Abstract
INTRODUCTION Following a traumatic brain injury (TBI), meal preparation may become challenging as it involves multiple cognitive abilities and sub-tasks. To support this population, the Cognitive Orthosis for coOKing (COOK) was developed in partnership with an alternative residential resource for people with severe TBI. However, little is known about the usability of this technology to support people with TBI living in their own homes. METHODS A usability study was conducted using a mixed-methods single-case design with a 35-year-old man with severe TBI living alone at home. The number of assistances provided, time taken and the percentage of unnecessary actions during a meal preparation task were documented nine times to explore the usability of COOK. Interviews were also conducted with the participant to document his satisfaction with COOK. Potential benefits were explored via the number of meals prepared per week. RESULTS The usability of COOK was shown to be promising as the technology helped the participant prepare complex meals, while also reducing the number of assistances needed and the percentage of unnecessary actions. However, several technical issues and contextual factors influenced the efficiency and the participant's satisfaction with COOK. Despite improving his self-confidence, COOK did not help the participant prepare more meals over time. CONCLUSION This study showed that COOK was easy to use and promising, despite technical and configuration issues. Results suggest the importance of further technological developments to improve COOK's usability and fit with the needs of people with TBI living in their own homes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Caring for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) during the transition from hospital to home can be psychologically challenging to caregivers. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a novel mobile health (m-health) transitional care intervention to reduce stress and burden of caregivers of patients with TBI and to reduce readmissions. METHODS A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 74 caregivers of adult patients with moderate or severe TBI admitted to a referral hospital in Indonesia. An m-health application for Android mobile phones was designed including education and information for caregivers. The application included an online chat feature with weekly monitoring. The m-health transitional care intervention also included face-to-face education before hospital discharge. Primary outcomes were caregivers' stress and burden. Outcomes were measured at 3 time points: at hospital discharge, 2 weeks postdischarge, and 4 weeks postdischarge. Random Allocation Software was used for randomization of study participants. RESULTS Final analysis included data of 37 caregivers in the intervention group and 37 caregivers in the control group. Stress within the intervention group decreased over time (P < 0.001, mean difference = 11.05). Between both groups, stress was significantly different at 2 weeks and 4 weeks postdischarge (P < 0.001). Caregiver burden showed similar results (2 weeks postdischarge P < 0.001 and 4 weeks postdischarge P < 0.001). Only 1 patient in the control group was readmitted to the hospital. CONCLUSIONS The m-health transitional care intervention reduced stress and burden of caregivers of patients with moderate or severe TBI. Nurses should consider using m-health technologies to support caregivers in the transition from the hospital into the community.

Abstract
The implementation of technology in healthcare shows promising results and provides new opportunities in rehabilitation. However, the adoption of technology into daily care is largely dependent on the acceptance rate of end-users. This study aims to gather information from healthcare professionals on the development of new assistive technology that match users' needs using the Comprehensive Assistive Technology model. In total 27 healthcare professionals (12 occupational therapists, 8 physiotherapists, 3 nurses, 2 allied health directors, a physician and a speech therapist) attended one of four online focus group discussions. These focus group discussions were structured using a question guide based on three predefined scenarios. Recordings were transcribed and data was analyzed using a thematic analysis (NVivo). Major themes identified in this study were safety, price and usability. Healthcare professionals focused on both functional capabilities of the user, as well as behavioral aspects of usability and attitude toward technology. Furthermore, the need for assistive technology that were catered toward the limitations in activity and user experience, was highlighted extensively. Based on information gathered from healthcare professionals a user-centered approach in development of safe, low-cost devices that maximize both functional outcomes and user acceptance, could potentially increase the adoption of new technology in rehabilitation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of implementing an assistive technology for meal preparation called COOK within a supported community residence for a person with an acquired brain injury. METHODS Using a mixed-methods approach, a multiple baseline single-case experimental design and a descriptive qualitative study were conducted. The participant