Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Our objective was to assess baseline widefield swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (WF SSOCTA) microvascular metrics as predictors for the number of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) injections and visual acuity (VA) at 12-months follow-up in patients with retinal vein occlusion (RVO). PATIENTS AND METHODS This was a prospective study including 49 RVO eyes from 49 patients who had not received an anti-VEGF injection for at least 3 months prior to imaging. Microvascular metrics from 6×6-mm and 12×12-mm angiograms were assessed using linear regression models, adjusting for age. RESULTS Reductions in the vessel density (VD) and vessel skeletonized density (VSD) vascular metrics were associated both with a higher number of anti-VEGF injections at all follow-up time points and reduced VA 12 months after imaging in all RVO eyes. CONCLUSIONS WF SS-OCTA VD and VSD micro-vascular metrics at baseline can prognosticate VA and number of anti-VEGF injections required at 3, 6, and 12 months in RVO eyes. Abstract
We investigated the efficacy of intravitreal injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents in branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library, were searched on November 11, 2022. Studies comparing the pro-re-nata (PRN) regimen after the first treatment (PRN group) to three consecutive monthly injection regimens followed by the PRN regimen (3 + PRN group) were investigated. The primary outcomes were the change in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and the change in central retinal thickness (CRT), with the secondary outcome being the injection frequency. Among 195 reports on anti-VEGF treatment, six comparative studies were included in this meta-analysis. The two groups had no statistically significant differences in terms of BCVA or CRT. However, the total number of injections during follow-up was significantly lower in the PRN group than in the 3 + PRN group (95% CI - 2.09 to - 0.83). The as-needed injection regimen is as effective as 3-monthly loading in terms of anatomical and functional improvement for BRVO, along with a lower treatment burden for patients and physicians.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with macular edema (ME) secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO) who received at least one intravitreal injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy (VEGF) and lost to follow-up (LTFU) for more than six months were analyzed to investigate the factors contributing to the LTFU and the prognosis. METHOD This was a retrospective, single-center study to analyze the causes and prognosis of LTFU over six months in RVO-ME patients treated with intravitreal anti-VEGF injections at our institution from January 2019 to August 2022 and to collect patients' baseline characteristics along with the number of injections before LTFU, primary disease, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) before LTFU and after return visit, central macular thickness (CMT), months before LTFU and after LTFU, reasons for LTFU, and complications, to analyze the factors affecting visual outcome at a return visit. RESULTS This study included 125 patients with LTFU; 103 remained LTFU after six months, and 22 returned after LTFU. The common reason for LTFU was "no improvement in vision" (34.4%), followed by "transport inconvenience" (22.4%), 16 patients (12.8%) were unwilling to visit the clinic, 15 patients (12.0%) had already elected to seek treatment elsewhere, 12 patients (9.6%) were not seen in time due to the 2019-nCov epidemic, and 11 patients (8.8%) cannot do it due to financial reasons. The number of injections before LTFU was a risk factor for LTFU (P < 0.05). LogMAR at the initial visit (P < 0.001), CMT at the initial visit (P < 0.05), CMT before the LTFU (P < 0.001), and CMT after the return visit (P < 0.05) were influential factors for logMAR at the return visit. CONCLUSION Most RVO-ME patients were LTFU after anti-VEGF therapy. Long-term LTFU is greatly detrimental to the visual quality of patients; thus, the management of RVO-ME patients in follow-up should be considered.

Abstract
Purpose To assess the relationship between improving blood flow via arteriovenous (AV) sheathotomy without vitrectomy and the total number of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injections (VEGF) required to treat branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Methods In this prospective, clinical case series, 16 eyes of 16 patients at the Toho University Sakura Medical Center with best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of 20/40 or worse due to macular edema associated with BRVO were analyzed for 12 months. AV sheathotomy was performed without vitrectomy for all cases. On the second day after surgery, anti-VEGF was injected into the operated eye. During the 12-month follow-up after surgery, pro re nata injections were administered when changes in foveal exudation and BCVA were evident. The blood flow of the occluded vein was assessed before and after AV sheathotomy during the operation using laser speckle flowgraphy. The total number of anti-VEGF injections, central retinal thickness (CRT), and BCVA 12 months after surgery were examined. Results The changes in CRT and BCVA from baseline to month 12 were statistically significant (P < 0.01). No additional anti-VEGF injections were required for nine of 16 eyes (56.3%) during the 12 months. The total number of anti-VEGF injections for 12 months correlated with the change rate of blood flow in an occluded vein before and after AV sheathotomy (r = -2.816, P = 0.022). Conclusions and Importance Improved blood flow in occluded vein may reduce the need for anti-VEGF injections in BRVO.

Abstract
We investigated whether foveal ellipsoid zone (EZ) status affects visual prognosis in eyes with subretinal fluid (SRF) associated with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). We included 38 eyes retrospectively and classified those with or without a continuous EZ on the SRF of the central foveola on the vertical optical coherence tomography (OCT) image at the initial visit as intact (n = 26) and disruptive EZ (n = 12) groups, respectively. In addition, we classified the intact EZ eyes into clear (n = 15) and blurred (n = 11) EZ groups according to whether EZ on the SRF was observed distinctly or not. Multiple regression analyses showed that baseline EZ status significantly correlated (p = 0.0028) with the 12-months logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), indicating that baseline intact EZ significantly improves visual prognosis. The 12-months logMAR BCVA of the intact EZ group was significantly better (p < 0.001) than that of the disruptive EZ group, and did not differ significantly between the clear and blurred EZ groups. Thus, baseline foveal EZ status on vertical OCT images can be a novel biomarker for visual prognosis in eyes with SRF associated with BRVO.

