Abstract
Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common disease in the oral cavity characterized by recurrent ulcers (RU). Usually, these cause acute pain without definitive treatment. The present study determines the efficacy of non-thermal plasma (NTP) for treating RU. NTP is applied to the patient's RU using a radiofrequency generator connected to a point reactor. The power density applied to the ulcer is 0.50 W/cm2, less than 4 W/cm2, which is the maximum value without biological risk. Each patient received two treatments of three minutes each and spaced 60 min apart at a distance of 5 mm from the RU. From a sample of 30 ulcers in patients treated for RU with an average age of 37 years, they stated that the pain decreased considerably and without the need for ingestion of analgesics and antibiotics. Regeneration took place in an average of three days. The NTP proved to be an excellent therapeutic alternative for the treatment of RU since it has a rapid effect of reducing pain and inflammation, as well as adequate tissue regeneration.

Abstract
Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common oral disease characterized by intermittent eruptions of painful oral ulcerations. Hippocrates first described aphthous stomatitis with the Greek word aphthi meaning "to inflame." RAS affects 10-20% of the population with the incidence being the highest among young adults. The peak age of onset is between 10 and 19 years of age. It has three main forms of presentation. The most common being minor RAS, along with the major and herpetiform types. Many local and systemic factors are associated with RAS pathogenesis. The main concern with oral aphthae in many cases is local pain, which can be severe enough to interfere with eating, speaking, and swallowing. It is important to differentiate RAS from systemic diseases with aphthae-such as Behçet's syndrome and the newly-delineated, autoinflammatory PFAPA (periodic fever with aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, and adenitis) syndrome-as well as from other aphthous-like ulcerations like herpes simplex virus (HSV) or Coxsackie oral lesions. The management depends upon the clinical presentation and symptomatology-focusing on analgesic, antimicrobial, and immunomodulatory drugs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The objective of this meta-analysis was to summarize and identify the available evidence from studies to estimate the clinical value of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) and provides clinicians with evidence on which to base their clinical decision making. METHODS This review will include all studies comparing clinical efficacy of TCM in the treatment of RAS. The search strategy will be performed in 9 databases. We will not establish any limitations to language and publication status, published from inception to the August 2020. Two reviewers will screen, select studies, extract data, and assess quality independently. Outcome is clinical efficacy, pain relief, duration of wound healing, effect on wound healing, rate of recurrence, adverse events, and safety. The methodological quality including the risk of bias of the included studies will be evaluated. We will carry out statistical analysis using RevMan 5.3 software. RESULTS This study will summarize current evidence to assess the efficacy and safety of TCM in the treatment of RAS. CONCLUSION The findings of this study will provide helpful evidence for the clinician, and will promote further studies, as well as studying the value of TCM. Abstract
BACKGROUND Oral ulcers (OU) is a common oral mucosal disease manifested with obvious pain; in some studies, the efficacy of acupuncture in OU has been confirmed, but the systematic reviews and meta-analyses for them are lacking. Our aim is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of OU. METHODS Relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs), quasi RCTs and non-RCTs will be identified by systematic searching from the following electronic databases: PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technology Journal database, and Wanfang Data (since inception of the databases to present). In addition, ongoing trials will be retrieved from the Chinese Clinical Trial Register, World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, Clinical Trials, and The Clinical Trials Register. Grey literature will be also taken into consideration, including academic dissertation, minutes of the meeting from Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technology Journal database, and Wanfang Data. There are no language restrictions. RESULTS Ethical approval is not required because this study is based on published papers. After peer-review, the study will be disseminated in scientific journals and conferences. CONCLUSION This systematic review will provide evidence for the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for Oral ulcers. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER CRD42020144911.

Abstract
Human gingival fibroblasts (GF) and human oral mucosa epithelial cells (EC) with an inflammatory phenotype represent a valuable experimental paradigm to explore the curative activity of agents to be used in oral mucositis. The role of cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) has not yet been investigated in oral mucositis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic potential of β-Caryophyllene (BCP), a CB2 agonist, in an in vitro model of oral mucositis. GF and EC were stimulated with LPS (2 µg/mL) alone or in combination with BCP; a group of LPS challenged GF and EC were treated with BCP and AM630, a CB2 antagonist. LPS increased the inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-17A whereas it decreased the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-13. The upstream signals were identified in an augmented expression of NF-κB and STAT-3 and in reduced mRNA levels of PPARγ and PGC-1α. BCP blunted the LPS-induced inflammatory phenotype and this effect was reverted by the CB2 antagonist AM630. These results suggest that CB2 receptors are an interesting target to develop innovative strategies for oral mucositis and point out that BCP exerts a marked curative effect in a preclinical model of oral mucositis which deserves to be confirmed in a clinical setting.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Oral mucositis (OM) is a common and unavoidable side effect in patients suffering from head and neck cancer who are undergoing radiotherapy. It is characterized by unbearable pain, as well as eating and speech disorders. This has serious negative effects on the patients' quality of life and can even reduce radiotherapy tolerance, ultimately resulting in a poor prognosis. At present, many prevention and treatment methods are still in the experimental stage, and the efficacies are controversial. METHODS Four English databases: Medline via pubmed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science and another 4 Chinese databases: China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal database (VIP), Wanfang Database and CBM, will be searched from inception to August 2019. All randomized controlled trials in Chinese and English language will be included. Literature selection, data extraction and quality assessment will be completed by 2 independent authors. The primary outcomes will include the incidence of OM (1-4 grade) and the pain degree. The onset time of OM, the improvement rate for quality of life, and any adverse effects will be evaluated as the secondary outcomes. The data will be synthesized by Review Manager and Stata software. RESULTS This study provides a high-quality synthesis from existing evidence for Chinese herbal medicine in radiotherapy induced OM treatment, according to the criteria: incidence of OM, onset time of OM, status changes in quality of life and adverse events. CONCLUSION This study will provide evidence to help determine whether Chinese herbal medicine is effective and safe for use in the prevention and/or treatment of radiotherapy induced OM. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION No additional formal ethical recognition or informed consent is required since no primary data collection is involved. The study result will be published in peer-reviewed journals or at related conferences.PROSPERO registration number: PROSPERO CRD42019141900.
