CONCLUSION FUE hair transplantation yields positive results for secondary scarring alopecia caused by burn. It offers natural hair growth patterns, minimal trauma, quick recovery, high patient satisfaction, and few complications.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a prevalent type of hair loss that impacts individuals of both genders. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and minoxidil have been employed as therapeutic interventions for AGA, yet the efficacy of their concurrent use remains ambiguous. OBJECTIVE To perform a comprehensive review and meta-analysis aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in combination with minoxidil for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). METHODS We conducted a comprehensive search of the databases PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library, encompassing their complete records up until December 2023. Eligible studies were randomized controlled trials that compared the combination of PRP and minoxidil with minoxidil or PRP alone in patients with AGA. The primary outcome measure was the change in hair growth as assessed by the hair density or hair thickness. Secondary outcome measures included patient satisfaction, and global photographic assessment. RESULTS A total of 6 studies involving 343 participants were included in this meta-analysis. The results showed that PRP combined with minoxidil significantly improved hair growth compared to minoxidil or PRP alone. The pooled analysis demonstrated a significant increase in hair density (weighted mean difference [WMD] = 9.14; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 6.57-11.70) and hair diameter (WMD = 4.72; 95% CI 3.21-6.23) in the PRP combined with minoxidil group. Moreover, patients receiving PRP combined with minoxidil reported higher satisfaction rates compared to those using minoxidil or PRP alone. CONCLUSIONS This meta-analysis suggests that PRP combined with minoxidil is an effective treatment for AGA, providing significant improvement in hair growth and patient satisfaction. Abstract
BACKGROUND Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common yet difficult-to-treat condition, which is an important psychosocial problem. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy has been considered as a promising treatment for AGA. However, the current evidence on the efficacy of PRP for treating AGA is still controversial. This study evaluated the efficacy of PRP monotherapy in the treatment of AGA. METHODS We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science to collect randomized controlled trials on use of PRP in AGA for a meta-analysis. RESULTS Ten trials with a total 555 treatment units were identified. The hair density in PRP group was significantly higher than control group [MD = 25.09, 95%CI: 9.03-41.15, p = 0.002], but there was no significant difference in hair diameter between two groups [SMD = 0.57, 95%CI: - 0.23 to 1.38, p = 0.16]. Subgroup analyses indicated that hair density was significantly higher among the male-only trials than in the mixed-sex samples (p = 0.02). In addition, neither the split-head design nor the year of publication affected hair density (p = 0.05, p = 0.06). However, hair density was significantly higher in trials with a sample size less than 30 (p = 0.0004). CONCLUSIONS PRP treatment increased hair density in participants with AGA, but not hair diameter. In terms of hair density, PRP elicits stronger effects in male patients. There was a trend toward differed treatment effect by gender with PRP injection, which warrants further investigation. Especially in the case of female. Abstract
Introduction Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a solution of concentrated platelets, has been widely used to promote wound repair and tissue regeneration. In the treatment of pattern hair loss, platelets in PRP secrete an abundance of growth factors, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), fibroblast growth factor(FGF), and many more, which stimulate and increase signaling molecules and accelerate cell proliferation. In the PRP treatment for hair regrowth, the supratrochlear nerve (STN) block and supraorbital nerve (SON) block are given to anesthetize the scalp up to the vertex except for the temporal region. The ring block is the common local anesthetic technique used by infiltrating local anesthetic agents around the target area. The primary objectives were to compare the pain and anesthetic success rates produced by regional nerve blocks and ring blocks. Materials and methods A sample size of 100 patients undergoing PRP treatment for hair regrowth were taken as the subjects for the study. Patients were allotted into two groups by randomization. Group 1 was given regional nerve blocks as the anesthetic technique used for local anesthesia, and group 2 was given ring blocks. In the study group, STN and SON blocks as the regional nerve blocks were given 2% lignocaine with 1:80000 adrenaline to anesthetize the area, and the PRP was injected from the anterior hairline up to the vertex of the scalp, not involving the occipital and temporal regions. In the control group, a ring block was given for the same procedure. Participants from both groups were assessed for the pain and analgesia caused by ring block and regional nerve blocks using the visual analog scale (VAS). Results A mean rank of 30.28 was observed for the regional nerve block technique, and a mean rank of 70.72 was observed for the ring block technique. A p-value of 0.00 that is <0.05 was observed, which shows there is a significant difference in the pain and the analgesia experienced by the subjects between the two groups, during and three hours after the procedure. Conclusion PRP is one of the most commonly used treatments for hair regrowth. The ring block is the common local anesthetic technique used for producing anesthesia, while regional nerve blocks are more effective in producing local anesthesia. This study proves that STN and SON blocks are better anesthetic techniques than the ring block technique for PRP treatment in hair growth.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the clinical effects of autologous follicular unit extraction (FUE) transplantation in the treatment of secondary scarring alopecia caused by infections, and to evaluate its effectiveness. METHODS A retrospective observational study has been conducted, which included nine patients with secondary scarring alopecia caused by infections. All patients underwent initial autologous FUE hair transplantation surgery, and the occurrence of postoperative complications was monitored. Patient satisfaction was evaluated after 12 months post-surgery. RESULTS At the follow-up, postoperative satisfaction was 88.9% in nine patients, with only one case of postoperative infection and no incidence of skin necrosis, significant bruising and swelling, unnatural appearance or temporary hair loss. CONCLUSIONS Autologous FUE hair transplantation is an effective method for treating secondary scarring alopecia caused by infections. This procedure is minimally invasive, resulting in high patient satisfaction and minimal complications postoperatively.

Furthermore, ongoing investigations explore its potential in wound healing, orthopedics, dermatology, and even in dentistry, showcasing its versatility and promising outcomes across various medical disciplines. Additionally, the safety and efficacy of platelet-rich plasma therapies are subjects of continual scrutiny, aiming to refine protocols and expand its clinical utility with robust scientific evidence. The growing interest in this regenerative approach underscores its potential as a valuable tool in modern medical practice. Platelet-rich plasma therapy represents a promising avenue for personalized medicine, offering tailored treatment approaches that capitalize on the body's own healing mechanisms to promote tissue repair and regeneration.

