Abstract
Plantar fasciitis arises from progressive damage of the plantar fascia, which originates at the medial calcaneal tuberosity and associated perifascial tissues. The plantar fascia is made up of three segments that grow from the calcaneus and serve a crucial role in appropriate foot biomechanics. The plantar fascia itself is vital in supporting the arch and absorbing trauma. The heel spur is one of the most prevalent causes of foot discomfort. It is important to determine the most effective technique of therapy based on the emergence of pain at each step of the day. This case report describes the thorough rehabilitation of a 42-year-old mesomorphic female, a yoga instructor, and a recreational runner who presented with heel spur and plantar fasciitis symptoms. In addition to traditional therapy, the patient received advanced physical therapy with an emphasis on Mulligan joint mobilization to lessen discomfort and increase range of motion. The objective was to evaluate the effect of this intervention on several outcome measures, such as the visual analogue scale, balance test, foot functional scale, range of motion, and lower extremity functional scale. Targeted exercises and treatments were incorporated into the comprehensive rehabilitation plan to enhance foot function. The patient received the enhanced physiotherapy intervention well. The outcome measure showed notable gains. This case contributes greatly to our knowledge of the best physiotherapy treatments for those with plantar fasciitis and heel spurs.

Abstract
Plantar fasciitis is stated to arise because of inadequate accumulated tension at the plantar fascia's enthesis. Tensile load and prolonged strain cause tiny rips in the fascia, which trigger a chronic inflammation process of healing. This case report shows the diagnostic evaluations, assessment of the condition, and physical rehabilitation management for a 45-year-old female nurse working in the neurosurgical critical care unit who had been experiencing plantar medial and posterior heel pain, as well as discomfort at the calcaneal tuberosity, for the previous six months. To increase functional mobility and alleviate symptoms, the patient sought out physiotherapy intervention. In this case, a physiotherapeutic program was implemented to treat plantar fasciitis, enhance mobility, and encourage long-term recovery. The evaluation included a detailed review of the patient's gait, biomechanics, and circumstances that may have contributed to the ongoing problems. The multimodal strategy used in the intervention plan included manual therapy, strengthening and stretching exercises, as well as patient education and counselling on self-management techniques. The patient's functional mobility increased along with a steady reduction in discomfort during the duration of the physiotherapy sessions. The instance emphasises how important it is to manage persistent plantar fasciitis with a customised physical therapy strategy that takes the patient's specific requirements into account and addresses contributory variables. The present study adds to the extant literature on efficacious physiotherapeutic approaches for plantar fasciitis, highlighting the need for a holistic approach in attaining favourable results for individuals enduring heel discomfort.

Abstract
The objectives of this scoping review were as follows: (1) to describe what exercises and intervention variables are used in resistance training interventions for lower limb tendinopathy, (2) to assess the completeness of reporting as assessed by the Consensus on Exercise Reporting Template (CERT) and the Toigo and Boutellier framework, and (3) to assess the implementation of scientific resistance training principles. We searched MEDLINE, CINAHL, AMED, Embase, SPORTDiscus, and Cochrane Library databases. Randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, case series, case reports, and observational studies that reported using resistance exercises for lower limb tendinopathies were considered for inclusion, with 194 studies meeting the inclusion criteria. Completeness of the reporting of exercise descriptors and programme variables was assessed by the CERT and the Toigo and Boutellier framework. Reporting of exercise descriptor items from the Toigo and Boutellier framework ranged from 0 to 13, with an average score of 9/13, with only 9 studies achieving a full 13/13. Reporting of items from the CERT ranged from 0 to 18, with an average score of 13/19. No study achieved a full 19/19; however, 8 achieved 18/19. Scoring for resistance training principles ranged from 1 to 10, with only 14 studies achieving 10/10. Eccentric heel-drops were the most common exercise (75 studies), followed by isotonic heel raises (38), and single-leg eccentric decline squats (27). The reporting of exercise descriptors and intervention content was high across studies, with most allowing exercise replication, particularly for Achilles and patellar tendinopathy. However, reporting for some tendinopathies and content items such as adherence was poor, limiting optimal translation to clinical practice.

