Abstract
We report a case of a 30-year-old previously higid female presenting with dorsal pain and persistent fever after COVID-19 vaccine booster dose. CT and MR revealed a prevertebral heterogeneous and infiltrating mass, with spontaneous regression in control imaging which biopsy confirmed an inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor.

Abstract
A 1-year-old, female English Bulldog presented with a 10-day history of progressive paraparesis. Neuroanatomical localization was consistent with T3-L3 segment myelopathy. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a severely compressive, mildly contrast enhancing, extradural, dorsal, broad-based mass at the level of L3-4. Similar, non-compressive, smaller nodules were present along the extradural space and dura mater of the caudal lumbar spine. Owners elected euthanasia based on these imaging findings and progressive clinical signs. Necropsy, histopathology and immunohistochemistry revealed a mesenchymal mass and nodules, admixed with numerous inflammatory cells. The diagnosis of an extradural inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) with a multifocal presentation was made.

Abstract
Objective Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare disease. We reviewed data from eight patients diagnosed with pulmonary IMT (PIMT) at our hospital with the aim of summarizing and analyzing the characteristics of PIMT to improve our understanding of the disease. Methods From January 2012 to December 2019, eight patients underwent surgical intervention for PIMT at The First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College. Resected tumors were subjected to pathological and immunohistochemical analyses. The follow-up duration for all patients ranged from 2 years and 3 months to 9 years and 9 months (median: 6 years and 9 months). Results The male:female ratio was 5:3, and the mean age was 48.50 years (21–74 years). Two patients (25%) with lung disease discovered via chest computed tomography during physical examinations had not experienced any symptoms. Six patients (75%) presented at the hospital because of cough, expectoration, blood in sputum, and chest tightness. Lesions from all eight patients were surgically removed, and PIMT was confirmed based on pathological examinations and immunohistochemical results. No patient received additional treatment after discharge. All cases have been followed up to the time of writing, without any tumor recurrence or distant metastasis. Conclusion The age of onset of PIMT is usually over 40 years, and its clinical symptoms are easily confused with those of lung cancer. PIMT can only be diagnosed by histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Complete surgical resection is the preferred treatment, as patients undergoing surgery require no additional treatment, such as chemotherapy, and the survival rate is good.