Abstract
The skin's recognised functions may undergo physiological alterations due to ageing, manifesting as varying degrees of facial wrinkles, diminished tautness, density, and volume. Additionally, these functions can be disrupted (patho)physiologically through various physical and chemical injuries, including surgical trauma, accidents, or chronic conditions like ulcers associated with diabetes mellitus, venous insufficiency, or obesity. Advancements in therapeutic interventions that boost the skin's innate regenerative abilities could significantly enhance patient care protocols. The application of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is widely recognized for its aesthetic and functional benefits to the skin. Yet, the endorsement of PRP's advantages often borders on the dogmatic, with its efficacy commonly ascribed solely to the activation of fibroblasts by the factors contained within platelet granules. PRP therapy is a cornerstone of regenerative medicine which involves the autologous delivery of conditioned plasma enriched by platelets. This is achieved by centrifugation, removing erythrocytes while retaining platelets and their granules. Despite its widespread use, the precise sequences of cellular activation, the specific cellular players, and the molecular machinery that drive PRP-facilitated healing are still enigmatic. There is still a paucity of definitive and robust studies elucidating these mechanisms. In recent years, telocytes (TCs)-a unique dermal cell population-have shown promising potential for tissue regeneration in various organs, including the dermis. TCs' participation in neo-angiogenesis, akin to that attributed to PRP, and their role in tissue remodelling and repair processes within the interstitia of several organs (including the dermis), offer intriguing insights. Their potential to contribute to, or possibly orchestrate, the skin regeneration process following PRP treatment has elicited considerable interest. Therefore, pursuing a comprehensive understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms at work, particularly those involving TCs, their temporal involvement in structural recovery following injury, and the interconnected biological events in skin wound healing and regeneration represents a compelling field of study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hair loss can cause psychological distress for patients, regardless of the etiology or extent of the defect. Many conservative and pharmacological approaches are successful in management, but refractory or severe cases often mandate surgical treatment. Surgical techniques have been refined over the course of a century, and we aim to review the most contemporary strategies. METHODS A review of the literature was performed using the databases PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase, in May 2020. Articles were included if they discussed techniques used within the past 10 years, in search of more contemporary strategies and the most widely used approaches. RESULTS The use of local flaps, scalp reduction surgery, and hair transplantation techniques are all used for various indications. Modern hair transplantation can be further divided into follicular unit excision and follicular unit transplantation, each with its own advantages. Local flaps are most often used for post-traumatic and reconstructive indication, while hair transplantation can be used for smaller cosmetic lesions or in combination with a variety of other reconstructive techniques. CONCLUSION Hair loss continues to be a challenging pathology for both patients and physicians, regardless of etiology. When conservative treatment is inadequate, there exist multiple surgical techniques that can feasibly restore hair, though the exact degree of success may vary between patients. The proper technique is dependent upon etiology, patient specific factors, as well as surgeon experience and comfort. Abstract
BACKGROUND Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is one of the most common hair loss diseases worldwide. However, current treatments including medicine, surgery, and stem cells are limited for various reasons. Cell-free fat extract (CEFFE), contains various cell factors, may have potential abilities in treating AGA. This study aims to evaluate the safety, effectiveness and the underlying mechanism of CEFFE in treating AGA. METHODS Sex hormone evaluation, immunogenicity assay and genotoxicity assay were conducted for CEFFE. In vivo study, male C57BL/6 mice were injected subcutaneously with dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and were treated with different concentration of CEFFE for 18 days (five groups and n = 12 in each group: Control, Model, CEFFELow, CEFFEMiddle, CEFFEHigh). Anagen entry rate and hair coverage percentage were analyzed through continuously taken gross photographs. The angiogenesis and proliferation of hair follicle cells were evaluated by hematoxylin-eosin, anti-CD31, and anti-Ki67 staining. In vitro study, dermal papilla cells (DPCs) were incubated with different concentrations of CEFFE, DHT, or CEFFE + DHT, followed by CCK-8 assay and flow cytometry to evaluate cell proliferation cycle and apoptosis. The intracellular DHT level were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The expression of 5α-reductase type II, 3α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and androgen receptor were assessed through reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) or/and western blot. RESULTS In CEFFE-treated mice, an increase in the anagen entry rate and hair coverage percentage was observed. The number of CD31-positive capillaries and Ki67-positive cells were increased, suggesting that CEFFE promoted the proliferation of DPCs, modulated the cell cycle arrest, inhibited apoptosis caused by DHT, reduced the intracellular concentration of DHT in DPCs, and downregulated the expression of AR. CONCLUSIONS CEFFE is a novel and effective treatment option for AGA through producing an increased hair follicle density and hair growth rate. The proposed mechanisms are through the DHT/AR pathway regulation and regional angiogenesis ability.

Abstract
BACKGROUND While numerous studies have demonstrated enhanced hair growth following platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments in patients with male and female pattern hair loss, no study has demonstrated its impact on quality of life (QoL) using a validated tool. OBJECTIVE This prospective study aimed to assess the psychological impact of PRP treatment for hair loss. METHODS PRP scalp injections were repeated monthly for the first 3 months, then quarterly for 1 year, and annually thereafter. HAIRDEX 48, a validated scale assessing QoL for patients with alopecia, was administered before PRP and at each visit. Scores were interpolated on a 0-100 scale: 0 representing highest QoL, 100 lowest, and compared using paired t-tests. RESULTS Ninety-two patients receiving PRP were analyzed. Mean age was 48.2 ± 17.4 years and 55% were male. Patients had an average of 4 ± 2 treatments; most (60%) had ≥4. Thirty patients (33%) completed both pre- and post-PRP questionnaires. Prior to PRP, 61% tried minoxidil, 16% finasteride, and 1% hair transplant. Total HAIRDEX scores improved from a mean of 23.2 ± 15.4 to 19.7 ± 11.3 after 3-5 months after PRP (p < 0.001). There were also decreases in symptoms (10.0 ± 12.0 vs. 9.6 ± 10.8, p < 0.001), functioning (16.1 ± 18.1 vs. 13.3 ± 12.6, p < 0.001), and emotions domains (37.7 ± 24.1 vs. 32.2 ± 18.9, p < 0001). For stigmatization and self-confidence domains, improvements from pre-PRP were significant at 3-5 months (21.2 ± 16.8 vs. 17.4 ± 12.1; p < 0.001 and 24.8 ± 17.7 vs. 20.9 ± 15.5; p < 0.001, respectively) and >6 months (18.9 ± 13.9; p < 0.001 and19.5 ± 18.6; p = 0.008, respectively). CONCLUSIONS PRP improves QoL and is an effective part of multimodal therapy for hair loss. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE IV This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Abstract
Alopecia affects perceptions of age, beauty, success, and adaptability. Hair loss can be caused by genetic, physiological, environmental, and immunologic factors. The current treatment for alopecia is varied. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates activated platelet rich plasma (A-PRP) for alopecia treatment. The objective of this review was to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of A-PRP injections in alopecia patients. We compared the safety, limitations, and outcomes of A-PRP use with those of previous research on alopecia. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Database, and Google Scholar for relevant articles. We included all primary clinical studies involving patients that evaluated A-PRP. Twenty-nine articles, which included 864 patients, met the eligibility criteria and were analyzed for qualitative review. Our review found 27 studies that indicated A-PRP was significantly effective in treating alopecia, especially for improving hair density before and after therapy (n = 184, mean difference [MD] = 46.5, I2 = 88%, 95% CI: 29.63, 63.37, P < .00001), as well as when comparison was made between treatment and control groups (n = 88, MD = 31.61, I2 = 80%, 95% CI: 6.99, 56.22, P = .01), and of terminal hair density between treatment and control groups (n = 55, MD = 26.03, I2 = 25%, 95% CI: 8.08, 43.98, P = .004); hair counts after therapy (n = 85, MD = 12.79, I2 = 83%, 95% CI: -5.53, 31.12, P = .0006); promoting hair regrowth; folliculogenesis; reducing hair loss; combining with follicular unit extraction (FUE) surgery; and initiating the hair cycle. Two studies did not report significant results. This is the first systematic review and meta-analysis of A-PRP as a treatment option for alopecia. A-PRP appears to be a promising and safe method for treating alopecia. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 4