Abstract
We evaluated the long-term (24-month) efficacy of a novel individualized treatment protocol with 2 mg aflibercept for treatment-naive BRVO with macular edema. Each patient received an initial aflibercept injection and was then examined every 2 weeks until recurrence of edema. At recurrence, each patient received a second injection of aflibercept. The period of efficacy was defined as the time between the first and second injections. Subsequently, each patient was examined and re-injected with aflibercept at their personalized treatment interval, which was defined as 1 week shorter than the period of efficacy. Thirty-seven eyes of 48 patients showed recurrence after the initial injection. The mean period of efficacy was 92.5 ± 40.8 days, and the mean number of visits before recurrence, 7.6 ± 2.9. The mean 24-month best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was significantly better than the mean baseline BCVA but significantly worse than the best BCVA during the period of efficacy. The mean gain of BCVA at 24 months was 0.07 ± 0.18 logMAR. The mean 24-month central macular thickness (CMT) was significantly lower than the mean baseline CMT but showed no difference from the mean best CMT (p = 0.060). The mean total number of visits during the 24 months was 15.8 ± 3.4. We conclude that the individualized treatment protocol that was based on the period of efficacy in treatment-naïve BRVO eyes with macular edema achieved satisfactory long-term visual outcome.

Abstract
Retinal occlusive diseases are common diseases that can lead to visual impairment. Retinal artery occlusion and retinal vein occlusion are included in the clinical entity, but they have quite different pathophysiologies. Retinal artery occlusion is an emergent eye disorder. Retinal artery occlusion is mainly caused by thromboembolism, which frequently occurs in conjunction with life-threatening stroke and cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, prompt examinations and interventions for systemic vascular diseases are often necessary for these patients. Retinal vein occlusion is characterized by retinal hemorrhage and ischemia, which may impair visual function via several complications such as macular edema, macular ischemia, vitreous hemorrhage, and neovascular glaucoma. Even though anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy is the current established first-line of treatment for retinal vein occlusion, several clinical studies have been performed to identify better treatment protocols and new therapeutic options. In this review, we summarize the current findings and advances in knowledge regarding retinal occlusive diseases, particularly focusing on recent studies, in order to provide an update for a better understanding of its pathogenesis.

Abstract
Intravitreal injection treatment for the management of macular edema as an expression of increased capillary permeability and leakage constitute the mainstay of treatment in retinal vein occlusion. In contrast to diabetic retinopathy or neovascular age-related macular degeneration, permanent and complete functional and morphological restoration can be achieved, as retinal vein occlusions are usually associated with risk factors, but do not represent the manifestation form of an underlying systemic or degenerative chronic disorder; however, successful long-term management of retinal vein occlusion -associated macular edema usually requires intensive and also long-term continued treatment with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors or with a less favorable side effect profile, dexamethasone. A functional treatment success can be maintained over the long term by both pro re nata (PRN) or treat and extend (T&E) regimens. In contrast, according to the currently available data, the combination of anti-VEGF administration and grid laser treatment has no additional benefit compared to monotherapy. In patients with recalcitrant macular edema, switching to another intravitreal agent may be considered during the course of treatment, although a true therapeutic benefit with respect to the development of visual acuity has not yet been proven. The current review summarizes the relevant aspects in the management of RVO-associated macular edema and provides the foundations for the application of successful treatment strategies.

Abstract
This study’s goal is to determine the accuracy of a linear classifier that predicts the prognosis of patients with macular edema (ME) due to a branch retinal vein occlusion during the maintenance phase of antivascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapy. The classifier was created using the clinical information and optical coherence tomographic (OCT) findings obtained up to the time of the first resolution of ME. In total, 66 eyes of 66 patients received an initial intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF followed by repeated injections with the pro re nata (PRN) regimen for 12 months. The patients were divided into two groups: those with and those without good vision during the PRN phase. The mean AUC of the classifier was 0.93, and the coefficients of the explanatory variables were: best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at baseline was 0.66, BCVA at first resolution of ME was 0.51, age was 0.21, the average brightness of the ellipsoid zone (EZ) was −0.12, the intactness of the external limiting membrane (ELM) was −0.14, the average brightness of the ELM was −0.17, the brightness value of EZ was −0.17, the area of the outer segments of the photoreceptors was −0.20, and the intactness of the EZ was −0.24. This algorithm predicted the prognosis over time for individual patients during the PRN phase.

Abstract
We investigated whether baseline foveal intraretinal fluid (IRF) localization affects the visual prognosis of branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Fifty eyes from 50 patients were included in this retrospective study. We classified the eyes with IRF involving and not involving the central foveola on the vertical optical coherence tomography (OCT) image at the initial visit into both-sides (n = 17) and one-side IRF (n = 33) groups, respectively. Multiple regression analyses demonstrated that not only the baseline logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) but also the IRF localization significantly correlated with the 12-month logMAR BCVA (p = 0.04 and p = 0.001, respectively), indicating that eyes with better baseline logMAR BCVA and one-side IRF have a significantly better visual prognosis in BRVO. The foveal ellipsoid zone band was significantly more disrupted (p < 0.001) in the both-sides IRF (47.1%) group than in the one-side IRF (3.0%) group. No eyes with decimal BCVA less than 0.5 were detected in the one-side IRF group at 12 months. Thus, baseline foveal IRF localization on vertical OCT images can be considered a novel biomarker for the visual prognosis of BRVO.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE OR PURPOSE Branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) causes macular edema (ME) that can be controlled with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) treatments. However, these treatments are not curative, necessitating additional anti-VEGF treatments at recurrences. Long-term results, optimal anti-VEGF treatment regimens, and the comprehensive effects of ME recurrences are largely unknown. Thus, we aimed to examine the effects of foveal thickness (FT) fluctuation (FTF) on visual and morphologic outcomes following anti-VEGF treatments for BRVO-ME administered via a pro re nata regimen. DESIGN A retrospective, observational case series SUBJECTS, PARTICIPANTS AND/OR CONTROLS: This study analyzed 309 treatment-naïve patients (309 eyes) with BRVO-ME between 2012 and 2021 at a multi-center retinal practice. METHODS, INTERVENTION, OR TESTING FT was assessed via optical coherence tomography (OCT) at each study visit. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES We evaluated the logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution best corrected visual acuity (logMAR BCVA) and the defect length of the foveal ellipsoid zone (EZ) band measured via OCT. RESULTS At baseline, the mean logMAR BCVA was 0.30±0.30 and the mean FT was 503±162 μm. The number of anti-VEGF injections for BRVO-ME was 5.8±4.6 during the mean follow-up period (50.6±22.2 months). At the final examination, the mean logMAR BCVA and FT values were significantly improved compared with the baseline. Multiple regression analyses showed that age, baseline logMAR BCVA, and FTF were significantly associated with the final logMAR BCVA (β=0.20, 0.35, and 0.30, respectively). FTF (divided into Groups 0-3 in ascending order of FTF) was significantly associated with the logMAR BCVA and the defect length of the foveal EZ band at the final examination. The defect lengths of the foveal EZ band were longitudinally shortened in Groups 0-1 and were slightly prolonged in Groups 2-3. The logMAR BCVA maintained improvements in Groups 0-1, and worsened slightly in Groups 2-3. CONCLUSIONS FTF was significantly associated with visual acuity and foveal photoreceptor status. Thus, may improve the morphologic and functional prognoses of eyes with BRVO by identifying the characteristics of eyes with a larger FTF, and consequently controlling the FTF more strictly.