Abstract
Musculoskeletal disorders, such as tendinopathy, are placing an increasing burden on society and health systems. Tendinopathy accounts for up to 30% of musculoskeletal disorders, with a high incidence in athletes and the general population. Although resistance training has shown short-term effectiveness in the treatment of lower limb tendinopathy, more comprehensive exercise protocols and progression methods are required due to poor long-term outcomes. The most common resistance training protocols are predetermined and standardized, which presents significant limitations. Current standardized protocols do not adhere to scientific resistance training principles, consider individual factors, or take the importance of individualized training into account. Resistance training programs in case of tendinopathy are currently not achieving the required intensity and dosage, leading to high recurrence rates. Therefore, better methods for individualizing and progressing resistance training are required to improve outcomes. One potential method is autoregulation, which allows individuals to progress training at their own rate, taking individual factors into account. Despite the finding of their effectiveness in increasing the strength of healthy athletes, autoregulation methods have not been investigated in case of tendinopathy. The purpose of this narrative review was 3-fold: firstly, to give an overview and a critical analysis of the individual factors involved in tendinopathy and current resistance training protocols and their limitations. Secondly, to give an overview of the history, methods, and application of autoregulation strategies both in sports performance and physiotherapy. Finally, a theoretical adaptation of a current tendinopathy resistance training protocol using autoregulation methods is presented, providing an example of how the method could be implemented in clinical practice or future research.

Abstract
Background: Plantar fasciitis (PF) can disturb individual's weight-bearing activities. Hence, conservative treatments with immediate effect in reducing pain and improving foot function is required.Objective: This study compared the effect of kinesiotaping and stretching exercise in individuals with PF.Methods: Thirty patients with PF were randomly divided into three groups, and received kinesiotaping, stretching exercise, and a combination of the two aforementioned interventions. Pain intensity and foot disability were measured at baseline, immediately after the first treatment, and at one week.Results: Immediately after the first treatment, all groups showed significant changes in heel pain intensity (p ≤ .012) with the standardized response mean (SRM) of 2.85, 1.96, and 1.43 for the taping, stretching, and the combination groups, respectively. Nevertheless, no significant change in foot disability was found (p > .05). At the one week, all groups continued to demonstrate significant reduction in heel pain (p ≤ .012) with the SRM of 1.78, 2.84, and 2.09 for the taping, stretching, and the combination groups, respectively. While the combination group showed significant reduction in foot disability (p = .024). However, there was no significant difference of the change score in all parameters among the three groups (p > .05).Conclusion: Improvement in heel pain was observed in all groups after the first treatment. However, improvement in foot function over one week was observed only among those who received the combined treatment. Further studies on larger samples are required to establish the superiority of the combined treatment over kinesiotaping or stretching alone.

Abstract
Background Muscle weakness is an important etiological factor in plantar fasciitis (PF), but available data on the role of the quadriceps, hamstring, and gastrocnemius (GCM) muscles are limited. The aim of this study was to compare the strength and reaction time of the quadriceps, hamstring, and GCM muscles and foot pressure between patients with PF and normal controls. Methods A total of 21 PF patients and 21 normal controls were enrolled. Muscle strength was measured by the peak torque per body weight (Nmkg− 1 × 100). Muscle reaction time was evaluated by the acceleration time (AT, milliseconds). Foot pressure and posture were assessed by pedobarography [valgus/varus index (VV index), %]. Results The strength of the quadriceps was significantly lower in the affected ankles of the PF group than in the control group (p = 0.005). The AT of the quadriceps and hamstring muscles was significantly increased in the affected ankles of the PF group than in the control group (quadriceps: p = 0.012, hamstring: p = 0.001), while the AT of the GCM muscle was significantly decreased (p = 0.009) and significantly correlated negatively with quadriceps muscle strength (r = −.598, p = 0.004) and AT (r = −.472, p = 0.031). Forefoot (p = 0.001) and hindfoot (p = 0.000) pressure were significantly greater, with the VV index showing hindfoot valgus, in the affected ankles in the PF group compared to the control group (p = 0.039). Conclusions This study demonstrated weakness and delayed reaction time of the quadriceps and hamstring muscles, with a rapid reaction time of the GCM muscle, in patients with PF. Clinical relevance Clinicians and therapists should assess the function of the quadriceps and hamstring muscles when planning the management of PF patients without muscle tightness.