Abstract
Both nonsurgical and surgical modalities for the treatment of hair loss are being used by providers at an increasing rate worldwide. Men and woman are affected by hair loss, but the pathophysiology of the hair loss is thought to be different between sexes; therefore, gender must play a role in treatment decisions. Currently, there are 3 Food and Drug Administration-approved nonsurgical androgenetic alopecia treatments: minoxidil, finasteride, and low-light laser therapy. Platelet-rich plasma injections are showing promise as a single modality and as an adjunct to other nonsurgical and surgical treatments of androgenetic alopecia.

Abstract
Introduction Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is defined as progressive, patterned hair loss that occurs as a result of androgen-mediated conversion of terminal hairs to vellus hairs. By the age of 60 years, 45% of men and 35% of women develop AGA. The Hamilton-Norwood scale is used to assess the extent and severity of AGA and classify the stages of male pattern hair loss in men, whereas the Ludwig scale is preferred for women. Currently, U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved treatments for AGA include oral finasteride and topical minoxidil. Due to the limited number of effective therapies for AGA, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has become an effective alternative treatment. A number of studies on PRP have shown promising results, leading to increased hair density and thickness with minimal or no side effects. Aims We aim to study the safety, efficacy, and side effects of PRP therapy in patients of AGA and to study demographic data in the form of age, sex, age of onset of hair loss, and grade of AGA in patients. Materials and Methods Fifty patients, 38 males and 12 females, with AGA were enrolled in the study. PRP was prepared using a double-spin method. Upon activation, PRP was injected in the involved areas of scalp once every 2 weeks for 6 months. Follow-up photos were taken every 3 months. Results At 6 months, majority of the patients (45%) were unsatisfied and showed no change in hair growth after PRP therapy and few patients were lost in follow-up. Adverse effects were minimal and no long-term serious adverse effects were noted. Conclusion We conclude from the results in our study that PRP therapy is not significantly effective in treatment of AGA. There is a need to develop standard protocols with regard to total length of PRP therapy and spacing between the two sessions of PRP for AGA.

Abstract
The preparation of autologous platelet and extracellular vesicle-rich plasma (PVRP) has been explored in many medical fields with the aim to benefit from its healing potential. In parallel, efforts are being invested to understand the function and dynamics of PVRP that is complex in its composition and interactions. Some clinical evidence reveals beneficial effects of PVRP, while some report that there were no effects. To optimize the preparation methods, functions and mechanisms of PVRP, its constituents should be better understood. With the intention to promote further studies of autologous therapeutic PVRP, we performed a review on some topics regarding PVRP composition, harvesting, assessment and preservation, and also on clinical experience following PVRP application in humans and animals. Besides the acknowledged actions of platelets, leukocytes and different molecules, we focus on extracellular vesicles that were found abundant in PVRP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, as well as establish an effective treatment protocol and optimal PRP preparation procedure. METHODS We searched the PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane, CNKI, and Wanfang databases from inception to October 29, 2021, using PROSPERO's International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (registration ID: CRD42022295921). RESULTS The original literature search revealed 215 reviews; after duplication removal, 89 papers were eliminated, 95 were eliminated after reading the titles and abstracts, and eventually, 28 articles were included after reading the complete text. CONCLUSIONS PRP treatment for androgenetic alopecia is effective, and we recommend the following: (1) a PRP volume of at least 0.05 ml/cm2 , preferably 0.1 ml/cm2 ; (2) at least three consecutive treatments at an interval of 1 month; (3) intensive therapy is beneficial and can be provided from 3 to 6 months after continuous treatment; (4) objective indicators such as hair diameter, hair count; (5) long-term follow-up.