Abstract
Background Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is rare intermediate tumor, which happens mostly in children and young adults. Case presentation Reported is the successful treatment of a 29-year-old man presented with progressively dysphagia and weight loss. No other abnormal symptoms were observed. The contrast enhanced computed tomography (CT) revealed a dumbbell-shaped lesion between lung and esophagus. Finally, it was pathologically diagnosed as pulmonary IMT invading to the distal esophagus after operation. The patient underwent partial esophagectomy and left lower lobectomy, and was discharged on 10th postoperative day. Conclusions IMT is a rare lesion that usually occurs in the lung, but pulmonary IMT with distal esophagus invasion has not been described previously. Discriminating untypical symptom, completed resection, pathological expertise and closed follow-up will reach the successful diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) published the 5th version of the soft tissue and bone tumor classification. Based on this novel classification system, we reviewed the current knowledge on all tumor entities with spinal manifestations, their biologic behavior, and most importantly the appropriate treatment options as well as surgical approaches. METHODS All tumor entities were extracted from the WHO Soft-Tissue and Bone Tumor Classification (5th Edition). PubMed and Google Scholar were searched for the published cases of spinal tumor manifestations for each entity, and the following characteristics were extracted: Growth pattern, ability to metastasize, peak age, incidence, treatment, type of surgical resection indicated, recurrence rate, risk factors, 5-year survival rate, key molecular or genetic alterations, and possible associated tumor syndromes. Surgical treatment strategies as well as nonsurgical treatment recommendations are presented based on the biologic behavior of each lesion. RESULTS Out of 163 primary tumor entities of bone and soft tissue, 92 lesions have been reported along the spinal axis. Of these 92 entities, 54 have the potential to metastasize. The peak age ranges from conatal lesions to 72 years. For each tumor entity, we present recommended surgical treatment strategies based on the ability to locally destruct tissue, to grow, recur after resection, undergo malignant transformation as well as survival rates. In addition, potential systemic treatment recommendations for each tumor entity are outlined. CONCLUSION Based on the 5th Edition of the WHO bone and soft tumor classification, we identified 92 out of 163 tumor entities, which potentially can have spinal manifestations. Exact preoperative tissue diagnosis and interdisciplinary case discussions are crucial. Surgical resection is indicated in a significant subset of patients and has to be tailored to the specific biologic behavior of the targeted tumor entity based on the considerations outlined in detail in this article.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to explore the clinical and pathological characteristics, diagnosis, and treatment of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT). A total of 17 patients with IMT diagnosed between July 2010 and February 2020 were included in the present study, and the clinical characteristics, pathological features, treatment and prognosis were analyzed retrospectively. The cohort consisted of 17 participants, including 12 men and 5 women, with a mean age of 34.76 years. The most common locations of tumors were the bronchi and the lungs (9 cases, including 1 case involving the mediastinum), followed by the colon and bladder (2 cases each), and the omentum majus, mesocolon, stomach and peritoneal cavity (1 case each). Immunohistochemical staining demonstrated that the tumor cells exhibited positive staining for anaplastic lymphoma kinase p80 (13/17), smooth muscle actin (12/17), cytokeratin pan (6/17), vimentin (5/17) and desmin (4/17). The follow-up time was 18-114 months. A patient with epithelial inflammatory myofibroblast sarcoma (EIMS) succumbed to the disease, 1 case was lost to follow-up, 2 cases relapsed and the other 13 cases were considered cured. IMTs may be malignant or low-grade. EIMS is a rare and invasive variant of IMT. The clinical and imaging manifestations are often unique and vary among individuals. Once confirmed by pathology, radical surgery should be the first choice of treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare mesenchymal tumor that is characterized by spindle cells differentiated from muscle fibroblasts and infiltration of various types of inflammatory cells. IMT can occur at any age and at any anatomic site. The most common location of IMT is the bladder in the genitourinary tract. Only scarce cases of kidney IMT have been reported in the literature.
CASE SUMMARY A 77-year-old woman, with a history of bilateral renal calculus for 15 years, was admitted to the Department of Urology of our hospital complaining of recurrent painless gross hematuria for one month. The treatment with cephalosporin was ineffective. Computed tomography imaging showed a mixed density and slightly heterogeneously enhanced lesion in the middle pole of the left kidney and ipsilateral adrenal enlargement. The patient underwent surgical treatment by retroperitoneoscopic left radical nephrectomy plus adrenalectomy. A large number of typical spindle cells surrounded by plasma cells and lymphocytes were observed microscopically. Immunohistochemical analyses indicated that these spindle cells were positive for vimentin, cytokeratin (CK), Ki-67, CK7, CD34, and CD31 and were focally positive for CD10 and anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK-1). Thus, a diagnosis of IMT was made definitively. The patient recovered well after operation, and no recurrence or metastasis was noted during the 22-mo follow-up.
CONCLUSION Since kidney IMT is very rare and lacks characteristic clinical manifestation, it is easily misdiagnosed as a malignant tumor before operation. Surgery remains the best choice for diagnosis and treatment, and such cases must be followed carefully because of the uncertain biological behavior of this tumor. This report suggests that renal calculus may be one of the causes of IMT, but further investigation is necessary to prove it.

Abstract
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a neoplastic proliferation of myofibroblastic/fibroblastic cells with a variable admixture of inflammatory cells. It primarily affects soft tissue and viscera of children and young adults. IMT occurring in bone is extremely rare. Approximately 50% of IMTs carry a clonal rearrangement of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene, while other receptor tyrosine kinase gene rearrangements have been seen in a small subset of IMT. Herein, we report the first case of IMT which harbors an ALK gene amplification rather than a rearrangement thus resulting in overexpression of the protein, arising from the femur of a 24-year-old man. Our case provides a novel pathogenesis for IMT. An overview of cytogenetic abnormalities of IMT is also integrated into this report.

Abstract
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) can occur rarely in the soft tissue or joint of the limb. We retrospectively collected IMT cases of these rare sites and analyzed their clinical and imaging appearance. Thirteen cases of IMT were clinically diagnosed and underwent surgical procedures, pathological analyses, and postsurgical follow-up in our two hospitals. Other than one case of IMT of the bladder wall that presented with gross hematuria, none presented with local swelling, fever, or weakness. All the cases of IMT occurring at the bone showed destruction and parosteal soft tissue masses. The boundaries between the mass and normal bone were vague, without calcifications or any periosteal reaction. Five cases of IMF showed continuous enhancement on CT; seven cases demonstrated iso- or hyposignal intensity on T1WI; one case showed hypersignal intensity on T1WI, and eight cases demonstrated a hypersignal intensity signal on T2WI. All the masses located in soft tissues showed clear and sharp boundaries with different sizes of the swelling regions surrounding muscle interspaces. Three cases showed homogeneous enhancement, one case demonstrated heterogeneous enhancement, and two cases showed edge enhancement on enhanced MRI scans. On pathology, all the lesions showed an absence of a pseudocapsule, and four cases of ALK were positive. The radiological manifestations of IMT located at the soft tissue and bones were similar to benign tumors in shape; however, peritumoral edema, parosteal soft tissue, and the invasive rim of IMT are similar to the features of malignant tumors. Different radiological methods should be used to obtain an accurate diagnosis.
