Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is the major cause of mortality globally, with increasing evidence suggesting a link between periodontitis, and CVD. This study aims to explore the association between periodontitis and CVD, and the impact of periodontal therapy on cardiovascular health. METHODS This review synthesized findings from preclinical and clinical studies, without publication year restrictions, examining periodontitis and CVD through various lenses. Scientific databases were inspected with keywords related to periodontitis and CVD. RESULTS The review identifies a substantial association between periodontitis and an increased risk of several CVD, supported by both epidemiological and interventional studies. Results suggest the complexity of the relationship, influenced by factors like the severity of periodontitis and the presence of other systemic conditions. Clinical data indicates that periodontal therapy, particularly non-surgical periodontal therapy, may reduce systemic inflammatory markers and thus may play a role in the primary and secondary prevention of CVD events, highlighting the potential of periodontal therapy to not only maintain oral health but also to modulate cardiovascular risk factors. CONCLUSIONS Current evidence supports a significant association between periodontitis and increased cardiovascular risk, promoting integrated healthcare approaches that consider oral health as a key-component of cardiovascular care and wellbeing.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The risk of intracranial aneurysms (IAs) development and rupture is significantly higher in patients with periodontitis (PD), suggesting an association between the two. However, the specific mechanisms of association between these two diseases have not been fully investigated. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, we downloaded IAs and PD data from the Gene Expression Omnibus. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, and functional enrichment analysis was performed. The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was performed to identified key modules and key crosstalk genes. In addition, the immune cell landscape was assessed and the correlation of key crosstalk genes with each immune cell was calculated. Finally, transcription factors (TFs) regulating key crosstalk genes were explored. RESULTS 127 overlapping DEGs were identified and functional enrichment analysis highlighted the important role of immune reflection in the pathogenesis of IAs and PD. We identified ITGAX and COL4A2 as key crosstalk genes. In addition, the expression of multiple immune cells was significantly elevated in PDs and IAs compared to controls, and both key crosstalk genes were significantly negatively associated with Macrophages M2. Finally, GATA2 was identified as a potential key transcription factor (TF), which regulates two key crosstalk gene. CONCLUSIONS The present study identifies key crosstalk genes and TF in PD and IAs, providing new insights for further study of the co-pathogenesis of PD and IAs from an immune and inflammatory perspective. Also, this is the first study to report the above findings.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Periodontitis is a chronic oral inflammatory disease that seriously affects people's quality of life. The purpose of our study was to investigate the correlation between the systemic immune inflammation index (SII) and periodontitis by utilizing a large national survey. This will establish a reference for the early identification and management of periodontitis. METHODS This study comprised the adult US population who participated in a national periodontitis surveillance project during the six years from 2009 to 2014. Through the utilization of univariate and multivariate weighted logistic regression, we investigated the correlation between the systemic immune inflammation index and periodontitis. Additionally, we employed sensitivity analyses to evaluate the robustness of our findings. RESULTS The study involved 10,366 participants with an average age of 51.00 years, of whom 49.45% were male (N = 5126) and 50.55% were female (N = 5240). The prevalence of periodontitis is estimated to be about 38.43% in the US adults aged 30 or older population. Our logistic regression models indicated a positive association between a SII higher than 978 × 109/L and periodontitis. The elder group (aged 50 or older) with SII higher than 978 × 109/L demonstrated a significant correlation with periodontitis in the fully adjusted model (Odds Ratio [OR] = 1.409, 95% Confidence Interval [CI] 1.037, 1.915, P = 0.022). However, there is no statistical difference among adults aged 30 to 50. The robustness of our findings was confirmed through sensitivity analyses. CONCLUSIONS Our study highlights that SII is associated with periodontitis in a nationally representative sample of US adults. And the SII is significantly associated with a high risk of periodontitis in individuals aged 50 or older.

Abstract
Variation in human immune response to the same bacterial or viral pathogen is well established in the literature. Variation in immune response to microbial challenge has also been observed within the human oral cavity. Our recent study focused on characterizing observed variations in microbially induced gingival inflammation-resulting in three distinct clinical Inflammatory Responder Types (IRTs): High-IRT, Low-IRT, and Slow-IRT. Here, we applied a high-resolution temporal multiomic analysis during microbially induced inflammation in order to characterize the effects of localized oral inflammation on distant healthy tissues in young healthy adults. Our results highlight a nonlocalized subclinical effect with alterations in proinflammatory host mediators and an ecological shift toward dysbiosis within the subgingival microbiome in an IRT-dependent manner-despite maintained oral hygiene. Our results provide mechanistic insight into how healthy tissues within humans are influenced by distant localized inflammation and may ultimately become susceptible to disease.