Abstract
Background Hair restoration surgery is a definitive surgical procedure undertaken for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy has gained importance in recent times as a valuable adjunct to therapy in hair restoration. However, the various beneficial effects of PRP as intraoperative holding solution hair restoration surgery remain to be objectively defined. Methods Twenty cases of AGA were allocated into two groups (PRP and non-PRP). The follicular grafts harvested were stored in platelet-rich plasma/chilled ringers lactate solution depending on subject/control and were implanted in receding hairline using hair implanters. Patients were reviewed at the end of 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months using clinical and folliculoscopic images. The analysis was performed using SPSS version 20.0. Results Follicular growth as assessed using the percentage of grafts in actively growing phase posttransplant showed faster recovery from 'shock effluvium' in the PRP group when compared with the non-PRP group from Week 4, through Week 8 and 3 months with the 'lead' increases of percentage growth difference being statistically significant(P = 0.02) between the two groups. At the end of 6 months, 100% of patients recorded a hair shaft length of >10 mm in the PRP group, whereas only 20% achieved >10 mm length. The difference in hair densities between PRP and the non-PRP group from 4 weeks up to 6 months in the non PRP group remained significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Intraoperative PRP as a holding solution improves outcome in hair restoration surgery by a significant improvement in the mean density of the implanted follicular unit grafts at 6 months.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Microneedling refers to a minimally invasive technique that uses multiple fine needles targeted skin epidermis for mechanical stimulation to obtain therapeutic or cosmetic effects. It is suitable for the treatment of a variety of dermatological conditions, including androgenetic alopecia (AGA). OBJECTIVE This article aims to make a comprehensive review of the relevant studies on microneedling for the management of AGA. METHODS Extensive literature search was performed using PubMed, Web of Science, and EBSCO databases. 4 in vivo studies and 25 clinical trials were included according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. RESULTS The effects of microneedling on AGA was investigated in animal experiments. Several clinical trials, including randomized controlled trials, strengthen the validity of the findings. Microneedling therapy showed some encouraging results with minor complications when used alone or in combination with topical products. CONCLUSIONS Microneedling appears to be a safe and effective therapeutic option for AGA. Larger and more randomized controlled trials regarding the role of microneedling in AGA are strongly recommended to provide more definitive evidence. Abstract
BACKGROUND Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is a minimally invasive surgery that is becoming popular in hair restoration in cicatricial alopecia (CA). AIM Evaluation of FUE with or without platelet rich plasma (PRP) in scarring alopecia. PATIENTS AND METHODS Twenty patients with CA were randomized into two groups. Group A (10 patients) underwent FUE, group B (10 patients) underwent FUE + PRP. PRP was injected 1 week before surgery, then monthly after surgery for 3 months. Follow up was done after 3, 6 and 12 months by calculating the density of surviving follicular units and the survival rate. RESULTS In group A, there was statistically significant increase in mean survival rate which was 30.30%. At 3 months, 67.26% at 6 months and 78.15% at 12 months. In group B, there was a significant increase in mean survival rate being 30.14% at 3 months, 58.75% at 6 months and 69.74% at 12 months. There was no significant difference between both groups at anytime during follow up period. CONCLUSION Follicular unit extraction is a preferred procedure for hair restoration in CA with few side effects. The role of PRP in HT is controversial. In the present study, PRP does not significantly affect the survival rate of hair grafts.

Background
Pattern hair loss is a common disorder in female and male subjects that may benefit from the use of cell-free XoFlo (Direct Biologics, LLC, Austin, TX) therapy.
Objectives
To assess the safety, efficacy and satisfaction of a single extracellular vesicle (EV) treatment over 6 months.
Methods
A retrospective open-label study among 22 female and 9 male subjects who demonstrated early stages of alopecia or were in remission from prior medical and surgical treatments. The amount of undiluted or diluted volumes of EV solution used was determined by extent and degree of alopecia. Global photography, SGAIS and IGAIS questionnaires, and trichoscan measurements were compared at baseline and six months in three response categories.
Results
Frequent growth responses were observed: older aged females and younger aged males, shorter history of alopecia; earlier stages of hair loss; larger and undiluted volumes of XoFlo; prior positive responses to medical and surgical treatments; and absence or control of disease factors affecting hair. The benefit of micro-needling to therapy was indeterminate. Global photography, trichoscan for density, follicle diameter, terminal: vellus ratio, and SGAIS/IGAIS satisfaction questionnaires at baseline and six months were useful in assessing clinical efficacy. No significant adverse reactions were observed.
Conclusions
Intradermal injections with varying doses of EVs were safe and effective among indicated alopecic female and male subjects. Findings suggest that the presence of positive factors, absence of conditions known to negatively affect hair growth, and administration of larger volumes of XoFlo may have a significant influence on the use of this new cell-free therapy. FDA-approved biologic, multi-centered IRB/ Investigational New Drug (IND) trials are clearly required to determine its future in the management of hair loss.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Androgenic alopecia is a common genetic disorder that characterized by progressive hair follicles and hair atrophy. Despite of all available therapeutic techniques, there is low patient satisfaction rate. It seems finding new treatment options for androgenic alopecia is necessary. In the past decade Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), an autologous collection of concentrated platelets with haemostatic and tissue repairing effects has received developing attention for androgenetic alopecia treatment as a valuable therapeutic technique. METHODS In this study 8 patients suffering from resistance androgenic alopecia were enrolled. The PRP and platelet gel was prepared and a total volume of 10 cc of the combination of PRP and platelet gel was injected in the scalp androgen-related areas using 23-gauge syringe. The treatment was performed one month, and 3 months after first injection (three times). The hair pull test was done before treatment. The outcome was evaluated 3, 6 and 9 months after treatment by hair pull test, dermoscopy, photography and patient's satisfaction. RESULTS A significant reduction in hair loss was observed before and after treatment. Hair count (density) increased from average number of 72 (hair/cm2) to 210 hair/cm2). Also the hair diameter was significantly increase before and after treatment for all patients (P<0.05). After the treatment, the pull test was significantly decrease in 8 patients (P<0.05). CONCLUSION This study supports the combination therapy of PRP and platelet gel for resistance androgenic alopecia treatment. This technique is an uncomplicated, feasible and cost effective treatment option for resistance androgenic alopecia, with high patient satisfaction.