was a 47-year-old woman with cognitive impairments following a severe stroke. She received 21 sessions of training on using COOK within a shared kitchen space. During meal preparation, independence and safety were evaluated using three target behaviours: required assistance, task performance errors, and appropriate responses to safety issues, which were compared with an untrained control task, making a budget. Benefits, barriers, and facilitators were assessed via three individual interviews with the client and three focus groups with the care team. RESULTS Both quantitative and qualitative analyses showed that COOK significantly increased independence and safety during meal preparation but not in the control task. Stakeholders suggested that the availability of a training toolkit to a greater number of therapists at the residence and installation of COOK within the client's apartment would help with successful adoption of this technology. CONCLUSION COOK is a promising assistive technology for individuals with cognitive deficits who live in supported community residences.Implication For RehabilitationCOOK is a promising assistive technology for cognition to increase independence and safety in meal preparation for clients with ABI within their supported living contexts.Receiving training from an expert and the availability of technical support are imperative to the successful adoption of COOK.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Individuals who have acquired communication disorders often struggle to transfer the skills they learn during therapy sessions to real-life situations. Immersive virtual reality (VR) technology has the potential to create realistic communication environments that can be used both in clinical settings and for practice at home by individuals with communication disorders. OBJECTIVE This research aims to enhance our understanding of the acceptance, usefulness, and usability of a VR application (SIM:Kitchen), designed for communication rehabilitation. Additionally, this research aims to identify the perceived barriers and benefits of using VR technology from the perspective of individuals with acquired communication disorders. METHODS Semistructured interviews and usability surveys were conducted with 10 individuals with acquired neurogenic communication disorders aged 46-81 (mean 58, SD 9.57) years after trialing an immersive VR application. The audio-recorded interviews were transcribed and analyzed to identify themes. RESULTS The quantitative data regarding the usability of the system associated with participants' immersion experience in the VR application were promising. Findings from semistructured interviews are discussed across five key thematic areas including (1) participant's attitude toward VR, (2) perceived usefulness of the VR system, (3) perceived ease of use of the VR system, (4) their willingness to continue using VR, and (5) the factors they perceived as challenges or facilitators to adopting this VR technology. CONCLUSIONS Overall, participants in this study found the VR experience to be enjoyable and were impressed by the realism of the VR application designed for communication rehabilitation. This study highlighted personally relevant, immersive VR interventions with different levels of task difficulty that could enhance technology uptake in the context of communication rehabilitation. However, it is essential that VR hand controller technology is refined to be more naturalistic in movement and able to accommodate user capabilities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The rise in assistive technology (AT) solutions to support people with an acquired brain injury (ABI) has warranted clinicians to build capability in assisting clients to select goal-centred AT. The study explored, amongst ABI clinicians, (a) capability, attitudes, and barriers with AT implementation, (b) age-related differences in technology self-efficacy and capability (c) strategies to support AT use in rehabilitation and (d) thematic analysis of AT-related experiences. METHOD Mixed methods design. Online survey circulated to ABI clinicians across New South Wales, Australia, comprising purpose-designed items as well as the Modified Computer Self-Efficacy Scale (MCSES; range 0-100). RESULTS Clinicians (n = 123) were evenly distributed across decadal age groups. The majority were female (90%, n = 111) and one-third were occupational therapists.Clinicians scored strongly on the MCSES (Mdn = 76, IQR = 19), with younger age groups significantly associated with higher scores (H[3] = 9.667, p = .022). Most clinicians (92%) were knowledgeable of mainstream technology for personal use, but over half (65%) reported insufficient knowledge of suitable AT for clients. Clinicians reported positive attitudes towards AT, however, time to research and develop proficiency with a range of AT was the primary barrier (81%).Thematic analysis suggested that whilst the ideal AT experience is client-motivated requiring multidisciplinary guidance, the clinician role and experience with AT is evolving, influenced by rapid technological advancement and extrinsic opportunities to access AT. CONCLUSIONS Whilst clinicians have positive attitudes towards AT, there is a gap in clinician implementation. There is need to support further resources to build clinician capability and access to AT.

