Abstract
INTRODUCTION The selection of appropriate outcomes in clinical trials and systematic reviews is a crucial factor in determining the results that are useful, reliable, and relevant for both patients and healthcare professionals. Clinicians and researchers have been encouraged to develop and apply core outcome sets (COS) to minimise the discrepancy between studies. AIM This systematic review is the first phase of the COS development project for clinical trials in temporomandibular disorders (COS-TMD). It aims to identify and synthesise the outcomes used in the randomised controlled trials (RCT) that evaluated the effectiveness of interventions used in TMD management. MATERIALS AND METHODS An electronic search was performed in several databases: MEDLINE (via PubMed), Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and EMBASE. The eligibility criteria comprised RCT that applied any intervention to treat temporomandibular joint disorders or masticatory muscle disorders. The identified outcomes were categorised according to domains of the Initiative on Methods, Measurement and Pain Assessment in Clinical Trials (IMMPACT). RESULTS The electronic search resulted in 1606 studies. After removing duplicates and applying the eligibility criteria, 106 RCT were included. A total of 43 studies evaluated masticatory muscle disorders, 27 evaluated temporomandibular joint disorders, and 36 analysed mixed TMD. CONCLUSIONS The evaluation showed significant variability in the types of outcomes and their measurement instruments. In addition, some domains such as physical and emotional functioning, participant ratings of global improvement and adverse events have been neglected when determining the effectiveness of treatments for TMD.

Abstract
Numerous cultural adaptations of the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia 11-item version (TSK-11) scale have emerged since the original version was introduced. We conducted a (COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments) COSMIN-informed systematic review of measurement properties to identify the cross-cultural adaptation of the TSK-11 and report, critically appraise, and systematize its measurement properties. Six databases were searched for studies published since 2005. Studies reporting on the measurement properties of culturally adapted versions of the TSK-11, published in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, were considered for inclusion. The results were synthesized by measurement properties and rated against the COSMIN criteria for good measurement properties. The quality of the evidence was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation approach and presented in a summary of findings table. Twenty-three studies were included, and cultural adaptations for 15 languages were identified: English, Chinese, Cantonese, Swedish, German, Dutch, Arabic, Turkish, Danish, Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Marathi, Thai, and Persian. There is "high" certainty in the evidence for "sufficient" criterion validity (TSK-17, r = .84) and "insufficient" measurement error (small detectable change range 5.6-6.16). "Moderate" certainty in the evidence for "sufficient" construct validity (87.8% of hypotheses confirmed), test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient2,1 = .747-.87), and "low" certainty in evidence for "sufficient" responsiveness. The numerous sources of heterogeneity prevent conclusions from being drawn regarding structural validity. Measurement error, responsiveness, and structural validity of the TSK-11 require further investigation. Clinicians should complement the use of TSK-11 with other instruments. Future studies on the structural validity of the questionnaire should standardize the data analysis methods. PERSPECTIVE: This article presents the measurement properties of the cross-cultural adaptations of the TSK-11. Clinicians should be aware that cultural and clinical aspects may influence the structural validity of the questionnaire. Using the TSK-11 as a stand-alone instrument may omit relevant clinical progression in the patient's condition.

Abstract
Aim Internal disc displacement of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is identified by an anomaly between the condylar-disc assembly, which, in many cases, may lead to discomfort and malfunction of the chewing function. The study's objective was to assess the effects of four distinct treatment approaches on temporomandibular disorder cases with anterior disc displacements focusing on their chewing efficiency. Materials and Methods One hundred participants suffering from reducible TMJ disc displacement were selected for enrollment in the study. Subjects were divided equally into four groups: group I patients were treated with behavioral therapy; group II patients were treated with low-level laser therapy (LLLT); group III patients were treated with anterior repositioning splints; and group IV patients were treated with flat plane splints. Chewing efficiency was assessed utilizing the fractional sieving method and a synthetic food substitute was created using silicon impression material. The statistical analysis encompassed comparisons of chewing efficiency between groups and between baseline and posttreatment within each group, employing analysis of variance (ANOVA) and paired t tests, respectively. Results Using the paired t test, a significant difference in chewing efficiency values as expressed by the median particle size was observed between the baseline and 6-month values in all groups (P < 0.05), except for group I where no significant change was noted over the 6 months (P > 0.05). The one-way ANOVA test revealed a statistically significant difference among groups following therapies (P ˂ 0.05). The post hoc Tukey test was employed for pairwise comparisons and revealed statistically significant variances in the main values of chewing efficiency among all groups at a 95% confidence level (P ˂ 0.05). Conclusion The study's results suggest that occlusal splints and LLLT are more effective in improving chewing efficiency than behavioral interventions.