Abstract
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) was described as a small volume of plasma containing higher concentrations of platelets than those found in peripheral blood and initially used as a transfusion product for treatment of thrombocytopenia. To date, it was discovered that there are several growth factors and cytokines that can accelerate wound healing and tissue regeneration, leading to a wider range of applications in the medical field, such as in sport medicine, regenerative medicine, and aesthetic medicine. Several studies have shown that PRP can be used effectively for treatment of hair loss. Although it has been widely used, the exact mechanism of action of PRP is still not fully elucidated. In this article, we aim to review and update current information on the definition, classification, mechanism of action, clinical efficacy in hair regrowth, and adverse events of PRP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Some studies have shown that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) improves androgenetic alopecia (AGA)-while others do not. We determined whether the placebo effect significantly varies between split-scalp and whole-head trials on PRP monotherapy for AGA. Our rationale was based on the plausibility of PRP diffusing to the control (i.e., 'placebo') side of split-scalp trials. This is not possible in whole head studies. METHODS We systematically searched the literature for available data. Our choice of analyses and outcomes were determined by the available data. RESULTS Our endpoint was change in total hair density six months after baseline. Our regression showed that total hair density after six months was significantly (p<0.05) higher in the placebo arm of split-scalp trials, compared to whole-head studies, by 37 hairs/cm2 . Our one-arm meta-analyses showed that the pooled change in total hair density between the PRP side and placebo side in split scalp studies was -3 hairs/cm2 (p=0.37), that is, a slight decrease in hair density in the placebo side of the scalp. For whole head stdies the corresponding difference in total hair density between patients receiving PRP and those on placebo was -30 hairs/cm2 (p=0.000017), that is, a much larger decrease in hair density. Patients in the placebo group in whole-head trials lost significantly more hair than in the placebo side of the split-head trials where hair loss was comparatively reduced-presumably because of PRP diffusing from the treatment side of the scalp. CONCLUSIONS The association between design (i.e., split-scalp vs. whole-head) and outcome, in placebo arms of AGA trials on PRP monotherapy, had never been reported. This 'design effect' could partly reconcile the incongruent conclusions across the PRP literature for AGA; furthermore, clinical guidelines can consider 'design effect' when selecting evidence to base care practices on.

Abstract
Regenerative medicine and the role of stem cells are being studied for applications in nearly every field of medicine. The pluripotent nature of stem cells underlies their vast potential for treatment of androgenic alopecia. Several advances in recent years have heightened interest in this field, chief among them are the evolution of simpler techniques to isolate regenerative elements and stems cells. These techniques are easy, outpatient procedures with immediate injection, often single session with harvest, and minimal manipulation (usually physical). This paper seeks to critically review the existing data and determine the current evidence and their role in practice.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma is the autologous plasma containing platelet concentration more than the baseline separated after centrifugation. It has become a very popular option for the treatment of hair loss in the past few decades. Used alone or in combination with other treatment options it has found a place as a hair restoration procedure throughout the world. However, evidence supporting its credibility is quite ambiguous with contradictory reports available in the literature. In this article, we try to analyze the available data regarding its mechanism of action, preparation protocols, and classification, with regard to hair loss.

ZusammenfassungAutologes plättchenreiches Plasma wird aufgrund seiner wundheilenden Eigenschaften vielfach angewandt u. a. in Orthopädie, Chirurgie und Dermatologie. Zunehmend stellt plättchenreiches Plasma außerdem bei bestimmten Formen der Alopezie eine interessante neue Behandlungsoption dar, sei es als alleinige Therapie oder auch als Adjuvans im Rahmen einer Haartransplantation. Kontrollierte klinische Studien an kleineren Patientengruppen zeigten vielfach positive Ergebnisse, größere Studien stehen bislang noch aus. Die Wirkung auf das Haarwachstum wird sehr wahrscheinlich über die in plättchenreichem Plasma enthaltenen Wachstumsfaktoren und Zytokine vermittelt.

Abstract
Background Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has long been used for the restoration of hair in conjunction with microneedling or on its own. Fat grafting to the scalp has also been utilized in the past to improve the quality of hair and the possibility of successful hair transplant. The novel therapy reported in this case series combines the natural progression of these two techniques and utilizes synergistic effects to improve the quality of hair, either in preparation for micrografting or without hair transplant. Objectives To demonstrate the principles behind the novel approach to restoration of hair and the rationale for its use. Methods A review of the evidence for PRP and fat transfer for non-scarring alopecia serves as the foundation for the combination treatment reported herein. Through presentation of three cases in this series, we provide examples of the utility of this approach for non-scarring alopecia. This report includes a female who suffered non-scarring alopecia following COVID-19 hospitalization and intensive care stay where she lost a large percentage of her hair, in addition to two male patients suffering from androgenic alopecia. Results Platelet-rich plasma-hybridized adipose transplant hair was shown in these three cases to improve both the quality and density of hair. It improved the density of hair in all patients and was characterized first by a short period of transient hair loss followed by new hair growth which develops starting at 4 weeks and was readily apparent at 12-week follow-up. Results were maintained at 6-month and 1-year follow-up. Conclusions PHAT hair offers a combination of beneficial effects—namely the unique healing properties and growth signaling provided by PRP, along with adipocyte angiogenic and growth signaling, which both work to improve scalp quality. The combination of these effects is better than previously characterized PRP injections alone in the hands of these individual practices. This may be due to synergistic interactions at a cellular level, but additional clinical studies are needed to better understand this novel treatment and the observed effects. Abstract
Purpose Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a promising noninvasive technique for facial rejuvenation. This systematic literature review aims to appraise the nature and quality of published evidence evaluating the effectiveness and safety of PRP in facial rejuvenation. Patients and Methods A systematic literature review was conducted with the search string “Platelet-rich plasma AND Facial rejuvenation” in PubMed and Embase. Clinical studies evaluating the outcomes after PRP-based facial rejuvenation either as monotherapy or in combination with other treatment modalities were included. Studies evaluating wound-healing properties of PRP were excluded. The outcomes included both patient-reported and physician-assessed outcomes. Nonstatistical synthesis of evidence was performed by qualitative assessment. The results are reported by the Synthesis Without Meta-analysis (SWiM) reporting standard. Results A total of 36 studies that included a total of 3172 patients were considered for the evidence synthesis. The number of patients in the included studies ranging from 11 to 2005 with a median of 27.5 patients that reflects the challenges in clinically assessing the aesthetic outcomes after PRP-based facial rejuvenation. Among the 36 studies, 17 were observational studies and 18 were interventional studies with 1 being case report PRP was evaluated either alone or in combination with hyaluronic acid, lipofilling, micro-needling technique, and laser-based interventions. Among the studies, 1 study reported the enhanced platelet concentrate in a fibrin matrix to be relatively safe and effective with a maximum benefit observed at 12 weeks suggesting the platelet-rich fibrin matrix may provide desired aesthetic outcomes and it requires further studies to substantiate. Conclusion The results suggest very limited clinical evidence, and further clinical studies are warranted to establish the effectiveness of PRP in facial rejuvenation. Furthermore, a consensus for end points used for establishing clinical utility in patients requiring facial rejuvenation is warranted.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common disorder in both males and females and may be improved by platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to compare safety, efficacy, and satisfaction following treatment with a lower or higher number of platelets over 6 months. METHODS This was a prospective randomized, double-blinded, placebo, parallel-group, half-scalp IRB-approved study involving 8 subjects with moderate AGA. Participants received intradermal PRP injections (baseline and Month 3), according to 2 treatment protocols (high vs low platelet numbers) to the frontal and crown portions of the hemiscalp and normal saline to control sites. Phototrichoscans were recorded at baseline and at 6 months, and global photography and subject and investigator satisfaction questionnaires were obtained at baseline, 3, and 6 months. RESULTS At the end of 6-month evaluation period, both groups demonstrated absolute increases in total hair density, follicle diameter, and terminal hair density, as well as absolute and percentage changes at the frontal and crown targeted sites compared with baseline. These improvements tended to occur more often in areas treated with higher platelet numbers than with lower numbers. Vellus hair densities did not exhibit any significant changes with either PRP dosages. The investigator and 6 of the subjects were "satisfied" with the results at 3 months and no adverse reactions were associated with the treatments. CONCLUSIONS Intradermal injections with 2 therapeutic quantities of platelets were equally safe and efficacious for treating men and women with AGA. Higher numbers of platelets may have a greater effect than lower numbers of platelets in regard to hair density, follicle diameter, and terminal hair density but exhibited minimal effects on vellus hair densities at the 6-month evaluation point. Further studies are required to determine whether any significant advantages occur when delivering either lower or higher numbers of platelets in AGA treatments as long as therapeutic levels are administered. Abstract
BACKGROUND Female pattern hair loss is a common nonscarring alopecia that can present with several patterns of decreased hair density. The condition is very bothersome to affected women, and although there are multiple nonsurgical options, surgical follicular unit transplantation remains one of the most effective options. METHODS A retrospective chart review was performed of the senior author's (C.O.U.) experience and technique of follicular unit transplantation for treatment of female pattern hair loss. RESULTS A total of 751 patients with female pattern hair loss underwent follicular unit transplantation over the past 31 years. Average patient age was 48 years. Patients with small areas of hair loss made up 40 percent of the group (Ludwig stage I), those with medium-sized areas constituted 45 percent (Ludwig stage II), and those with large areas constituted 15 percent (Ludwig stage III). The average operative time was 3 hours 21 minutes. One hundred thirty-five patients (18 percent) underwent a second replacement, at an average period of 4 years after the procedure, because of the progressive nature of female pattern hair loss. Complications included donor-site scar widening in six patients and folliculitis in 17 patients. CONCLUSION Follicular unit transplantation is an excellent option for treatment of female pattern hair loss patients, as there is no need to shave the recipient sites, operative times are shorter than for follicular unit excision techniques, and the incidence of complications is very low. Background Platelet‐rich plasma (PRP) is a medical material with numerous applications. It produces particularly spectacular effects when applied in cosmetic dermatology. Aim To illustrate the origin of the treatment. Conclusion The therapy originates from transfusiology, where it is applied as a concentrate of platelets to treat trombocytopenia. PRP treatment is 70 years old and has an increasing number of applications. PRP holds particular promise for cosmetic dermatology.