Abstract Rapid technology advances have led to diverse assistive technology (AT) options for use in memory rehabilitation after traumatic brain injury (TBI). This systematic review aimed to evaluate the efficacy of electronic AT for supporting phases of memory in daily life after TBI. A secondary aim was to examine user perspectives on the utility of AT and factors influencing uptake or use. A systematic search of PsycINFO, MEDLINE, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Excerpta Medica database (Embase), Scopus, and Cochrane Library was conducted from database inception to June 13, 2022, to identify eligible studies. Methodological quality was assessed by two independent reviewers. Nineteen eligible articles involving a total of 311 participants included four randomized controlled trials (RCTs; Class I), five single-case experimental designs (Class II), and 10 pre-post group (n > 10) or single-case studies without experimental control (Class III). Three Class I studies, two Class II studies and eight Class III studies supported the efficacy of AT for supporting memory functioning. Treatment fidelity was not examined in any study. There was the most empirical support for the efficacy of AT for facilitating retrieval and execution phases of memory (i.e., supported by 6/9 studies) with external support to encode memory intentions or pre-programmed reminders. Further controlled studies are needed to determine whether outcomes vary according to individuals' level of independence with use (e.g., self-initiated vs. pre-programmed reminders) and to examine user characteristics and design features influencing uptake and effectiveness. Greater involvement of end-users with brain injury in the design and evaluation of AT features is also recommended to enhance usability and uptake in daily life.

Abstract
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) leads to cognitive linguistic deficits that significantly impact on quality of life and well-being. Digital health offers timely access to specialized services; however, there are few synthesized reviews in this field. This review evaluates and synthesizes reports of digital health interventions in TBI rehabilitation and caregiver education. Systematic searches of nine databases (PsycINFO, MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, speechBITE, and PsycBITE) were conducted from database inception to February 2022. Studies were included of interventions where the primary treatment focus (> 50%) was on improving communication, social, psychological or cognitive skills of people with TBI and/or communication partners. Data on participants, characteristics of the interventions, outcome measures and findings were collected. Risk of bias was accounted for through methodological quality assessments (PEDro-P and PEDro+, Risk of Bias in N-of-1 Trials) and intervention description. Qualitative data was analyzed using thematic synthesis. Forty-four articles met eligibility criteria: 20 randomized controlled trials, three single-case experimental designs, six non-randomized controlled trials, nine case series studies, and two case studies. Studies comprised 3666 people with TBI and 213 carers. Methodological quality was varied and intervention description was poor. Most interventions were delivered via a single digital modality (e.g., telephone), with few using a combination of modalities. Five interventions used co-design with key stakeholders. Digital health interventions for people with TBI and their caregivers are feasible and all studies reported positive outcomes; however, few included blind assessors. Improved methodological rigor, clearly described intervention characteristics and consistent outcome measurement is recommended. Further research is needed regarding multi-modal digital health interventions.

Abstract
This study aimed to compare the efficacy of three skills training methods (Trial and error TEL; systematic instruction SI; and error-based learning EBL) for training the use of a smartphone reminder app in individuals with an acquired brain injury. Participants (N = 38, Mage = 61.21 years, 71.1% stroke) were randomly allocated to one of three training conditions and trained over one two-hour session. Proficiency of performance with the trained app (primary outcome) was assessed immediately post-training, one- and six-weeks post-intervention. Secondary outcomes included generalization of skills, error commission, smartphone use frequency and confidence, and subjective memory complaints. Proficiency with the trained app after TEL was higher than SI immediately after the training (d = 0.87) and EBL at the one-week follow-up (d = 0.98). No differences were found six-weeks post-training. Smartphone use confidence increased at the six-week follow-up after TEL (d = 1.12) and EBL training (d = 0.91) but not after SI (d = 0.26). Self-reported memory complaints decreased across time for all groups (ηp2 = 0.30). There was no clearly superior training method for optimizing proficiency with the reminder app. The expected benefits of SI and EBL may not have emerged due to the single-session format of the training. However, smartphone training via TEL or EBL has the potential to address confidence-related barriers to smartphone use.