Abstract
Background The use of Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) to evaluate the predictors of visual acuity-recovery in patients treated with conbercept for macular edema (ME) secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) has rarely been seen. We collected 26 CRVO-ME patients with different OCT measures at 6 months follow-up to identify the factors that are most strongly correlated with the best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) post-treatment in CRVO-ME patients treated with conbercept. Purpose To evaluate the effectiveness of intravitreal conbercept injections for the treatment of CRVO-ME and to determine the major predictors of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) post-treatment. Methods A retrospective study methodology was used. Twenty-six eyes from 26 patients with CRVO-ME were enrolled in the study. After an initial intravitreal injection of conbercept (0.5 mg/0.05 ml), monthly injections for up to 6 months were given following a 1 + PRN (pro re nata) regimen. Data collected at monthly intervals included measurements of the logMAR BCVA, central subfield thickness (CST), macular volume (MV), photoreceptor layer thickness (PLT), outer nuclear layer thickness (ONLT), and the disrupted ellipsoid zone (DEZ). The correlation between BCVA, before and after injections, and each of CST, MV, PLT, ONLT, DEZ was analyzed. Results The logMAR BCVA in months 3 and 6 post-injection was significantly improved relative to the baseline. In this same period the CST, MV, PLT, ONLT and DEZ were also significantly improved relative to the baseline. There was a negative correlation between PLT and logMAR BCVA at months 3 and 6 after treatment (r = − 0.549, P < 0.001; r = − 0.087, P < 0.001). Conclusion Intravitreal injection of conbercept is an effective treatment for CRVO-ME. With 6 months of follow-up, logMAR BCVA and CST, MV, PLT, ONLT, DEZ improved. PLT was negatively correlated with the visual function in CRVO-ME patients after conbercept treatment, which may be a predictor of vision recovery in patients with CRVO-ME.

Abstract
PURPOSE To identify the eyes with macular edema (ME) due to a branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) that have good visual acuity during the continuous anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment based on the patients' clinical information and optical coherence tomography (OCT) images by using machine learning. METHODS Sixty-six eyes of 66 patients received 1 anti-VEGF injection followed by repeated injections in the pro re nata (PRN) regimen for 12 months. The patients were divided into two groups: those with and those without good vision during the 1-year experimental period. Handcraft features were defined from the OCT images at the time of the first resolution of the ME. Variables with a significant difference between the groups were used as explanatory variables. A classifier was created with handcrafted features based on a support vector machine (SVM) that adjusted parameters for increasing maximal precision. RESULTS The age, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at the baseline, BCVA at the first resolution of the ME, integrity and reflectivity of the external limiting membrane (ELM), the ellipsoid zone (EZ), and area of the outer segments of the photoreceptors were selected as explanatory variables. The classification performance was 0.806 for accuracy, 0.768 for precision, 0.772 for recall, and 0.752 for the F-measure. CONCLUSION The use of the SVM of the patient's clinical information and OCT images can be helpful for determining the prognosis of the BCVA during continued pro re nata anti-VEGF treatment in eyes with ME associated with BRVO.

Abstract
We hypothesized the smoothness of the border between the inner nuclear layer (INL) and outer plexiform layer (OPL) associates with the frequency of macular edema (ME) recurrences secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Thirty-seven consecutive eyes with BRVO treated with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) injections at 1-year follow-up were included. We manually traced the border between the INL and OPL within the 1.5-mm vertical line from the fovea on optical coherence tomography (OCT) images at the initial visit. The jagged ratio (JR), the border length divided by the spline curve length, was calculated. We performed univariate and multivariate regression analyses, including JR, patient characteristics, number of cystoid spaces in the INL, INL area, and outer retina area. Multivariate regression analysis showed JR significantly correlates with the total number of anti-VEGF injections (P < 0.0001). Moreover, the mean JR was significantly lower in the nine eyes receiving two or fewer injections than in the 28 eyes receiving three or more injections (1.02 ± 0.01 vs. 1.13 ± 0.06, P < 0.0001). A smooth border between the INL and the OPL on OCT images at the initial visit may be a biomarker for fewer ME recurrences in eyes with BRVO.

Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the long-term (24-month) efficacy and safety of a modified treat-and-extend (mTAE) regimen of aflibercept for macular edema (ME) due to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). This was a prospective multicenter intervention study. We evaluated 50 eyes in 50 patients with ME due to BRVO enrolled between October 2016 and September 2017. The patients received intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) injections according to a mTAE regimen for 24 months. This study reports the secondary endpoints of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central subfield thickness (CST) at 24 months and compares them with previously reported primary endpoints. Compared with baseline BCVA and CST of 0.33 (0.27) and 488 (165) µm (mean (standard deviation)), respectively, BCVA and CST were significantly improved at 12 and 24 months (12 months: 0.059 (0.19) LogMAR and 299 (112) µm; 24 months: 0.034 (0.18) LogMAR and 272 (81) µm, respectively; both p < 0.0001). Over the 24-month period, the mean number of IVA injections and clinic visits was 7.4 (3.3) and 11.1 (2.0), respectively. The mTAE regimen of IVA injections for ME due to BRVO was effective for improving BCVA and reducing CST over 24 months. This regimen shows promise for reducing the number of injections and clinic visits.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS To compare the efficacy of ranibizumab (0.5 mg) with aflibercept (2 mg) in the treatment of cystoid macular oedema due to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) over 12 months. METHODS A multicentre, international, database observational study recruited 322 eyes initiating therapy in real-world practice over 5 years. The main outcome measure was mean change in EDTRS letter scores of visual acuity (VA). Secondary outcomes included anatomic outcomes, percentage of eyes with VA >6/12 (70 letters), number of injections and visits, time to first inactivity, switching or non-completion. RESULTS Generalised mixed effect models demonstrated that mean (95% CI) adjusted 12-month VA changes for ranibizumab and aflibercept were similar (+10.8 (8.2 to 13.4) vs +10.9 (8.3 to 13.5) letters, respectively, p=0.59). The mean adjusted change in central subfield thickness (CST) was greater for aflibercept than ranibizumab (-170 (-153 to -187) µm vs -147 (-130 to -164) µm, respectively, p=0.001). The overall median (Q1, Q3) of 7 (4, 8) injections and 9 (7, 11) visits was similar between treatment groups. First grading of inactivity occurred sooner with aflibercept (p=0.01). Switching was more common from ranibizumab (37 eyes, 23%) than from aflibercept (17 eyes, 11%; p=0.002). CONCLUSION Visual outcomes at 12 months in this direct comparison of ranibizumab and aflibercept for BRVO in real-world practice were generally good and similar for the 2 drugs, despite a greater effect of aflibercept on CST and time to first grading of inactivity.

Abstract
Purpose: To report 24-month results after one intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) injection followed by pro re nata (PRN) dosing for macular edema (ME) after branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO).Methods: Eyes with BRVO met the followings were included: 77 letters or less best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) (Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study [ETDRS] score) and central retinal thickness (CRT) of 250 µm or more. IVR injection was performed followed by a PRN regimen. The retreatment criteria included visual loss of five or more ETDRS letters compared with the previous visit, 250 µm or more of CRT, or presence of residual or recurrent ME including the parafoveal lesions. The primary outcome measures were the BCVA changes at month 12 and month 24 from baseline, and the secondary outcomes were changes in CRT, resolution of ME, the number of IVR injections, and changes of nonperfused areas (NPAs).Results: Twenty eyes of 20 patients (5 men, 15 women; mean age, 68.2 years) were enrolled. The mean BCVAs (ETDRS letters) at baseline, month 12, and month 24 were 62.0, 80.2, and 80.9, respectively. The mean ETDRS letters gains were 18.3 and 19.0 at month 12 and month 24, respectively. The percentages of patients with Snellen equivalent BCVAs of 20/20 or better at month 12 and month 24 were 75% and 70%, respectively. The mean CRTs at baseline, month 12, and month 24 were 480, 252, and 272 μm, respectively. Forty percent of all eyes had complete resolution of ME. The mean number of IVR injections was 8.3 times, which gradually decreased over time. The NPA change in either Zone 1 or Zone 2 was not significant during the follow-up. No adverse side effects were observed.Conclusion: IVR injection followed by a PRN regimen provided pretty good visual outcomes at month 24.

Abstract
The ZIPANGU study assessed the efficacy and safety of ranibizumab as a one loading dose + pro re nata (one + PRN) regimen with/without focal/grid laser among treatment-naïve patients suffering from macular edema (ME) following branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). ZIPANGU was a phase IV, prospective, randomized, open-label, active-controlled, 12-month, two-arm, multicenter study. Treatment-naïve patients with visual impairment (19–73 letters) caused by ME, defined as central subfield thickness (CSFT) > 300 µm, due to BRVO were randomly assigned to ranibizumab monotherapy (n = 29) or combination therapy (ranibizumab + focal/grid short-pulse laser, n = 30). The primary endpoint was the number of ranibizumab injections. Secondary endpoints were mean changes in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and CSFT, and safety. There were no statistically significant differences in the mean number of ranibizumab injections between monotherapy (4.3 injections) vs. combination (4.1 injections) therapy, or in CSFT. BCVA improvement in the monotherapy arm (22.0 letters) was better than the combination therapy arm (15.0 letters) (p = 0.035). Overall, both regimens appeared to be safe and well tolerated. One + PRN ranibizumab is safe and efficacious in treatment-naïve patients with ME secondary to BRVO. A conjunctive laser treatment did not lead to better functional outcomes or fewer ranibizumab injections.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacies of one initial intravitreal injection of aflibercept followed by a pro re nata (PRN; 1+PRN) regimen to those of three consecutive monthly injections followed by the PRN (3+PRN) regimen for diabetic macular edema (DME) with practical protocols. The medical records of 95 eyes of 71 cases that were diagnosed with DME and had received intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) injections were reviewed. Fifty-seven eyes had received IVA with the 1+PRN regimen, and 38 eyes had received IVA with the 3+PRN regimen. The best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and the central macular thickness (CMT) were measured at the baseline and at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after the IVA. The mean number of injections of the 1+PRN group was 2.9 ± 1.7, which was significantly fewer than that of the 3+PRN group at 4.6 ± 1.4 (P < 0.001). The change of the mean BCVA before and after the IVA at 12 months of the 3+PRN group was -0.14 ± 0.17 logMAR units which was significantly better than that of the 1+PRN group of -0.045 ± 0.25 logMAR units (P = 0.02). The change of the CMT before and after the IVA at 6 months of the 3+PRN group was -141.3 ± 152.4 μm which was significantly more than that of the 1+PRN group at -86.1 ± 117.8 μm (P = 0.013). Although the mean number of injections was more than that in the 1+PRN regimen, the 3+PRN regimen had better visual outcomes at 12 months. In a practical protocol, we recommend the 3+PRN regimen for patients with DME (IRB#3541).