Abstract
The field of hair transplant (HT) has grown exponentially in the past decade, especially after the introduction of follicular unit excision (FUE). There is much variation in criteria for case selection, the technique, pre- and post-procedure protocols, by different surgeons. Techniques continue to evolve and evidence in the form of controlled data is not available for all techniques and protocols being used; there is also a debate as to who can do what, what should be the training for staff, role of technicians. This has led to a situation wherein medico legal issues have cropped up as to what is minimum acceptable. An attempt is made to summarize standard protocols with the available evidence. It is emphasized that the objective of these guidelines is to recommend minimum standards for practice of hair transplantation. The principles outlined in these guidelines are of a general nature only, minimal in their level and are not meant to cover all situations. It should be understood that these recommendations are by no means binding and universal, represent minimum standards only and as in all surgical techniques, variations in techniques are possible. It is also further clarified that these are based on current literature, and as science evolves, these guidelines could also change in future. Where published evidence is not available, consensus expert opinion is presented. The task force emphasizes that each patient has to be treated on his/her own merit and that these guidelines do not limit the physician from making an appropriate choice or the necessary innovation for a given patient. The task force recognizes that the treating surgeon is best suited to decide what is needed for a given patient in a given situation. Innovations in medicine need flexibility in approach and these guidelines do not limit the surgeon from undertaking innovative research.

Abstract
Alopecia areata (AA) is a chronic, relapsing, autoimmune disorder characterized by patchy nonscaring hair loss. Although the pathogenesis of alopecia areata is not yet completely elucidated, loss of immune privilege in anagen stage hair follicles is widely accepted to play a key role. Several cytokines that depend on Janus kinase signaling have been identified to be involved in AA, including interleukin (IL)-2, IL-7, IL-15, IL-21, and interferon-γ, making Janus kinase inhibitors an attractive therapeutic target. Available information indicates that about 70% of patients with AA experience significant regrowth, but interruption of treatment is associated with disease recurrence.

Abstract
Significant androgenetic hair loss occurs in men older than 50 years, and in women it occurs in many who are perimenopausal, menopausal, and postmenopausal. By age 60 years, it is estimated that 80% of women experience hair loss. Other nonandrogenetic forms of hair loss occur due to various dermatologic disorders as well as systemic disorders. Children may also experience significant hair loss, often due to genetic abnormalities and incidences of trauma. In this article the author discusses a combination approach to hair loss for men, women, and children.