Abstract
PURPOSE Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) often advise adult patients to complete at-home programs in order to improve outcomes. Despite this widespread practice, relatively little is known about treatment adherence. The purposes of this systematic review were to identify adherence strategies and adherence tracking methods used by adult populations that are commonly treated by SLPs (i.e., dysphagia, aphasia, traumatic brain injury, dysphonia, dysarthria), and to identify the efficacy of these strategies. METHOD The systematic review was conducted in accordance with A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews guidelines. A comprehensive literature search was performed in three databases (CINAHL, PubMed, and Web of Science). RESULTS Of the 679 articles found, 18 were selected for analysis. Two thirds of the included articles received the second highest rating on the 5-point JAMA Quality Rating Scheme. Interventions designed to alter treatment adherence included (most to least frequent) computer programs, portable devices/phone apps, alarm reminders, instructional DVDs, check-ins from a clinician/volunteer, and wearable device. Adherence reporting methods included (most to least frequent) self-report diaries, computer program/app-aided collection, wearable device, and clinician/volunteer observation. Of the articles that reported practice frequency, 58% found that adherence strategies improved practice frequency as compared to control. Of the articles that reported treatment outcomes, 66% found that adherence strategies were associated with improved treatment outcomes as compared to control. CONCLUSIONS The paucity of publications reviewed suggests that treatment adherence is considerably understudied in speech-language pathology. Abstract
Understanding the factors affecting the use of healthcare technologies is a crucial topic that has been extensively studied, specifically during the last decade. These factors were studied using different technology acceptance models and theories. However, a systematic review that offers extensive understanding into what affects healthcare technologies and services and covers distinctive trends in large-scale research remains lacking. Therefore, this review aims to systematically review the articles published on technology acceptance in healthcare. From a yield of 1768 studies collected, 142 empirical studies have met the eligibility criteria and were extensively analyzed. The key findings confirmed that TAM and UTAUT are the most prevailing models in explaining what affects the acceptance of various healthcare technologies through different user groups, settings, and countries. Apart from the core constructs of TAM and UTAUT, the results showed that anxiety, computer self-efficacy, innovativeness, and trust are the most influential factors affecting various healthcare technologies. The results also revealed that Taiwan and the USA are leading the research of technology acceptance in healthcare, with a remarkable increase in studies focusing on telemedicine and electronic medical records solutions. This review is believed to enhance our understanding through a number of theoretical contributions and practical implications by unveiling the full potential of technology acceptance in healthcare and opening the door for further research opportunities.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the online, self-guided, interactive Staff TBI Skill Builder training program for paraprofessional staff. DESIGN A within-subjects, nonexperimental evaluation involving 79 paraprofessionals and professionals working across a range of settings. Participants completed a pretest (T1), a posttest immediately upon program completion (T2), and follow-up (T3) 60 days after program completion. MEASURES (1) Knowledge of basic traumatic brain injury facts; (2) knowledge application; (3) self-efficacy in responding to text-based application scenarios; (4) self-report of skill utilization and effectiveness; and (5) program satisfaction (ease-of-use and usefulness). RESULTS Participants demonstrated high levels of knowledge, knowledge application, and self-efficacy at pretest. Despite the high pretest levels, participants showed significant improvements in knowledge application (d = 0.50) after using the program. Nonsignificant gains in knowledge (d = 0.13) and self-efficacy (d = 0.02) were found. The use of selected skills significantly increased from posttest to follow-up. Participants reported high program satisfaction; 99% of the participants indicated that they would recommend the program to others. CONCLUSION These results demonstrate the feasibility of providing interactive, online training for paraprofessionals serving adults with moderate-severe traumatic brain injury.