Abstract
AIM To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Usights UC100 illuminated microcatheter in microcatheter-assisted trabeculotomy (MAT). METHODS Totally 10 eyes of 10 patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) who underwent MAT facilitated by Usights UC100 (5 eyes) or iTrack (5 eyes) were reviewed. The success of this surgery was defined as intraocular pressure (IOP) <22 mm Hg with >30% reduction, without oral glaucoma medications, or additional glaucoma surgery. RESULTS The mean pre-operative IOP was 25.38±10.22 mm Hg in the Usights UC100 group and 19.98±3.87 mm Hg in the iTrack group. MAT was achieved in all eyes in both groups. The success rates for the Usights UC100 group and iTrack groups were in all and 4 eyes, respectively. Both microcatheters produced a statistically significant reduction in IOP, and eyes using Usights UC100 achieved a lower IOP than the iTrack group at 3mo follow-up (12.58±1.52 and 14.84±1.89 mm Hg, respectively), but no statistical significance was there. No severe side effects were observed in either group. CONCLUSION MAT using Usights UC100 or iTrack both achieve significant pressure reduction in cases of POAG, and Usights UC100 is as safe as iTrack.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Primary congenital glaucoma causes vision loss if intraocular pressure is uncontrolled. Nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy is effective in treating primary congenital glaucoma. However, the effects of inadvertent trabeculodescemetic window perforation remain unclear. METHODS This retrospective cohort study included patients with primary congenital glaucoma who underwent nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy between 2014 and 2021. The perforation group had intraoperative trabeculodescemetic window perforations; the non-perforation group did not. The primary outcome was intraocular pressure between the groups over 15 months. The secondary outcomes included surgical success and complications. RESULTS The study included 74 eyes of 44 patients. The cohort comprised 31 perforated and 43 non-perforated eyes. Both groups showed significant intraocular pressure reduction without significant between-group differences in complete (68 vs. 77%), qualified (19 vs. 9%), or failed (13 vs. 14%) treatments. The median intraocular pressure decreased from 39 to 14 mmHg in the perforation group and 35 to 12 mmHg in the non-perforation group. Of the 74 treated eyes, 68 (92%) showed no complications. CONCLUSIONS An inadvertent trabeculodescemetic window perforation during nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy for primary congenital glaucoma did not significantly affect intraocular pressure outcomes compared to non-perforated cases over 15 months. Nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy reduced intraocular pressure regardless of intraoperative perforation in patients with primary congenital glaucoma. Perforation of the trabeculodescemetic window was associated with a low incidence of postoperative complications.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate the relative risks (RRs) for dementia among individuals with glaucoma. METHODS We conducted a search of PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane databases for observational cohort studies examining the association between glaucoma and dementia until March 2023. Two authors independently screened all titles and abstracts according to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Pooled RR and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were generated using random-effect models. RESULTS The meta-analysis included 18 cohort studies conducted in eight countries and involving 4,975,325 individuals. The pooled RR for the association between glaucoma and all-cause dementia was 1.314 (95% CI, 1.099-1.572; I2 = 95%). The pooled RRs for the associations of open-angle glaucoma with Alzheimer dementia and Parkinson disease were 1.287 (95% CI, 1.007-1.646; I2 = 96%) and 1.233 (95% CI, 0.677-2.243; I2 = 73%), respectively. The pooled RRs for the associations of angle-closure glaucoma with all-cause dementia and Alzheimer dementia were 0.978 (95% CI, 0.750-1.277; I2 = 17%) and 0.838 (95% CI, 0.421-1.669; I2 = 16%), respectively. No evidence of publication bias was detected in the Begg-Mazumdar adjusted rank correlation test (p = 0.47). CONCLUSIONS Based on current observational cohort studies, there is evidence supporting that glaucoma is a risk factor for dementia in the adult population.