Abstract
Current medicinal therapies for treating hair loss have shortcomes due to variability and ineffectiveness, noncompliance, and adverse effects. The prevalence of hair loss and its associated negative psychological impact have driven research into regenerative medicine approaches, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and cell-based therapies, in an attempt to find alternative, safe, effective, and reproducible treatments. Current research shows promising results from these therapies; however, more robust trials are needed to confirm the reported efficacies of PRP and cell-based therapies. Moreover, standardization of treatment preparation as well as dose and regimen are needed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The use of platelet-rich plasma has emerged as one of the most desired nonsurgical treatments for facial rejuvenation and hair restoration. It has grown to encompass a wide variety of applications within the field of plastic surgery, including its use in combination with microneedling, laser, and fat-grafting procedures. METHODS In this article, the authors aim to (1) describe the preparation process of platelet-rich plasma; (2) discuss the proposed science behind platelet-rich plasma with regard to its evolving role in hair restoration and facial rejuvenation; and (3) highlight the recent literature examining its widespread use. RESULTS Based on the available literature, there is a therapeutic advantage to the use of platelet-rich plasma as a single treatment modality for alopecia and skin rejuvenation and in combination with laser skin treatment and fat grafting. There is, however, a considerable amount of variability in the processing, preparation, and treatment modalities. CONCLUSIONS Despite a lack of standardized protocols for platelet-rich plasma preparation and a scarcity of large-scale studies with long-term follow-up, there is convincing evidence with objective measurement modalities that display positive outcomes after treatment for skin rejuvenation, hair regrowth, wound healing, and fat graft take.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Facial hair transplantation has become an increasingly popular modality to create a more masculine appearance for transmasculine patients. OBJECTIVES This aim of this study was to review the current literature regarding facial hair transplantation and provide recommendations and best practices for transgender patients. METHODS A comprehensive literature search of the PubMed, MEDLINE, and Embase databases was conducted for studies published through April 2020 for publications discussing facial hair transplant in transmasculine patients, in addition to the nontransgender population. Data extracted include patient demographics, techniques, outcomes, complications, and patient satisfaction. RESULTS We identified 2 articles discussing facial hair transplantation in transmasculine patients. Due to the paucity of publications describing facial hair transplantation in transmasculine patients, data regarding facial hair transplant from the cisgender population were utilized to augment our review and recommendations. CONCLUSIONS Facial hair transplant is a safe and effective means of promoting a masculine appearance for transgender patients. Nevertheless, facial hair transplantation should be deferred until at least 1 year after the initiation of testosterone therapy to allow surgeons to more accurately identify regions that would benefit the most from transplantation. Additionally, providers should engage patients in discussions about any plans to undergo facial masculinization surgery because this can alter the position of transplanted hairs. Currently, follicular unit extraction from the occipital scalp is the preferred technique, with use of the temporal scalp if additional grafts are needed. Patients should be advised that a secondary grafting procedure may be needed a year after initial transplant to achieve desired density. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 4

Abstract
Introduction Male pattern alopecia (MPA) is a common disorder hugely impacting the quality of life of affected individuals. The meager number of options available for treatment has their own limitations. Novel therapies are continuously being researched for. Materials and Methods The present study included thirty male patients with Hamilton Grade II to Grade V. All patients received four sequential treatments with microneedling (MN) on one half of the scalp and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with MN (MN + PRP) on the other half for 4 months. Three months following the last session, evaluation was done from the vertex and temporal sites in both the groups by dermoscopic microphotographs by a blinded evaluator. In addition, the patients were asked about their satisfaction score on the basis of treatment outcome. Results Overall hair thickness showed significant increase in both MN and MN + PRP group. Furthermore, the increase in thickness was almost double in the MN group as compared to MN + PRP group (0.006 and 0.003 mm, respectively). Overall hair density also increased significantly in both the study groups but more in MN + PRP group (14.6 hair/cm2) than the MN group (10.8 hair/cm2). However, the difference between the results of both the groups was not statistically significant. Conclusion To the best of our knowledge, this is the first split scalp study for MPA. We conclude that MN and PRP are both effective in treatment of androgenetic alopecia and improve the hair parameters and patient satisfaction. However, no additional effect of PRP over MN was observed. Both these therapies are safe and well tolerated without any major side effects. Limitations of our study were small sample size and lack of long-term follow-up.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is effective in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). AIMS The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of PRP on the proliferation of human follicle dermal papilla cells (HFDPCs), to observe the effect of PRP on the growth of hair follicles and hair shaft in vitro, to measure growth factors, and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of PRP injection. PATIENTS/METHODS The effect of PRP on the proliferation of HFDPCs was observed. The length of hair follicle and hair shaft in vitro was measured. Then, the concentration of growth factors (EGF, FGF-2, FGF-7, IGF-1, HGF, PDGF-BB, and VEGF-A) was evaluated. Half-head injection of PRP was conducted to 10 males. Three treatments were conducted at 30-day intervals. Digital photographs were taken; hair diameter, hair density, unit density of hair follicles, and terminal hair/ vellus hair were analyzed. RESULTS Platelet-rich plasma significantly promoted the proliferation of HFDPCs. Under the PRP culture, the hair follicle and hair shaft were grown, and the hair growth length on the 3rd and 6th days was greater than that of the control. PRP contained growth factors such as EGF, FGF-2, FGF-7, IGF-1, HGF, PDGF-B, and VEGF-A. Hair diameter, hair density, and unit hair follicle density on the PRP injection side peaked in the 6th month. The terminal hair/ vellus hair of the PRP injection side reached a peak in the 4th month. The average patient satisfaction during the entire treatment was 5.4 points (0-10 points). CONCLUSION Platelet-rich plasma can promote hair growth. PRP injection is safe and effective for the treatment of AGA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) shows promise as an androgenetic alopecia (AGA) treatment. OBJECTIVE To conduct a randomized placebo-controlled split-scalp study to investigate the effects of PRP on hair regrowth and thickness. METHODS Two 7.6-cm × 7.6-cm squares were tattooed on the scalps of 35 study participants with AGA. Areas were randomly assigned to intradermal injection with PRP or saline. Participants received 3 monthly treatment sessions with evaluation 3 months after the final treatment. RESULTS Hair density in the PRP-treated area was significantly increased compared with baseline at all visits. At the final assessment, hair density in PRP-treated areas increased from 151 ± 39.82 hairs/cm2 at baseline to 170.96 ± 37.14 hairs/cm2, a mean increase of approximately 20 hairs/cm2 (P < .05). However, hair density in placebo-treated areas also increased from 151.04 ± 41.99 hairs/cm2 to 166.72 ± 37.13 hairs/cm2 (P < .05). There was no significant difference in hair density change between the 2 groups (P > .05). No serious adverse events were reported. LIMITATIONS Possible PRP diffusion due to split-scalp study design as well as microinjections causing microinjury to both sides. CONCLUSION PRP may have benefit in increasing hair density.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous blood product, obtained after blood centrifugation. PRP is rich in growth factors which promote tissue-healing, alter angiogenesis, and possess versatile immunomodulatory effects, in the relative absence of any significant demonstrable adverse effects. Consequently, PRP has found application in multiple specialities in recent years, including dermatology. A literature search was performed on PubMed, Medline database, and Google Scholar, using keywords like platelet-rich plasma (PRP), platelet-concentrated plasma, platelet-rich growth factors, autologous platelet concentrate. Relevant studies were selected, and data was analyzed following extraction. Studies show that PRP has not only been used as an adjunctive modality but has been employed as a stand-alone therapy as well. Multiple authors have reported PRP to be efficacious in disparate dermatological conditions, like alopecia, skin rejuvenation, healing of refractory cutaneous ulcers, and even acne scar management. The strongest evidence so far has been demonstrated in androgenetic alopecia and facial skin rejuvenation. However, routine use in dermatological conditions is hampered by the relative paucity of high-quality evidence and large randomized studies. Furthermore, PRP composition and preparation methods are not yet standardized and even the treatment regimens proposed too vary widely. The present review provides a bird's eye view of the evidence available so far regarding the use of PRP in dermatology. The review focusses more on recent prospective studies, including randomized trials and tries to summarize the evidence in a brief, but comprehensive manner.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy has been considered as a promising treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The aim of the study was comparative evaluation of the clinical efficacy of PRP-therapy, minoxidil, and their combination in the treatment of men with AGA and to evaluate the effects of PRP on the proliferation of hair follicle (HF) cells in skin biopsy. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study involved 69 men who were divided into 3 groups who received PRP therapy, minoxidil, and their combination. The clinical efficacy of the therapy was evaluated by the dynamics of morphometric of hairs. To assess cell proliferation antibodies to β-catenin, CD34, Ki67, and to Dkk-1 were used. RESULTS PRP treatment was more effective than minoxidil therapy (p = 0.005). Complex therapy turned out to be more effective than minoxidil monotherapy (p < 0.0001) and PRP monotherapy (p = 0.007). After applying PRP the absolute and relative values of the β-catenin and CD34 expression area increased; an increase in Ki67+ index was also significant. CONCLUSIONS PRP can be considered as a treatment option for AGA. Combined PRP and minoxidil use seems promising for the treatment of AGA. PRP increase in the proliferative activity of HF cells and improves hair morphology in patients with AGA.