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Virtual reality (VR) is increasingly being used for the assessment and treatment of impairments arising from acquired brain injuries (ABIs) due to perceived benefits over traditional methods. However, no tailored options exist for the design and implementation of VR for ABI rehabilitation and, more specifically, traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation. In addition, the evidence base lacks systematic reviews of immersive VR use for TBI rehabilitation. Recommendations for this population are important because of the many complex and diverse impairments that individuals can experience. OBJECTIVE This study aims to conduct a two-part systematic review to identify and synthesize existing recommendations for designing and implementing therapeutic VR for ABI rehabilitation, including TBI, and to identify current evidence for using immersive VR for TBI assessment and treatment and to map the degree to which this literature includes recommendations for VR design and implementation. METHODS This review was guided by PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). A comprehensive search of 11 databases and gray literature was conducted in August 2019 and repeated in June 2020. Studies were included if they met relevant search terms, were peer-reviewed, were written in English, and were published between 2009 and 2020. Studies were reviewed to determine the level of evidence and methodological quality. For the first part, qualitative data were synthesized and categorized via meta-synthesis. For the second part, findings were analyzed and synthesized descriptively owing to the heterogeneity of data extracted from the included studies. RESULTS In the first part, a total of 14 papers met the inclusion criteria. Recommendations for VR design and implementation were not specific to TBI but rather to stroke or ABI rehabilitation more broadly. The synthesis and analysis of data resulted in three key phases and nine categories of recommendations for designing and implementing VR for ABI rehabilitation. In the second part, 5 studies met the inclusion criteria. A total of 2 studies reported on VR for assessment and three for treatment. Studies were varied in terms of therapeutic targets, VR tasks, and outcome measures. VR was used to assess or treat impairments in cognition, balance, and anxiety, with positive outcomes. However, the levels of evidence, methodological quality, and inclusion of recommendations for VR design and implementation were poor. CONCLUSIONS There is limited research on the use of immersive VR for TBI rehabilitation. Few studies have been conducted, and there is limited inclusion of recommendations for therapeutic VR design and implementation. Future research in ABI rehabilitation should consider a stepwise approach to VR development, from early co-design studies with end users to larger controlled trials. A list of recommendations is offered to provide guidance and a more consistent model to advance clinical research in this area.

Abstract
PURPOSE Acquired communication disorders can result in significant barriers to everyday life activities, and commonly require long-term rehabilitation. This research aimed to investigate usability, acceptance, barriers and enablers to the use of immersive virtual reality (VR) technology for communication rehabilitation from the perspective of speech-language pathologists (SLPs). METHODS Semi-structured interviews and surveys (system usability and motion sickness) were carried out with 15 SLPs following their participation in communication activities typical of daily life, experienced within an immersive VR kitchen environment. RESULTS The system usability scores were average. In addition, motion sickness symptoms were low after interaction with the VR system. The main findings from semi-structured interviews are discussed across five main themes: (i) attitude towards the use of VR in communication rehabilitation (ii) perceived usefulness of VR (iii) perceived ease of use of VR (iv) intention to use VR, and (v) clinical adoption barriers and enablers. CONCLUSIONS Overall, participants were positive about VR and its potential applications to communication rehabilitation. This study provides a foundation to inform the design, development, and implementation of a VR system to be used in the rehabilitation of individuals with acquired communication disorders.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONVirtual Reality applications could simulate social communication situations within the clinic.VR could be used as a rehabilitation tool for communication assessment and/or outcome measure.VR requires customisation to the specific communication rehabilitation needs of the client.Participants identified barriers and enablers to adoption of VR by speech-language pathologists.

Abstract
Smartphones are useful compensatory memory aids, yet training on how to use them is seldom offered as part of rehabilitation for acquired brain injuries (ABIs). We aimed to explore the experience and acceptability of a smartphone training intervention in 26 people with ABI who participated in a pilot randomized controlled trial comparing three skills training approaches. Participants completed questionnaire ratings and a semi-structured interview, six weeks post-training. Most participants rated the training as enjoyable (80.8%) and reasonable in duration (88.5%). Others reported that more than one training session was needed to learn the app (34.6%). Five themes were identified from qualitative data through thematic analysis: (1) Attitudes and pre-existing factors, (2) Experiencing the intervention, (3) Tailoring the intervention to the individual, (4) Facilitators and barriers to implementation and (5) Enhancing smartphone use in everyday life. These themes were juxtaposed with a theoretical framework of acceptability, which indicated that some elements (e.g., having a structured session and a supportive trainer) contributed to the acceptability of the intervention by minimizing training burden and increasing self-efficacy. Tailoring the training to the individual's technological skills and lifestyle, providing post-training resources and involving family members were identified as factors that could improve intervention acceptability.