Abstract
PURPOSE To examine angiographic risk factors for the recurrence of macular edema associated with branch retinal vein occlusion. METHODS We consecutively included 51 patients with treatment-naive branch retinal vein occlusion involving the macular area. Each eye initially received 3 monthly ranibizumab injections, with additional injections as necessary. At Month 3, we examined parafoveal vessel diameter indexes (VDI) in all sectors using optical coherence tomography angiography and determined the association with retinal thickness changes (Month 3-Month 5) and the number of ranibizumab injections during 12 months. RESULTS Parafoveal VDIs in the affected, nasal, and temporal sectors at Month 3 were significantly associated with corresponding parafoveal thickening (P = 0.020, 0.010, and <0.001, respectively), and the parafoveal VDIs in the affected and temporal sectors were significantly associated with future foveal thickening (P = 0.037, and 0.026, respectively). Moreover, the parafoveal VDI in the temporal sector showed a significant association with the total required number of ranibizumab injections (P = 0.040). CONCLUSION The parafoveal VDI may adequately represent the degree of congestion associated with branch retinal vein occlusion. Particularly, the VDI in the temporal sector may be a good predictor of future retinal thickening in the corresponding parafovea and the fovea and the number of ranibizumab injections.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the efficacy and safety of a modified treat-and-extend (mTAE) regimen of aflibercept for macular edema (ME) due to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). METHODS This prospective multicentre intervention study evaluated 50 eyes of 50 patients enrolled from October 2016 to September 2017. The patients received intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) injections on an mTAE regimen for a total of 12 months. The main outcome measures were best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central subfield thickness (CST) at 12 months. RESULTS The baseline BCVA and CST were 0.33 (0.27) and 488 (171) µm (mean (standard deviation)), respectively. The BCVA and CST were significantly improved at month 12 (0.067 (0.19) LogMAR and 295 (110) µm; both p < 0.0001, paired t-test). The mean number of clinic visits and IVA injections was 6.71 (1.41) and 4.26 (0.71), respectively. The time to first recurrence from the first injection was most frequently 3 months. CONCLUSION The mTAE regimen of IVA injections for ME due to BRVO effectively improved BCVA and reduced CST, and thus might be an effective therapy to reduce the number of injections and visits.

Abstract
Background To compare the efficacy of one initial intravitreal injection of conbercept (IVC) versus three monthly IVCs in patients with macular edema (ME) after branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Both options were followed by a pro re nata (PRN) retreatment regimen. Methods This study retrospectively investigated and followed 60 patients with acute ME secondary to BRVO for over a year. 30 subjects received one initial injection (1 + PRN group); while, 30 received three monthly injections (3 + PRN group). The functional and anatomic outcomes were assessed during each follow-up. Results The general characteristics of the 60 subjects were as follows: mean [SD] age, 57.43 [13.06] years; 33 [55%] female; 36 [60%] non-ischemic form. Both groups showed a stable gain in visual acuity (VA) with similar logMAR (mean ± SD) (1 + PRN group 0.308 ± 0.399, 3 + PRN group 0.34 ± 0.352) during the first 12 months. Additionally, both groups exhibited a significant reduction in central foveal thickness (CFT) with no statistically significant difference between them (1 + PRN group 222.1 μm ± 197.1 μm, 3 + PRN group 228.4 μm ± 200.2 μm). Both treatment groups had similar improvements in logMAR and anatomic outcomes over time. The stratified analysis showed that patients with the non-ischemic form and those with the ischemic form had similar improvements in VA (0.346 ± 0.366 VS 0.29 ± 0.39, P = 0.575) during the 12 months follow-ups. The number of injections was lower in the 1 + PRN group (4.0 ± 1.6) than in the 3 + PRN group (4.7 ± 1.3) (P = 0.068). No adverse effects or unexpected safety issues were reported in either group. Conclusions Conbercept yielded significant improvements in VA and CFT among patients with BRVO induced ME, independent of their retinal ischemia status. The results showed that the 3 + PRN regimen do not lead to better functional outcomes or lower treatment needs in clinical practice as compared to the 1 + PRN regimen.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The objective of this review and meta-analysis is to investigate the efficacy of conbercept and ranibizumab, combined with or without laser photocoagulation, in patients with macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO-ME). METHODS Several databases have been used to identify relevant publications. After screening, a meta-analysis was conducted to compare conbercept and ranibizumab with the support of RevMan 5.3 (Cochrane Library Software, Oxford, UK). RESULTS In this study, 9 randomized controlled trials and 6 retrospective trials were included with a total of 1180 patients. No significant difference was found in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) or central macular thickness (CMT) in the baseline parameters [BCVA (weighted mean difference (WMD): -0.01; 95% confidence interval CI: -0.03 to 0.01; P = .17), CMT (WMD: 20.14; 95% CI: -26.70 to 66.97; P = .40). No significant differences were found in the improvements of BCVA and adverse events (AEs) between the 2 groups after injection of loading dosage [the 1st month BCVA (WMD: -0.01; 95% CI: -0.04 to 0.02; P = .54),the 3rd month BCVA (WMD: -0.02; 95% CI: --0.05 to 0.01; P = .23), the 6th month BCVA (WMD: -0.02; 95% CI: -0.05 to 0.01; P = .27), AEs (odds ratio: 0.84; 95% CI: 0.38 to 1.84; P = .66)]. However, there were significant differences between conbercept and ranibizumab treatment in terms of CMT [1st month CMT (WMD: -11.70; 95% CI: -19.71 to -3.68; P < .01), 3rd month CMT (WMD: -10.08; 95% CI: -15.62 to -4.53; P < .01), 6th month CMT (WMD: -15.83; 95% CI: -22.88 to -8.78; P < .01)] and the number of injections (WMD, -0.36; 95% CI: -0.68 to -0.04; P = .03). CONCLUSION The current pooled evidence suggested that both therapies of intravitreal conbercept and intravitreal ranibizumab with or without laser photocoagulation are effective in vision function in RVO-ME patients, and confirmed that conbercept has advantages over ranibizumab in terms of CMT and the number of injections for treating RVO-ME. In addition, conbercept has the statistically same visual gains and safety as ranibizumab in RVO-ME patients. Longer-term follow-up surveys on the safety and effectiveness of these 2 treatment regimens are required.

