Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess the impact of time from diagnosis to treatment on the survival outcomes of patients with nonmetastatic anal squamous cell carcinoma, controlling for other clinicopathological features. METHODS Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results research plus database was accessed, and patients with nonmetastatic anal squamous cell carcinoma were reviewed. Factors associated with longer time to treatment were evaluated through multivariable logistic regression analysis. Kaplan-Meier survival estimates were used to examine survival differences according to time to treatment (≤2 vs. >2 mo), and multivariable Cox regression analysis was used to examine factors associated with worse overall and cancer-specific survival. RESULTS A total of 13,032 patients were considered eligible and they were included in this study. The following factors were associated with longer time to treatment (>2 mo): male sex (odds ratio [OR]: 1.503; 95% CI, 1.292 to 1.749), and non-White race (OR for Black vs. White patients: 1.846; 95% CI, 1.488 to 2.290; OR for American Indian vs. White patients: 2.414; 95% CI, 1.197 to 4.872; OR for Asian-Pacific Islanders vs. White patients: 2.182; 95% CI, 1.440 to 3.309). Using Kaplan-Meier survival estimates, longer time to treatment was associated with worse overall survival (median OS for >2 mo=109 mo; for ≤2 mo=164 mo P <0.0001). Using multivariable Cox regression analysis, the following factors were associated with worse overall survival: older age (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.037; 95% CI, 1.034 to 1.039), male sex (HR: 1.650; 95% CI, 1.548 to 1.758), Black race (HR: 1.341; 95% CI, 1.210 to 1.487), advanced stage (HR for regional vs. localized stage: 1.596; 95% CI, 1.500 to 1.698), and longer time to treatment (HR: 1.385; 95% CI, 1.222 to 1.571). CONCLUSIONS Time from diagnosis to treatment longer than 2 months is associated with worse survival outcomes among patients with nonmetastatic anal squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract
Simple Summary Tumors of colon and rectum other than adenocarcinomas represent a neglected issue from clinical and laboratory points of view because of their rarity. In this review, we summarize and describe the rare histologic entities occurring in colon and rectum. Clinical and pathologic characteristics, prognostic behavior, treatments, and altered genes are reported to provide readers with a paramount and comparative perspective. In relation to this, we propose that improvements in registries and multidisciplinary research are warranted to ameliorate their management. Abstract The most frequent form of colorectal cancer is represented by adenocarcinoma being about 98% of tumor histological types. However, other rare histotypes can be found in colon and rectum (adenosquamous, goblet cell adenocarcinoma, lymphoma, medullary carcinoma, melanoma, mesenchymal, neuroendocrine, plasmacytoma, signet ring, squamous tumors). Altogether, these forms account for less than 2% of colorectal tumors. There are no specific diagnostic or therapeutic recommended approaches and most of the information available from literature derives from small and retrospective clinical series. In the present study, we provide a paramount and updated view on clinical and biologic characteristics of rare colorectal tumors.

Abstract
Background Anal squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC) is the main subtype of anal cancer and has great heterogeneity in prognosis. We aimed to construct a nomogram for predicting their 1‐, 3‐, and 5‐year overall survival (OS) rates. Methods Patients with ASCC, enrolled between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2017, were identified from the SEER database. They were divided into a training group and a validation group in a ratio of 7:3. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses were used to identify the prognostic factors for OS. Then a prognostic nomogram was established and validated by Harrell consistency index (C‐index), area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, calibration plots, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Results We identified 761 patients in training group and 326 patients in validation group. Four prognostic factors including age, sex, AJCC stage, and radiotherapy were identified and integrated to construct a prognostic nomogram. The C‐index and AUC values proved the model's effectiveness and calibration plots manifested its excellent discrimination. Furthermore, in comparison to the AJCC stage, the C‐index, AUC, and DCA proved the nomogram to be of good predictive value. Finally, we constructed a risk stratification model for dividing patients into low‐risk, medium‐risk, and high‐risk groups, and there were obvious differences in OS. Conclusions A prognostic nomogram was firstly established for predicting the survival probability of ASCC patients and helping clinicians improve their risk management.