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study explored difficulties in meal preparation experienced by adults with moderate to severe acquired brain injury (ABI) and available compensatory strategies from both ABI individuals' and caregivers' perspectives. Further, this study investigated their opinions on potential benefits, barriers and facilitators to the use of the Cognitive Orthosis for coOKing (COOK) in their living environment. METHODS Using a qualitative descriptive approach, semi-structured individual interviews and focus groups were carried out with adults with moderate to severe ABI (n = 20) and formal and informal caregivers (n = 13) in Ontario and Quebec, Canada. A qualitative analysis based on Miles et al.'s approach was used. RESULTS According to participants, cognitive, physical, psychosocial dysfunctions and lack of availability of supportive caregivers were the main difficulties that impede persons with ABI from engaging effectively in meal preparation tasks. Memory aids on smartphones, and caregivers' direct support were reported as the most commonly used compensatory strategies, though the latter do not provide adequate support. COOK was identified as a technology with great potential to improve independence and increase safety in meal preparation for these clients while decreasing caregiver burden. However, psychosocial issues and limited access to funding were considered as the main barriers to the use of COOK. Providing training and the availability of financial support were mentioned as the main facilitators to the use of this technology. CONCLUSIONS Findings of this study on difficulties of meal preparation following ABI and potential benefits and barriers of COOK will help improve this technology and customize it to the needs of clients with ABI and their caregivers.Implications for RehabilitationCurrent compensatory strategies are not tailored to the specific needs of clients with ABI and cannot provide sufficient support for caregivers.COOK shows a high potential for increasing independence and safety during meal preparation in a living environment for clients with ABI via a sensor-based autonomous safety system and a cognitive assistance application.COOK has the potential to decrease caregivers' burden by proving remote access to a stove/oven.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To examine the adoption of telerehabilitation services from the stakeholders' perspective and to investigate recent advances and future challenges. DATA SOURCES A systematic review of English articles indexed by PubMed, Thomson Institute of Scientific Information's Web of Science, and Elsevier's Scopus between 1998 and 2020. STUDY SELECTION The first author (N.N.) screened all titles and abstracts based on the eligibility criteria. Experimental and empirical articles such as randomized and nonrandomized controlled trials, pre-experimental studies, case studies, surveys, feasibility studies, qualitative descriptive studies, and cohort studies were all included in this review. DATA EXTRACTION The first, second, and fourth authors (N.N., W.I., B.N.) independently extracted data using data fields predefined by the third author (M.B.). The data extracted through this review included study objective, study design, purpose of telerehabilitation, telerehabilitation equipment, patient/sample, age, disease, data collection methods, theory/framework, and adoption themes. DATA SYNTHESIS A telerehabilitation adoption process model was proposed to highlight the significance of the readiness stage and to classify the primary studies. The articles were classified based on 6 adoption themes, namely users' perception, perspective, and experience; users' satisfaction; users' acceptance and adherence; TeleRehab usability; individual readiness; and users' motivation and awareness. RESULTS A total of 133 of 914 articles met the eligibility criteria. The majority of papers were randomized controlled trials (27%), followed by surveys (15%). Almost 49% of the papers examined the use of telerehabilitation technology in patients with nervous system problems, 23% examined physical disability disorders, 10% examined cardiovascular diseases, and 8% inspected pulmonary diseases. CONCLUSION Research on the adoption of telerehabilitation is still in its infancy and needs further attention from researchers working in health care, especially in resource-limited countries. Indeed, studies on the adoption of telerehabilitation are essential to minimize implementation failure, as these studies will help to inform health care personnel and clients about successful adoption strategies.