Abstract
Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is one of the most prevalent causes of visual loss in the Western World. Its pathogenesis is still not completely known. Chronic macular edema and ischemia compromise the functional and anatomical status of the retina. Antivascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) injections have demonstrated better results than other previous options, including observation or laser therapy. This narrative review aims to analyze the current aspects related to these drugs.

This review assessed the real-world evidence of the management of macular oedema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). A meta-analysis of 2530 eyes from 48 real-world studies of therapies for macular oedema secondary to BRVO was conducted. Baseline characteristics, visual, anatomical and safety outcomes were recorded. The weighted mean and weighted estimates from random-effects models were calculated for visual acuity (VA) and central subfield thickness (CST) changes at 6, 12 and 24 months. Primary outcome was change in VA (logMAR letters) at 12 months. Study quality was assessed using the quality appraisal checklist for case series developed by Institute of Health Economics. The mean baseline VA for the pooled data was 54.0 (51.5, 56.5) letters and the mean baseline CST was 501.3 (483.5, 519.1) µm. The random-effects estimate for mean (95% CI) change in VA was 14.6 (12.5, 16.7) letters at 12 months (n = 1727). The random-effects estimate for mean (95% CI) change in CST was -181.7 (-230.7, -132.7) µm at 12 months (n = 1325). The quality of studies varied considerably. Ocular and systemic adverse events were discussed in 79% and 42% of treatment arms respectively, with possible under-reporting. Visual and anatomical gains achieved in the real-world for anti-VEGF therapy were not as impressive as seminal RCTs, possibly due to reduced injection frequency in the real world and differences in baseline characteristics. There is an urgent need for consensus on the minimum efficacy, treatment burden and safety data to collect to strengthen the real-world evidence base.

Abstract
PURPOSE To determine the predictive factors for recurrent macular edema due to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) during intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) monotherapy. METHODS Clinical records were retrospectively reviewed for 65 patients (mean age 66.5 years, 65 eyes) who were diagnosed with macular edema due to BRVO and treated with IVR monotherapy for 12 months at the Medical Retina Division, Department of Ophthalmology, Keio University Hospital between October 2013 and August 2017. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), fundus findings, and sectional optical coherence tomography (OCT) images were analyzed. RESULTS Overall BCVA and central retinal thickness (CRT) improved (all p < 0.01). BCVA at 12 months was significantly worse in patients with recurrent macular edema (40 eyes [61.5%]) (p < 0.01) than in those without, while CRT decreased and was comparable in both groups at 12 months. Logistic regression analyses showed association of recurrence with disorganization of the retinal inner layer (DRIL) temporal to the fovea at baseline (odds ratio = 7.74; 95% confidence interval 1.62-37.08, p = 0.01), after adjusting for age, gender, and initial CRT. CONCLUSION Recurrent macular edema due to BRVO affects visual outcome and is associated with initial DRIL temporal to the fovea, evaluated using OCT sectional images before treatments. DRIL may facilitate determination of follow-up schedules in clinical practice.

Abstract
We evaluated whether the reduction of macular vessel density was correlated with the number of intravitreal injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents in eyes with a branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). The mean vessel density was determined by optical coherence tomography angiography in 29 eyes with macular edema associated with a BRVO. Our results showed that the mean vessel density in the group that had a resolution of the macular edema after one anti-VEGF injection was significantly higher than group that had a recurrence of the macular edema (P = 0.028). Single regression analysis showed that the number of intravitreal injections was significantly correlated with the reduction of the modified vessel density (r = −0.421, P = 0.023) and systemic hypertension (r = 0.377, P = 0.044). Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the reduction of the modified vessel density (β = −0.442, P = 0.009) and hypertension (β = 0.403, P = 0.016) were independent factors associated with the number of intravitreal injections. We conclude that the vessel density reduction can be used to predict whether recurrences of the macular edema will develop after the initial anti-VEGF injection in eyes with macular edema associated with a BRVO.

Abstract
This prospective study examined 58 eyes with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) to investigate the effects of the nonperfusion area (NPA), clinical subtype, and crossing pattern on the 2-year outcomes of ranibizumab therapy for the macular edema (ME). All eyes received three initial monthly injections, followed by additional pro re nata (PRN) injections. The final best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and ranibizumab injection number were not associated with the macular NPA or total NPA at baseline or month 12, and they showed no significant differences between the clinical subtypes. However, the incidence of neovascular changes was higher in the major BRVO group than in the macular BRVO group (P = 0.030). Twelve and 19 of the 34 eyes with major BRVO exhibited arterial overcrossing and venous overcrossing, respectively. At baseline, the total NPA did not differ according to the crossing pattern, however, the total NPA was significantly larger in the venous overcrossing group at month 12 (P = 0.047). At month 24, the incidence of neovascular changes was higher in the venous overcrossing group (P = 0.030). Following ranibizumab therapy for BRVO-associated ME, the clinical subtype and the arteriovenous crossing pattern may be associated with neovascular changes.