Abstract
Although there is growing evidence that kinesiophobia is correlated with temporomandibular disorders (TMD), its relationship with other characteristic TMD comorbidities, such as depression, anxiety, functional limitations, and pain in the TMD population, has rarely been investigated. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between kinesiophobia, emotional state, functional state and chronic pain in subjects both with and without TMD. A total of 94 subjects participated in the study and were divided into two groups (47 subjects each)-TMD (subjects with temporomandibular disorders) and nTMD (asymptomatic controls)-on the basis of the RDC/TMD protocol. All measurements were taken with self-administered questionnaires: TSK-TMD for kinesiophobia, PHQ-9 and GAD-7 for psychoemotional state, JFLS-20 for jaw functional limitations, and GCPS for chronic pain. The prevalence of kinesiophobia in the TMD group was 38.3% for moderate risk, and 61.7% for high risk. The TMD group showed significantly higher scores in all categories (kinesiophobia, depression, jaw functional limitations and chronic pain), with the exception of anxiety which was right at the cut-off point. Moreover, a significant correlation was found between kinesiophobia (TSK-TMD) and jaw functional limitations (JFLS-20). Results of this study could provide new insight into the relationship between kinesiophobia and TMD, further improving the diagnosis process.

Abstract
AIMS AND OBJECTIVE To explore the effectiveness of Virtual Reality Technology in reducing kinesiophobia in people. BACKGROUND Kinesiophobia is an important psychosocial factor affecting the pain experience and has a significant negative impact on rehabilitation. Virtual reality technology has been widely used in the treatment of phobias, mental disorders and anxiety disorders. However, the effect of virtual reality technology on people with kinesiophobia has been reported with inconsistent results. DESIGN A meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials. METHODS This study systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline, Scopus and four Chinese databases. The standardised mean difference (SMD) was calculated using random-effects models, and the Cochrane Collaboration's tool was used to assess the risk of bias in each study. The PRISMA 2020 checklist provided by the EQUATOR network was used. RESULTS Eleven randomised controlled trials involving a total of 488 subjects were included. Meta-analysis showed the effect sizes of virtual reality intervention on kinesiophobia (SMD = -0.53, 95% CI [-0.90, -0.17], p = .004). Virtual reality intervention was more effective in reducing kinesiophobia in people with chronic low back pain (SMD = -1.00, 95% CI [-1.71, -0.29], p = .006). Compared with fully immersive virtual reality (SMD = -0.29, 95% CI [-0.62, 0.05], p = 0.09), non-immersive virtual reality was more effective in reducing kinesiophobia (SMD = -0.66, 95% CI [-1.24, -0.09], p = 0.02). Compared with virtual reality intervention alone (SMD = -0.35, 95% CI [-1.40, 0.71], p = 0.52), virtual reality combined with exercise was more effective in reducing kinesiophobia (SMD = -0.59, 95% CI [-0.95, -0.22], p = 0.002). CONCLUSIONS Virtual reality technology has the potential to reduce the degree of kinesiophobia in people. In addition, virtual reality technology was more effective in people with chronic low back pain; non-immersive virtual reality was more effective in reducing kinesiophobia; and virtual reality technology combined with exercise was more effective in reducing kinesiophobia than virtual reality intervention alone. Clinical nursing staff should be encouraged to use virtual reality to speed up patient recovery. However, to achieve immersion and apply this technology to different diseases, more studies are required to provide clearer suggestions. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE This study suggests that healthcare staff should pay attention to kinesiophobia, and early identification and intervention of kinesiophobia can help patients recover their health and improve the quality of nursing.