Abstract
Background Worldwide, more than 75% of people with acquired brain injury (ABI) experience communication disorders. Communication disorders are impairments in the ability to communicate effectively, that is, sending, receiving, processing, and comprehending verbal and nonverbal concepts and symbols. Such disorders may have enduring impacts on employment, social participation, and quality of life. Technology-enabled interventions such as mobile apps have the potential to increase the reach of speech-language therapy to treat communication disorders. However, ensuring that apps are evidence-based and of high quality is critical for facilitating safe and effective treatment for adults with communication disorders. Objective The aim of this review is to identify mobile apps that are currently widely available to adults with communication disorders for speech-language therapy and to assess their content and quality using the validated Mobile App Rating Scale (MARS). Methods Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and webpages were searched to identify mobile apps for speech-language therapy. Apps were included in the review if they were designed for the treatment of adult communication disorders after ABI, were in English, and were either free or for purchase. Certified speech-language pathologists used the MARS to assess the quality of the apps. Results From a total of 2680 apps identified from Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and web searches, 2.61% (70/2680) apps met the eligibility criteria for inclusion. Overall, 61% (43/70) were available for download on the iPhone Operating System (iOS) platform, 20% (14/70) on the Android platform, and 19% (13/70) on both iOS and Android platforms. A content analysis of the apps revealed 43 apps for language, 17 apps for speech, 8 apps for cognitive communication, 6 apps for voice, and 5 apps for oromotor function or numeracy. The overall MARS mean score was 3.7 out of 5, SD 0.6, ranging between 2.1 and 4.5, with functionality being the highest-scored subscale (4.3, SD 0.6), followed by aesthetics (3.8, SD 0.8), information (3.4, SD 0.6), and engagement (3.3, SD 0.6). The top 5 apps were Naming Therapy (4.6/5), Speech Flipbook Standard (4.6/5), Number Therapy (4.5/5), Answering Therapy, and Constant Therapy (4.4/5). Conclusions To our knowledge, this is the first study to systematically identify and evaluate a broad range of mobile apps for speech-language therapy for adults with communication disorders after sustaining ABI. We found a lack of interactive and engaging elements in the apps, a critical factor in sustaining self-managed speech-language therapy. More evidence-based apps with a focus on human factors, user experience, and a patient-led design approach are required to enhance effectiveness and long-term use.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Communication skills training for people with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their carers is recommended best practice. Delivery via telehealth could improve access to this training. This paper focuses on the acceptability of telehealth delivery of communication skills training. METHODS A mixed-methods investigation of acceptability of telehealth to people with TBI and their carers was incorporated into a clinical trial. Thirty-six people with TBI (23 metropolitan and 13 regional) and their carers were recruited. Metropolitan participants were randomly allocated to telehealth or in-person intervention at a 1:3 ratio. Regional participants were allocated to telehealth. Telehealth and in-person participants were compared on retention, time to complete the programme, home practice completion and therapeutic alliance ratings. Participants completed semi-structured interviews regarding their views on telehealth, which were analysed using thematic analysis. RESULTS There were no significant differences between telehealth and in-person participants in retention rate, time to complete the programme, degree of home practice completion or therapeutic alliance ratings. Three themes were identified: 'telehealth delivery opens a window for access to rehabilitation in the context of my daily life', 'in-person delivery offers rehabilitation based on natural human interaction' and 'weighing telehealth against in-person delivery'. DISCUSSION Participants found telehealth delivery acceptable, as indicated by the similarity between groups in the quantitative process measures, and as reported in interviews. Some reported a preference for in-person delivery if there had been a choice of delivery mode. Participants described characteristics of the two delivery modes which were relevant to their attitudes towards telehealth.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES There is limited research on the use of telerehabilitation platforms in service delivery for people with acquired brain injury (ABI), especially technologies that support delivery of services into the home. This qualitative study aimed to explore the perspectives of rehabilitation coordinators, individuals with ABI, and family caregivers on the usability and acceptability of videoconferencing (VC) in community-based rehabilitation. Participants' experiences and perceptions of telerehabilitation and their impressions of a particular VC system were investigated. METHODS Guided by a theory on technology acceptance, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 30 participants from a community-based ABI service, including 13 multidisciplinary rehabilitation coordinators, 9 individuals with ABI, and 8 family caregivers. During the interview, they were shown a paper prototype of a telehealth portal for VC that was available for use. Interview transcripts were coded by two researchers and analysed thematically. RESULTS The VC was used on average for 2% of client consultations. Four major themes depicted factors influencing the uptake of VC platforms; namely, the context or impetus for use, perceived benefits, potential problems and parameters around use, and balancing the service and user needs. Participants identified beneficial uses of VC in service delivery and strategies for promoting a positive user experience. CONCLUSIONS Perceptions of the usability of VC to provide services in the home were largely positive; however, consideration of use on a case-by-case basis and a trial implementation was recommended to enhance successful uptake into service delivery.