Abstract
To systematically review anatomical and functional outcomes of switching therapy from bevacizumab and/or ranibizumab to aflibercept in patients with persistent macular oedema secondary to retinal vein occlusions (RVO). A systematic search of aflibercept for the treatment of persistent macular oedema secondary to branch and central RVO was performed in EMBASE, PubMed and Cochrane databases prior to June 2017. The main outcome variables described were best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central macular thickness (CMT). All results were analysed and pooled using random-effects models with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Eight studies met the inclusion criteria with a total of 137 eyes, incorporating both branch and central RVO. Meta-analysis demonstrated a nonsignificant change in BCVA at 6 and 12 months following switch to aflibercept (4.40 letters, 95% CI: -3.10 to 11.90, p = 0.25 and 3.10 letters, 95% CI: -1.74 to 7.94, p = 0.21, respectively). Significant improvement in mean CMT was observed after switch to aflibercept at 6 (-256.00 μm, 95% CI: -318.00 to -194.00, p < 0.001) but not 12 months (-118.00 μm, 95% CI: -261.00 to 25.00, p = 0.11). Switching from bevacizumab/ranibizumab to aflibercept may improve persistent macular oedema secondary to RVO. However, there may be a limitation in the potential of visual recovery.

Abstract
AIM To determine whether there are factors that can predict the frequency of recurrences of macular oedema associated with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). METHODS We reviewed the medical records of 31 eyes with treatment-naïve macular oedema associated with BRVO. All eyes received an intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) injection and were followed with a pro re nata protocol for at least 12 months. A reinjection of ranibizmab was performed when the central foveal thickness was ≥300 µm. At 1 month after IVR injection, the macular vessel reduction was calculated by comparing the vessel density in the optical coherence tomography angiography in the BRVO involved half to that in the non-involved half. RESULTS The mean visual acuity improved from 0.35±0.27 logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution (logMAR) units (20/45; Snellen) at initial visit to 0.06±0.15 logMAR units (20/23) at 12 months (p<0.0001). During 12 months, the mean number of IVR injections was 3.8±1.8. Multivariate regression analysis showed that a greater macular vessel reduction at 1 month after initial IVR injection was significantly a negative predictor of frequency of IVR injections (β=-0.5065, p=0.0082). The visual acuity and the central foveal thickness at the initial visit or at 1 month after initial IVR injection were not predictive factors for frequency of IVR injections. CONCLUSIONS Patients with BRVO with a large macular vessel reduction at 1 month after an initial IVR injection have fewer recurrences and thus lower frequency of IVR injections during 12 months.

Abstract
AIM To compare three initial monthly intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) injections followed by pro re nata (PRN) dosing with one initial monthly IVR injections followed by PRN dosing for macular edema (ME) secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). METHODS Forty-two eyes of 42 patients who had IVR injections for BRVO were retrospectively studied. Eighteen eyes received 1 initial IVR injection (1+PRN group) and 24 eyes received 3 monthly IVR injections (3+PRN). At 1, 3, 6 and 12mo; spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) was performed. Central macular thickness (CMT), the integrity of the external limiting membrane (ELM), the presence of subretinal fluid, cyst size, the presence of inner segment/outer segment (IS/OS) defect were determined. RESULTS At baseline the mean CMT was 521.3±153.2 µm in the 3+PRN group while it was 438.1±162.4 µm in 1+PRN group. At the final visit, mean CMT was 278.3±87.8 µm in the 3+PRN group and 285.2±74.2 µm in the 1+PRN group (P=0.079). The changes in CMT over the entire study period were also comparable in both groups (243±160 µm in the 3+PRN group, and 152.9±175.3 µm in the 1+PRN group; P=0.090). At baseline, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 0.92±0.60 logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution (logMAR) in the 3+PRN group, while it was 0.72±0.46 logMAR in the 1+PRN group. Final BCVA was 0.42±0.55 logMAR in the 3+PRN group and 0.38±0.50 logMAR in the 1+PRN group (P=0.979). Additionally, the BCVA changes from baseline to final visit were not significantly different (-0.50±0.45 logMAR in the 3+PRN group, and -0.33±0.39 logMAR in the 1+PRN group; P=0.255). CONCLUSION No significant differences in the anatomical or functional results are found between 3+PRN and 1+PRN regimens in the patients receiving ranibizumab for ME secondary to BRVO. Intact IS/OS and baseline BCVA are good predictor of the visual gain, while baseline CMT is a good predictor of the anatomical gain.

Abstract
Purpose The aim of this study is to report the 6-month results after one intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) injection followed by pro re nata dosing for macular edema (ME) after branch retinal vein occlusion. Patients and methods The inclusion criteria included a minimal patient age of 18 years, 20 letters or more best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) (Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study [ETDRS] score, 77 letters or less), and central retinal thickness (CRT) of 250 microns or more. The primary outcome measure was the mean BCVA change from baseline at month 6; the secondary outcomes were mean changes in CRT, residual ME, and microaneurysm formation. Results Twenty patients were enrolled from March 2014 through October 2016 at Nagoya City University Hospital. The baseline mean ETDRS letters and CRT were 63.1 and 500 microns, respectively; mean time from symptom onset to initial therapy was 1.80 months; and mean ETDRS gain and CRT reduction were 15.2 letters and 230 microns, respectively. The percentages of patients with Snellen equivalent BCVAs of 20/40 (70 ETDRS letters) or better and 20/20 (85 ETDRS letters) were 90% and 15%, respectively. Residual ME and microaneurysms were observed in 85% and 35% of patients. Microaneurysm formation was associated with delayed initial therapy. Conclusion Prompt initiation of IVR injection provided a better visual prognosis at month 6 and suppressed the microaneurysm formation.

Abstract
PURPOSE To determine the prognosis of eyes with central retinal vein occlusion that had a preserved foveal depression at the baseline and were treated by intravitreal ranibizumab injections (IRIs). METHODS The authors reviewed the medical records of 23 eyes of 23 consecutive treatment-naive patients who received IRIs to treat the macular edema due to central retinal vein occlusion. Eyes were classified by the pre-IRI presence or absence of a foveal depression. A foveal depression was defined as a central foveal thickness that was <50 μm thinner than the average thickness at 200 μm temporal and nasal to the central fovea. The characteristics of the two groups were compared. RESULTS Seven of 23 eyes had a preserved foveal depression before the IRI. The mean number of injections within 12 months after the initial IRI was significantly fewer (P < 0.001) in eyes with foveal depression (1.6 ± 0.5) than in eyes without foveal depression (4.3 ± 1.3). The mean best-corrected visual acuity at 12 months after the initial IRI was significantly better (P = 0.003) in eyes with foveal depression (0.10 ± 0.17 logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution [logMAR] units; 20/25 Snellen units) than in eyes without foveal depression (0.77 ± 0.54 logMAR units; 20/118 Snellen units). CONCLUSION These results indicate that the prognosis is better for eyes with a foveal depression before the IRI treatment for a macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion.