Abstract
Obstructive sleep apnea is a potentially dangerous condition with significant risks of comorbidities if left untreated. It represents a cardiovascular risk factor in the general population, and a higher prevalence is observed in patients already suffering from cardiovascular diseases. The gold standard treatment, continuous positive airway pressure, is not always accepted or tolerated. The mandibular advancement device represents an alternative treatment that we propose to implement in our study. The objective here is to first present a brief review of the topic. Due to poor evidence in the field, we propose a pilot study to evaluate the effect of a mandibular advancement device in patients with cardiovascular disease who are not treated for their sleep pathology in order to improve their therapeutic management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This work used bioinformatic analysis to identify the relationship between periodontitis (PD) and aging, which could lead to new treatments for periodontal disease in the elderly. METHOD Four microarray datasets were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and analyzed in R language to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The common DEGs of PD and aging were evaluated as key genes in this investigation by a Venn diagram. These common DEGs were analyzed through additional experiments and analysis, such as pathway analysis and enrichment analysis, and a network of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) was constructed. Cytoscape was used to visualize hub genes and critical modules based on the PPI network. Interaction of TF-genes and miRNAs with hub genes is identified. RESULT 84 common DEGs were found between PD and aging. Cytohubba was performed on the PPI network obtained from STRING tool, and the top 10 genes (MMP2, PDGFRB, CTGF, CD34, CXCL12, VIM, IL2RG, ACTA2, COL4A2, and TAGLN) were selected as hub genes. VIM may be a potential biomarker in the analysis of linked hub gene regulatory networks, and hsa-mir-21 and hsa-mir-125b are predicted to be associated in PD and aging. CONCLUSION This study investigated the key genes and pathways interactions between PD and aging, which may help reveal the correlation between PD and aging. The current research results are obtained by prediction, and follow-up biological experiments are required for further verification.

Abstract
Coronary heart disease is the most common heart disease, it can induce myocardial infarction, and the cause of the disease has a lot to do with life and eating habits. The results of a large number of epidemiological studies at home and abroad show that the incidence of coronary heart disease has an obvious familial tendency. However, little is known about the genetic factors of coronary heart disease. Although genome-wide association analysis and gene knockout experiments have found some genes related to coronary heart disease, there are still a large number of genes potentially related to coronary heart disease that have not been discovered. If it is confirmed by biological experimental means, the time and money cost is too high. Therefore, it is urgent to identify genes related to coronary heart disease on a large scale by computational means, so as to conduct targeted biological experimental verification. This paper proposes a deep learning method based on biological networks for the identification of coronary heart disease-related genes. We constructed gene interaction networks and extracted gene expression levels in different tissues as features. Through the association information and expression characteristics between genes, we constructed a model of coronary heart disease-related genes. Through cross-validation, we found that our proposed GCN-GENE that has AUC as 0.75 and AUPR as 0.78, which is more accurate than other methods and is a reliable method for predicting coronary heart disease-related genes.

Abstract
By 2030, non-communicable diseases will have accounted for more than three-quarters of deaths worldwide. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have been the leading cause of death worldwide for several years. Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a CVD characterized by necrosis of the heart at the myocardial level due to prolonged ischemia caused by the reduction or sudden absence of coronary blood supply. The prevalence of AMI is higher in men at all ages. The incidence of AMI has decreased in industrialized nations; however, it has been on the rise in Latin America (LATAM) due to lifestyle changes. These changes have caused the combined incidence of CVDs and unresolved health concerns in LATAM, such as infections and malnutrition. It is well known that periodontitis, a highly prevalent chronic infectious inflammatory disease, has been associated with systemic diseases, such as diabetes, kidney diseases, and AMI. This review addresses proposed aspects of the correlation between periodontitis and AMI, explains the importance of preventing periodontitis and CVDs, and analyzes the preventative measures being implemented in LATAM, particularly in Mexico.