Background: Hair transplantation is the only method available to regrow new hairs; hence, enhancing the results of this procedure using state-of-the-art methods has become mandatory in clinical practice. Recent studies have suggested that significant improvements in hair density and stimulation of hair growth occur when follicular units are pretreated with platelet plasma growth factors before implantation. This study aimed to investigate and compare the outcomes of this procedure using platelet-rich plasma (PRP)–preserved hair grafts and saline-preserved hair grafts. Methods: This is a randomized controlled study. The study included 27 men and 3 women aged 22–51 years. Clinical examination (general and local) and preoperative marking were performed in these patients. The surgical technique involved graft extraction, PRP preparation, and hair implantation. Postsurgical patient satisfaction and clinical improvement were evaluated. Results: There were significant differences between the groups in hair uptake and hair thickness after 1 year follow-up, with P value <0.05. Using PRP therapy with follicular unit extraction increases the success of follicular unit extraction hair transplantation. All participants in the PRP group had >75% hair regrowth after 6 months. They had more rapid improvements in hair density and skin recovery than those in the non-PRP group. Conclusion: Preserving hair grafts in PRP before implantation increases the hair density, the graft uptake, and the hair thickness compared with pretreatment preservation of hair grafts in saline.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an increasingly popular treatment modality for various dermatologic conditions, but there are limitations in both the published literature and clinician knowledge. OBJECTIVE To create a high-yield, in-depth analysis of PRP in procedural dermatology by reviewing available data on its role in hair restoration, soft-tissue remodeling, resurfacing, and rejuvenation; identifying practice gaps and controversies; and making suggestions for future research that will establish dermatologists as pioneers of regenerative medicine. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 2-part systematic review and expert analysis of publications before October 2018. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION Most studies on PRP report favorable outcomes with the strongest level of evidence existing for androgenetic alopecia followed by postprocedure wound healing, scar revision, striae, rejuvenation, and dermal filling. There is a dearth of large randomized controlled trials, considerable heterogeneity in the variables studied, and lack of specificity in the preparatory protocols, which may influence clinical outcomes. Future investigations should use consistent nomenclature, find ideal solution parameters for each cutaneous indication, determine significant outcome metrics, and follow double-blinded, randomized, controlled methodologies. Addressing these deficiencies will take sound scientific inquiry but ultimately has the potential to benefit the authors' specialty greatly.

Abstract
In spite of several modalities for androgenic alopecia therapy used such as topical minoxidil solution or oral finasteride; it still has a great challenge. This study evaluated the effect of platelet-rich plasma in androgenic alopecia treatment regarding improvement percentage as well as the rate of adverse. Fifty patients complaining of androgenic alopecia were evaluated by Micro Viewer dermoscopy, analyzed by Compare view software and treated four times at one month interval with platelet-rich plasma injection. At every visit patient evaluation and satisfaction was completed, their age ranges from 18-40 years with a mean ± SD of 25.96 ± 5.99 years, the duration of hair loss ranges from 1-15 years with a mean ± SD of 4.58 ± 3.38 years. The mean Compare view software parameters showed a statistically significant increased from 261.47 ± 39.79 to 312.03 ± 48.61 for hair density, 0.64 ± 0.13 to 0.76 ± 0.16 for hair width and 2.25 ± 1.38 to 3.56 ± 2.71 for terminal/Vellus ratio (p < 0.05), additionally a high overall patient satisfaction in the absence of adverse effects. The present study indicates that APRP is a good tool for androgenic alopecia treatment in the absence of adverse effects.

Abstract
The concept and description of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) started in the field of hematology and is being extensively used in other fields of medicine. Interest in the application of PRP has been increasing in dermatology, such as in tissue regeneration, wound healing, scar revision, skin-rejuvenating effects, and alopecia. PRP is an autologous blood product containing high concentrations of platelets in a small volume of plasma. Different preparations of PRP may lead to different volumes of PRP, platelet concentration, and presence or absence of leukocytes. PRP is being used as a new therapy for some types of non-cicatricial alopecia such as androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and alopecia areata (AA) and, recently, new insights refer to the possibility of action in the field of cicatricial alopecia, like lichen planopillaris (LPP) and frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA). This article aims to identify the major indications for the application of PRP in the field of hair disorders, including non-cicatricial and cicatricial alopecia.