Abstract
PURPOSE To examine the relationship between optical coherence tomography (OCT) images and clinical course in eyes with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) treated with intravitreal ranibizumab injection (IVR). DESIGN Prospective cohort study. PARTICIPANTS Thirty eyes of 30 patients with BRVO treated with IVR. METHODS All patients received 1 initial IVR followed by repeated injections in the pro re nata (PRN) regimen. Correlations between logarithm of minimum angle of resolution best-corrected visual acuity (logMAR BCVA) or number of IVRs after 12 months and OCT parameters including the external limiting membrane (ELM), ellipsoid zone (EZ), interdigitation zone (IZ), and photoreceptor outer segment (PROS) length at first resolution of macular edema (ME) were assessed. Resolution of ME was defined as central foveal thickness <300 μm and the absence of subretinal fluid. OCT parameters influencing BCVA and number of IVRs were evaluated using multivariate analysis. Correlations between nonperfusion areas (NPAs) and thinning areas and changes in retinal thickness of BRVO-affected areas were assessed. RESULTS Of the 30 patients, 27 completed this study and were included in the statistical analyses. The mean logMAR BCVA at 3, 6, and 12 months was 0.16 ± 0.19, 0.09 ± 0.20, and 0.07 ± 0.20, respectively, which improved significantly from baseline at each visit (p < 0.0001, respectively), while the mean number of IVRs at 12 months was 3.9 ± 2.2. The mean number of IVRs for the first resolution of ME was 1.6 ± 0.8. Eyes with ELM and EZ defects at the points of first resolution of ME were correlated with a significantly lower BCVA at 12 months compared with eyes with preserved ELMs and EZs (p = 0.035, p = 0.002, respectively). However, eyes with IZ defects at the points of first resolution of ME were not correlated with a significantly lower BCVA at 12 months compared with eyes with preserved IZs (p = 0.160). Defects in the EZ at the points of first resolution of ME significantly affected the number of IVRs at 12 months (p = 0.042), although the ELM and IZ did not. PROS length at the points of first resolution of ME was significantly correlated with BCVA and number of IVRs at 12 months (p = 0.006, p = 0.0008, respectively). In multivariate analysis, PROS length at the points of first resolution of ME had the most significant effect on BCVA and number of IVRs (p = 0.013, p = 0.012, respectively). NPA size on fluorescein angiography and thinning area on OCT within the macular area showed a significant correlation (p = 0.003, r = 0.971). The retinal thickness of ischemic BRVO-affected areas was significantly less than that of control areas at 10, 11, and 12 months (p = 0.001, p = 0.005, p = 0.003, respectively). CONCLUSION We showed that the 1+PRN regimen may be a useful therapy for ME due to BRVO. In addition, PROS length at points of first resolution of ME appears to be a good indicator of BCVA and number of IVRs in BRVO patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate whether early anatomical and visual acuity (VA) responses to intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) in macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) are associated with 1-year follow-up outcomes. METHODS Ninety-nine treatment-naïve patients (99 eyes) with macular edema after BRVO treated with IVB were analyzed retrospectively. All patients received single injection and were followed up with pro re nata regimen for at least 12 months. The relationship between early (1 month) and late (12 months) anatomical (presence/absence of fluid) and functional response (an improvement of <1, 1 to <3, or ≥3 logMAR lines from baseline in best corrected VA, BCVA) was explored. RESULTS Fifty-eight eyes (58.6%) had absence of fluid at 1 month after the first injection, but 41 eyes (41.4%) did not. Those with absence of fluid at 1 month were more likely to be fluid-free at 12 months (p = 0.010). Thirty-seven (37.4%), 24 (24.2%), and 38 (38.4%) eyes showed an improvement of <1, 1 to <3, and ≥3 lines, respectively, at 1 month after the first injection. Intercohort differences across three response categories in BCVA change from baseline were statistically significant throughout the follow-up. Each group maintained stable VA changes within 1 line during the follow-up after 1 month. CONCLUSION The early anatomical and functional response was associated with anatomical and functional improvement at 12 months.

Abstract
Purpose To evaluate the real life outcomes of intravitreal aflibercept (IVAfl) treatment in patients with macular edema (ME) secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO) during the first year of treatment. Methods Retrospective case series. Newly diagnosed or persistent ME patients secondary to RVO who were treated with IVAfl and had a follow-up period of at least 12 months were included. Twenty-two patients (54.8%) received 3 loading month loading doses IVAfl initially, whereas 20 patients (45.2%) did not receive. Then the patients were treated on an as-needed treatment regimen. Primary outcome measures of this study included the change in best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central retinal thickness (CRT). Secondary outcome measures were the number of visits and injections. Results Forty-two eyes of 42 patients were included. Fourteen patients (33.3%) had central RVO, and 28 (66.7%) had branch RVO. Mean BCVA at baseline and month 12 was 0.98 ± 0.58 and 0.82 ± 0.65 LogMAR, respectively (p = 0.04). Mean CRT at baseline and month 12 was 511 ± 141 and 304 ± 95 μm, respectively (p < 0.0001). Mean number of visits was 5.9 ± 2.1 (range 3–11) and injections was 3.2 ± 1.7 (range 1–8) at month 12. Conclusion In conclusion, IVAfl treatment seemed to be effective in patients with ME secondary to RVO with respect to visual and anatomical outcomes in real life. In this study the number of visits and injections was lower that randomized controlled trials, but the functional and anatomical outcomes are probably still acceptable.
