Abstract
This article gives valuable insight into the effect of selected groups of medications on dental treatment outcome and prognosis. The review emphasizes the importance of thorough medical history, which may have an impact on the prognosis of dental treatment. We discuss drugs acting on the central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract, endocrine system, and bone metabolism among others. Other pertinent drugs are discussed elsewhere in this special issue.

Abstract
Osteoporosis (OP) is a metabolic bone disease linked to an elevated fracture risk, primarily stemming from disruptions in bone metabolism. Present clinical treatments for OP merely alleviate symptoms. Hence, there exists a pressing need to identify novel targets for the clinical treatment of OP. Research indicates that the Wnt signalling pathway is modulated by serum-secreted frizzled-related protein 5 (SFRP5), potentially serving as a pivotal regulator in bone metabolism disorders. Moreover, studies confirm elevated SFRP5 expression in OP, with SFRP5 overexpression leading to the downregulation of Wnt and β-catenin proteins in the Wnt signalling pathway, as well as the expression of osteogenesis-related marker molecules such as RUNX2, ALP, and OPN. Conversely, the opposite has been reported when SFRP5 is knocked out, suggesting that SFRP5 may be a key factor involved in the regulation of bone metabolism via the Wnt signalling axis. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the action of SFRP5-induced OP have yet to be comprehensively elucidated. This review focusses on the molecular structure and function of SFRP5 and the potential molecular mechanisms of the SFRP5-mediated Wnt signalling pathway involved in bone metabolism in OP, providing reasonable evidence for the targeted therapy of SFRP5 for the prevention and treatment of OP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Dental implants have been one of the most popular treatments for rehabilitating individuals with single missing teeth or fully edentulous jaws since their introduction. As more implant patients are well-aged and take several medications due to various systemic conditions, clinicians should take into consideration the possible drug implications on bone remodeling and osseointegration. OBJECTIVE The present study aims to examine and review some desirable and unwelcomed implications of medicine on osseointegration. METHODS A broad search for proper relevant studies was conducted in four databases, including Web of Science, Pubmed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. RESULTS Some commonly prescribed medicines, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), glucocorticoids, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), anticoagulants, metformin, and chemotherapeutic agents, may jeopardize osseointegration. On the contrary, some therapeutic agents, such as anabolic, anti-catabolic, or dual anabolic agents may enhance osseointegration and increase the treatment's success rate. CONCLUSION Systemic medications that enhance osseointegration include mineralization promoters and bone resorption inhibitors. On the other hand, medications often given to the elderly with systemic problems might interfere with osseointegration, leading to implant failure. However, to validate the research, more human studies with a higher level of evidence are required.

Formulation and evaluation of raloxifene hydrochloride dry emulsion tablet using solid carrier adsorption technique. Ther Deliv 2021; 12:539-552. Abstract
Aim: The present study focused on the development of a dry emulsion tablet of raloxifene hydrochloride (RXF) using a solid carrier adsorption technique to enhance oral bioavailability. Methods: An oil-in-water emulsion was formulated and converted into dry powder using HPMC K4M plus Aerosil 200, then compressed into tablets. Results: The prepared emulsion was evaluated for globule size, drug content and zeta potential. In vitro release study revealed significantly higher release from emulsion. The prepared tablets possessed acceptable hardness, friability, weight variation, disintegration time, thickness, etc. In vivo pharmacokinetic studies indicated a more than sevenfold increase in oral bioavailability. Stability studies indicated good physical and chemical stability of the developed formulation. Conclusion: The authors successfully formulated dry emulsion tablets with enhanced oral bioavailability.
